AoE is not the zerg counter. AoE is the zerg way to play because when you are in a zerg you have to hit the more ppl you can in order to get your reward. Also AoE doesn’t require any skill nor tactic, just spam aoe in the middle…
Single target to be successful needs assist and player coordination.
So AoE nerf will be more than welcome!
Ya AOE nerf right? SO it is time to switch to Thief and make it ThiefWar, Since A net never think that Thief 3 button 15k damage is OP but Bunker Ele is.
Maybe because thieves, to do their 15k damage combo, have to spec glasscannon and become squishy as hell while d/d bunker eles, as i said many times have:
the best mobility, great survivability, and a good (also aoe) damage, obtained through very powerful conditions (burning does a good damage even without a condition build) and direct damage.
As if that were not enough they have great CC (stun – knockdown – chill).
So to go back in topic I think that they do not need a larger HP pool, unless something is ripped away.
definetly a bug that must be fixed.

steal on guardian is pretty cool to me … 4 sec daze at the end of a fight is awesome. for a d/d thief it means daze – hs- hs – dead guardian.
steal on ele is useless … it would be nice if stolen skill change according to ele’s attunement.
AoE is a brainless, effortless, riskyless way to play.
AoE nerf will be more than welcome.
livestream:Q: Do you find any profession to be out of balance like Ele bunker, roamer, thief one shot combo, mesmer portal?
Ele bunker is really strong, on our watchlist
Mesmer portal is giving us problems –giving that tool onto other classes
’nuff said. lol
we also have to say dungeons (never gone deep into fractals) don’t require such a great effort…
This thief has his name – guild – server in his signature… you? who are you?
You are insulting me just because you have no arguments but you really know nothing about me. Nice behaviour.
Heh, it’s amusing that the vast majority of people defending the current thief as-is, play one.. Surprising? Not really..
and they know the profession, and know hot to counter it, unlike complainers that can only write bs on this board.
I counter hot usually with some cold and refreshing beverage. But isn’t that a bit offtopic?
omg, really ?

