So, we gonna start the don’t duel in WvW argument again.
I don’t care if people want to duel, I just wish they wouldn’t do it next to a major point on the map with heavy foot traffic.
My experiences have been GvG guilds that have no interest in WvW at all just fights and duelers, so many duelers often 10-30 people grouped up for duels. They sit outside Stonemist and have been trolling players actually trying to play WvW, like yesterday we had a thief and a elementalist who kept attacking the groups trying to skirt around Stonemist, and thus start a WvW players and dueler battles over and over. We keep asking them to politely move away so this stops happening, it’s a win win if they move, they don’t get disturbed and we don’t get trolled, but they generally just reply “Go bleep yourself!” Guildwars 2 has such a terrible community, but I guess that’s true for the internet in general.
I’m not that happy in T3… I’d say stay ouf of T3 unless you like GvG battles. And if you do, well T3 is the stop for you!
Yeah, with the influx if GvG players, the quality of roaming has dropped. The little GvG zerglets are rarely any good at 1v1. Or at least they aren’t when they run their cute little GvG builds.
Well they might not have the gear or build for roaming. I like play mortineer on my engineer from time to time and I always suck at 1v1 in that spec. But that’s not even a GvG build, that’s just me goofing around with a group build because it amuses me to hit things at 1500 range.
Most of the guilds I’ve encountered don’t help defend, or take structures. They just do the GvG and ignore everything else. And it has queues our maps a few times, but I guess that’s true for the other servers as well.
I mean it’s fun… a little. I grab my well necro and follow some groups around and most likely make them cry with the puglet tag along. But I like havoc a lot more.
I’m not that happy in T3… I’d say stay ouf of T3 unless you like GvG battles. And if you do, well T3 is the stop for you!
most of the servers are suffering right now and its because a combination of demoralizing issues hitting all at once.
I think it started with the poor class balance in this patch, then mike and colin telling wvw players they dont exist, follow up with the… nvr to be forgotten golem event.
sure everyones excited for the new desert bl map but then realize HoT is prolly like 8 months away still and next balance patch in 4 months.
wvw activity is at an all time low.
Or that video someone posted where they said if you were into WvW you were actually into PVE.
Hmm tough one. Probably three factions each with their own colour and players can choose which colour, or change colours once every few months. Players can only join guilds that belong to the same faction/colour, which I kind of hate, but if you can change colours you can always join your friends.
But the kicker is because the population can vary, that would mean instanced maps. Which means all that hard work you did the night before, might not even exist the next day. Instances would have to be opened and closed to balance populations. Which could mean certain colours will end up with terrible queues if too many people stacked on one colour. It also means a completely new scoring system.
It wouldn’t be the WvW we know, better or worse? No idea. But at least you’d always have players to play against. It would suck having to leave you guild to colour swap though. I think they were trying to go this way with EoTM, but it doesn’t seem to have worked out too well. I lean towards population imbalances being the biggest issue. Which I’m sure lots of people would fight me on, but if you know your outnumbered why would you bother to fight the other zergs?
I transferred from GoM, they weren’t nice people, at least the people I met. They also didn’t have much of a morning crew when I was there, so I transferred up to a server that had a stronger morning presence, but mixed bag on “nice” people. Seems to be too much guild drama on my new server…
After reading all this, I’m starting to think listing servers as full is a silly idea. The maps already have population caps, you can’t magically stuff more people into WvW. If they want 2 hour WvW queues let them, and we all know best coverage wins so let them have their coveragewars. It seems like we reversed it, instead of punishing WvW populations for high PVE populations, now we are punishing casual WvWers and PVErs who want to be on the same server as their friends and families. Sure you can still play with them in PVE via mega servers, but they’ll never get to enjoy WvW or probably even EotM(since colours need to match up) with their family or friends. That seems silly to punish servers with big fat communities. Unless it’s causing damage to the servers, like overloading them, who cares? I don’t. I transferred up aiming for high silver with good coverage, because I don’t often play at NA times and I was tired of empty maps. I aimed a bit poorly because we are Tier 3 now, but oh well. At least there’s people!
Well at least you can cheaply transfer off to another “medium” server. Which I know is terrible, killing WvW communities and such. But I agree with you, I thought it was bullpoopy to put those servers as “medium”.
