I finished my first one a good two or three months ago, after “grinding” i found it fun, doing a few dungeon paths each day, every day for a like 4 weeks. it gave me enough money for my precursor, the 100 icy runestones and a few tier 6 materials~ It was the Minstrel, and at the the time it cost 253 gold.
Im currently making my second and will soon have the precursor for it, it was originally going to be my first, but i would never have been able to afford 450g+ which is what “The Chosen” had risen to. I convert my Laurels to tier 6 mats(55 laurels a month is nice!), any ecto i salvage from the yellows i get out in silverwastes gets sold. And i already have a few of the gifts done because it was going to be my first one!
I have yet to see this cooperation happen.
My experience has been that for solo adventurers this map seem impossible and even normal party sizes that could manage Orr somewhat consistently are simply eradicated.
And mine has been the exact opposite on most maps. Ive explored the whole map by myself and last night me and two others held red for by ourselfs after everyone ran off to kill a legendary boss at indigo.
Silverwastes was not meant to be soloable except for the exploration. It was intended to take groups of people to hold the forts, escort the dolyaks, and rebuild the walls while waiting for the breach event to start(yes there are players who can do this by themselves). If you are in silverwastes and the bar on the right side of your screen is not filled at all, there will be a lack of people, but once it gets to 30 or 50% you are going to see alot more people starting to show up. After about 80% your map is going to get full, and if any forts arent taken, they will be taken then.
There are also chest farming maps, which dont try and hold the forts very hard and run around zerging the chests. If you are on of those and actually want to do the map, use the lfg tool(Y on the keyboard) and refresh the “Open World Content” Tab until you see something likes this “SW 50%”

Thats not a jumping puzzle sorry…
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fractals_of_the_Mists
Uncategorized Fractal Complete the Raving Asura’s jumping puzzle.
Then i stand corrected!
Lemme edit that post~
I just dont see it as a jumping puzzle, compared to some of the ones out in the regular world that one is fairly easy i suppose(My opinion and i hate jumping puzzles)
Yet you all report even number runs in multiples of 10. You don’t know how many runs you’ve done, you’re just estimating. I refuse to believe that “after 50 runs” you’ve only gotten the guaranteed coat box drop because the drop rate is extremely high- RNG or not. If you flip a coin 50 times, you’re not going to get heads 50 times.
Of course we are estimating, we dont write down the bloody number of times weve done vinewrath. And you can refuse to believe that all you want. Just like my guild mates refuse to believe that i have yet to get a Siege commander spoon despite WvWing for a week and half. It doesnt mean its not right.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/lwd/Carapace-Coat-Box-Feedback-Suggestions-merged/page/7
And this thread, its full of people on both sides, those who have done dozens of runs and not gotten one, and those who seem to get one per run. Just because you got yours does not mean that others will get theres.
Heres another for you, i do Vinewrath with my mom every single time. I have gotten 10 coat boxes, out of 40+ runs now. She has gotten 2. 2 boxes out of the same amount of runs, if not more. She has yet to get a glove or boot box despite farming chests bandit chests more than i do. Meanwhile i opened 10 bandit chests the other day and got 1 boot and 1 glove box. Yea RNG is nice isnt it. Congrats on getting your boxes, Ill stay in my corner of wishing i could give them to other players so that they can get their achievements, because i dont need them anymore.

Jumping over a puddle is different from jumping to a specific location where if you miss… you die.
Different things happen in the brain when you attempting to complete a complex task than if you’re just jumping over a fence where missing the jump amounts to literally no consequence.
The Harpies place rings on the platforms which knocks you off by the way… you can’t just do it a your own leisure.
Thats not a jumping puzzle to me, sorry… As for the harpys, range kill them, you dont need to be on the same platform with them, and at least if you die in there the checkpoint is literally right at the start of the jumping. Its annoying to be knocked down by them ill agree, but its not bad. plus armor repairs are free, so if your armor does indeed break from it then you can just exit(escape, Logout, character select) and come back!
Instead of with actual jumping puzzles where if you die you have to waypoint and or wait for someone to come resurrect you, if they can even get to you without dying. Not only that, but quite a few of the jumping puzzles actually have some unique mechanic to them to make them more like a puzzle.
And ill disagree, if you dont know that on the other side of the fence is a 30 foot drop that you cant see because of how close it is to the fence, but you can see the ground on the other side from where you standing. your brain reacts the same. you run try to hop the fence, and then get your foot stuck on the fence therefore making you fall into said 30 foot hole…well..
plus, its a game, you dont really die, you get an annoying waypoint and load screen for sure! but not a real death!

