yes, great idea! thief can be afflicted by lvl 100 agony while in stealth.
what does stealth duration has to do with culling ?
btw even if i have a thief i fight thieves and i see how they render.
how do you consider a player that while a thief is around starts to ress a defeated (not downed) ally?! a lot of times doing 1vs2 – 1vs3 when someone goes down and i stealth, his mate starts ress him.
other times i just have to pop here and there a couple of times and they spread enough to let me get a kill… then the second.
fighting a thief you have to know what to do but mostly what not to do.
if they remove stealth they have to give us plate and 8k more HP.
[cut] Not pointing towards anyone, but seriously, why would any player half decent deny culling is an issue that needs to be solved asap unless using/abusing it is the only way to gain?[cut]
Culling IS an issue, stealth mechanic isn’t.
Ppl are crying “nerf stealth” not “remove culling”. I’m up with the “remove culling” shout but not with the “nerf stealth”.
If we are talking about culling you have to point at mesmers firstly.
If we are talking about stealth mechanic. deal with it.
If you spend some time you can find videos of any class killing ppl.
There are many 1vX recorded by any profession…
eles doing 1v3 1v4 … mesmers doing the same, warriors oneshotting ppl, immortal guardians …. it’s full of video out there.
The problem is that thief is one of the most difficult profession to understand if not played. Is it because of stealth? Is it because of culling ? I don’t know.
What I know is that only if you play a profession (not 5 minutes in pvp) you can understand it and learn how to counter it.
If you die and you don’t know why you can chose the easy way (come here and complain), or the hard one (try to learn your opponent).
asccording to this discussion, around 95% of all players NOT playing thieves, are so bad they really shouldnt be allowed to plat this game. On the other hand 100% of all thieves are so GOOD and PRO mensa will send you an auto invite if you roll thief in gw2
it’s 95% of ppl complaining, not 95% of ppl not playing thieves.
There’s a great difference between the player base and a bunch of unskilled QQers.
ahahah “spam 1 and 5 or spam 2 and 5” said the dead thief.
@ distate: pls stop with the crap that “No class in the game should be doing the lowest base health in damage in 2-3 seconds” and thieves dmg is too high and blablabla. Almost every profession che do 15k in 2 3 seconds and tbh the c&d-steal-bs combo requires much more skill than a hundred blades.
rendering issue can be a problem when a lot of ppl are involved, but it has not to be an excuse for bad players to lose 1v1 or 2v1 or 3v1 with thieves.
if 3 ppl are killed by a thief it means only 2 things: 1 skilled thief – 3 bad players.
tbh warriors are very very far from being useless… maybe in 8 lvl you got a wrong impression.
you have to use stealth to make distance between you and mobs if you want to lose agro. bad.
downed skill useless. again the worst down mode
after the teleport you were rooted in place while swinging your dagger. noy you can move.
before when your target was running you were able to close the gap with teleport and then miss. now the skill will be more efficient.
Are the guys claiming that the rendering issue has been fixed trolling, or do they just not spend much time in WvW? I guess all those pistol volley’s and backstabs coming out of thin air for a full 3 seconds before rendering were just in my imagination huh? I guess they were really rendering on the screen, but my eyes just aren’t l33t enough.
I don’t think thieves are nearly as OP as some people claim, but don’t try and claim the rendering isn’t still a problem.
stealth is broken when damage is done.
You can see bullets coming and evade/block them and thief will not render.
This is not a render issue it is how it works.
Ppl complaining against thieves are just ppl that don’t know how the class works and they prefer to come here and QQ instead of L2P.
Here the anti-thief guide:
- log into the game
- roll a thief
- use it
Now you are able to counter thieves with the profession you prefer.
globs are now used as a currency for ascended earrings … don’t think they will drop too much.
Please don’t think you are winning your 1v1’s through skill. Most of us could not see you for more than a few seconds and did not have enough aoe to burst you down before you safely disappeared to the other side of the map.