I think the only thing I’d add is how expensive certain sigil and runes are, which could fall under rewards or gear. Most of them aren’t used in PVE, but are from old events and you can no longer get them and/or the recipes to make them. It seems weird to me to have builds with a gold requirement attached to them. Sure there are alternatives, but you generally don’t want to the second best option when you are fighting other players. Add in the fact you can’t salvage WvW gear anyway, so you have run a crafted set or buy it, just so you can salvage it later. Like look at the cost of a Sigil of Generosity, Torment, or Bursting? Or Perplexity runes. And then their’s the price of food.
I wouldn’t say I’m not buying the expansion because of one week, but that week was the last straw. It’s a long list of things I love and hate about this game, but a lot of it I tolerate. GW2 has a lot of really great potential, but I often think it squanders that potential. I was hoping the expansion would improve things,. At this point asking me to cough up 50 bucks for a game “I love, but tolerate” is asking a bit too much. Ball is in your court Anet.

Once a cheater, always a cheater. Just my take on it.
I honestly don’t care if it is a bug, working as intended (which I doubt), or exploit. When people stoop to that level of play the overall format of play is broke. No different than when we’d see Radar users in DaOC or other speed hacks. Furthermore, this isn’t he or she is doing it I need to in order to compete.
Basically what we are left with is a half baked event that they patched in and let ride for a week. No thought of what may or may not happen let alone any follow up. Just drop and go…
Fine by me. Got more stuff done this week than normal (better half is happy) and I didn’t pre-order. In fact – I don’t plan to. Is 50 to 100 bucks a big deal to the company? Probably not. Is 200 bucks a big deal (2 players in house), probably not. So really when I look at it, my 200 potential bucks and complaints mean nothing at the end of the day.
Happy Friday all – hope you have a good weekend.
You can add me to that list. If they don’t ban the exploiters and announce they did so, no names, just a statement that says they don’t tolerate this kind of a behavior, I’m out. I don’t think I even died to anyone using the exploit, but the fact there are YouTube videos of these people running the buff and bragging about it, pushes it too far. <insert can’t deal with it llama here>
Well Crystal Desert seems to not tolerate our own players using the exploit.
Right now I am sitting in spawn as a Maguuma guild full of exploit users are spawn camping and near 1 shotting everyone. This is ridiculous and makes the best feature about GW2 a complete joke.I have taken multiple screenshots.
I do not understand how this is not fixed and makes me question my purchase of HoT as it seems there is no support for this game anymore.
High five for CD! Also ignore the forum trolls, just shoo him. Or just spout gibberish at him like I did with the last one. Good for a laugh, dem trolls.
I will say this, I’m sale baby, and I’m flat out unimpressed. I’m a hair from walking away. Every update and event, because these are the first I’ve seen in 6 months of playing, have been riddled with bugs and exploits. And the worst part? Exploiters aren’t punished. I am disappoint.
No you weren’t joking. You were being a serious PPT Tryhard bragging about winning a match-up no one is trying to win.
Wow really? I’m so glad I have someone like you who knows me so well, better than I know myself! All from three posts on a forum! I’m impressed, do you read palms too?!
If there is no future in WvW what game should we play? Thats my issue. Im tired of all the frustration just like everyone but having a hard time finding a decent replacement to gw2 wvw. Eso AvA and archeage pvp were huge letdowns.
Wildstar’s Warfront dealies sounded so promising and interesting. Pity that game flopped so hard. =(
I know hon
I was being tryhard!
I’m sorry, I get too literal sometimes. =( I can be a killjoy.
THIS JUST IN!:
NOW WE WAIT TILL FRIDAY!lol, when the event was scheduled to end anyhow
That’s the joke =P
Seriously, take guild group in, 20 or so is a good number. Look for swords, go to swords, wait for the wall/gate to be breached, Run in and destroy everyone who is focusing so kitten the boss that they don’t even fight you, finish boss and take structure. The opposing colors will have to fight you then, or else they never have a chance at any loot.
But that’s just fighting disorganized groups of pugs and uplevels. You have the advantage. Your group is experienced, geared, and communicating. That’s not even remotely why I joined the WvW community.
