I’ve seen 1 drop in 3 years. Saw a few in beta, but pretty much nothing after that.

Just so they know:
Anet: your BLK are such a rip off. The fact that the average price for ONE weapon skin is more than $20 should make you feel ashamed of yourselves. That’s ludicrous. Especially in a game that is touted as having a cosmetic end game. You have a game with some of the worst rewards in it’s genre then make the only interesting rewards $20.

I mean the whole “progressive” in-you-face overplayed romance between the two most boring characters in the game was already getting on my nerves, but having to hear those two kids harping on about it every time I’m at the bank in LA is REALLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYY annoying.

As someone else said:
10 stacks, 5 blooms.
Takes 450 blooms to get both Grasp and Shoulders
4 Days, 1 Event per hour
90 hours
(minus 6 for sleep over 4 days)
5×90
MEANING
450 blooms total
If you take NO SLEEP

Unless they are only dropping like 1/6th the amount of blooms they originally wanted, they apparently thought people being able to get something like the shoulders & the gloves was FAR too easy/fun. I just don’t get that mentality. For something so grindy why not let ppl earn the whole dang list of rewards? it’s not a challenge, it’s not interesting, it doesn’t change much of anything to let us get a bunch of this stuff except that we’d have more fun.

Factions MORE THAN DOUBLED the number of armor sets.

not that I’m not a bit disappointed myself, but keep in mind that Factions only had humans to deal with. Even just adjusting for Norn and Sylvari takes some extra work, adjusting for Charr and Asura is a mess.

That’s true. But every single class had it’s own gear and they also also had half the # of people working on it. Adjusting may take work, but it’s hardly like sculpting a new set. It probably takes more time just to design & concept a new set than to adjust one to fit a Charr.

we already know from datamining they aren’t even close to the size of some of the old maps, don’t know why they think they can say that.

You are aware that Datamining only finds stuff that is currently in the client, right? That means that unless every single part of the expansion is already in the client, your statement is rather premature.

Heck, as far as I am aware we still don’t even have the full Verdant Brink map datamined.

How many years are people going to say this & be proved wrong? It’s happened over & over & over.. The people that have said: “no, no, just wait. You’ll see.” have been wrong every time. People have been right about datamining & stuff since beta. The only thinks they’ve been way off on are meaningless things like Marjory’s possible death.

two sets per armor weight just from the OPEN WORLD zones. Not including anything else. like the 10 new PVP Reward Tracks, or the legendary armor. Or any unannounced stuff. Hold your breath until more is known.

And? Are you saying that is significant number of new skins? Even if they did 1 new skin per weight on each map (which to me would be the bare minimum) they’re off by half.. It’s insultingly low. Maybe they really will have a significant number (I expected about 1/4 of the launch number of skins) but from all the announcements HoT looks like an expansion light on pretty much everything but price.

This has to be some kind of joke.. TWO new sets of armor per weight? really? I can’t begin to explain how pathetically small that is.. I would have expected several sets per weight, per zone. On top of achievement/dungeon/etc rewards… This has to be a mistake…

Maybe this is just the Legendary armor.. seriously.. I can’t explain how utterly disappointing & pathetic this is..

Factions MORE THAN DOUBLED the number of armor sets. Nightfall just about doubled.. In a Cosmetically-based progression game… they add 2. This just can’t be right. There aren’t that many new monsters.. they didn’t add new emotes.. what are the artists working on? Based on how quickly they made the original game, there should be multitudes more sets.

we already know from datamining they aren’t even close to the size of some of the old maps, don’t know why they think they can say that. Just because they have layers doesn’t make them 3x the size they are on the map. In fact Anet said previously that layers don’t cover the entire map area. So, no, it’s not “12 maps”.

At any rate this is hilariously small & I hope people call them out on it.

Right. Because its just outright impossible to balance a rifle on a thief to keep it from being OP. Lets give them a stick instead.

Whatever dude.

If they did balance it, you’d be crying it was too weak. You’d whine that it removed stealth or crippled you or didn’t do enough damage. You can balance a nuclear bomb, doesn’t mean it’ll be fun or that you wouldn’t whine about it. The drawbacks would have to be monstrous.

Didn’t read the rest past this point. The devs have favored PvE compared to PvP since the game’s release. Saying they balance this game around PvP is a complete joke.

I can’t think of a more untrue thing to say about the balance in this game. Even Wooden Potatoes (who loves PvP) admits that one of the biggest problems with the game is that they balance everything around PvP.

I’m also curious to see if defiance makes CC better in PVE at all too or if its just another joke PVP balance.

The new defiance does nothing to make CC better in PvE. It’s exactly the same, but instead of removing 1 stack different skills remove different amounts. Then when defiance is gone, your CC doesn’t actually effect the mobs, it just triggers a boss phase it really is a joke.

