Hey Tee, welcome to GW2!
I don’t know what server you play on, but if you’re on Blackgate then send me a message. I can add you to my Guild, we have a lot of people that would be more then happy to play with you.
Rather it’s with us or someone else, I hope you find what you’re looking for and enjoy your stay.
If you’re looking to run a DPS Oriented Guardian, I recommed you check this sticky guide for DPS Guardians.
The first post has a video that explains the different builds and also shows you weapon types and rotations. I’m using the 20/25/0/0/25 build, up to level 36 doing PVE and so far have been close to unkillable. I just blind everything and then cut it to bits.
That thread is an amazingly good guide.
As a dedicated Ranger player, I want to say that I agree 100% with all the people saying we need a ‘stow pet’ option.
The problem we have right now is that our character can’t be ‘on par’ with others for damage output because when you add the pet we would be way over the top. This is only true for open world PVE, the pet is a liability in literally every other facet of the game including dungeon PVE.
What I want from my Ranger.. I want to be the BEST with a bow. Right now, we’re not.. Long Bow Warriors can easily out damage us and they have more utility to boot. If we could opt to put the pet away and bring our ranged damage up to par with Ranged Warriors that alone would open up so much content to us that right now we’re not welcome to join.
I’m not asking to be overpowered, I just want to be up to par. I want the Ranger to be ‘the best’ at something. Right now, there is nothing we do better then any other class. That has to change.
Roll an easymode faceroll over the keyboard and win warrior, its the devs favorite class.
It sucks how true this statement actually is.
I’m so sick of seeing Warriors getting buff after buff while we either get ignored or nerfed. Infuriating.
Now, to the poster above, the sad fact is that Monk’s Focus only has 0.4 self scaling. That’s actually really weak compared to the rest of the scalings(and you probably shouldn’t use more than 2 meditations in WvW/PvE)
Yeah, the scaling isn’t great, it’s obviously not as effective as my actual heal skill. Still it provides a decent heal that’s saved me on more then one occasion and does help with survivability. I only keep 2 Meditations on my bar and play only PVE Content. In WvW or PVP I’m sure it would be less effective. I have only used it in over world PVE and Dungeon Content.
I’ll bite and try and contribute some constructive suggestions once the discussion offically opens, but I find it hard to believe that anything will come of it. People have been offering suggestions on this forum since day 1 and have been flat out ignored by Anet.
After a year and a half of being ignored, I admit I’m hesitant to believe that they’re going to actually do anything to help us. We’ll see how it goes.
The first thing I’m afraid you need to accept is that Anet doesn’t care about us. I know about the thread that clearly shows we need the most help, but I have been playing this game off and on since launch and the one thing that has remained consistent is the constant screw job from Anet. I’m not counting on them to ever help us, they just don’t care. You need to see if you can be happy with the class the way it is now, and only you can make that call.
Personally, of all my characters.. My Ranger is still BY FAR my favorite and my most fun to play. But it comes with certain pitfalls that you have to be prepared for. There are several builds that can dominate in regular overworld PVE, you will be very good for running around solo or with a group and completing zones. You can be good with a bow, but for some reason the class seems to excel more in melee. I personally run with Short Bow and Greatsword.
The pitfall is you will never be able to run dungeons with PUG’s, so if that’s important to you, you’re going to need to look elseware. I have gotten around it by joining a guild who’s happy to accept Rangers because they realize that a well played Ranger can contribute quite well.
There are a lot of different opinions and none of them are wrong. In the end, honestly it all depends on what you find fun. This game is a lot more fun if you cast aside what everyone else thinks and do what’s fun for you. I love the class, so I play it even though I know that other classes are ‘better.’ I have a Guardian that I play when I feel the need to run Dungeon Content and that’s cool, but nothing is as fun as my Ranger. I’ll play him despite the fact that Anet seems to really want me to give up on him.
+ Healing is a big stat for Guardian. I have 2 Guardians, one that’s tanky and one that’s more DPS Focused. My tank is a meditation build so that Meditation skills heal me when used. She wears Clerics armor for +Healing and it’s the closest thing to an actual tank I have been able to build in this game. Yeah, her damage isn’t great, but between my #6 skill, 2 Meditations (I keep the other skill for utility/party support) and my elite skill I basically have 4 heals plus Virtue of Resolve. It also provides a big boost to the dodge roll heal which I use to heal others.