The way I look at is that NOTHING will get done to the traits system until after HoT drops and all the veterans go to roll Revenants and finally see how bad the current system is. Then they will bombard these forums with complaints about it and within 2 hrs of HoT going live Colin will be in here telling us exactly what they are going to do and they will have it fixed within a day.
But theyve already stated that they are going to do SOMETHING to the trait system. What? who knows, and thats the problem with this thread. We know they are going to do something, we dont know what they will do exactly.
The old thread was filled with veterans demanding the traits be changed, so your thoughts on that are wrong too.
This game is the least P2W game ive ever played. You want pay to win? play World of Tanks when it was back in version 5.0 or some similar long ago version number, where those with money could buy gold rounds and had/have way more penetration than a standard round(at least till they get nerfed soon, because everyone can buy them now). That is pay 2 win. This game is Pay 2…Convenience? i guess? Extra bag slots are a convenience, bank slots are a convenience, infinite mining tools(with the exception of the watchwork one, and that was a stupid idea) are a convenience.
Everything in the gem store in this game is not needed to be equal to the next person. You do not need bag slots to win against another player.
Buying bag slots? Wooooo you can carry 20 more items at most with a 20 slot bag!! Woopty doo! do i buy them for my mains(have 2 of them)? yes, because i forget to run to towns in between farming and dungeon runs and map exploration. I got tired of my inventory filling up and having to throw things away.
I’m calling BS. There’s no way you did it THIRTHY times and got no coat boxes. That box drops far TOO often. I’ve been salvaging them for silk…
Theres is. Ive done it maybe 40 times and gotten the guaranteed one from the first VW, didnt see a coat box for the next 22 times. got one, and then got one on the 30th try. Now i have one or two in my inventory that i wish i could give to players who need them.
Is it bad that i like the hyenas look in the first game more? i used one all the time, they are my favorite animal after all! That laugh!!
but in this game… shudders
I doubt they will make it that dark, but I’m willing to bet there will at least be some prejudice in the story. I mean Rytlock in the trailer clearly says “You can’t trust Sylvari.” And we immediately see people attacking Canach as he says “We are not your enemy!” Clearly there will be some racial conflict. That doesn’t mean Anet is supporting racism, it just means the story will use racism as a plot device to conjure up more drama which is perfectly fine. Some of the best movies involve the issue of racism. The point of the story is to illustrate just how bad racism is, and glorify those who fight against it.
By the way, the whole point of a good story is to provoke a reaction from the audience. Yet you are saying they should have used something less provocative? That’s counter-intuitive.
Not at all. alot of people are horrified by prison camps(different then internment camps like what i dont want to see, the death camps, yes prisoners where held there, but most where jews, gypsys and other “degenerates” or “Wastes of society”) But, If you use a prison camp, you meet in the middle ground, i still dont want to see it(Family members in the military, not fun to think about “What if they get captured” while im playing a game). But at the same time its a good way to tell a story and it will get reactions, and i personally while i have problems with it, i would totally defend having them in game as it would be sure to get threads popping up all over the forums about how horrible it is.
And their use of Racism as a plot device has already gotten some pretty horrible things being said in whispers, map chat and say, near players of sylvari. I had one person whisper me basically saying that i deserve to die because of my character choice. Ive seen other things posted around in map chat that are worse. I dont want to see more of that, i dont want to get whispers like that. If you put in Internment camps where sylvari corrupted or not are held, it will get much much worse, in fact….it will get worse if this idea goes through at all.
Movies can get away with it easier, as nobody is going to go up to lets say..go up to an Asian person outside a movie theater, after watching a movie that included racist scenes against Asians, and be racist to them. Why? because that person can fight back physically and they have to worry about other peoples reactions. Online though, as has been shown in screenshots around the forums and other internet places, when presented with the option to be racist people will be horrible about it, in this game or other games. People take advantage of the ability to not be known for the worst.
I never ever once saw somebody troll sylvari in such fashions until ANET had them get corrupted. In some places its incredibly toxic, i wont even set foot in pvp anyore on my sylvari because of how bad it was the other day. Turning map chat, or whispers off is not an option for me and i shouldnt have to turn them off because of stupid kitten racist players. My block list has gotten longer and longer every day because of things said non jokingly in map chat. its annoying and its a shame to see it in GW2.