The game engine and your artificially long invisibility are the reason for your wins.
such a good old rosik post! gg
it was awesome using whirling axe against 4 , 5 ppl that where attacking you and gain life instead of losing it.
as usual who is in the game while patch notes are released can take advantage of this time gap between patch notes and patch.
As usual people totally ignore the things an item is actually used to make.
Black Peppercorn – 76 copper each
Pile of Salt and Pepper – 23 copper eachMakes perfect sense….
The point is the class needs huge changes some huge nerfs and some huge compensation.
so a thief can finally become a warrior.
I was starting to worry ’cause the daily “nerf thief” thread was missing.
I really feel better now, thanks.
1 laurel for OP.
a “token bank” will be great.
a new tab with token slots and neverending stacks
[cut]
However, quickness proc I’ve found was only really good with mainhand sword, since you have more mobility via Infil. Strike and it’s range isn’t affected by haste.[cut]
Quickness proc is also very good with dual pistols. It speeds up unload burst very well. I have that sigil in a gun and when i swap to p/p it procs really often to melt down super mobile classes.
haste is too random. i think precision, force, air and fire are better.
seriously 4 players and you go down ? lol
your missing the point again. It will be 2 thieves not even attempting to kill the enemy players. not running away. just dodge rolling and C&D until we get downed then reviving each other.
this is nonsense.
what’s the point in trolling bad players ?
seriously 4 players and you go down ? lol
My point still stands that it heals for enough to keep you and your ally from dying in the 3 seconds
Ally will get only the 430 from refuge not the rejuvenation
430*5=2150 hp on a pool of over 35k (i have 15k while alive and 35k+ while downed) is not that much.
have you not been reading the point i have been trying to make this ENTIRE thread? the issue is specifically with reviving OTHER thieves with the ability
ok so? still 18k to be healed in 3 sec … assuming no one is doing anything in the refuge, and that never happens

749hp a second 420+329
420 < 500
329 < 400
749 < 1000
355+0.18*healing power = 409
293+0.1*healing power = 323
check you character ’cause you have 61healing power from something….
decent players use knockback/fear/pull when they see the little house… sr must be used with a grain of salt.
Also shadow refuge does around 500 hp a second by it’s self. adding in the 300-400 hp a second from shadow’s rejuvination (400 with ascended + all stats jewelry) is easily around 1k hp a second
random numbers. have you ever played a thief?
btw if you cast a sr and stay on the edge to avoid melee and dodge to avoid cast, you are not ressing/stomping.
sr can be tactical or an escape skill … use it to say “hello world, i’m here” and then be ready to react is not that smart.
Easy playable class’s are on top ofc
lol @ eles as an easy class. and btw, why a ranger should be more difficult?
every class has 5 weapon skills, 1 heal, 3 utilities, 1 elite …
someone (ie ranger) is just bad.
pull or push out of SR = dead thief.

One of the aims of the game was to make every class feel unique, but also viable and fun to play in a variety of ways. What professions have been highlighted as a falling short of this target and what crazy ways have been tried internally to spice them up?
Colin: For me, every profession actually has a lot of different variety available to it. It’s just a matter of if you enjoy that playstyle or not. So I think people look at each profession and they’ll judge it based on “Do I enjoy playing the ways of this profession offers me to play?” And so just going around the table, everybody is playing a different main for the most part. There’s no thieves or warriors here but there’s plenty of them in game. So we know those are represented. We talked about that graph that’s up on the wall. We look at that every day based on what profession people creating and it’s almost always very close to being even across all professions. That’s a really good sign, that is very, very hard to do. In Guild Wars 1 it was not even relatively close to that. It’s a big difference between viability of playstyles versus, you know, not at all. I’m actually really impressed at how generally balanced the professions are. There are certain skills or abilities that all need to get better but across the professions it’s actually pretty decent. It’s just a matter of what playstyle are you interested in. The thing that we have to improve is look at weapons sets that aren’t interesting for that profession or don’t fit the playstyle that we’ve said that profession should have and bring those up to the point that are.
