Ive already addressed why Raids should be the only means of getting legendary armor.
Dont need to go in circles.
Except it shouldnt. Im sorry, but if we can get legendary weapons through doing a scavenger hunt, armor should be no different. Ill be doing raids dont get me wrong, but i dont think, and from what i see said, that it will be the only way, thank goodness for that.
Theres the ostentatious entitlement we all know and love.
Way to ignore everything else she said
Well, dont buy any of the crafting bags but the tier 6 one, believe its called heavy?
It may be an old dye but its still ~50g, that’s still not pocket change for most of us.
I’m happy to have such awesome options in the dye pack, don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful and think it was an awesome gift, but the first dye off the lists on the wiki I decided I wanted to get has been excluded.
Not a huge deal, just a little disappointed is all.
Thats actually why i was looking so forward to my characters birthday, Now..now its just..meh…i dont like the dyes from the exclusive dye kits, and the ones i liked, i already have and use…but i want celestial….
Probably just put it in the bank for now and leave it, if i find a dye i want, then ill use it!
Its also about 100G at the moment.
Abyss is an old dye. Just buy from TP!
Could ya give me the gold to buy celestial? Im busy using my money for silk for my light ascended armor.
You play gw2 since beta like me (if I recall one of your posts right). Maybe you should have bought both at a better (cheaper) time like I did?
Like maybe last january?
Busy with a legendary at that time! Every bit of money i was making went towards it. I dont play things i dont enjoy, so i lose out on making fast money, see SW(I got bored of it, and cant run it anymore, plus, i have everything out there.) Not only that, but you cant really just find dyes laying around anymore…stupid decision i think, but its done with now! ive also never had really over 200G, and ive only had that much, once, when i was buying the pre for the legendary focus.
The cheapest ive seen Celestial go for was 40G, back in Beta and the first year, i didnt want it(Wanted abyss, and i got that from a random dye.) so i never bothered checking on it, has it gone for cheaper?

Some “casuals” enjoy difficult challenges too. Please stop equating “casual” to “bad” or “easy mode” for kittens sake. Many of us do not appreciate it.
This x1000. You can still be casual and good at the game. The two are not mutually exclusive.
I’ll still be casual, but also enjoying the raid content. And if I can’t find the time to commit to it, then I won’t feel entitled to the rewards. Let people have their shiny trophies and achievements for actual achievements. The game has so few of them.
Let me echo that sentiment.
The problem is, if you ask people to leave quietly, they cuss you out half the time.
So you kick and then they get mad and whisper/trash talk.
I put “experienced” and end up with people coming in saying “first timer”
It’s a losing battle/crapshoot
I get annoyed by that. I had that happen yesterday morning, i wanted to do a quick dungeon run AC P1, so i put AC P1 Experienced. I get two 80s and a level 65(Which was fine, he asked, and he knew what he was doing), then a level 40 joined, i was fine till we got to Kholer, where we wiped.
He fell off the top, had to type in “Uhhh….how do i get back up?”.
I asked him if it was his first time in the dungeon, his response. “Sorta, ya.”
Mine? “Why did you join, i put Experienced.”
He left silently, but my group decided to turn me into the bad guy because i was mean to him apparently by asking a question? READ THE LFG TOOL and it wouldnt have happened in the first place.

Anet could offer me a full refund on the price I paid for this game when it came out and I still wouldn’t take it.
I don’t care if it’s partially f2p now. It was money well spent and would happily contribute to its success all over again.
This is how i feel too.
Thanks ANET for the years of playtime, the 4k+ hours ive enjoyed, the countless people ive met, and the some of the most memorable experiences of my video game time have all been in this game. I might have missed out on some in game events, but i dont even care about that anymore!
Ive thrown more money in the game in two weeks than you have OP, ive thrown probably…oh i dont even know, way to much over the past three years, plus my original 75$ purchase!!!
I have 14 characters, and im looking forward to unlocking the elite specs that i will use i dont need nor will i use all of them, im looking at my eles ecspecially.
I still try to get what problem people remain finding when playing rangers and their pets. My pets never aggro wrongly, never are useless and I can lead them to every right target they must attack. So… now we have a problem with the Druid, when we even know what will offer yet?