I still would rather see prison camps for corrupted sylvari only, than any and all sylvari. and would still very much defend them though, as it does make perfect sense. If they are in prison camps, they may be restored to normal after Mordremoth is dead, we havent seen evidence this will happen, but there is that former Icebrood in Frostgorge sound who is no longer Icebrood, but still hears the call of the dragon. And of course it will makes us feel better as players if we fight against those trying to commit atrocities against other human like beings! But the damage to the player base has already been done, and i hope it doesnt get worse.
(edited by Dante.1763)
This has nothing to do with the community. It’s about the story. News flash! Drama helps sell a good story and get people emotionally invested. I daresay threads like this are evidence that it’s working.
Precisely this, But the idea of an internment camp is a bad one, as it isnt that, it should be “LA becomes place to hold corrupted Sylvari” would probably have been a better, and less provocative title. ’LA becomes Sylvari Internment camp" conjures up images of the holocaust where EVERY Sylvari, regardless of if they are corrupted or not are sent to it, and are tortured and killed there.
Punkinkatt, If you cant find them, i can help you ive cleared those areas like 8 times and have all the hearts memorized ^^ i can run you from heart to heart if need me to.
Unfortunately, they wont be redoing much of the old content, You may want to put this in the HoT Thread as a suggestion though. But ANET really does not want to focus to much on the old content in the game. I agree its boring, but its low level stuff so to be expected i guess.
why not make Twisted Marionette just like tri-head worm a World Boss ?
even if there is no breachmaker, it could be as reliving a past experience.
I think that’s an excellent idea.
I actually miss the marionette. Most people got sick of it cuz they did it so much in that period of time, but it actually was really fun.
Id love for it to be a world boss, i hear it was a great deal of fun! plus it could be a way to get those Red/blue/green orb things for the Spinal blade backpack!
and that’s why i worded it that way. the entire thread is a cluster. maybe i can give it that last straw kinda thing.
the ones i meant have the problems are the crazy ones that will sit in a game, rather than play it and cuss you because you dared try to join in on the fun be it a dungeon/zerg/whatever and it cost them a whole 30 copper extra that night because it took 8 seconds longer than they wanted
Aww i get what you where going for now! These threads(On this topic) Always end up like clusters!
Never ran into those groups so i cant really say anything on them. But this one dungeon run i did…Oh my word…id put For Ascalon Catacombs “P1 80s, Teaching Path”(me and 2 other guildies, one who had done the path with me before, the other had never touched foot into a dungeon) Had another newer player join, and then for the fifth…a person with 22k AP joins and enters…. we wiped at spider of course, neither of the newer members had good equipment(not zerker, not whatever, im talking its stats period.) the 22k AP person instantly starts raging, kicks my guildmate from the party(assuming the other new person seconded) And up until the point where me and the guildie that was still in there with me kick him he rants on and on about how we are noobs, we suck, etc. The other new person had actually left the group shortly after he started ranting.
That could have all been avoided had the player READ the LFG tool, and if he did read the LFG tool then shame on him for joining and trolling a party, my party.
Yup forgot about those 2, OP if you need help with either of those, ill port you up to the top of them!
if a leader, or group of people are so worried about shaving an extra minute off the time it takes to complete a dungeon and stress over making everyone use what they are using…they have serious issues.
like cuddy said, many of us work 8-10-16 hours a day, have a family, a budget, bills etc. we don’t give a rats kitten about your “meta” i have one meta character, and ya know what…i don’t enjoy playing it very often.
me and a couple of my friends run together using builds/gear we want..its actually wayyyy easier when not every member of the group has to play the content as if they are solo.
Not really, thats how they CHOOSE to play, you dont have to like it or even agree with it. And you for sure do not have to join their groups. But it is their CHOICE to do so. Its not right, its not wrong, but its how they play, and it should be respected as such.
And thats extremely rude, so what you work. So does my dad, so do i, so does my mother. My brother has 8 hours of school and 4 hours of homework each night. None of that matters in game!
It gives you no right to join groups who put “LF zerkers” and troll them.(Not aimed at you, aimed at other people who think like this, but join these groups just to be carried, or to troll them) Least you have friends you can run it together with thats for sure! makes it way easier to just relax!
Personally i wont ever join a zerker group, why? its not because i dont run zerker, i do. i dont like the stress it brings trying to do speed runs!
