OP you have plenty of berserker gear, you are not tanky what so ever considering thieves are in the lowest bracket of health amounts together with guardians and elementalists.

i can cast a blind between c&d and backstab.
if you take the combo and are with 4k hp you can stealth and heal yourself and go back to 9/10 k hp …

If im full toughness and no DPS and still getting killed in 4 seconds then IT needs to be adressed, and i will keep asking for it to be sorted out.
4 seconds are so long…. if you were not able to do anything in 4 seconds there is something wrong.
4 seconds are pretty enough to hit 1 key… maybe the one with “decoy” or “mirror images” or “blink” …

Anet should stop the little games with weapon sets a give a SELECTION of skills for every slot of every weapon set. Until then there will be problem with every aspect of the game. This game does not need that much change to existing things. This game must simply have more options to choose from, so that people will blame everything on themselves for not being able to make a right choice, not complain about being hardly outplayed and blame everything on class imbalance (that is directly result of limited options)
ppl will not blame themselves ever. atm we have glass cannons complaining because they die by thieves instead of take some toughness and vitality.
Also necros and rangers do not have minior issues, they have massive issues around the class. Ranger pets are a joke since most can be just kited around and never hurt a player. Same with the spirits they have and did you know necros have a bug with the Soul Reaping trait line not giving the bonus to the life force. The actual trait line, not to mention all the minor traits that do not work or even the major ones. Class’s do not just have small or minor issues that need fixed, they have major flaws in them.

If you are not a dev you can’t know what is “intended”

he still has 16k hp, and has heavy armor. The glass canon thief is definitely squishier.
And a warrior has pretty good mobility with the greatsword. Considering he shoots from 1200 range, he has a good chance of getting away if he wants.
Still I don’t think one burst is better or worst than the other, they are the same and have a lot of disadvantages, but SHOULD BE TREATED THE SAME.
sorry but:
1- he has at least 18k hp not 16 … in the video that warrior has around 20k if i remember right
2- kill shot (that 20k dmg skill) has 1500 range – like a traited ranger – not 1200.
@Azuzephyr: he can oneshot 3ppl every 10 seconds from the wall … how can you defend that? he is not dead afterwars since he is inside the keep.
if you run a super squishy glass cannon build, you do not have a lot of stealth and you do not have a lot of initiative nor ini regen and you do not have abilities to just run away. Why? Because you are using traits and utilites to make your build effective.
At 25% health you probably are out of initiative so you can’t just “infiltrator’s arrow away” and if you stealth, using shadow refuge you are a dead thief.

BS is not OP.
BS just does damage, it doesn’t provide boons, conditions nor anything else, and it does less damage than a lot of other skills.
@Fritz: we are not saying that only thieves “are all good players and everyone else is bad.” just that only bad players come here to complain. There are a lot of good players out there and instead of complaining they have learned how to counter thieves. Indeed it is becoming harder day after day.

If lodestones will be guaranteed from dungeons the weapon will no more cost 150-400g.

Once I saw a guardian running away with 4ppl on his back hitting him. They could not kill him. Please ANET nerf guardians.
Thieves can be pretty hard to kill if specced that way, like every other class …

When main-handing Dagger, do you leave skill 1 on auto attack or do you manually trigger it to ensure best use of backstab?
Secondly, I see on the list of Thief skills a mainhand dagger skill (#3) called Twisting Fangs which is available when you have no offhand weapon. Why would you ever not have an offhand weapon?

Thieves are so OP they can kill ppl with just 1 hand … they usually held a beer in off hand.
i think 30 point in shadow arts instead of deadly arts will be much better… stealth is a great way to escape from battles and to let your bleeds act while you regen life.
you can try the X of critical —> 10%chance on critical to gain quickness for 2seconds + sigil of fury (i think) for another 10% chance on critical …
they should stack since they are from different sources.

that feature will provide no advantages at all, since you can have 5 exotic weapons each with different stats, in your backpack and switch them out of combat…
i thikn 5 weapons costs a little less than a legendary.
To be able to change stats could be a nice feature.
I always play thieves… I don’t even consider any other class.
One of the best things is to cast stealth on a downed team mate while 3 ppl are performing the finisher on him and then ress him and kill those 3 enemies… ahaha wunderbar!