I don’t want to think how many tears will be dropped in the forums if the Druid offers the option to manage TWO pets at same time -or something like this…
I pretty much fall in this, but kitten i wish we didnt get so much hate in dungeons ;-;
I don’t agree with the petition that we was quoted but if anet is calling this content challenging and it ends up being puggable then imo it isn’t really challenging
Dunno, Fractals can be pugged, and im sure some people find the higher levels challenging still.
Poor ANet. They can’t add any sort of decorative design to an outfit now without someone getting triggered.
Welcome to the new world i guess?
I agree with PopeUrban. Normally I don’t see any reason to have cutoffs on availability of skins. But when they are a thank you or a reward based on meeting certain parameters of dedication to the game (got HoM points, prepurchased the original game, bought the game before knowing it would be play for free, did really super well in PvP) then they should remain accessible only to those who met the requirements.
Now, RNG like the jetpack or ghastly shield? Or short term gem store availability not tied to doing in-game stuff, like, say, the bunny ears or aviator sunglasses? Having those isn’t a statement of anything, and they certainly should be brought back.
(I have the ears and the glasses, would have liked the jetpack if it had ever dropped for me, and have zero interest in the shield).
Agree with this one.
Dont like it, dont use it? I dont like church, so i dont go to church! Just saying

Is there some reason the OP had to make his own thread instead of posting in the thread that’s on this page already? I don’t see that he had anything new or special to say that required its own thread.
He does this alot. This isnt the first time ive seen him post a thread like this.
You’re posting on this forum thus you’re not a casual.
I post on the forums of any game i put alot of time in. i was posting on the World of Tanks forums when i had a 45% WR and thought i was a god. So yea, casuals can post on the forums too.
Sure.
Unless you want to ask in map chat for help.
Or enter the big city right behind you when you create a new character.
Or actually go explore the rest of the world when you reach the border of a starting map.
Or make more than 2 characters.
Or have more than 3 bags.
Or trade with someone.
Or get those laurels people talk about.
Or talk in the official forums.
And so on, and so on.
Those restrictions, especially those regarding number of available characters and number of bag slots, are very similar to those seen on The Old Republic or any other cheap free to play game.
None of the F2P games ive played have those. WoT, WoWsp, Mabinagi(spelling?) Maple story, for examples(those arent all of them of course, just the ones i could think of without searching around.)
(edited by Dante.1763)
Yea im going to agree with Miss Lana here, on just about everything shes said.
Dunno what class you are, but i think its just Charr related. I had a ranger, thief, guardian and a ele all at the same time have this issue. As soon as that outfit gets equipped it does the chat bubble, and name plate movement.
I want the makeover kit to be able to change race like it did back then…
I dislike being Asuran for my mesmer.
To my knowledge the makeover kits never actually did allow race changes, as devs have mentioned it would mess up the personal story a bunch.
yea, they have never once allowed race changes through make over kits. I know. The day they added them in i bought four of them for four of my characters, it was never an option!
First define casual, please? Like, im a casual player by my definition, i dont play the game everyday, and i dont play for long when i do. But heres the thing, im really good at PVE stuff which is what raids are, beat Liadri after learning it, and trying many times(Which is how raids should be, they should be hard, but they should be doable to those that learn them). I suck at PVP, or any form of competitive fighting or scenarios. So am i casual? What is a casual?
In case of pve its simple do define casual player:
- dont have proper gear
- dont have proper build
- dont know encountersBasicly everyone who told you stuff like “I play this game as I want” is consider as casual. I dont wanna say its bad thing to be casual its perfectly fine.
Okay by your example i would not be a casual, of those three the only thing i do is not run the Meta builds.(which ive never noticed a decrease in my performance). I the proper armors and such and know almost all the encounters in the game, so by your example, i wouldnt be a casual then?
By the one above you however, on any given day but the weekend i would be considered a casual.
$150 pre-order pre launch. The company devalued my purchase to zero forgive me if I’m not alright with that.
Did you suddenly lose all the stuff that came with your pre order? And have you seen the cost of those statues they came with? Ive spent more money on the game after preordering four copies, than i did when i preordered. I dont even want to know the exact figure ive spent on this game. But every cent i put in ive gotten out of this game over the past three years. The only person who hasnt that i bought the game for was my brother, because he hasnt and refuses to play it because it isnt guild wars one.