TO THE OTHER POSTERS. Enough with the personal attacks on both sides, its immature, selfish and rude. Nothing gets Discussed that way, and its why threads get locked. Which hopefully is the way this thread is going to go too.
Eh? The only jumping that i can think of that counts toward map completion is the remains of the great wall in Diessa Plateau, which has a skill point and vista at the end.
If you mean the different explorer title things. Kryta Explorer, maguuma Explorer, Ascalon explorer, sorry but it should, its gained from exploring and Jumping puzzles are exploration after all
Except that way back during the Battle for LA aftermath, a dev (I forget who) did actually tell us that the merchants for the Heirlooms and belongings would be disappearing at the conclusion of the Living Story and to use them all now while we still could.
There was also another dev who told us to “hang onto” the Blade Shards, because there would be additional uses for them. (That additional use turned out to be a rather lackluster merchant, but they were technically right.)
So odds are quite likely that Heirlooms and Belongings have no further use. That said, I do think that it wouldn’t do any harm to have a single merchant, similar to Sonders the Seller, continue to sit in LA and continue to accept these tokens.
THREAD NECRO FOR THE WIN. I think your answer is here by the way.

Id love to go…but i have no money for a ticket T.T Oh well, cant wait to see videos of gameplay from Pax East~
As for my guild, Formerly Krak House, Now Pack House. been together for 3 years now(formed during pre release), and at current count 494 members!
Dante, I sure understand that going to one of these shows is a stretch for most people. I’m thinking that mostly those attending will be pretty local (and sure, tickets can impact the ol’ budget, too). We’ll look forward to meeting you another time.
In the meantime, I love knowing about your guild — that’s just awesome to have been with us so long and have such an active membership. Give them all a “hi” from the team, will you?
Awww its not that! i live on the west coast! And i forgot about Pax on this side! Who knows, maybe next time!
And of course! will do!

yea then just kick people if they either dont show the gear or read the battle log to see if the one in question does not got the output of a zerker? Problem solved. No system needed. Also in PuGs you shouldnt demand that everything is running perfectly…or a system just to check 1 stat combination in game…well THE stat combination better said..
Thats EXACTLY WHAT I SAID. My god. I literally said it three times that if you dont ping your gear you will get kicked. I literally said it multiple times that we dont need a system in place to do this. Did you even read my posts in this thread?
And again no pugs cant be perfect, but it players arent reading the group requirements and join up without meeting the groups requirements then they are at fault.
Also wrong on the stat combo, ive pugged many a group where we only made it through because of my condition necro. Why? because i can survive long enough and do a ton of damage over time while rezzing newer players. you can use other builds just fine in dungeons. My posts are not about that, i was using zerker as an example, learn to read please.
seriosly… why we just dont make a system that gives people auto zerk and meta builds once they enter a dungeon and no way to change it… thats what you people ask for anyways.
No it is not. Way to take what i said out of context entirely. If you are joining a Zerker group you had better wearing Zerker armor and you had better be expected to ping it. If you join a “All is welcome” or “Lvl80s EXP” Group then you can wear whatever the hell you want and nobody will care.
I Dont care what you are wearing, unless im in a speed run group or zerker group where its clearly stated what the group is for.
my gear is nothing of your kittening business…neither is my build. Play your own char and dont try to tell me how to play mine…nuff said
It is my business if i advertise a LFG and put in the box “Zerker only” and you join without being a zerker. But that can still be done by ping clicking the gear. So again no need for this.
Maybe instead of gear inspections, there could be a different way.
Something like “minimum requirements” built into the LFG. The advertising leader can set minimum power, precision and ferocity (or toughness, vitality for equality). Only people who meet those requirements can join the party. Solves the issue of needing to check gear without pressuring anyone. You don’t meet the requirements? You can’t join. Simple, right?
This would work actually, really wouldnt have to much of a problem with this. Casuals dont have to use it and never have to worry about getting booted because of their gear, but Zerker groups can stop people from joining unless they meet the minimum
If Living Story wasn’t a part of the advertising prior to release, I must have some kind powers of premonition. I knew about it well before release. And I am NOT confusing it with the “personal” story. I knew about BOTH.
It was not. They advertised a living world, where you do one event and something else happens in the map. I just went and watched the trailer and some of the earlier preview, i did not see living story advertised once(Maybe in some i didnt watch but i doubt it). A Living World however yes.