I joined because players are more challenging to play against than NPCs. WvW will be dead to me if it fails to give me challenges. The best fights, for me, are the fights when you barely succeed or fail. Running that razor edge is so thrilling.
Yay, I leveled a character in about 4 days of casual play. I know a few people who did it in 12 hours with boosters.
Boo, golem exploits. Way to cheat us out of some good fair fights.
Boo, golem week is ktrain week. Finally get to T3, and what do we get? More ktrains!
I can still say, I’d like to see more events in WvW. Something to spice up WvW which can get a little stale or boring. Just not… super golem week.

If you’re gonna retaliate a fight vid with a link to a ppt scoreboard during golem week, I think there’s something to be said.

I don’t know about him, but I’m just joking around since he’s all “I’m so awesome for using the golem buff!” Hoping next reset is more challenging, since so far the most challenging thing has been SBI and Mag harassing CD with the golem buff, which is very disappointing. I had such high praise for one of their guild groups until they came back the next day with the buff.
From reading about the bans and such lately, it seem that they ban the exploiter of the past for doing it to often. once or twice was ok, cause you might not been knowing it, or catching it, but doing it, over and over that you have to known it, that where you get in trouble.
While i not seen this golem bug, is it easy to tell your effected by it, like are there signs?
They’ll have a buff that looks like a plug while outside of a golem. Everyone can see it, friend or foe. It’s easy to miss it, even on yourself. I got it in EoTM and I have no idea how long I had been running with it. But you can clear it by either exiting WvW or getting in and out of a golem.

Mag eh? And here CD is whooping you
Edit: Ehmry Bay put up a better fight than you did. For shame.
Everyone qqing over this is looking at it from the wrong perspective.
Think of it this way: anyone can utilize the buff. Think of it like guard stacks, food buff, or sigil stack. Put in the time and get that buff for yourself. Its your fault for not evolving with the rest of us.
Mag eh? And here CD is whooping you, while we actively report our own teammates for using the buff and you guys sit there losing even with the buff. We were all excited for T3 too… disappointing match up /nod
“Fairness in competitive play is something we believe in very strongly at ArenaNet . . .” – Josh Davis, ArenaNet
Proof Anet lies =P
An OG Guild group tagged up with pugs tried to bag farm in eotm and got wrecked by an enemy zerg. They waypointed back to spawn and all did the golem exploit to get an advantage. I recorded them all on camera and even told them but they kept using the exploit citing that they aren’t going to get banned.
Sadly, I doubt they will be.
Edit: It is easy to mess up and get the buff though. I did in in EOTM and didn’t notice. Getting in and out of a golem cleared it though.
In short, NSP created T4 disparity and were happy with easy wins, when things got tough they tucked tail and ran.
There’s a few of us on CD that think that’ll be us when we hit T3.
I haven’t seen any focusing on EB, but I also don’t play 24/7. Most mornings the group I run with were hitting NSP borderlands trying to waypoint their keeps for kicks. I know last night we were running in EB BL, but that’s because EBG had a queue, and NSP was already half our colour. EB ended up trying to hold back 3 different groups of us trying to find some fights. It ended up working well, splitting forces and such. That didn’t stop CoT or WOE from rolling out and spanking us a few times. NSP pulled in their skill group too, and it just became such a mess, but a great fun mess. Last night had some amazing fights.
So in short, I don’t think we’re focusing you, but I do not speak for CD. I’m just and underling. The reality is we have a pretty large coverage on CD. It’s not uncommon to see a tag or even multiple tags on each map. For me, originally a bronze bandwagoning up, it’s shocking. I’d barely find one tag to run with on all maps, and now there’s multiples?!
Also COT, is a beast. You should be proud.
I wrote up a bunch of things to help you out, but instead wrote this due to your sarcasm and rudeness towards another forum member for taking his time to help you.
Definitely turned a valid complaint into what looks like a troll post.
I have a theory they are trying to reduce the amount of golem siege and make them rarer.
Or you know it’s just fun insanity, because we normally don’t get fun insanity in WvW.