CC is already ridiculously short duration, but against bosses it actually has no function. I don’t know why they make it so puny in PvE. DCUO & NWO have awesome, super fun CC.

it’s the main reason CC blows in PvE. how fun & useful is a 1 sec KD & a 3 sec root. it’s hilariously not worth it.

With marriage equality being the law of the land where anet exists (and a few other countries as well) you would think they would assume there just MIGHT be some same sex weddings.

I think you’re being extremely disingenuous. There are more forefront homosexual romances in the game than there are hetero. The only heterosexual relationship that has any significant focus is in 1 of the Asuran storylines. To say there is any discrimination or bias against it in this game is to the exact opposite of the truth.

It pays, but abusing the weaknesses of human minds (free will does not exist) is hardly an honest business modell.

Thank you for seeing my point

The problem is that point is totally fallacious. If free will doesn’t exist & people do things because they have no real choice, then the business can’t be dishonest since the creators of that business model had no choice in creating it.
You can’t say people’s minds have an insurmountable weakness then only apply that where it fits your argument.

Eh I’m just making them so I can unlock them in the wardrobe . ..

Well, I think all of us that got them are. That’s why I started so long ago. But, again, it doesn’t make the reward not lame. It’s not easy to get those items. They aren’t Lgendary, they aren’t even Ascended (even though they are much harder to make than Asc weapons) making the single, rare-quality, recycled skin back-piece reward significantly better shouldn’t be a massive game-breaking request like people are making it out to be.

You make those items because …

1) you like the back pack
2) you like the individual items
3) all of the above

In the case of 2) and 3) the backpack doesn’t matter. It’s just an extra thing.

Of offense, but you can’t tell me why I wanted something or how I value it. Also, your conclusion is completely flawed. If I like both the items & a reward, that doesn’t somehow make the reward less important.

Why I got the items & what I think of the reward don’t effect one another & they still both exist. So, yes, the reward is lazy & weak. & that I have it doesn’t change the fact that they should improve the quality of it. Anything lazy & weak in the game should be improved. Skins not less than skills. (especially in a game that publicly says it’s a skins-based rewards game)

Why didn’t you just preview the skin before starting on the whole thing? You can even do that from the achievement window.

I started long before the reward existed. Also, not sure how previewing it makes the reward any less lame. It’s lame & lazy. Full stop. I had hoped they would have at least fixed the color & fx before I finished, but they kept with tradition & made a weak reward.

Spirit Smith Disappointing For No Good Reason

DarksunG.9537

I recently acquired the Spirit Smith & I was pretty disappointed with how little work went into it for such a time-consuming achievement. At the very least I expected the backpiece to match the weapons.

Reused skin
It’s got the wrong colors (not blue)
No swirled wood texture on the chest or anywhere else
No flames.

The flames & the color are the ridiculously bare minimum that could have been done with it. It’s frustrating to see how little care goes into some of these skins & yet the full-time effort done with the gambling-based lockbox skins. Heck, the 2 bow skins are exactly the same, so they obviously just added it to pad-out the achievement. Could we at least get a nice reward?

It’s not like we get a Legendary or even Ascended backpiece or even a unique mesh. but can we at least get the right textures & fx? Anet you have been constantly criticized for poor rewards. Doing things like this just adds to the problem, & for what? Why make the reward so lame? Adding flames & making it the right color doesn’t’ take a significant length of time. Making it actually unique & cool obviously doesn’t either (you’ve pumped out tons of gamble-to-win skins with tons of effects & detailed meshes.) & gives something cool for ppl to work towards.

Some people don't like hard mode

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: DarksunG.9537

DarksunG.9537

If you want harder content because you want access to rewards that most players can’t have, then that’s just being a selfish jerk, and I very much hope that ANet does not indulge you in that.

If you want the same rewards as someone who puts in WAY more effort, skill & time than you do, you’re being a lazy selfish jerk.

The whole “lazy/bad players deserve just as much as the great/hardworking players” is just scary. I don’t much care for hardcore content, but I sure as heck don’t delude myself by thinking all rewards for all activities should be equal.

A small word to those that want exclusive looks as rewards for harder content:

I will not respect you for having these “rare” skins. I will not bow down to you, treat you any better than any other player, or even assume you have actual skill at the game. I do not care if you have the PvP wings, raid-only boots, and the kitten less chaps of WvW domination.

However, if I see you wearing all of the above, I’ll know you’re a clown that can’t dress themselves. That you’re someone shallow enough to think that such things should be important to how people view you. And that you’re someone I’d prefer to avoid, if not outright disrespect.

My respect goes to those that prove themselves to be good people. That know how to make a good looking character. That I’d actually want to be around. THESE are the people that make a good community, rewards don’t do that.

