Damage and Critical damage works the exact same way on sPvP.
Only PvE and WvW got affected.

I came back and oh the horror, Anet nerfed direct dmg and buffed condis even more. Why? What is wrong with Anet, there were so many complains about condis and immobs in particular back then, why were they buffed even more?

Other classes already can do the spike. It’s called FGS + Blink/Shadowstep/Judges Intervention. They just need an ele to conjure the sword. Other classes could have other powerful effects instead of what the ele does. The necro for example has Lich Form where they can spam one for 30 seconds and do loads of damage. It’s pretty incredible point denial.

You can stop it……..with any cc, its far from instant fairly long cast(2s???) even with a obvious sound and then the damage is delayed lol ( wont help treb but a person can move) . the one that evades is the whirl.
You play a thief, silvari? ….. don’t wait till the ele is all the way up to treb before you get off it , you can force arcane shield/immunity before they even get there then just head shot when you hear/see it.. tons of ways to stop this tbh.
It should probably be nerfed for pve (who cares) . Only OP part about the rush is killing the lord in foefire (pve).

It’s a l2p thing. Notice your opponent has retal and don’t spam your multi-hit attacks.
so don’t attack them while they are killing you… great idea /clap
it might be fine for CD based retal, but retal from traits like spiked armor is pretty much permanent…
i don’t think retal needs nerf, i think passives that cause it need to be toned down or changed they don’t garantee almost 100% uptime with almost no active gameplay involved

I don’t think that retal itself is that bad, rather passive things that trigger it like spiked armor where warrior literary doesn’t have to do anything to trigger it…
in generall passive gameplay should be less rewarding than active (for example, HS passive heal should be less rewarding than active warrior heals)… in many cases atm it is not so, sadly -_-

As for one-shotting players…sorry what? If you’re referring to Rush + Lightning Flash trick, the AoE is absolutely tiny. If the target even moves a few inches they will be out of it, moving targets are out of the question (and everyone is always moving). Whoever dies to FGS should feel bad.You are missing a few key facts about GW2 PvP.

Downed Bodies don’t move that much. Neither do the people reviving them until it’s too late. When someone dunks a downed body with the PISTOL WHIP, there are going to be tons of frustrated players. This is a fact. Thank god there are so many THIEVES that are coordinated (lol) enough to do this, it is quite common. It pretty much took THIEVES becoming a FOTM profession where there are 2 per team in order to recognize that this is a VERY dangerous mechanic and should be tweaked.

FGS should be fixed before they fix elementalist as a whole. The class is currently in a bad state but if it ever became stronger in TPVP you’d see more FGS abuse on downed bodies and that one particular skill could turn out to be as much cancer as any of the other terribads things about this game PVP.
The FGS is used as part of Dungeon speed runs and destroying objects quickly in WvW and sPvP. They are significant parts of the game, and would have been dealt with if it were a bug. While you claim it’s a bug, other people claim it’s a feature.
FGS is the single most overpowered skill in PVE. If you’re going to mention PVE there’s even more reason there to nerf it than in PVP. Literally the corner stone of any speedrun is stacking ele with FGS and pressing 4 in corners. So great, much gameplay, wow. This isn’t to say I never used FGS in PVE, I did, but it’s not my job to balance the game, it’s anet’s. I’ll play whatever is most efficient, it’s not the player’s job to kitten himself with subpar specs or group compositions, it’s anet’s job to do something about overpowered skills. FGS deals absolutely abnormal damage and you’d have to be seriously blind to think fiery rush has any place in a balanced game. This game PVE is a serious joke when literally any dungeon boss (fractals not included) melts in under 3 seconds from a party’s worth of FGS spam.
Speed runs will happen with or without FGS. FGS shaves some time off of speed runs, but isn’t the cornerstone of making them viable.
As far as PvP goes it’s a 1-2 time small area spike over the course of able to be done on 3 minute intervals. It’s not a staple throughout combat. The most viable use of the combo is vs someone who is downed, which isn’t even always possible because LF isn’t always off CD.
Regardless of how abnormal it’s damage, that combo isn’t pulled off very often in PvP. When it is pulled off, it can be a big momentum swing like a safety or blocked kick returned for a touchdown in american football or a grand slam in baseball or a hole in one in golf. Those events are abnormal in their respective sports, yet they’re exciting to watch. From an esports perspective something like the FGS and LF combo as it currently behaves is important.
kk, let’s give every class every 3 min chance to hit 1-2 times for unstoppable 20k+ dmg… justified by CD yo
as far as treb goes, once again it does matter if one team can treb at begin of the match and other can’t… even if i see FGS comming i can’t stop ele from insta destroying treb

