OP, are you trying to make braindead specs (p/p, s/p) even more braindead? Do you even realize how much dmg and CC those 2 builds would put out if your suggestion was implemented….?
Besides, d/p doesn’t get stealth for free, it is whole 9 ini, if you deny them that, they are pretty much screwed…. even if they managed to go stealth there are plenty of way to pressure them to play passive…it is way easier to predict where d/p thief went than d/d for example simply becuse of dat red circle on the floor.
D/P has to deal with same disadvantage as d/d: they have to go in melee to do any meaningful dmg thus putting themself in the dager of getting aoed/cleaved to death.

This belongs to WvW forums as much as it does to ele/warrior/guardian/ranger/mesmer/engi/necro forums.
OP, it was said by ANET when the game was just hatched from the egg and the sky shined gold(release of the game), that the stealth “weakens” when damaged, but sadly it doesn’t do it. So it was on their mind at least. Hopefully what you ask happens. Some kind of counter play would be nice. I do know CC works pretty good but it’s exactly like fighting an invisible enemy.

Facts:
- Necros who play full MM have no reliable condition cleanse. They must either be running dagger offhand (Deadly Swarm can be dodged/reflected, has an obvious animation), and/or use staff (marks are dodge/blocked even easier).
- Blood Fiend is their main life line. Kill that and he’ll have a hard time healing. Has a 20 sec cd (16 sec when traited but then they don’t have Staff Mastery or Greater Marks which makes it easier to deal with their marks) and a whopping 1 and a half sec cast time (might as well scream “INTERRUPT ME PLOX” and put a giant red bullseye on the necro).
- Minions suffer from horrible ai, tend to cluster together so AOE IS YOUR FRIEND.
- Like their masters, minions suffer from what is know in the necro community as the “ping-pong effect”, so cc them at your hearts content. Only Flesh Golem get’s stability for 15 secs when using Charge (which can be stripped or stolen for your personal use).
- The act of Moa, Lich and Plague removing all minions is a bug and is known by the devs. It’s not a “feature”. As with most major necro bugs, we’ll be having a fix for that in a year or so * cough * ds utility bug * cough *
So instead of screaming “l2p / l2dodge / OP QQ ehuehuehue” learn the class and contribute to the topic.
And as far as “relying on ai” goes, mesmers are one to talk, their entire class is based around the ai of clones and phantasms.
i am sorry, my alt for ranked is mm necro and IT IS braindead build, effective for home bunkering and countered by massive aoe but still braindead
yes, moa is annoying but i think since when any class gets moa’d and can’t use any spells so shouldn’t necro… your pets got detroyed? too bad….when you get moa’d as ele or thief you usually just die due to low HP pool… at least you keep your high HP pool as necro and have chance to survive
what really would help though is to make moa skill not usable while stealthed, so player at least has chance to dodge it

it offers amazing verticall mobility on maps like khylo

you win for a while and then you keep getting 4v5 with lv 5-15noobs vs lv 60s on skyhammer non stop, i am saldy not even extraggerating… so no point giving rewards for soloq imo

eles are not weak, it is just some other classes/spells need to be toned down imo
if there was less condis and CCs (especially in aoe form) flying around, i think eles would be in better spot
eles, mes and thieves have about same role, the only reason why mes and thieves somehow doing better is because their defensive mechanics are based around avoiding dmg while eles is around healing/mitigating it… it doesn’t work so well in current meta though

it is very buggy and doesn’t work in 99% of the time, due to bad aim, invisible objects on skyhammer map, doing only knockdown if you hit someone with it out of stealth or out of combat…
to make it work, enemy needs to stand still (best on hammer itself), you need to be in stealth and do following:
stealth -> use either sb AA or immob or headshot for example, and then scrop wire right away… only way to work it really
if enemy is moving it will miss 100% of the time
i honestly don’t understand how they managed to make engi pull work 100% of the time (unless target dodges) but scorp wire is absolute garbage
but then again tow line is most useless stupid skill in game that didn’t get fixed since launch so no surprise

imo, pvp system itself is lacking, in many ways hence why community is small
in wow for example you would almost never see ppl crying too much about maps or modes in pvp forums; usually it was about certain classes being OP or exploits etc.
same goes for legaue forums
(certanly, those 2 games also have their share of map complains but not as often as in this game)
look at gw2 pvp forums, it consists of
- remove skyhammer
- fix spirit watch
- add more game modes
- more rewards plz
- 4v5, how to report
- all is vain
etc.
clearly, pvp system itself is lacking… a lot + wvw taking certan share of pvp interested players away also has its impact
i joined this game few months ago, only reason i decided to play it was pvp; i love the fact that you don’t need to grind gear, i love the fact that devs don’t completely neglect class balance in pvp (like it is the case in other games); i love dynamic and how much more team oriented pvp in this game is…but i was really really surprised how undeveloped system is…
- skyhammer needs to go from soloq or have option to remove it
- spirit watch orb should make you unable to use invul like and any super movement (hi GS) spells
- there should be at least pvp lv 10 requirement for ranked
- this game needs ready button and option to report afkers/trolls etc.
- more maps
- mode game modes
- better rewards: let us trade glory for karma/gold/crafting mats; let players get certain weapon skins that are only obtainable in pvp but can be used in pve etc etc.
the list is long and many suggestions been made
back to topic, i honestly wouldn’t be surprised if pvp community would be around 5-10k

I do not support rank requirements into getting into tournaments. This goes against the heart of the game in regards to PvP with everything being accessible from the start.
If you are actually good in PvP eventually your MMR will rise to the point where having a low level in your team is not frequent.

I keep hearing about all these multiple ways to counter stealth and yet no single example has been given… Enlighten me: the only counter I know of stealth (other than obviously to prevent it through cc/stun/daze) is to AoE damage like a kitten in the hopes that the Thief is stupid enough to stay around and die to your blind AoE.

This game seriously needs map awarness tutotrial. People don’t know timers, ppl don’t know what buffs do, ppl don’t know that zerging far won’t do much if you keep dying there, ppl don’t understand that ignoring home at begin gonna cause a los etc.
Apparently conquest is not so intuitive for average Joe. WTB in game tutorials and ready button.

You cannot stack torment in a fast way. Six stacks are already very high. As long as you can’t reach 15-20 stacks in a reliable way torment will remain quite harmless.

Using a game mode to justify class balance is inadequate.
When team death match is implemented, then what? Is it still okay then?
tbh i doubt that in deathmatch ppl would run thieves since they drop like flies
in any game i have played that had death match mode, you usually wanted to run bruisers or high CC dmg + support… i believe necros, engis, wars and guards would be the thing

edit: would be really nice if skyhammer controll panel itself wouldn’t put you in combat since apprently it is an object like treb… so sometimes you get reveleaed because it was on the way you hit it; same things happens with very middle of point A and C hence why you get obstructed sometimes…there is some invisible object that might cause revealed