I don’t want overly locked or “high skill only” skins, because that can cut them off from a lot of good players. I want those good players to be happy and stick around. But when such exclusive skins do happen, I don’t cry too much about it. It’s just another indicator on my “worthless player” check-off list.

Lol since you don’t actually know these people, to judge them poorly based on things they have actually accomplished…only makes you look like you would be the one not worthy of respect.

Agreed. Palador’s entire post was very ironic.

[Beta] Deflecting Shot

in Guardian

Posted by: DarksunG.9537

DarksunG.9537

My main problem for this is that it’s centered 100% around PvP & i’m sick of PvP centered skills. PvP balanced skills are so boring in PvE.

Blocking projectiles is only useful in PvE when the block lasts for more than 4 seconds and it blocks many projectiles coming from many directions.

Blocking 1 projectile in PvE is worthless. Doing it once every 10 seconds with a moving object that lasts for 1 second is just a waste of a skill slot. Very few mob projectiles do enough damage to make stopping 1 significant (& the only ones that do are unstoppable boss projectiles) & all the major damage coming from mobs is aoe.

Deflecting shot should do a KB so we can push mobs into our traps & keep them at distance, something we can’t do well with our new ranged weapon. The blind is ok I suppose but it’s not that great & it’s not fun.

Dragonhunter BW1 Feedback Thread

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: DarksunG.9537

DarksunG.9537

I did have fun with the DH, but I agree with a lot of what’s been said.
My major issues were:

1)Again.. CC is made significantly less fun by making the duration short & the activation slow. If you have to do this for PvP sake, fine, but apply it ONLY IN PVP. stop balancing PvE around PvP. Most of the important mobs are already immune to an entire spec (control) do you have to hamstring it even more?

2)Slow trap activation is a bit ridiculous. The bow dmg is low, do we really need an activation time so that we do less damage?

3)Not enough actual control. There should be a KB or a pull so that we can actually manipulate the enemies into the traps instead of having 1 option. aggro.

4)The projectile blocker is a waste of a skill. being able to stop ONE projectile is absolutely meaningless in PvE since pretty much every meaningful attack that any mob does is an aoe. Stopping projectiles in PvE is only useful when there are many mobs attacking from all directions at once. This ability should be replaced with (or also have) a pull or a KB. Stop balancing PvE around PvP.

5) The new virtues need new passives. Not only is it supremely boring to have the same passives, but it mean the class mechanics are actually still the same. That’s not much of an Elite Specialization.

6) The whole “Dragon Hunter” theme is supposed to be a big game hunter/foe of the great evils & yet it’s pretty terrible vs Champions & Bosses since the damage is low & the control is completely useless against them. It would be awesome if somehow this was the only spec with CC that worked on mobs with defiant, but something’s gotta change if you want the theme to fit. Right now it should be called the Creep Hunter cuz it’s good on lots of weaker enemies.

7) I absolutely love Bow 5 but the wait for the cast before the CC is brutal. feels like yet another PvP only balanced skill.

I like it, but the amount of setup required to do decent damage & the fact that traps are melee makes it a meaningless option. If the CC lasted way longer & we had KB I think this spec would have a distinct reason to be used. Right now It’s not even a good Ranged option cuz I have to drop traps at melee or spend the entire fight walking backwards (which you often cannot do for many reasons)

Actually the bug of the symbols (the trait that apply a increased damage on the enemy on the symbol add the damage for Every symbol under the enemy) is “fixed”. ANet had set that the trait don’t work XD

Then, there’s no more a OP damage from the guardian broken build.

Actually the Guardian is in a good spot (for real this time!).
There’s different builds for different situations and playstyles.
I play condition with carrion, sword/focus and scepter/torch, trait of radiance, valor and virtue, full meditation. it’s the new condition build (one of the many) that you can do. Actually the burn damage is very high and the guardian is the best class to apply it.
In spvp I can deal 4-5k/sec of burn, more in pve. (and I can deal a good direct damage with the power in the carrion equip and the passive/active critical rate from traits and fury).
There’s always the dps direct damage build, that work very well.
And the “old but gold” supporter build with shouts (and now with the new Op elite shout that grant wuickness and fury!), good in fractal and www (and to bunker in spvp).

Actually there’s not a real “meta” for the guardian, like for all the other classes. But there’s a large amount of good builds that you can try and make.

have fun to make new builds all by yourself that fits your playstyle.

Right now I’m finding it very difficult to take any damage at all. regardless of weather I have zerk or pvt… I was in TA & 1 hit from 1 volley from the spider boss brought me down more than half. I’m gobsmacked at what I’m doing wrong. My friend is playing a Necro & she can out-tank me any day of the week, without lifting a finger.