There’s a super expensive gem store item, the upgrade extractor, but it’s cheaper just to buy 6 new travelers runes. The extractor costs 250 gems and I think it’s one use, so you’d need 6. =( It’s really dumb. I only buy the cheapest runes I can afford at the moment since my gear is generally WvW or Karma gear.
It is stupid, but it’s really your only option. You need about 300g to transfer off if you aim for buying gems at 16 to 17g, and thus 1800 gems unless you get lucky and your target realm’s population drops a bit instead of saying “Very High”.
It is possible a influx of players from HoT will help boost the numbers on your server up.
I recently bailed on my server. I feel terrible about, but I was so tired of so few people being around to play with. I rarely get to play at prime time, so I really wanted a server with a heavy morning crew. I think I found it. Ask me again in a few weeks. Hopefully the server doesn’t implode and I didn’t waste that 300g-ish for nothing.
Well, actually CD will probably move up next week so they might become the bottom of their new tier.
If their are people that actually play during the day instead of like 5 people… that be cool. But grass is always greener on the other side.
That’s HK, beating them is simple enough:
1. Find their commander, probably Shintto
2. Driver snipe him 3-4 times
3. He will rage quit
4. His blob dispersesIt always works.
I’ll have to keep that in mind. Thank you.
According to this, I should bandwagon onto CD because they have coverage at all times, thus people to play with on my wonky schedule. And are top of their tier.
snip
And we have ridiculously broken stuff in all 3 game modes, including those guardians overruning doors. :S*Those guardians overrunning doors thinking they are doing nothing wrong, abusing an exploit on seriously large scales.
I hate this, people keep defending their actions. No it’s an exploit, and you’re a jerk for using it. It’s a bit harder with grenade kit, since that’s one of the main kits of engineer. But I chose not use it at all on mine. I went mortar in WvW and ran around a bit. I’d rather be kitten than use a broken skill. But that’s me.
In short, Anet fix it already! Fix the symbol bug and the grenade piercing damage!
If you’ve ever used the arrow cart exploit to clear siege inside a tower, it’s effectively the same thing. And if you’re from Borlis Pass, Kaineng or Sanctum Of Rall, three servers quite fond of doing this, I don’t think you have any room to speak.
I have not use it, nor am I from those servers. I have seen people say “Let me use it, I can hit it.” And then I get angry think I should leave because I know they are exploiting. But I imagine every server does it. And no one really cares if I slam my foot and say “NOT OKAY!” I’m just the one everyone rejects because I don’t conform.
(edited by Coyote.7031)
The main problem I see with eotm is JQ server bag farming, it turns a lot of new people off the the prospects of ever going wvw so we loose out, sure, cant stop 20+ lvl 80 killing inexperienced low lvl characters. But we should get rid of eotm completely
I guess that’s what’s going? I’ve been trying to do EoTM to get to 80 on my engineer all week and get a few extra badges for some quick gear, but OG is hunting relentlessly. Every time we came out to capture a point we’d die either on the champion or at the door, if we didn’t run away first. Eventually everyone gave up and left. I feel weird complaining about PVP in EotM. That’s what you’re supposed to do, but it also seems grossly unfair. We wiped them once in our keep, which was the best feeling ever. But most of the time it was 20 versus 60. And even if you don’t have up levels in a group, that’s a fight you aren’t going to win.
If anything it really encourages players to swap sides and go Green or to bandwagon on to stronger servers. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ’em. I’m seriously thinking of bandwagoning to an always green server higher up the tier now. Why? I don’t have time for this. I’m not going to waste my playtime being someone else’s bag. Fair fights, or I’ll stack on the side that wins.
i must have been freaking blind or something cause i had this equipped and didn’t notice a kitten thing…
You wouldn’t have noticed it solo. The 10% damage increase applies to every symbol you stand in, even other guardians. So until you are running with a group of guardians, you wouldn’t notice it. And thus you can see why guardians were stacking them and killing a gate in 16 seconds.

How do you test a player-created meta?
That would be difficult, but they could test things like piercing grenades, stacking damage on symbols, and similar bugs. I’m surprised some of these made it through to live.
but you killed it through neglect and an open transfer policy. Sad, the new maps are far too late and do nothing to solve the real problems…. But you are making an insane amount of money, based on the rate that large guilds jump from server to server….