Living story is something they tried to do instead of expansions. Season 1 failed miserably at this, most of the content wasnt permanent and it only lasted for a short time. Season 2 was and is a compromise between having free releases with permanent content and paying for a expansion for those who missed the free releases, because it is a micro expansion.I say that because we got 2 full zones, and an entire new story, boom micro expansion. And it still didnt work like they wanted it to, its why we are getting heart of thorns.
That’s not all that different from the way things are right now. You have your zerks only ping gear or kick groups, and you have your all are welcome groups. People who don’t like one type will join the other type. Having this feature won’t do anything to affect that.
I can’t imagine it’ll be too hard to implement… they already have something similar for previewing dyes and armor.
Thats where you are wrong in my opinion. if you join a zerker only ping group than you had better expect to be kicked if you arent wearing zerker armor. They advertised for zerker armor, you arent wearing it or are unwilling to, then you get booted. its that simple.
With this, you could join an “all welcome” party or create an “all welcome” party and demand gear inspections. Its really none of your business what gear im running in an “All welcome” party, and it never will be(Granted i run full exotics, mostly zerker but has some other stuff mixed in). But if you give people the tools to look at armor, they will demand that you use it too, and heaven help you if you dont want to let them look at your armor.
My first lvl 80 exotic armor came from dungeons. If you let people look at armor, and you try and join a group, even an “all welcome” group in Blues or greens, they will likely kick you. Its how people in MMOs are. Not everyone of course, but enough that it makes me glad that GW2 has no tools for this.
So i am against this, it has no place in this game outside of very high level Fractals and zerker dungeon groups, but guess what?! you can already demand them to ping their armor in those groups or get booted. No need for more tools its already in game.
(edited by Dante.1763)
They will get harassed. if they join a party whos leader has it turned on, and they dont. guess what, the harassment starts. If 1 person is advertising for a run and a party of 2 or 3 join and demand a gear check and if that person doesnt want to, Toddles.
Having this solves nothing and does nothing for the game.
No thank you. Pinging gear is quick enough already. Takes barely any time to shift click all the gear in your inventory. would it be a little faster? maybe. But its not needed.
You even point out that you did see the emails about the episodes, which CLEARLY states that you can login within two weeks to get them for free.
And this is where you lose practically all right to be angry about not having them xD
I take huge breaks from this game, 2-6 month breaks, but when i would get one of those emails i would log in and get the story. Why? because i love this game, i play it alot when im playing it, and having the story to do on my alts is a nice way to spend time relaxing when i dont feel like farming gold, sorry doing silverwastes. Not only that, but some of them where up for a good solid month before the next one. Did i miss a few? yes just because i didnt even want to look at the GW2 log in screen, but i bought them when i started playing again. Why? Because the story is important to me, and shelling out 10$ for a story mission and some gemstore items? sounds like a win win to me, 200 gems go to story, the other 600 are mine to do with what i please, like buy an outfit, black lion keys, MF boosters or whatever i want at the time.
Ive been playing GW1 for 7 years, 8 now, and this game since pre launch, off and on in both of them. I think its quite fair for Anet to charge for content that was not part of the base game, that expands on the game. More people are willing to pay for more story or stuff to do(Looking at WoW) than are willing to throw money at a games gem store.
Throwing 10$ or 20$ at the game, if you can do it, is not so bad. its cheaper than paying for an expansion in most games, which as all the LS is, a expansion. Plus the price of the game has dropped by 20$ since its release.
And hes right. If you want to see the story, send me a whisper and party up with me, im in your guild you know, and run the story quite often
About the new players, every new player i have brought into this game who has stuck around longer than 2 weeks, a grand total of 10, have all payed money for the living story episodes, without complaining. But most of these where all former WoW players, so paying a small amount(20 dollars) for a story is not much to them, when they are used to paying money every month to keep playing the game. The 2 or 3 who never played WoW went ahead and bought them to, they wouldnt have spent any more money on the game otherwise, as is their right of course.
Its also not insulting. It would have been insulting if they had charged up front for it, which they had discussed. This, paying 200 gems for it after its no longer available for free is their compromise. They also are probably going to be putting a bundle item in the gem store that will give access to all the living story episodes in season 2 for cheaper than what it would cost to buy them separately!
To all those sylvari fans who question why a dark side needs to be added;
BECAUSE IT MAKES FOR A kitten GOOD STORY.
Now i wouldnt personally advocate a death camp, but if there was one in game, It make make for a really poiyant narrative that would actually hook me emotionally and intelligently.
I want a story of black, white and all the shades of grey at once, for that would draw real comparison to real stories.