I was checking out some topics regarding raiding on Reddit when I came across something unbelievable.
Get a load of this post :
“Everyone, we gotta send Anet a message.
Make sure you post on the official forums and send Anet lots of emails. Tell them that no raid in Guild Wars 2 should ever be puggable.
Real players like us deserve our bragging rights and legendary armor.
Casuals should never be allowed to clear a raid. Say no to PUGs. Lets do this people!!"
WTF, seriously?? Check it out yourselves. This is the topic:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3iy258/guild_wars_2_raiding_has_to_be_hard_duh_why_and/
The raids had better be puggable . To hell with your “bragging rights”.
Its maybe wrote as offend but I agree with that completly. If you are casual player you shouldnt be able get hardcore stuff just for participation.
First define casual, please? Like, im a casual player by my definition, i dont play the game everyday, and i dont play for long when i do. Glad im not the only one, it was the one reason i came to LA when it was fixed..now..i dont go there at all. It looks nice, but its empty. Its hollow, to me at least. That statue was super important as a symbol of unity, and i fail to see why it couldnt be placed in the big empty space that nobody uses.
And so it begins…despite whatever measures Anet have put in place, yesterday alone I got two goldseller whispers. I don’t mind the f2p players who are on to see whether or not they want to invest in the full game, but if, as it appears, and as was predicted by the community, we now have to put up with a new epidemic of unwanted and annoying spam goldseller whispers it will make the GW2 experience that much less enjoyable.
Erm, everyone gets whisps from gold sellers. These wisps are from people who dont have free to play accounts, as one of the restrictions of free to play accounts is u cant whisper people unless that person is on ur friends list AND that person has reciprocated and added the so called ‘free player’ to their friends list also. basically if i was free to play and i wanted to whisper u i wudnt be able to unless we both added each other to our friends list…
may wanna check the f2p account restrictions before making assumptions.
Heres a handly link for u
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/95982157-Account-types-Free-Core-HoT
Quite wrong. They can whisper anyone once every 30 seconds.
Ok the core game going ‘f2p’ is an absolute joke and I’m fuming right now.
Anet I seriously hope you guys turn back on what you’re doing either partially or fully and if you have any common sense you’ll compensate the veterans.
Who’s paid your wages for a number of years? Who’s given a nice warm welcome to new players all these years? Who’s helped countless players get into the game properly making sure that they had the confidence to carry on playing the game happily without support from someone else? You know who? NOT YOU GUYS ANET!
It’s been the loyal veterans who have kept your game alive, helped it to grow and made sure that you guys had money coming in so that you could pay your bills.
Now all of a sudden you throw it back at every loyal player by making the game f2p opening it up to scum bots, goldsellers, and abusive little kids just like WoW is full of.
The current community are incredible and EVERY person that I’ve met on GW2 since I started playing has been amazing with answering my questions, offering to show me around parts of the map, teach me about crafting etc.
I absolutely love this game because it has a community like no other game that I’ve ever played.
In the last week alone I’ve spent over £200 on the expansion and in-game content with you guys but since finding out about the direction that you’re taking the game…….it’s gutting
You, stop speaking for every veteran. No really. Stop it. You dont speak for all of us at all, you speak for yourself, not me, not my family, not my guild, you speak for you. You dont like it, fine, but dont act like every veteran is taking this like you are.
(edited by Dante.1763)
I don’t see the problem with heavy armor characters being able to switch to light armors f.ex. just keep the character cosmetics, and have armors locked to one type of class, so being a heavy armor user, your armor is locked to that classes equipment, when you swap first time, you just get a new class with no equipment on, character looks just the same, with the same name etc, and then you can equip it, swap back and forth and what you had equipped to that class, is still equipped when you switch back to it, and when you swap to a new class again you have no equipments on that class again, I don’t care if this is frequently asked, I haven’t seen those threads thus far, which means it’s appearantly not frequent enough, your point is legit, but not the only point to be made:)
Do a quick google search, “GW2 Forums, Class swap.” Believe me its common xD
New thread hasnt been made in awhile(same with a mount thread, from what i can see, thank goodness~), and probably because its being suggested in the Gem Store item thread, and lets be honest, if this was to be added it would be a gem store item.