Are there any valid PvE Spirit Weapon Builds?

in Guardian

Posted by: DarksunG.9537

DarksunG.9537

Been suggesting since launch that they make them more like a mix between warrior banners & ranger spirits.

By that I mean they are invulnerable, immobile & have 100% up time when traited into.
You place them in a spot to grant all allies nearby a static stat boost.
Then they can be commanded to grant the guardian a special effect on their next attack.

Definitely don’t want that. Static buff items are boring. Seems like there is so much more potential with these weapons to make them interesting. I’m not sure I understand how they think they are fine.

I was wondering if with the recent changes there are any builds using Spirit Weapons that are actually valid/worth using? They always seemed like a cool idea but a massive wasted opportunity.

They could have been something really cool & unique, but in my experience they seem completely worthless. An entire set of traits & skills that there is literally no reason to use. The could be totally removed & make no difference to the Guardian overall.

I feel that, like the shield, the Spirit Weapons need a complete re-work to be something completely different. They need to be something unique, fun & valid. What do you guys think?

because the game doesn’t have a true blocking mechanic where I can block whenever I want,

That’s because block absorbs the damage entirely, instead of absorption based on a block value. We have blocks on cooldown with focus 5 and mace 3. I’d like shield to have a block too (or have the ability to reskin a focus with a shield skin).

I meant a true blocking mechanic like TERA, DCUO,NWO etc.. where you block damage 100% but either have a stamina meter or it’s an integral part of gameplay so using it whenever you want isn’t a problem. Having the channel with massive cooldown is just clunky, boring, & so niche that it’s never worth having.

I think the biggest thing holding the shield back from being fun is that it’s balanced around PvP. It takes all the fun out of the weapon in PvE It becomes bland & hyper-situational, even moreso than most weapons. If the weapon is not going to be worth using, might as well make it a PvE focused weapon where the moves are fun & useful in dungeons etc.

It might be cool to have the shield have one of the longest KDs in the game. Especially in PvE. Something like 6 sec. have it be an actual KD. Right now most KDs are just Interrupts(heck some mobs are getting up by the time you can move your character from the attack animation), but allowing the Guardian to protect people by taking mobs out of the fight long enough for people to be safe from their damage would be a new, more interesting way to protect people.

How about this?

  • Shield of Absorption cooldown goes from 30s to 24s baseline.
  • Shield of Judgement cooldown goes from 25s to 20s baseline.

Added to the release notes maintained in General Discussion.

Edit: For clarification, the shield recharge trait is still there on top of this. It brings the cooldowns from 24>19s, and 20>16s.

It the functionality that’s the problem.

I don’t know exactly what they should change too, but something like:
4 should give aegis & knockback.
5 should allow movement & heal those in the bubble.

because the game doesn’t have a true blocking mechanic where I can block whenever I want, having a static, set-time, high cooldown channel is just clunky, not fun & wayyy too situational to be worth it. the skills need to change. I want to use a shield so bad but the cd decrease simply doesn’t make the weapon worth using.

We’ve seen these arguments for years. Gamers thinking that “if they just made xyz cheaper/if they just add more value they’d make so much money”. It’s just not that simple. I talked to people who’s job it was to maximize hour by hour the income for the games they worked on. I asked, “why don’t they just make xyz cheaper, everyone would buy it!” he said that it almost never equals out to make things cheaper or give too much away. You can drop prices way down & the # of new ppl that buy the product doesn’t make a positive net increase.

History tells us that if business were obvious, everyone would be successful. Since most cos are not successful, then we know that “obvious” =/= success.

Too be clear though, I still think the game is too expensive. But I don’t know if it would be good business to lower the price.

The Ultimate one is WAY too much, the 4k gems + “extra bank tab” would be enough.

Disagree. The items only have a short term effect on your character and don’t harm the economy in any way. The items that DO have a long term effect can be bought with gems… The 4000 gems can, that way, be spent on more cosmetic and useful items like eternal harvesting sickles or picks or axes.

I’d definitely pay €100 for a package like that.

You’ve got to be kidding… there is no way in hell they would offer that much. Yeah, sure it would be great, but Anet is the last place you’d get that much value for your money.

Which is what I simply don’t understand about them…

They could’ve had a LOT more people buying the €100 version if they added a lot of stuff in it.

Someone will always buy more if they get more. €100 is pushing it for an “ultimate” edition, even with the 4K gems added…

No, they wouldn’t. They’d have the same or a tiny bit more. If a co can do something that is so obvious & make more money, they’d do it. The fact is that’s not how ppl spend money. It’s just not. $100 is a hard cap for most people regardless of value. & the ppl that can spend more will spend more in the gem store. So if something sounds like an “obvious” way to make money, you’re wrong.