Totally fed up of this bullkitten good vs evil and no depth to either side. YEY lets all run through the kittening fields with our unicorn rainbow shooting bows and destory a dragon without any idea of what we are fighting for.
Was so happy to see the sylvari turn at the end of the last episode.. That with the mursatt coming back gives me actual faith that gw2 narrative will be interesting like gw1.
EDIT: Just to show how intelligent the story could be if there was a prison camp:
So imagine a camp for corrupted sylvari being made, ellen keil could make her intentions clear that they are to protect such sylvari from being killed in the open world. She gains support from councils around tyria to keep them locked up in a ‘peaceful’ way. Evon sees this as an oppurtunity to further his pragmatic agenda, and brings the asura in to do specific research, to find out more about mordy and the corruption state.
Sylvari even support this idea aslong as its peaceful, and thus some fearful of corruption (maybe they have started hearing mordy in their mind) have actually gave themselves to the prison camp.
Now some time later the player interacts with certain prisoners to find out some of those that are less under mordys influence have been taken away from the camp (they could say they heard screams in the night or something like that).
After investigation, we find out members of the asura reseach team were actually inquest and have been carrying out horrific research on the slyvari starting to be corrupted. We and ellen kiel go to a secret base to find a mass grave and an inquest lab. We destroy it and happy days and realise the dangers of such a prison camp being made in the first place… But the kicker is, for those that are truly corrupted being targets out in the open world, the prison camp is a nessecary evil until mordy is defeated and the corruption cleansed… giving us the players more climatic reasons why we have to kill mordy.
Then when you piece this together with the theories of dragons being forces of nature that give the world balance by consuming abundant magic.. you have a recipe for a really deep story where doing the right thing might not be right. A story of shades of grey.
Frankly, i wouldnt have a problem with it if, and only IF it was for those Sylvari who lost their minds to the dragon like Scarlett. My Sylvari would have no problem with that either, since the Sylvari in it lost their minds and are dangerous. And the “Attack” on the laboratory would be a neat dungeon too! but calling it a prison camp, and going with more than a few of the responses in this thread, about putting all Sylvari in it? No. Thats when it becomes a kitten-esque style prison camp. But, imprisoning the Sylvari who lost their minds to Mordremoth and are actively attacking innocents? I have no problem with that.
My problem with your story is, from what we know so far, Mordremoth doesnt influence them slowly. He took Control of Scarlett, and Arian(however you spell his name) Over time because he was not yet awake. Yet when the pack goes to attack him in the air fleet, almost all the Sylvari outright get snatched by Mordremoth almost instantly.
So maybe instead of having the Player character talk to a Sylvari prisoner, maybe have them talk to say…a citizen of Lions Arch, Could be a human, Charr, or Asura, or even one of the sub races in the game. Heck it could be a Skritt who broke into the laboratory to steal shinies for all i care and come upon a mass grave or even a experiment in progress.
Duel option won’t bring any harm into the game. Don’t see any reason why we still don’t have it. And I’m pretty sure that most people want duel option. At least we all would have fun
63 against no exception.
21 against dueling unless its in specific areas where nobody sees it, and you dont have to take part unless you go into those areas.
32 for dueling.
8 for open world pvp(Not what the thread was about)
19 non specific answers
Most people dont want this. sorry. And this is just from a small sample, from the last thread, that got deleted.
I don’t want to kill the brainstorming….. but, there are no new weapon types being added in Heart of Thorns. Though, specializations will allow professions to use existing weapon types which they currently cannot use.
Awwwww Why no love for the paragon and the dervish!!! T.T been wanting to have scythes and spears forever now! Since the game was announced while i was playing Gw1 as a E/P
Still never had a problem with this in hundreds of runs. Maybe I"m just lucky!
This! then again, i never join groups i wont work in, i avoid zerker groups, etc. if i join a group and it has 4 people in one guild i leave, because i dont want to get kicked from the final fight so they can bring a guild member in, yes its happened to me. And i use the LFG tool all the time if i cant get a guild group!
“Justice” Id like to hear their half of the story frankly. There are two sides to this, and without the other its an incomplete picture.
The Living Story was part of all the advertising prior to GW2’s release. It was assumed it was a part of the game as purchased and through normal updates. It’s part of what made GW2 the most anticipated mmo of the year back about 3 years ago or so. It’s very disappointing to know they only intended it to be free for people who play the game without ever having to take a break from it. And only if they’ve played from the start… newcomers be dam’d.