As i said though in the first post on this thread, id love to see this
IMO mounts ruin a bit of the map exploration as it gives you more speed f.ex. if it’s just for cosmetics I don’t see any harm in implementing mounts, tho I don’t think everyone would be happy with just that ^^’
My point was the commonness of the question, not the opinions of either side. This gets asked for just as often as mounts, that was literally my point. If ANET wants to add mounts, they will. Ill be sad and leave, but its their game, if they think it will fit in the game they will add them. Just like this, if ANET thinks it will fit, then they will add it, but with how often it gets asked for, and hasnt been implemented, ill be surprise, and if anything it will be a gem store item(good way to make money here, i have two characters i want to swap classes, but keep the names, and armor, since they are both heavy that wouldnt be a problem.)
You also have to take into account armor weight. I suppose this could be limited too, a heavy armor character could only swap to another heavy armor class, but nobody likes limitations to such things.
Not criticizing f2p “players” who are actually playing…if you read my OP you’ll see I clearly stated that. My point is that it is now that much easier for goldsellers to create free throwaway accounts that they then use to send their spam whispers. Until yesterday, I could count on the fingers of one hand how many spam whispers I’ve gotten since GW2 release. In the space of 15 minutes I got two yesterday.
Funny, the first day i logged back in after a really long break(last week), into LA, i got spammed by 5 different gold selling bots. Every day i go to LA, or DR, i pretty much get hit by them if i stay for very long. Heck even the BC has them. I havent honestly seen an increase, in one day since this has started. Lets just see how it plays out over very long.
This gets asked for so often its like asking for mounts
It would be nice, but after three years i dont think it will happen, if it does ill be pleased though!
I bought the game full price, well my hubby bought it for me… to me this whole going f2p junk is bull, it’s basically a slap in my face. I think those who paid full price should get some sort of compensation, and those who disagree are probably those who’ve joined free. The economy is probably wrecked now.
I bought the game at more than full price, and threw out 100$ for HOT, i dont care, i like this decision, i like seeing these low level zones populated like they are currently, its rather nice, brings back memories of when the game first came out!
the guild im part of well one of them, went out in force and welcomed new members to the game in Plains of Ashford, it was pretty fun!
That was positively awesome. Thanks to you and your guild — and the many others who did that!
S-senpai noticed me!! xD
Kidding, but you are so welcome!! Ill pass that onto the guild leaders!
And I’m having a lot of fun with the people I’ve convinced to join. It’s intriguing and refreshing to have more people to talk with about GW2 in real life, and this generates a lot of interest.
I wish i had people to get into the game!!!!! I really do! If my friends hadnt already tried the game before during trial periods id get them to try it now.
Both of them are now considering buying HoT when it comes out, if they remain interested to the game until then.
So it is indeed working as it should. Free to play is a great opportunity to hook players first and then make them spend money.
Both my girlfriend and my sister’s girlfriend have already spent some money on League of Legends too, another free game. If League of Legends wasn’t free, they would have never tried it up, because they weren’t initially interested in it.
The clear contrast between the examples I have provided and your 5-line laugh show the level of over-reaction happening in this thread. Generally, everywhere else, the community’s response has been pretty great at helping newcomers who ask for help.
You are pretty right with your last paragraph. the guild im part of well one of them, went out in force and welcomed new members to the game in Plains of Ashford, it was pretty fun!
His posts gives quite the hint tho… And while I’m working on assumptions from his behaviour, he openly admitted he was trolling, so please avoid putting me on his same level.
Simple. Stop responding to him. If hes trolling, thats how you deal with a troll. And you making assumptions like he is. Heck i could make myself sound like an idiot teenager too if i chose to(And i have, on other websites.). Not all Trolls are teenagers, and not all people who act like teenagers are indeed teenagers
I’m not calling them out, but in the end our personalities and actions are shaped by the ones who raised us, once again I feel sincerely bad for your parents. Wonder if they can see how you’re sunking low now, making assumptions, deciding that ‘giving a not positive feedback’ equates to ‘hang around these forums like this game is his life’.
But again, I understand it’s not totally your fault, so I can’t really be too angry at you.
Age and other factors may be an issue in a convo between people with different grades of maturity.
