Who asked for WoW’s style? I think most of us came over from GW1, not WoW.
Even WoW-style has controlled RNG in the form of specific loot tables. We’re not trying to get some fancy over-the-top do-dad like the Alar mount or some legendary item, we’re trying to get basic gear necessary for moving forward in a dungeon. Even WoW doesn’t stiff you that hard; if your group is fresh to the dungeon, almost 100% of the items that drop will be upgrades to somebody… and that percentage will remain the same, and fairly high, for a few weeks after beating the encounter the first time.
What you miss is that there should NOT be any kind of upgrade in any dungeon here.
If you complete the dungeon you will receive badges. That’s all. Everything else is for sell/disenchant.
[cut]Farmers are needed in every mmo for casual players since they make the supply bigger for alot of mats and thus cheaper for casual players. DR slows down the supply making it impossible for casual players to get a legendary weapon or to afford a ascended backpack. With DR you end up with a game where alot of hardcore farmers will stop playing making mats even more exspensive and with only the the richest players being able to afford the best armor and weapons(legendary’s since they will be boosted to ascended gear or higher) it’s not necessarily the geartreadmill that will kill the game but DR. Therefore grinding and farming are not the cancer but DR is the cancer here and the farmers that are left are the only thing fighting the cancer since they are keeping the prices of mats from rising.
a casual will probably never go for the legendary… farmers make materials’ price lower, so when the casual sells his Vial of Potent Blood he gets 2s instead of 5 … you know buy – sell … money
the problem is not farming itself but that farmers want to farm for something and “that” something must be better than what other ppl can have.
i suggest you to change game. You grinders have already done enough damages with those absurd requests. More grind ?!?! WTF!
I earn more much money than before the patch. Running 1 istance a day is more rewarding than before. Kill a champion that can drop is more rewarding than before.If its more rewarding then why do I get more rares out of farming lvl 80 trash mobs?
Why do I get more t6 mats out of farming trash mobs?That champion takes a decent chunk of time to kill and the rewards for doing so don’t make me go “hey look there’s a champion lets zerg up and go kill it!” instead it gives me the exact opposite inclination., I want to avoid it so I can grind the smaller, easier to kill and more rewarding trash mobs.
The rewards for the work do not scale properly or in layman’s terms: Anet is paying fast food employees $125/hr while Lawyers are paid $75/hr.

To put it bluntly: someone sounds a little resentful and butthurt, applying their arbitrary terms of what is playing a game and what isn’t to others.
i am resentful, and i am expressing my opinion, even considering what devs stated. They want(ed) to stop farmeing, otherwise they would not have introduced DR on dungeons.
Grinding and farming to me are abominations and games’ cancers. A distorted and alienating way to play a game. Are there people that like that? Ok, i’m fine … there are also people that like to be ballbusted; let it become the rule?
Actually the numbers would be something like
+55 Power
-65 Precision
+10% Critical
+900 Health.Since you lose precision and all.
-3% crit chance vs +10%crit damage +55 power +900health … not bad i think.

The best solution for ascended gear is to make them like spvp you log into dungeon your wearing your ascended gear.

That 11000 post thread with the same GW1 fanboys posting the same circular rage reply is not indicative of any majority. All the rage over dungeons that are kitten fun and gear that is easily attainable Welcome to MMOs and not your GW1 lobby game.

People would like to blame 3% in gear for why they lose. But really, in WvW it has literally no impact. Position yourself, be mindful of what is going on around you, and use the right ability at the right time. That’s the way to win.
It’s more or less a 10% and i don’t blame it for losing a fight.
What i’m saying is that you can do WvW fine in your rare equip, but you will do it better in your exotic equip.
ascended items are more powerful than exotics. Even some exoitcs are more powerful than others, and this is wrong and stupid. It is against everything we were told about this game gear system.
And what is even worst is that They are denying what they are doing.
If i punch you in the face saying “i’m not punching you in the face” you’ll feel good? Because this is exactly what ANet is doing to us.
Obviously you will find someone that will like to be punched and will ask for more….

Too much attention and effort in useless unrequired events and still a ton of bug in the game. yeah yeah i know … different teams and blablabla … reduce developement team and add ppl to the fixing team.
We CAN’T play because of that culling issue!
I’d love to see implemented a system that will provide additional rewards (to be determined), based on the actual contribution in defeating a foe.
Each character should have a certain “value”, so as to differentiate a more experienced player from someone less experienced or not even 80.
When a player is defeated his opponent will earn points based on fight’s contribution.
For example, if a player is worth 1000 points and I solo him I’ll get 1000 points; if we are two, and I do 70% of the damage I’ll get 700 points and my partner 300; if we are 20 and everyone gives him a hit everyone will get more or less 50 points.
We can also add some bonus points to the player that performs the finisher.
This could be ??even more interesting by applying some sort of “fight difficulty” for that there will be bonuses or penalties according to the number of player taking part to the fight.
As a result there will be smaller and more distributed groups with an reduction of the player culling issue and an improvement in fight’s quality.
I have 1800 kills and nearly 600 badges
I mine orichalcum (~20 minutes) then WvW and more or less 1 dungeon a day (if i’m in the mood).
When roaming i pick up everything and sell it on tp.
This is not grinding because i do it not for the goal but for the activity itself.
So, no. in my opinion gw2 is not the most grindy game ever.

