usually reasons i kick people for is
1. they don’t listen and just charge in when fractal actually requires you to follow certain mechanics/rules
2. they have no experience, don’t know what to do, just screw your entire group over and over and once again, don’t listen
you can have most amazing dps ever (i wonder how you know your dps, i assume 3rd party software that is forbidden actually) but if you attack ooze while it is on defensive thus wiping group or kill chanter thus causing whole group of chanters spawn and heal seal… then i would probably boot you

This only applies to bad pvpers though. If a skilled team or a skilled mesmer morphs you, they can easily down you and prevent you from being able to escape with use of gap closers.
that can happen with about any elite really… engi drops crate or lich hits you (through the wall too because logic)
even if you do get downed you still have team to support you, if you did die you can still rotate somewhere…. there are far worse things than long CD polymorph, imo
P.S. can’t believe i am actually defending mesmers…. never saw that comming

as posted on other threads: once you reach above 50% win rate the game tries to bring you back to 50% and stacks all odds against you… so no matter in what tier you would fight, you would alway experience same effect
only way to counter is: make a full group of top players, put them in ts and farm everyone~

Half of the changes proposed don’t even change mechanics but just indicator for better visibility of traits/skills. How is it over the top, please explain. You can see eles attunments, you can see revealed debuff on thieves, you can see warrior stances, but omg seeing engi kits would actually make them unplayable?

- necro puts chill on you

oh and btw that chill also reduces range on your attacks by 200% just to get the same feel

mmmm let’s see….. so i use bp+ hs to gain stealth, that is 9 ini gone… for some measy 3k backstab (that if i actually get behind target, not get killed in meanwhile by aoe and that bs actually crits)…. now i can’t use most of my spells anymore no matter what weapon set i switch to for a while….
what you basically suggest is: if let’s say necro is chilled then all his weapon spells (including ds, lich etc.) get put on CD no matter weither he used them or not yet
why can’t you stop throwing tantrum over thieves claiming they are “unfair” and “op” w/o actual evidence and actually try to play one vs any decent team
and you know what the joke is? every single person i met QQing about thieves and that actually had balls to try out one, cried 5 min later how hard that class is to play

not to mention, that nowdays thanks to all that aoe spams, blocks, blinds, protection etc. the main dmg is already comming from AA… so yeah let’s apply chilling to ini so thieves are nothing but AA… oh wait, then you gonna cry even more about sigil procs~

yes, thief can be good in good hands, but risk vs reward is extremely high and even skill floor is anything but low…. so untill other classes have same correlation between risk and reward, it just absurd to cry for more nerfs for class that was nerfed every single patch for 2 years straight
oh and i forgot to mention… you don’t like thieves? bring guardian, they can be keyboardturner, clicker, don’t know what their spells do, playing game by drooling on keyboard and still win vs good thieves because hardcounter at it’s finest

I see complaints about skills such as slick shoes. What strikes me as odd about that, is that the skill functions precisely as it did on release. So why did no complaints about this skill arise until recently?

As far as slick shoes goes, i already explained why functionality needs to be changed. Again for you specially, since apprently you can’t read: stability mechanics got changed and slick shoes became too strong with that change.
Transmute can screw all your stacks of bleeding because you applied one more, it is stupid as hell.
Nope. Transmute is about the only exception to condi clears; it acts on a single condi application, not a stack. If you apply 3 bleeds, transmute converts one and you still apply 2.
The problem with transmute is that it affects CC conditions like immobilize and fear and you have no idea when it’s up. The simple fix is to make it not affect CC conditions, possibly with a lower ICD. Lessening damaging conditions is still pretty good for a minor trait.
i think it would be helpful to have an icon for that too…. that way classes like necro for example wouldn’t waste their fear