Pretty sure it’s a legitimate strategy or it’d be nerfed by now. When someone pulls it off on me, I have to give them kudos because it’s not easy to do.
Also there’s burning speed, burning retreat (staff), and burning retreat (lava axe) that do the same thing.
they didn’t fix stuck /dance bug and its been around forever… so i wouldn’t rely on “what is not fixed is fine”

this game had great potential but never became what it should have been, it causes more frustration/boredom than fun so people left for good or untill the whole system got improved by a lot (if ever)…
i personally just log to do daily and then go back to play legaue, at least that game is somehow balanced and has decent pvp system… as much as i love gw2 art, grafics, ideas, combat system, races, profs, LS etc…. pvp itself is not fun even though it is main reason i started to play this game -_-

money people don’t care about such kind of stuff, we are nothing but “loot bags” for them basically
when you go farm gold in game, do you care about NPCs or players in wvw? nah, you just want loot/money…. same goes for them, they just want our money and will choose the most efficient method for it – least investment, most profit aka pve
pvp requires a lot of development but effect is not as visible, besides the truth is, only so many ppl enjoy pvp regardless how good it is… go to TC DR and ask roleplayers or players from pve guilds like DnT, why don’t they pvp
people don’t want to try, they just want to log in game, kill some NPCs, get some shiney armor and feel good about themself while sitting afk in LA…
in pvp you won’t always win since you are facing players and not NPCs that are designed to die, so pvp is bound to cause frustration and you actually have to invest some time into getting better etc. before you can win and tbh in many cases you will still lose because there is always someone better than you… most people don’t want it
bottom line you can invest 300k into pve and make 70% of population interested in playing or you can invest same money to improve pvp and it will be still only 10% of population who will appreciate it and probably only 1/3 of them will buy stuff from gem store

stealth classes are so much easier to deal with in this game, you can still hit stealthed thief, you can still use spells w/o target (at least most of them)
i am personally more frustrated with tanks doind almost as much dmg as glass cannons (sup warriors, hello condi tanks).. kind of kills whole purpose of playing direct dmg build/class
but seeing as anet keeps handling tanks/condi classes/builds more stuff and nerfing direct dmg over and over i am guessing we should just all reroll or quit this game

d/p #3 should work. You could also burn utility shadow step or steal, but not a good idea since the chill will affect that.
If you’re an elementalist letting your opponent stack enough chilled on you to put your fire grab on a 45 second CD you’re doing it wrong. Thief lacks out-of-stealth condi removal, and is forced into spending 5 initiative to remove one at a time on one certain weapon outside of stealth.
I’m not sure if people use shadows embrace these days, but Withdraw is a fairly viable way to remove chilled and most tpvp thieves carry it. You also have lyssa runes.
And lol @forced to lyssa runes. Thieves are forced to it only because it is so kittening good thanks to the short cool down of the venom.
d/p 3 would bring you out of stealth, so you would have revealed debuff and won’t be able to execute bs
steal/shs or any kind of teleports move you to old position of the target, meaning if target is moving and you are chilled, by the time your character was moved to new position your target is already out of range
lyssa is actually really kittenty for thieves outside of 6th bonus and only reason it is taken is because of condi clean; there are too many condis flying around atm and most of them are impossible to avoid since they are either applied through AA (hi scepter) or massive persistent aoe (hello warriors)
honestly, why don’t you just ask anet to remove every weapon skill and utlity from thief and rename them into “walking loot bag”… this topic is filled with posters who don’t even play a thief but are arrogant enough to assume they could make any good suggestion on how to nerf the class even further

thief already loses ini when interrupted, any ini los is basically a CD on every weapon spell not just 1 including opportunity costs…. any more nerfs to ini los would just cause dmg buff to skills otherwise they would be too weak…. i would rather not deal with more dmg
i personally don’t see any issue with interrupting thieves, the important ones would be interrupt on BP+ HS and heal and those already punish them really hard, any more is just uncalled for imo