Hello,
can we have a trait cooldown viewer added in the UI ?
We can see skills CD, but we have nothing for traits/runes/sigils.
if you have been out of combat fo a while and then you are fighting and you are going down you should know what’s going to happen and not cast c&d.
The only problem can be in a long combat when you go down and up multiple times so it’s hard to track it’s cd.
They should really add a “trait cooldown viewer” in the UI.
i think you’ll have to wait the end of March.
According to Anets official gw2 twitter posts, this year wont have any significant game changing patches.
According to https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Upcoming-WvW-Updates/first
March will see the release of the WuvWuv progression system, new ranks you can earn in WvW visible to all other players, and new DubVDub specific abilities/bonuses that you can earn as you rank up. Our team working on WvW will discuss this system in more detail as that date approaches.
i think you’ll have to wait the end of March.
thieves have no blood. they are killer antropomorphic OP cyborgs!!!111!!2222222 <— ops
Kill shot has a very long charge. It’s not that hard to dodge it or get close for a daze (easy to do with a S/D or S/P build).
and kill shot also requires a great amount of skill. you have to press 1 button.
I dont know, if anet keeping this spell in game it means (to me) that at the moment everything is okay. They (anet) must know what they’re doing?
yes of course, they never said a word about culling … everything’s ok.
tbh i don’t care… i’m a thief.
i just think it’s ludicrous someone’s complaining about the most used way to start a fight, also considering he uses it too.
@Nemesys: live by the zerg, die by the zerg.
almost every party with a mesmer starts the fight with veil.
culling is bad, exploiters are worse
will you put more glass cannons or more ragequitters ?
Puts his cursor somewhere on the screen, and disables reticle targeting :p
Man, that would be hard.
So he casts his skills “somewhere on the screen” ?
mmm interesting…
Actually I am two forumtrolls, as I troll in both, the german and the international forum.
This setup let your guild explode quite a few times on tuesday Daendur ;-).
Edit: sorry, I forgot that we agreed on the term facemelting, not exploding. My bad.
I don’t remeber every fight. It is possible that you won against us, it seems you are running some pretty tested setup while we are still exploring alts and builds.
Anyhow the joke was funny.
Hope to find you out there again, we are always willing to learn from good players.
[cut](he is supposed to render before the first bullet fires). [cut]
A thief is unstealthed when he does damage. That’s why we do not get revealed against a “miss” block" “immun” etc etc.
You perfectly represent the 90% of people complaining about thieves.
0 info lots of words…
I have a friend who plays SOLELY with the keyboard and he is one of the best Guardians I’ve met, so I don’t think any keys SHOULD be used for certain things. I also know of many people using the keyboard number pad for their weapon skills and they switch back and forth between the mouse and keyboard very fast.
And how does he manage ground targeting with keyboard ?
Gandara only wins because of nightcapping. Nice job, you are so epic … NOT!
Yesterday, h 22.30, we left wvw because we had almost everything… I don’t think it’s nightcapping, I think it’ prime time.
Try harder next time.
new exploit? new hack?
edit: check the combat log is usefull to check skill used. In that case you could have seen if he used unload.
haste + render delay ?
or maybe he was a ranger with “Hide in Plain Sight” and Rapid Fire.
1. The player is drawn (lol WvW).
2. You identify the player.
3. You identify the player as a Thief.
4. You identify the player as a Thief with a Dagger offhand (can be assumed after #3).
5. You can discern the CND animation at 900 range
If you are not able to do that, it’s not our problem, nor a balance problem.
Unfortunately I’m just a random baddie, so I need big flashy animations like a hugeass ball of lightning hurtling towards me to react properly, and my feelings are hurt when I insta-die from scary Thieves.
finally you wrote a meaningful sentece.
I really don’t get why the fanaticism on the hoods.
‘cause it’s thiefy…
A lot of beautiful numbers here but you are not fighting target dummies…
A reaction is possible, the only problem is if a player is fast enough; apparently EasymodeX isn’t so he would liketo see thieves toned down.