Mug is fine. On an 80 in exotics or PvP gear it maxes out at around 4k crit. These 5-6k numbers are from WvW, and gone are the days of getting a 9k Mug crit with 150% dmg from ASig.[cut]

While stealthed you suffer all effects. Stealth does not grant any kind of immunity, so: yes, if you knockback a stealthed character he will be knocked back exactly as he was not stealthed. However pay attention to teleporting skills (Shadowstep, steal, etc…)

you have to run almost always hidden, using shadow refuge, healing skill, smoke screen+cluster bomb and you have a 33% speed.
If they catch you use teleport + 3 dodge (almost 8 sec of swiftness) + steal on a mob for another 1200 range teleport + 10 sec of swiftness…. then smoke screen+ cluster bomb …
there is also a rune that gives you +7% speed while under the effect of swiftness.
It IS a render issue. Being good or bad has nothing to do with appearing 2 seconds after the stealth has ended.
It’s funny how it’s never the mechanics of the game.
It’s always just ‘bad players’ to those exploiting them.Dying in 2-3 seconds without a chance to react…how does a ‘good player’ counter that?

again: the problem is NOT backstab.
The problem is how backstab interacts with other skills and that a build can instagib ppl using 3 (three, not one but three) skills, usually comboed with other utility skills (venom, haste, etc…).
They have to break that combo or make damage scale differently with power.
a backstab nerf will kill a lot of good (but not OP) builds…
In any case, it the nerf will be too hard we will find something else…
ppl are crazy… they QQ about perma stealth of a thief taking down 5 players (read in a lot of threads) … and thieves answer with “it’s the rendering issue” but it is NOT!
1 thief + 5 ppl is far far away from any render issue … it is just 1 good (or cheater) thief vs 5 bad players.
1 thief vs a zerg can exploit the render issue and down someone (hardly finish him) but i think most of the QQ are ‘coz ppl don’t know how to counter thieves.
I main a thief and i prefer facing another thief (usually some bad reroll) then a bunker guardian or a war. Thieves are not uncounterable, but it is kinda OT
Don’t you think that a position requirement (back) and a condition requirement (hidden) are enough for a backstab ? Put in other requirements will make that skill not worth it.
I think it will be better to put in a sort of c-c-c-combo breaker (cit.) that will hit that specific stupid build.

when a sthealted thief cast “shadow refuge” you can hear the sound and see the skill animation + combo field. So i think other skills works the same way.
i’m running a precision build and found p/d better than d/d against tanks.
I just used carrion pistol and dagger to have a + 180 condition damage.
Not a great condition damage but it does its job.
Stolen whirlwind doesn’t provide any invulnerability at all.
I can suggest to OP to use D/D and P/D. (Keep your SB in your backpack and equip it before sieges).
when you understand you are facing a tank perform a 3x death blossom, then swap (put the bleed on swap sigil in your pistol) roll away and go for autoattack.

This is not true. The C&D’s initiative cost is spent in the moment the skill hits, not when you start the animation.
So the +3 initiative will be wasted.

make backstab damage scale different with power. the more power you have the less damage increase backstab will have.
I mean a sort of soft cap on bs damage.
full glass cannon will be toned down but other builds that relie on bs will not be nerfed too much.
in a future patch backstab build will be nerfed. They can do it in the right way, changing how skills interact or they can do it in the wrong way, cutting off a 15/20% dmg from bs.
In this case the glass cannon bs build will be less effective, but still viable, but other builds, that use bs will be almost useless. fotm thieves probably will go back to their starting profession but thieves that love the class “no matter what” will have to figure out different builds and change their playstyle.
I think that in this scenario a complete equip change will be necessary.
Do you think that it is correct that we must spend gold and time in building up another complete set of equipment ?
I will suggest something like a “change your equip for free token” if MAJOR changes will be implemented.
Stomping while stomping
should be removed from Thief….other classes don’t get anything this nice. Its guaranteed to get you the stomp no matter what.
it is dagger/dagger if you can melee it or pistol/pistol if you have to stay ranged.
Yesterday I soloed Mad King using dagger/dagger.
if 5 ppl cannot kill 1 thief I think the problem is between the keyboard and the chair.

I, as a sylvari, really would love a cloack made of leaves.
A couple of days ago I was roaming and I found a lonely person. I engaged and killed him (stomped). A few seconds after that, another one came and started to fight me. I went to stealth and he immediately turned off and he started to ress his mate. O_O
He basically said “please backstab me!” and of course I did it.
So yes, some players are less smart than AI.
The only class that doesn’t trouble me is ranger. Everything else, if well played, can be a pain in the a**.
I think I just didn’t face a good ranger.
