I agree with all Ventari said, they are measured changes, forcing a warrior to take 20points to get +50% crit when stunning is perfectly acceptable – think of it along the lines of other profession defining Master Traits like Deceptive Evasion and Terror. Base Condi damage is also quite high especially when mixed with burning but I kinda think all damage needs a bit of a toning down.

I understand and share Ventari’s dislike about knowing you dodged every important skill versus a zerker and losing to weak condi application – number of times in the duel server where Poison and Mug have been the most damaging attacks or Bleedng and Torment from a Power Necro. Condis should be as ineffective for Power specs as Power is for Condi – eg. watch a condi spec trying to kill an AR engi.

At the moment warriors can just equip their passive regen signet and be unable to be killed. When a warrior is 4v1 and not dropping below 50% health and able to kill the other 4 players, it simply makes PVP unfun. Just had two games where it was impossible to kill any of the opposing team because it was all passive regen warriors.

Have you ever heard of poison?

Very nice condition supposed to reduce healing amount by 33%.

For Poison to have an equal effect on Heal Sig to any active heal cast through it you require 100% up time.

Its banned on Distubin’s server [Angz] which is populated by S/D thieves, Fresh Air eles, Shatter and Condi mesmers and Med Guards. Its pretty high damage stuff for the most part, still banned because it takes the kitten .

I think the solution of resetting swiftness duration to 13 when you run over it with less than 13secs is the best answer that isnt too abusable.

It would just save all those AAARGH moments when you cast it that millisecond too early and have to take a step back or when Sig of Insp procs JUST as you touch it and you just feel cheated by the gods xD

Is it possible that the issue may lie in the 10 trait points turning tanks into zerkers. I think Heal Sig is stupidly efficient healing but isnt it rooted in the amount of defense the target has because it can completely ignore taking offensive stuff because for 10 points it becomes as dangerous as it needs to be when it needs to be?

The passive healing and condi remove needs to be looked at but the 50% crit chance trait needs to be moved up the tree.

Thats the point of phantasm builds, they are gimmicky and OP in 1v1 but lose their effectiveness the more enemies there are. If you dont want to be bad in group situations dont run builds like that.

im willing to bet you’re being hit by channeled attacks like rapid fire, if they begin the attack before you stealth the attack will stil hit you, like duelist phants firing or slow moving ranged attacks will still hit you cause the attack began before you stealthed.

So you have a twitch reflex you need to not give in to, everyone has that – you need to not shatter if suddenly a block appears etc. its not the blocks fault you wasted your skills hitting it… Also dont talk to me about unintended bonuses from a necro’s point of view lol procs, my main source of weakness also causes 2 bleeds and has a damage component guess that means it can crit too yay, oh good my auto spectral armour gives me deathshroud at a rate faster than i lose it while in death shroud and hey even my armour can fear through blurred frenzy yay. At least Mes Sword needs to be activated…

Mesmer Sword #3 has really bad pathing and i cannot imagine the designers wanted the skill to function unless there is a slight incline so its a bug and I’m asking for it to be fixed.

Karla it works as a stun break yes but it also has a symbol on the mesmer indicating that they can use it, fearing a mesmer while the Illusionary Leap is up is like fearing someone with stability up and blaming them. The skill is bugged and needs fixed thats what this thread is about. Calling Mesmer sword #3 OP when there are thieves running around with sword #2 is laughable.

The pathing on this skill is pretty awful. When comparing it to other Leaps I think the main difference is the clone doesn’t jump in the Z-Axis at all this causes it to get defeated by tiny differences in height or pebbles on the road.

Giving the clone a Z-Axis jump when being cast like ranger sword, guard gsword, warrior sword etc. the skill would be more usable. Its a highly telegraphed attack so this shouldn’t make it OP but would cut out sooooo much frustration when someone is within touching distance but the clone gets stuck because of a hill.

The point I was making is you sometimes need to sacrifice what you want to do with your character to build to survive the meta. How many mesmers do you see running both IoL and Portal now? Very few (I think probably ifluenced by Helseth) because mesmers just dont live without that extra selfish utility. Even going so far as taking Lyssa’s Runes and Mass Invis (this may be also due to power creep meaning Moa is no longer necessary).