You are doing the same thing he is doing. Neither of you know the other persons age. Please just stop.
I love how some among the forums claim they speak for veteran players, all veteran players, on this issue. Speak for yourself, not for everyone.
My issue is not with Anet, but with Nexon’s influence. If you don’t know their history of destroying every game they touch with crazy pay walls then you should look it up. And make no mistake Nexon had some influence here.
Thanks, but ive played other nexon games, and ill do what i have done in those other games if it comes to pass, leave.
Well you paid to access and have fun for 3 years BEFORE f2p players. That is what I call value. Next time you buy a game, wait for it to be on sale, but you will wait. It will become on sale eventualy, like everything.
I mean really, you will have 6 years of game time, they will only have 3 years of game time.
Dante.1763
So youre the one who got my real name before I could! ^^
There can be multiple account names you know with the same name ^-^
On topic: I think whispers, and map chat need to be reversed, new players should be able to ask for help if needed.
Don’t worry, the economy will be ok. We put a lot of effort into keeping it protected.
Uh huh, sure……
You uh, read the restrictions on what they can and cant do, right?
Yeah, but I’m not stupid enough to trust that Anet is going to have the community’s best interest in mind.
So, im stupid then? Like really, they stated in plain English, for once on what they could and couldnt do xD

You mentioned hitting the elemental but did you make sure to hit the centaur?
Yup, and my friends did too. We also didnt die, so they should have gotten theirs, but they didnt either!
When we finished we still had the eligibility icon on our UI too.

And heres the writers who wrote Prophecies: From the Wiki http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Game_credits#Writers
Stacie Magelssen
Brian Campbell
Sean Ferguson
Cory Herndon
Caitlin Kittredge
Will McDermott
Bobby SteinAnd heres the credits for Eye of the North, again for the writers.
Brian Campbell
Sean Ferguson
Caitlin Kittredge
Stacie Magelssen
Will McDermott
Bobby SteinLooks like every single Writer involved in EOTN worked on Prophecies, and there wasn’t any new faces in that setup.
That exactly my point. the writers stayed the same throughout the entire game. Not only that but Bobby Stein was the lead writer of the team throughout the whole game too.
Happy to see this. Would be happier if ascended had free stat swapping, tho. This step, even if it’s in the right direction, leaves the ascended system exposed. What’s the purpose of having all those laurel recipes now? It’s cheaper to craft the one you have and convert. What’s the purpose of time gating (celestial) if you can just convert any other?
For the celestial one, you still need to get the charged lodestones, and those are still once a day.
Right, so today i decided to try and get the “Dodgy Crowd” achievement(AGAIN) With some of my friends, i ran around and hit the elementals with my 4 skill(The dagger) While making sure not to get hit(I know i didnt, as i still had the thing on my screen when i exited the instance). But i didnt get credit for"Dodgy Crowd", and my two friends didnt get credit for the “Dont Tread on Me” Achievement.
None of us died, all of us did damage, No one go the achievements, and now i have no friends to do it with as they are all to frustrated after so many trys to do it again.
Sinisters can be gotten out in Silverwastes! Ascended and exotic both, the insignia i mean! The other recipes you can actually buy from the TP!(SLIGHT EDIT: This was for the Sinister Ascended Armor recipes)
crafted myself an entire Sinister set for my ranger not to long ago! No clue about givers though, sorry!
Ah, my mistake! I don’t cruise Silverwastes that much. Thanks for the correction.
Rabid and a few others of its cohort (Soldier’s, Sentinel’s) have highly irregular ways of acquisition. Soldier and Rabid require a lot of luck and salvage, and Sentinel is locked behind guild commendations. That really needs to change.
[/quote]
Rabid, Soldiers and Sentinels ill agree with though! Ive only seen a rabid insignia once! And they should for sure be equal to their counterparts!
(edited by Dante.1763)
Yes yes yes make it so!!!!! DOWN WITH DR!!!!
Does this mean we’ll be able to get gear loads for types that aren’t a part of the standard Ascended set? Sinister and Giver’s are two I was looking at but didn’t see options for.
Though, there’s still a few gear nomenclatures without a standard process to obtain (Rabid, etc). Find gear/Salvage gear for a chance as inscriptions is not an acceptable practice.