Don’t get me wrong… I started playing right after release. But I did miss season 1 because, unavoidably, I had to take leave of the game for a bit. I just believe this is a form of preferential treatment aimed at regular players. Excluding would-be regular players who are new to the game. There should be no preferential treatment of any player group.
They could have charged for living world up front. But they didnt, they allowed EVERYONE to have it FOR FREE during the 2 WEEKS to a MONTH or even TWO MONTHS it was up sometimes, If those people bothered to Log in. LOG IN, they didnt even have to play, they just had to update the game, click start, pick a character, accept the green star, and exit. thats it.
And they never, NEVER stated that it would be free. they stated from the beginning of Living story season 2 that it would be free for the duration it was up, and then you would have to pay 200 gems. They changed how the Living story worked so it would be permanent to new and old players. For new players its a mini DLC, same for returning old players who didnt log in.
Im sorry you think that players who you know, play the game shouldnt get stuff for free, or you know who can spare a few minutes to log in and do the above.
If you take a break, its a shame you couldnt spare some time to log in, but thats your choice.
Personally i have the newsletter, so even when i was taking a break, i would get a notice saying a new episode was up and i would update the game, log in and get it, and then exit.
Ask any of the officers in my guild. i will vanish for 6 months out of the year, but if a new living story episode came out i would log in. Its not that hard to do and it takes very little time.
Living story season 1 isnt available, to anyone, what so ever. Even to those who dont take breaks from the game do not have access to living story season 1. I dont know how many times ive said that in guild chat.
My dad has a saying “when you assume, you make an kitten out of you and me” Unless it said in writing that it would be free forever, which GW2 is not, Its buy to play, and you get what you pay for, The game in the box the entire world of tyria, wvw, and pvp. you shouldnt assume such things, for any reason.
Hell my brother cant even play the game right now because his computer cant run it, but he still is capable of loading the game to get the free release.
And they wont be fixing it, its not broken. They reward loyalty, and thats a good thing. Its a shame you couldnt take part in season 1, because thats gone, and while they are working on bringing it back like season 2 is currently, thats a long way off.

AHAHAH!!! Omg!!!
How about a compromise.
Lets see how many Mastery points a mastery will cost as Account-Bound. (lets say 100)
Then turn it Character-Bound and have it cost half of those points (50).
Then have every time an alt attempts to learn a mastery that another character already knows, it will cost half of the last time. (from 25 to 13 to 7 to 4 to 2 to 1 and stuck there.).
The total grind required will be almost the same. You might want to learn a different mastery to an alt, and have it be cheaper afterwards for your main that might not have that many points left.Or alternatively they could make it free to learn any mastery you’ve already learned once, but instead hide the trainer and/or have some special event to “win his trust” or something, to keep the Metroidvania challenge active!
Still no. That would take so much development time. Not only that its GOING to be account bound, theve already announced this. I dont care how much grind you try and get rid of, i dont want to do it per character, i dont want to do it across all my alts. I want this to be one and done like its going to be, because i swap characters halfway through playing. play for 30 minutes on 1 toon flop to another, then i might flop back. Having to grind it out on each character would be annoying as has been stated.
This game is incredibly alt friendly and me and my whole guild of almost 500 people cheered when it was announced to account bound. Why? because we all play multiple characters.
Not everyone likes Metroidvania either, i know i dont. But i dont mind this system, Why? because i only have to do it once.

Well here’s the situation?
Yesterday, I was in a Cof P2 run that is advertised as “lvl 80 experienced zerker fast”
And one guy, obviously new, not stacking with the rest of the group, calling for ress when obviously the WP is available. How did he die in the first place is anyone’s guess. I had to spam a wall of gallery of rage waypoint in chat to get his attention. Finally, when we are at the last part of the dungeon, where everyone is standing next to a flame acolyte and when we say kill, he didn’t kill his target and rush to the center because he see everyone else doing it (Even his dps is bad), and end up dying to the red rings. Then I voted for a kick and he got kicked instantly, no hesitation what’s so ever.
The point is, I can stand someone who doesn’t know anything and acting like he’s experienced. I don’t mind someone telling me he’s new and I’ll gladly explain things to him, it still saves more time then what I just described above.
When I first started out gw2, I was in the same shoe. I get kicked, I learn from it; before heading to dungeons, I look up speed run videos. When you started doing the same paths everyday for the next 6 months, every seconds counts.