But the point is forced to adapt. There will always be some classes you NEED to outplay – how do you think mesmers feel vs S/D? But you can do your best to mitigate how hard they counter you.

I think the days of running around with 0 stun breakers is over, i do appreciate warriors are too strong atm with lots of passive help through cleansing ire and heal sig BUT running around with 0 stun breakers is just asking to die. You need to take some responsibility here.

“Bursting” a warrior is extremely hard to do. I find it difficult to believe that people still believe this is a counter to a longbow hammer war.

Bursting a warrior with conditions is difficult compared to other classes. This is true.

However, focus-pressuring a warrior works, guaranteed. It’s the exact same concept as burning through a guardian’s cooldowns; like peeling an onion, first you force the guardian to use up their walls and shields, force out their block-heal, then they use up all of their aegis CDs, all virtues, then they invuln elite, all virtues again, and THEN…ONLY THEN, do they finally die.

It’s the exact same thing with warriors now. First you force out their stances, and then they die. Simple and balanced with a coordinated group.

I would point out that you can do this to a guardian because it cant hurt you back, warrior definitely can. Mesmer using GS auto will never reduce a warriors hp, if he can dodge the telegraphed phant and mirror blade the warrior can be hit by the auto without taking any damage that isnt instantly healed up. Now I know in a fight you’re obviously doing more but this is just illustrating that “pressure the warrior” is a bit of a joke.

I understand what you want but the issue I have is adding so much utility to certain skills. Its the problem necro offhand dagger or thief sword #2 have, skills need to do less things not do more. Doing several things at once helps spam and is part of the spam culture – warriors removing condis and bursting, necros doing large dps and disables.

Oozes are immune to CC but the lava elementals aren’t so AoE KBs work to control what you want, also use Feedback or any reflect/absorb projectile skill as all the lava attacks are projectiles… Anyone who asks for nerfs already but didn’t notice these ways to do the encounter should think/try things before complaining.

Warriors have passive condi clear from using their burst skills, require you to kite them a lot (due to lots of stuns and void zones from long bow) have many immunity skills be they blocks or utilities so allowing them such strong passive regen makes them too imbalanced for 1v1 fights which is why its banned.

Many other things are banned too like elites >90secs and things like Prismatic Understanding. Just cause they are ridiculous in 1v1 fights. Also certain amulets are banned. Remember we want the fights to not last forever in a 1v1 server cause everyone wants a turn to play.

You can beat a thief but only if they let you, they have the ability to escape combat like no other – Felne Grace, Heal Evade, Sword #2, Short Bow #3 spam, Refuge, other Stealth/Ports.

In a 1v1 environment its their choice to die not yours to kill, which is why so much is written abouth them as they frustrate the hell out of people. Ofc they can die in a team fight if they make a mistake like anyone else, regardless Sword #2 is OP and needs to be changed also Feline Grace is too much.

I stopped playing GW1 before The War In Kryta patch, is there scope for the Mursaat to return? I was devastated when the Arah Mursaat path was void of them. Then they annonced Fractals with new enemies which use a skill called (Spectral) Agony and needed Infusions to survive… Still no Mursaat…

Firstly this isn’t about hotjoin its about Skyhammer farms, secondly I’m not sure your logic holds – if 85% of people are playing at “off peak” times how could those times be considered “off peak”?

PvP needs a new reward system due to this corruption. In my opinion it needed it before this, but now is required. So maybe some good will come of this as ANet NEEDS to get a grip of it soon.

Hmmm … I don’t like Skyhammer farming at all. Atm I do a fair amount of hotjoins and PvE; not because I like it, but if I am to play the game, I prefer to do it frustration-free. I don’t expect much of hotjoins and PvE (I am getting my mesmer to lvl 80 … about time), but if I play TPvP I DO expect people to know what is happening, being constructive … and I don’t expect to play vs exclusive Necro’s and Hammer/LB-warriors due to the current meta.

TPvP (as can hotjoins) can be an awesome experience, and most likely the best part of the game. But as many other places, the experience is what we make it. And this is perhaps where I think the game fails the most; the casuals don’t make the most of it. They/we should, but we most likely care too little about other people to take any serious steps in that direction.

Helping people to focus on how the game is played is not a punishment. Removing glory from hotjoins, only gain points from holding bases and perhaps give some little glory to only the winning team are steps that could improve the gameplay.