If you actually played an elementalist, you’d understand what the OP is suggesting in order to deviate eles away from bunker builds.
It’s obvious in your blind rage that you picked up a fotm thief build that is not able to instagib d/d eles, and concluded this build is OP. It’s funny, competent thieves have the least trouble with d/d eles, so maybe you should take your own advice and look deeply in your class to figure out how to play against d/d eles.
you can’t even imagine how far you are from the truth.
btw, nice trolling attempt
it depends on the build … a 4500 unload will not be a 2000 slice…
unload = 808 dmg
volley = 1160 dmg
skill 5 is great if you have to tank. and you also have an interrupt
I don’t think you are forced to use that build. What I see is a fotm build, so ppl use it even if they don’t really like it or it doesn’t fit well in their playstyle just because they were told to do so, or they saw how strong it can be.
When someone post a video with some great stuff in it the first question is “what’s your build?” as if the build was actually playing and not the person.
I know the majority of people just copy/paste someone else’s build instead of trying harder to deeply know their class. Why ? Because it’s easier.
That said, if Anet will tone down d/d bunkers and boost something else you will see the majority of elementalists (copy/paste ones) complaining about the nerf while someone else works to find out another effective build. Then new build will be revealed and the copy/paste process will start again… forcing people to play a build they don’t like.
I think there isn’t just one effective build, maybe a build with a better skill/effectiveness ratio and everyone goes that way.
The fact remains that atm d/d bunker ele is OP.
Thieves kill so fast that even Chuck Norris can’t see them!
MORE base hp = MORE problems to kill a bunker ele
MORE problems to kill a bunker ele = MORE fotm bunker eles
MORE fotm bunker eles = LESS skill needed and MORE complainers
for solo pve (skill points, hearts, or anything else involving mobs) use dagger/pistol or sword/pistol and use this incredibly difficult chain ( one move every second so you have to be a very skilled player):
5 – wait – wait – wait – wait – 5 – wait – wait – wait – wait – 5 ….
^_^
4vs1 = no culling. Culling issue is there when there are a lot of ppl in the area …
it’s so easy to make harmless a p/d thief that it’s embarassing to read this kind of threads.
The best solution would be a system that will give prestige for killing opponents. In my opinion:
Prestige for defense = ppl afk inside a keep (like WAR)
Prestige for cap = bandwagons avoiding real fights
I hope they will put in prestige for kills in the way that the more ppl attack a target the less prestige they get.
you are still missing the point. Its not about nerfing or buffing anyone its about making all classes have the ability to have more viable specs. You are so stuck on your hate of elementalists you cant see the benefit ideas like this would be for the game as a whole.
Explain me how giving elementalists a greater HP pool will give them more viable specs …
Moreover eles share the lowest HP pool with thieves and guardians and as Magische Boek said they have amazing health restoration.
Elementalists trait, gear, and build for insane amounts of defenses… [cut]
keeping the best mobility and decent (aoe) damage. gg
Don’t try to change the subject … we are talking about eles and their presumed need to have a greater life pool, not about me or the professions i’m playing (also because you can’t know anything about it).
My point is: they do not need more HP because they already can have more than everyone else in the game.
This is a good news. We had enough time to chose a server, now it’s time to play.
i’m sorry to say that i didn’t like it very much … you are facing almost only green arrows and you made tons of mistakes …
lol@flesh golem @ 6.40 smashing his head against the bridge!
Im sure it does, thats why I came across this idea.
And you are terribly wrong:
precision 1856 (916+940) = +920 hp (from 14045 to 14965)
@ other ppl:
1. i did not post that video as proof eles are OP, i posted it because someone said: “what else can i do instead of d/d ?! it is the only viable build” … and obviously it isn’t.
2. they may be tPvP in WvW … who cares?
3. 5 ppl with half brain and blablabla would have broken… but they didn’t and you can’t say “screenshot or it didn’t happen” ’cause there is the video.
:D
using terrain or mobs or whatever is out there to turn a fight in your favor is meritorious.
The 5% bonus to a stat traits only use the stat bonus from your gear.
i’m quite sure it doesn’t, but i’m gonna check it, ‘cause atm i’m not at home.
btw i’m not saying eles need a buff but the opposite.
The fact that all people playing ele use roughly the same build..doesn’t make it a FOTM build
indeed it does.
because when you have a single spec…there is nothing to compare it with, that is to say d/d eles are fotm users compared to what type of eles?
maybe this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvkKHR8zz34
editing to say that the fact you were playing ele since bwe1 doesn’t mean it’s not a FOTM class … indeed you can see elementalists in wvw popping out like mushrooms along with their “noob ele needs help” thread on this board.
(edited by Daendur.2357)
Thanks for the vid. This shows all these “Thieves are not op” that they actualy are OP.
so please, make a thief and come crush us !
The thing is we all see the problem with tanky eles. I have no idea why it takes so long to balance it. Here is a good example: http://pl.twitch.tv/magzyo/b/356720136. Game starts at about 14:00. 3 eles in 1 team. Random team almost won with one of the best eu teams. As for the glass cannon ele I agree there should be something done to make this build viable. I would say having a trait which converts 5% of precision into vitality might help.
Here a quick calculation=
-1000 precision
- 5% converted to vitality
- 50 vitality added to ele HP poolAnd with this a glass cannon become viable?..no kidding
a glass cannon that doesn’t raise precision at all ?
a naked untraited character has 916 precision …
So please find me these significant buffs which had made ele an OP class…and where are the small nerfs?..I only see huge nerfs all around ty
Maybe someone blinded you ’cause you completely missed my point.
I said that there were NO significant buffs, so ele has always been OP but players didn’t notice it until someone pulled “The Build” out of his hat revealing elementalist’s true power.
thank you very much
what you call “a strong build” is by far more powerful than everything else we’ve ever seen since release.
Since eles haven’t been buffed recently i assume they did “find out” this fotm build.
Ah yes that’s why we got nerfed to the extreme during beta, thanks for the enlightenment Daendur…
they nerfed you so much that at the moment you are the most OP class in the game…
soooo nerfed.
plz be serious.
Hi all,
i noticed necro has a skill that makes him become white and creates a ring around him that moves with him.
Is it right?
Can you tell me the name of this skill ?
Thank you.
So eles learned to play and are now OP?
basically yes. they started as classical mages … staff and ranged … then they find out daggers…
is they have to rework one or more professions to keep them balanced in order to give to elementalists more hp i think it means they are already balanced (and they are not).
eles atm are a bit over the top and what they need is a nerf, not a buff.
but it’s surely coming.
giving more hp to eles will result in an OP class beconming even more OP.
That’s not a great idea in my opinion.
when you are starting a fight, picking up the right target is the first thing to do.
a right target choice has to be appreciated, not blamed.
Funny stuff as over half the thieves I kill I do so while they are in stealth.
This happens to me too. A lot of (bad) thieves think they are safe or just move as expected an take c&d and bs … i always have to call my friends in TS saying “he’s here!” while i’m swinging at a downed hidden thief and they are moving around like flies.
Hohotask is right! D/D thieves are OP… when they are attuned to air and use Ride the lightning to switch to heart and do heartquake they are really a pain!
If only there was an attunement for heart, then five eles could use their elites to summon Captain Planet!
lol earth
heart attunement would be nice though
here a picture with summoned bow:
Hohotask is right! D/D thieves are OP… when they are attuned to air and use Ride the lightning to switch to heart and do heartquake they are really a pain!
i suggest ruby orb.
the majority of the thieves are very predictable. It’s quite easy to continue hitting a thief when he goes to stealth.
As a D/D thief i can see if i’m hitting him just seeing my animation.
The problem is that a lot of people freeze for a second when we disappear and give us the time we need to go where they don’t think we are.
You should consider that a stealthed thief will hardly use a teleport, unless he is in big trouble, so you can simply follow his previous path…
And when you see a shadow refuge, just swing in the center and then move back to the edge … he will probably be there.
again … c&d is c&d … steal is steal … 2 different abilities, 2 resource pools (1 time – 1 initiative)
having stealth on steal is better than have to c&d before stealAnd again having Infusion of Shadow or Cloaked in Shadow outweights the benefit of ini free stealth via steal. Not to mention that it gives only 2 s of stealth, vs 4
why a cost of 4 ini would be better than 0 ?
Cloaked in Shadow could be a good trait but in my opinion a free stealth is better than a blind.
Also the c&d+steal combo on a target running towards you will fail 99% of the timesBecouse you will get that CnD cost 4 ini all the rime, every other stealth skill u use will give you 2 ini from air and blind on stealth is simply huge. Compare it to ini free 2 second stealth every 45 second and you have the answer. And CnD+steal very rarelly fails even when oponent is running towards you. If hes charging at you, doesnt mean you should do the same while casting CnD.
i’ll try.

you know that hidden thief trigger stealth even if no one’s around?
no initiative cost
no target needed
and you keep compairing it with c&d+steal combo …

Remove the cooldown, make qq’ers qq.