So many evidence: I wish more people could see that too.
Tin foil hat, I think the bean counters control Anet… And now someone will say I’m anti-profit or something.
Could a thief solo a keep before or now? Probably not by their self no. Could a Mesmer go die in a great place hidden inside of inner and wait for the perma-stealthed thief to come res him then go port the entire Zerg in? Yup lol. Thieves can be just as bad as mesmers because they can res any dead inside if they were smart enough to die in a good place and then before you know it the tower you thought was clear is full of enemy inc all over again. Thieves may not be able to bring the port to the Zerg themselves but they’ve always been able to bring the Mesmers who could back up.
If you are leaving a mesmer who hasn’t waypointed that’s asking to lose your keep. If he’s still there, that should be a redflag that he’s not alone. And he’s forced to waypoint after 5 minutes, so you only have to guard the corpse for 5 minutes.
BAsically getting into close combat is no longer viable at all.
If you have a long ranged squishy high damage class, and short ranged tanky class. Who wins out? Well they’d be even matched in this circumstance. But what happens if you stack squish? The squish wins, because they can nuke anyone before they get close enough. This is a problem in a lot of games. You need counter mechanics like spell reflects, shields, stealth, terrain, etc.
And let’s not forget there are still a number of broken skills right now, grenades piercing, symbols, etc. So it’s really hard to tell what are unbalances and an abuse of in game bugs (not saying people should be banned or every engineer is exploiting if they have grenades.) Going to be a rough few weeks while they iron it all out I guess.
It really depends on the players on the map, I’ve actually seen the CMD hunt down and win over enemy zerg, and then have the players complain that there isn’t enough karma training and capping structures.
But I agree that EotM can be really fun when you find a map with WvW based guilds. Especially love when I find a fighting guild goofing around because bored of own match-up.
If your skipping objectives to hunt, I can see people having an issue with that. It’s really a fine balance of bread and circuses in EoTM. Even a small screw up to a few people becomes a big deal. So I can see why many commanders are wary. But I’ve seen that happen even in WvW. Commander messes up and someone starts mouthing off. I really don’t like when the WvW purebloods complain about EoTM that it’s brainless and evil. It just sounds so elitist. It can be so much fun and a great place to train people in the basics.
So I ran in to defend someone outside of bay and they said “Dueling stop.” So I stopped, apologized, and went to go take the sentry and the camp back… and guess what? The duelers jumped me at the sentry while my server watched. I really hate my server…
indeed. before patch it required 1 thief and a mesmer to stay perma stealth and portal zerg back in. now it requires….gasp… the same. or 2 mesmers can now do it. still requires same amount of people as before patch.
Ps. would like to say i main mesmer and would be happy with pu nerf so i dont have to run it in roaming.(also 72 second cd on mass invis with trait)
Oh I know. Just pointing out that mesmers are more dangerous than a thief in a keep. A thief might ambush a few people, but a mesmer could bring a whole zerg in. Engineers have that reveal trait now, so at least there’s a counter. Might still be tricky to catch them if their good though.
Thieves don’t have portals though. I can see a mesmer group being perma stealthed inside an enemy keep being an issue. Provided they can really keep that 100% up. It would make sweeping pointless because they can just keep moving and avoiding the sweep. Thieves are a bit squishy so even if they stay in a keep it takes a good one to take out a lord solo.
I am best EotM commander. Last time when i was commander we did defend FR keep over 3.5 hours. Didn’t leave keep at all because good commander always defend stuff.
Man wish I could have been there, I want to see all the poor k-trainers rage for someone defending blue keep.
So I’ve mentioned this before, but I have been in EoTM with commanders who treat it like WvW and even on an uplevel had tons of fun. We defended, we claimed, we wiped zergs, and all thanks to a few very talented players. And no one complained. I am of the opinion people only complain after wipes and deaths or boredom. If you’re successful and give people lots of siege and baggies, they are more than happy to defend. But no one wants to stand in the keep sleeping for 20 minutes waiting for the zerg to come.
I had more fun with those commanders than I do on my own WvW maps. I really should’ve add them as a friend and stalked them. They are my heroes.
Must be a complicated fix. Changing a few numbers is easy.