If the band tours at 4AM on a work day after issuing a manifesto about how ‘all’ users should be able to attend the way they want to, I blame the band.
I know a lot of people that usually take a day of vacation to be able to follow the band…

A band doing a concert: they’re not handing up ‘free’ money to the ones who could attend. If you miss a concert, it sucks yeah, but you can youtube it anyway and gets your band merchandise (T-Shirts and such) online in the end anyway. The only thing you miss is the experience of being there, and that should be the same for GW2.
But this event, not only it rewarded people with worth 10g+ stuffes (like the box), but you also got guaranteed free exotic. It’s beyond any logic. :-|

This is a deserved nerf. For a skill ranged, aoe, that cripples, it was doing too much damage.
we were able to 2 shot a ranger … a little imba.

can’t do anything … sometimes, randomly, a skill works then you are down and istantly defeated … now i have to repair all my equip …

- I think it is correct to first fix bugs and then balance classes.
It is greatly wrong to balance professions when skills are bugged and don’t work as intended.
- disappointed by items progression (and worried about future level increase)
- precursor changes are almost a joke.
- more loot from champion is ok.

with my thief I soloed a champion a couple of times (most boring thing ever) and the Mad King … there are other classes that can do it faster and better. Nothing special. Nothing game breaking.

As someone who does World vs World pretty much the entire time, I’d like people in this thread who claim to speak for me to stop doing it..You might want World vs World to be like SPvP which is absolutely awful in this game, But i personally would like progression in World vs World just like DAOC and Warhammer Online…
yes but they aren’t do anything to improve World vs World…. there is still no ladder and no reward and that sucks.
They could have put in some WvW abilities, that can be acquired killing ppl and doing stuff in wvw but no! they decided to put in a new gear tier.
Exotics are too easy to acquire, so I don’t mind better gear that’s harder to obtain.
it can be harder to acquire but it shouldn’t be better in term of stats.
it is quite simple to understand.
They said there will be more legendary equipment. So what you need to gather will be full set legendary. Then no matter if there will be T2 acended or T3 acended, your legendary gears will automatically be upgraded to the top.
That’s the problem!
Legendary should not have to be upgraded to anything, because a legendary set must have the same stats of an exotic one, as it is now.
I am worried about this:
all existing Legendary weapons, which are currently on par with Exotics, will be upgraded to be on par with Ascended weapons
they said they will add more exciting rewards to have a proper progression for players from exotic up to legendary.
In my opinion this means that there will be a progression toward legendary quality gear so at the end we will probably have a bunch of players, equipped with legendary items, stronger than others. Realistically those who can spend more time/money in the game will be rewarded better than those who can’t, and that’s exactly the opposite of what ANet told us before release.
Maybe ANet is aiming to a Pay to Win system.
Please, devs, ask directly to this simple question:
a character in full ascended gear, will have a greater stats bonus than an exotic geared one? (including runes, gems, slot upgrades and so on.)

No. Its power creep either way and goes against the manifesto and blog posts.
The only way this would be fine is if the infusion thing only applied to the dungeon and you could put it on any exotic or on items with the same stats as exotics only found in that dungeon.
no actually there is another way that this could be fine: when you take the asura gate to Lost Shore your equip changes like it does when you go to the Heart of the Mists.
In lost shore you will have your new item set and you can go to complete your dungeon.
More powerful items are asked by those players who have a lot of time to spend farming an equip they need to compensate their lack of skill

I think they can solve this problem really quickly: just low stats of Ascended items and let them equal to exotic gear.
Ascended items will have same stats as exotic gear now have + socket for Agony…
Its not tiered gear…its just adding 1 more kittening rarity of gear to the game…each you didn’t complain about rare’s to exotics…or masterwork to rares…55 pages of the same whiny kittens…meanwhile Orr and other zones are now BUZZING with people getting back into the game farming karma and gold in prepartion for this game…food potions etc etc to tackle this dungeon… good friggin job ANET!
masterworks, rares and exotics where there at the release. It is different then adding tiers.
Why I did not buy a rare armor set? Because I saved my money for the exotic one, ’cause exotic is the best…. no more … tnx I wasted money, time and energy