My unbiased opinion:
I main a guard, and stealth always irritated me. Whenever a thief would stealth and run, I’d call cheese. How irritating, right?
Two days ago I made a thief, and I’ve already realized how essential stealth is. Thieves are trading a lot to have the ability to stealth: they are a melee class with low health, low armor, and abysmal condi clear. Whereas rangers and guardians can go invincible for a few seconds to take the pressure off, thieves have stealth (but can die quite easily in stealth). Most of their weapon sets are useless in the current meta, so evades cant make up for it (I’m looking at sw/d).
If they are running from you and are about to die, either: (1) you outnumber them, in which case, who wouldn’t run?; and (2) they can’t kill you in a 1v1, but then why should you be able to kill a thief 100%? Shouldn’t it be 50% in a balanced game? They are a zerker class, after all. Running=draw=balanced.
Add to that: no thieves use speed/traveler runes, which means if they want to keep up their famous mobility in or out of stealth, they need to be spending initiative, dodges, or utility cooldowns. Those all need to be balanced to maintain mobility but also be ready for a fight.
So coming from an entirely different class and just playing thief for 2 days, I have to say: stop complaining about stealth. It’s not cheese.
I LOVE finding new thief players. Nothing makes me more giddy then finding a player who just started on their thief thinking they are going to PWNNOOBSOMGBBQSAUCE
After a good beating i tend to then teach them how to play thief, and they all say the exact same thing:
“This is so hard”
i just had exactly same experience… a guildmate decided to play a thief, i tried to teach him some things and at the end he said something like this: wow, people say engis and eles are hard to play… but omg thieves are impossible… how can one even play this?

i think thieves are nasty in good hands but that’s the point, you need to be good player to make thief work; you don’t need to be amazing to be effective on warrior or ele tho :/

You make the whole trickery line baseline like that now well have DA,SA,Acro thieves. Which, IMO, would be amazing but only for us thieves.

When you compare Kleptomanic to 25% more daze, dps, confusion, and invul….making sleight of hand a base line trait seems justified.
I think the only way to improve the class is to ask for stuff and in this case it is reasonable because they are giving it to another class to improve build diversity. Can’t wait for dev to figure it out. Remember…the dev nerfed S/D’s #3 because they said it was too OP to IF, IR, then steal/IS to secure a stomp….(facepalm). You have to take their hand and walk with them….

its normal to struggle against comdi/sustain builds as dps guard. (condi) engis, dd ele and shoutwars are your counter in 1v1. however you can win against bad engis. You need the better opening. so jump him with burst. You need to keep the engi pressured and try to cleanse the burn(ip). you have about 4-5 IP procs you can cleanse/survive. after that he needs to die or you will

I have done pretty much all content this game has to offer on this account, been on speed runs countless times, used to do daily lv 50 fractals, daily aether, have legendaries/ascended armor yada yada etc.
Made new account for NA (since my main on EU). Can’t find a group to do cof p1/coe p1 to save my life because that account has only 1k ap (which really doesn’t mean anything, character is lv 80 and in zerker, exp is obviously not issue).
Worst part, chances of getting kicked are pretty high even if i opened the dungeon :/

Engis have too much of everything on too short CD. Specializations are not bringing any hope either. I could write a whole essay about why but i has been posted countless times.
WTB nerfs/changes:
- slick shoes need either longer CD or apply knockdown only once per circle and not be stackable (after stab changes this spell is just unproportionally amazing)
- gear shield needs longer CD
- healing turret either needs longer CD or longer cast time
- (arguable) kits need to have CD like attunements
- CC in general needs to be toned down (see rifle) weither via longer CD, shorter duration on immob, anything really
- IP needs an icon and longer ICD
- kits need an icon; you can’t tell what kit engi is in unless you zoom in (and actually see anything in massive sparkle spam) or let them use spells
@Anet: stop buffing engis, the class is unpopular because of lame looks, lame looking spells and just awkward dps rotation in pve. Overbuffing them in pvp won’t make them popoular generally.
Solutions:
- remove hobosack
- make engi spells/gadgets etc. sparky (see asura turrets, asura bombs etc.; add turret/kits/bombs skins in gem store!!???)
- give simple dps rotation for pve so you don’t need rocket science to pull as much dps as zerker war in dungeons