Then nothing will happen and you are in the right for kicking him, he didnt follow the LFG advertisement and therefore should have been kicked.
I have no problems with kicking someone for those reasons. It makes perfect sense to me. Not only that, but him reporting you wont do anything. Anet can look at the advertisement probably and if he doesnt fit the criteria well to bad for him. his fault for joining a group that he shouldnt have been part of.
There are still people of Canthan descent living in Tyria. Maybe they got together and pooled their funds to set up a holiday honoring their heritage.
Did none of you guys notice the buff?
It says:
“MEMORIES OF HOME”.Clearly this is the Canthan dragon festival organized by Krytans of Canthan descent.
Thats our point really, this is a Canthan event, it should have been in game for the last 2 years, but ill take it for sure now!
Then make more. Like every single person has to do. The time gate is a good thing. It allows crafters to make money for once by selling those damask, ingots, leather. If you want more than one set of ascended gear, then you make it.
And you are wrong, it is something you do. I dont move my ascended armor between characters, why? because not all my characters use the same rune set up. Is it sort of annoying? maybe, but its a good thing to, plus the stats arent much better for ascended armor than exotic armor. There is a difference, but its not much.
Oh please. i have 12 characters i play, i dont feel punished with this system, rather because they are account bound. i feel rewarded. I move my ascended weapons between characters that i play the most, 3 of them. the rest are kitted out with exotics.
My 3 main characters are going to have their own ascended armor in time. I plan on making 3 sets of light armor, 2 zerker and 1 sinister, so that my three most played can have their own armor. Could i move one zerker set between the characters? yes, but im to lazy to run to the bank. Id rather make 2 sets. But i dont feel rushed, Ascended armor is not needed, so i dont have the feeling of “I NEED IT NOW!!” and can rather take my own sweet time making it.
Which…is a good thing because i refuse to buy crafting materials.
Another thing. if i go into a store and buy a blue shirt, you know what i still have to do if i want another blue shirt? pay for it! which ive done before!

It would be nice to allow people to craft the kitten star.
Afaik there is one key item you cant get anymore and you cant make the star without it.
This so much this! i was unable to play during the wintersday event because my animals ate my power cord.
And now i cant get that star T.T
Real life happens, but it would be nice if the star wouldve stayed around after wintersday
I don’t think my post was confrontational or abrasive at all. I’m just expressing that I’m slightly irate that as an Elementalist, I need to pay 5x as more for my ascended armour.
Its both of those things. But im with you here, the cost of linen is insane compared to the cost of the leather and metal and even wood of the same tier. Silk too, even with the chest farm in SW. So some way to get cloth would be welcome.
Try being year of the rat. No love for rats.
Edit: Although, 2008 was celebrated in GW1 for the rat. And your year comes up in 2018!
Well! maybe GW2 will do something for the dog!!
There are still people of Canthan descent living in Tyria. Maybe they got together and pooled their funds to set up a holiday honoring their heritage.
This. there are quite a few characters running around with Canthan names. So saying Cantha doesnt exist is just being ignorant. I for one am a dog, nobody has celebrate the year of the dog in any game ive seen!
Although, ive see threads where segman has responded hes a troll, its what he does.
There are horses in guild wars.
First game had necrid horseman and ghastly ones too.
While there are horses in guild wars we never see them. The necrid horseman and ghastly horseman were dead. and very easily could have been raised by a necromancer to look that way.
You and like everyone else whos seen it on the wiki xD i want it too its cool
I dont know, but when i get a “noob” in a dungeon who very obviously started playing, i offer them helps and tips and stuff. Treating them like a kitten is not a good way to make friends, nor make them stay around the game.
Plus! if you help them now later on they may help you if they stay with the game. not only that, but taking a few minutes to teach a newer player the dungeon is a sure fire to ensure that person comes back to that dungeon. Once they know the boss fights, where to go, what to do etc. They are very much so willing to come back if you ask them too, or on their own!
So take the time, help a noob!
Well, define bad? i mean if they where being rude totally understandable, and unless you put in the LFG thing that you wanted experienced people….Then well you should expect some bad players to show up, i always try to help them if they are willing to listen. if they arent, they get two chances and then i kick them.
Well, that is totally your opinion. i find quite a few armor pieces to like nice, even on my charr. its a bit harder to find armors that look nice i will say, but you can still get some nice looking armor.
Looks fun to me! will for sure be watching the stream tommorow for sure!