The current situation? Remove all ranks; reset it. Or reverse it. If we don’t do anything, the meaning of the concept is lost.

I have a question. Do you understand how every successful pvp game works?
Is you want to have lively game, you need basic thing – player pyramid.
1. ALOT of low skilled guys who casually play for fun,
2. Large group of decently skilled players who have access to almost all shiny things
3. Elite with rare titles, tons of tournament victories, unique rewards, etc.

To make this pyramid, you need easy, fun and decently rewarding mass-pvp modes for majority of PvP crowd, ability to get almost any shiny thing in reasonable time for dedicated players, and unique things for elite.
This is not that we have. sPvP in current state is grind. If you are casual, you are unable to get something decent at all, just because of rank grind amount. Thats why we have rank farm maps, and thats why they are so popular.
If you are decent, you can get some shines from tPvP and soloQ, but first – rewards are not good enough, second – population for tPvP and soloQ is miserable, due to small population of mass gamemode (hotjoin) itself.
And elite is suffering from same problems.

If we need to make sPvP popular, we need to make it rewarding, attract people here, make our pyramid large and wide.

And when i see someone asking for rewards nerf, more so – such nerfs for most basic and massive modes – i cannot express my feelings. This is beyond stupid. You killing your own game and don’t even understand it.

The pyramid you describe only works as a model if everyone is involved together in some way, the Skyhammer farm is a completely seperate thing no farmer there who is exploiting will have any input into the larger pvp scene. The skyhammer farm isnt pvp so including farmers in the “pvp community” when you say things like this is a lie.

Skyhammer farm is NOT a “mass mode” or bottom of the pryramid game mode its a seperate exploitable thing which just so happens to devalue even the casual pvpers experience.

In our personal PvP tab there is a record of tournament game wins, they should maybe introduce a new system that revolves around that and introduce it with past history included (giving a leg up to legit players to help public opinion).

Clearly this exploit must be fixed but more than that there needs to be a reward system added to the game.

This may help versus thieves however would destroy most classes especially ones which don’t have lots of passive stuff. It would also cause massive benefits to condi appliers. I know you want to buff traits too but what about classes where there are a lot of traits that are “required” like mesmers.

I would put out there again that Deceptive Evasion would be better placed in the Illusions trait line as it would free up trait points and maybe allow for trait changes to be used and absorbed by mesmers. Too many of our traits are required over many trait lines, freezing our ability to get any new traits.

If an enemy they attacked is killed outright they will rally, ranger Spirit of Nature can res them, mesmer Illusion of Life can get them up as can a few other things but these are the effects you’re most likely to see.

S/D thieves need to be destroyed sword 2 is ridiculous it counters everything without requiring anything except the button push (from escaping to chasing with 0 CD). Feline Grace to see what it does go to 1v1 arenas and just watch the energy bar of a thief, it makes me feel sick and remember the heal and sword #3 evades too and then they shortbow and spam evade more. (The 15% for Grace is 15% of the WHOLE energy bar so 30% of a dodge.)

There are thieves with feline grace and a single dagger that are able to evade and beat ppl in 1v1 arenas for hours. (While i know these thieves are good and well aquainted with the build i KNOW they arent so good that they can defeat all comers for hours on end with one weapon because they arent being helped by an OP trait.) If a thief chooses to evade everything, they can. Thats not acceptable.

Its open world, you get infinite reses, how else would you like it to have a fail condition? He can’t wipe you, do you want NPC death or turret destruction? Cause if you do that will cause a lot of hatred to go flying at the people who were assigned to guard them.

The timer is the only wipe mechanic open world can have and it adds a DPS test and excitement. It adds to the execution required too, you dont just need to attack him til he dies you need to avoid his mechanics cause if too many people keep dying you’ll miss the enrage.

Timer is good and very necessary unless you want a free kill each spawn and all that matters is if it takes 15mins or 5hours.

Timer is required because its in open world with no caps on resing. Can you imagine another fail condition? Losing too many turrets, too many deaths? <- These would cause epic snarling hatred directed at players and are a bad idea.

Timer is needed cause res run back can be done infinite times.

