Not sure where you’re getting “+1 dodge every 30s” either, Vigor stacked with the same trait line’s dodge refund mechanic allows thieves to dodge more than any other profession and further synergizes with the other on-dodge mechanics thieves can achieve through traits. Dodge is amazing as an avoidance mechanism on its own, but it really shines when each dodge gives the thief an offensive buff, swiftness, does damage/cripple/heal, and refunds endurance for more dodges. Dodge synergy is easily one of the more powerful thief synergies, on par with stealth.
ok. again: you are talking about synergy. In this thread i read that fleet shadow is crap and so i replyed using my point of view. and from my pov (build) other traits are worse than flee shadow. Maybe for your build there are other traits but this doesn’t mean fleet shadow is crap.
@brandon: i’m using a 0/30/30/10/0 with fleet shadow so i think i’m in that 5% ;P

I can tell that with a build based on stealth, +33% (50%) speed is a great trait … and the 1 stack of might when you already have 10 is not so noticeable; nor the +1 dodge every 30s

Descent of Shadow = useless
Power of inertia = gives only 1 stack of might, not needed if you have Hidden assassin
Vigorous Recovery = not bad, but if you use Hide in shadows it is 10sec of vigor every 30s …
Assassin’s Retreat = i think the “when you kill an enemy” is a poor mechanic

every class can see through stealth … infact if you look at a stealthed thief you can perfectly see what there is behind him
I don’t really have an issue with stealth as a warrior. Thieves are squishy and the easiest class to kill. I can’t remember the last time one killed me other than maybe if I was on auto run looking at the map.
Mesmers don’t have stealth enough for it to really matter.
I think that as the skill level of players increase, they will find that the stealth classes are not that strong.
If you fought a P/D condition thief you will notice they are in stealth basically every 3-5 seconds. You would have no chance trying to kill something you can’t see.
you obviously didn’t play stealthers in other games … and you obviously are a bad player if you are not able to kill a thief (or at least to deal with) as an elementalist.
I think i saw the first (or something similar) long time ago.
Why not, Signet of Air needs it too

yes, you can do what they said and be a kamikaze thief. you can kill 1 opponent and then got killed by the second one
or you can play your thief using backstab and other skills/utilities/trait and be a real pain in the a…
backstab is main hand dagger skill while in stealth. and from behind deals massive damage.
I use shadowstep. At first it was a bit hard to manage the groundtarget, also because i disabled the target, thinking it was faster with just 1 button instead of button+click but i messed up with range.
now it is a must have.. and also shadow return is great.
i think that if you place the mouse cursor on the minimap the groundtarget skill will go forward from your toon.
edit: for a quick escape i use it just clicking next to my character, as the cursor usually is really close and so “in range”

ALT + F4 = death is great and needed
Die if you crash in combat for any reason is a little price to pay for having a more fair and funny game.
we may have recipes for stuff like eggnog but what matters is what eggnog will provide…

People are either doing fractals or quit playing. I think that covers about 80-90% of the original population. The rest will be doing some WvW, leveling an occasional alt etc.

culling doesn’t exists with 8 ppl + 1 thief …
culling is a problem only with greater numbers.
I think the problem here is not culling but sleeping ppl.

To me there is no meaning in level up a toon just to level it up again after few months.
Why should I spend time and golds to take and equip that will become useless?

If you think it through carefully, you’ll find that your suggestion for DR on drops would do more harm than good. Pretty basic economics here; by making the items rarer you’re lowering the supply but not affecting the demand. Thus, the price must go up. People in need of these items now have two choices: farm for the items even longer because of the DR, or farm for even more gold than they needed before to buy them from others. In the end you have only INCREASED farming/grinding/whatever-word-you-choose-to-make-up-to-avoid-the-fact-that-you-are-wrong. It is the only logical outcome of your suggestion. It is inevitable.
Not only does your “idea” NOT solve what you personally imagine to be a problem, but in fact you would make it worse. This demonstrates to me that you do not understand one or more aspects of the subject you are discussing.
What you probably do not consider is that there are a lot of different materials and playing the game in almost its totality (i mean, events, dungeons, wvw, gathering, etc …) you will collect everything but you hardly need everything so you can sell what you don’t need and keep what you need. You will have to buy what you miss at a higher price, due to the lack of supply, but you will also sell your unneeded stuff at a higher price.
IE: i’m on Incinerator and I need 100molten lodestones and 100 destroyer lodestones. So I buy destroyer and molten lodestones but I sell charged, onyx, crystal and corrupted ones … if the price goes up it will be the same to me.
Sorry man but you are the one who is taking this off topic speaking theorically about what is and what is not “farming”. Participate to an event ( and, of course, kill 50 to 100 mobs ) is really really different from “farming plinx”. You can say what you want, you can even say the sun is cold, but it isn’t.

There were a lot of polite and constructive posts that were merely ignored.
There is a thread about Salvage’s DR and that thread received three ( 3 ) official and clear answers, and John Smith said: “Just to be clear again. There is no DR for salvaging. There’s no stealth nerf on ectos.”
This means that if they want they can give clear and direct answers.
In about 11000 replies in the official ascended gear topic we didn’t receive a single true answer, just “blablabla” and that’s one of the reasons a lot of people is angry now.
Let’s see what will happen after next holidays….

According to Urban dictionary “Farm”: to camp in and area in a video game with the aim of collecting large amounts of gold or items
If you kill 20 mobs travelling cursed shore, then go wvw, than play tp, than use mystic forge (you can put in karma, mystic coins, skill points, glob of ecto) you are not “farming”

I think this is true only for dungeon’s tokens. You have to do a specific dungeon to gain a specific token.
Everything else can be acquired in a lot of ways. You can obtain rare materials from mobs, from players, from the mystic forge or you can buy them.
However OP is complaining they nerfed events like Plinx and that he can’t “grind around 120-150g in one week” any more… i say “Hallelujah”.
a DR doens’t prevent you to farm (repeat the same action endlessly); it just makes grinding not worthing it.
Aren’t there only 2 gift of the traveler per person ?

1- You have explained why you put in Ascended items, but why did you increase their stats? You (as a company) always said that legendaries are only for cosmetics, why this change?
2- Do you sleep well? Do you have a clear conscience?
3- In your opinion, why your customers should believe you ?
This makes me ponder something.. If we put in 4 cheap legendaries, is it possible to get, say, Twilight from 4 Frenzy spearguns?
You can buy the focus precursor for 9 golds … however you will need another 700-800 golds of materials for the gifts. Can’t do it in a cheap way