I loved SAB fantastic content, loved every second of delicious frustrating and laughed so hard at the yeti -> storm wizard TROLL SPIKE! Its not elitism there may be farming or SAB which are both significantly better right now than they have been for a while maybe be better suited for the people that dont want to do Tequatl.

The reason we are protective of Tequatl is we fear we wont get as impressive an ecounter next time, if the “nay sayers” have their way. Just supporting ANets CONTENT updates have been great. They do however need to work on the system they put these into Overflows and getting a place is a problem, number the overflows so ppl could choose to get organised in them. “Aaargh we’re in the wrong place!” “Its cool the group is moving into Overflow 7, someone said its almost empty – tell everyone where we’re meeting, put a not in guild chat and tell [Teq] or [TKS] lots are here if they want to join us.”

All my points still stand, get involved with a guild which does the boss, being able to take charge of the turrets with a few friends or delegate someone to do that, knowing the weakpoints randoms have and really explain it. “If you dont use the ice bow til he arrives it keeps 1 spell to use, use #4 it hurts him like it would an AC Burrow” <- they understand the burrow bit. “PICK UP ELE WEAPONS!!” as you’re coming back from battery…. TIMEWARP!

If they are on TS “STOMP INC … NOW!” and “MOVE FROM RANGED PILE! CLEANSE RANGED! STACK UP GUYS BURST DPS!!” Then really encourage the turrets while you’re away at batteries “please get those poison clouds down before we get back for a clean dps” and “GOOD JOB TURRETS!” when they do it. Get ppl excited about dealing damage to him, grabbing every buff going. Summon 2 Phantasms grab Fiery GS deselect him 4 and Blink! “BURN GUYS BURN BURN!” Call for bloodlust if it helps, get that min max and competative feeling into GWs.

Doing gives you a brilliant encounter that may be a bit wasted in an instance cause shouts of “Gandara!” at the end were great and the scale worked perfectly. I have wiped for about 4 days against him and know all the horrors that can occur, but once you get the grop who have been soaking up your words and the word of all the other ppl who have been with them each day discussing strat, builds and keeping spirits up (the waiting is dire)

I do recommend this for casuals who are willing to put a bit of effort in one evening try him 3 times with the same ppl go with friends or make them there. Cause they will ask for turret defense groups and they need volunteers and they need ppl to fight the dragon willing to take skills which help the zergs survive. Our server had a guy clear the eastern jump pad of AFK (whisp’d every single one) and sorted out his squad for defense, he had our Poison cleared coming back from batteries, those turrets functioned brilliantly under his control. And he stepped for himself because there was chaos “oh no there are too many ppl afk, oh no there are only 2 on turrerts” <- these humans are useless. Get involved (i feel im dangerously close to something here which is used to get girls at parties to drink too much. it is the followup to “man up!” isnt it?) oh never mind that but do GET INVOLVED.

That attempt we had commanders that were only dots on the map the checking of start and organisation was done by regular ppl, you can do it too. But we called cleanses, spawn’d icebows and FGSs, used stab and reflect, ran back early (1% left on eastern battery ><) and TIMEWARP! Killed him and it was awesome ^^

The people decide who wins this, you can get depressed at all the bad people or try everything to get them better, they make kitten up on the first attempt but by the third they know it. And thse ppl knowing there jobs well enough to get a kill are resources for future kills. You’ve got a legion of dpsers who have decent understanding of the wave mechanic, squads that are confident just taking over turret sections and guess what they all like to pla together cause i bet the saw progress – invite them into a guild and keep going. Its worth the experience.

Pierre Arborea, the lowest populated french server, is doing it. Not sure why the english community refuse to do it.

Because putting up a notice on the forums = people magically appear. Your point is that open world content should be design so that an individual has to go to the forums and recruit 149 other people to do it. Not saying there is anything wrong necessarily with 150 person content, but it shouldn’t be open world. Open world implies that it can be done by members of the open world. On low population servers that is just not very feasible.

No the point is that THIS open world content needs you to more than just turn up. THIS single piece of content requires you to do it, no other Open World event does, deal with it or don’t do it.

Revamping Tequatl to be impossible is fine, but don’t we need something from the Jormag vendor for our legendaries? What if your server never downs Tequatl? What if your server never downs Jormag 2.0? No more legendaries on the entire server, EVER?

Many servers never open Balthazar’s Temple and have many legendaries, they guest.