I was thinking of making a 3rd Guardian built around Celestial gear.. it’s an interesting option. I have both sides of the scale right now, Celestial seems the perfect gear for a balanced build. I have never tried it, but I think I’m going to give it a shot.

If you want to be useful or enjoy the game you have to play an ‘Arena Net Approved Class.’ These are Warrior, Thief, Mesmer, and Guardian.
If you attempt to play anything else, Arena Net will keep track of any progress you make and any way you find to be useful and they will systematically remove it all while telling you they ‘care about your class,’ and patronizing you by pretending your feedback actually matters.
This last patch is all the proof you need to realize that Arena Net flat out hates Rangers and wants them gone. Actions speak louder then words, their actions tell the entire story. You have to play an ‘Arena Net Approved’ class or move on to another game.
This won’t happen, and you can blame all the drones that keep buying RNG boxes.
To everyone that buys RNG boxes, thanks for your help in making sure we continue to have to suffer with such a horrible system. The only way to force Anet to stop this RNG crap and just sell the skins is for people to stop buying the kitten boxes.
Do not buy RNG boxes.. do not use cash, do not convert your game gold.. just don’t buy them.
In real life, Rangers use rifles. So that’s still ranged! “Ranger” IS about “range”. In real life, Rangers are NOT guerrilla warfare specialists (that’s Special Forces/Green Berets). Rangers are long range reconnaissance (penetrating enemy lines and sneaking back with information). They are a lethal, agile, and flexible force. They are capable of conducting many complex, joint special operations missions. They are the military’s premier direct-action raid force. So if you want to talk about real life Rangers, the came comes up quite short in comparison. But they are, and always have been, ranged fighters.
Now, ArenaNet made the Ranger not “just” about range, but it still includes “range” as a primary attribute. Yes, players can play a ranger with a melee approach to combat. And I’m sure the flexibility of combat options is great. But you can never, ever take the “range” out of Ranger and still have a “Ranger”.
Ranger as depicted in this game is derived from the Fantasy Genre of the ‘Ranger’ Class, not from the modern day Military usage of the word ‘Ranger.’ Rangers are named after the range as in ‘home on the Range,’ not Range as in ‘from a distance.’ While many famous Rangers are typically archers (Robin Hood,) one of the most famous of all Rangers was Aragorn from Lord of the Rings who is a melee fighter. Same can be said for Drizzt Do’urden from the Dungeons and Dragons books who fights with dual melee weapons. The term “Ranger” has nothing to do with the fighting style or weapon preference, it refers to warriors of the wild who live off the land.
Rangers are not required to use ranged weapons.
Rangers get a lot of crap because a bad ranger brings almost nothing to a group while a bad war/mesmer/guard still brings some utility. Example today i was running CoF P1/P2 and i made the group. We get a ranger and he using a Longbow and a Bear pet. Sure i could kick him but i let it go.
If you want to be useful for dungeons you need a sword and a warhorn so you can melee, then use a River Drake or a Jaguar pet. Your 2nd weapon will be a Sword and Axe for Reflect. You carry a SB for the few fights you cant melee. You also go full berserker or if you cant dodge very will due to lack of skill or knowledge of the dungeon you mix the berserker with some Knight Gear. You wont match warrior DPS but you will be useful.
See, I’m sorry.. I know you’re trying to be helpful and you’re probably a great Ranger player, but this post is an example of what’s wrong not only with perception of Rangers but with every class. You see a Ranger in a Dungeon using a Weapon/Pet that doesn’t fit your personal opinion of what a Ranger should use in a Dungeon and you assume he’s doing it ‘wrong.’ Again, I’m not trying to be snide, you clearly know your Ranger and that’s great. I commend you for not just kicking him, but there are builds different then what you said that are perfectly viable. I run SB/GS in Dungeons and I am highly successful. In fact, I’m normally the best tank in the group often holding ground when even a Guardian has to fall back. Pet wise, we agree (I do run Jaguar/Drake) but there are other pets combos that work well too (Devourers, Moa’s for buffs, etc.) I have seen several Rangers use the Brown Bear effectively in dungeons like COF where the extra tanking and ‘Shake it Off’ can be useful. It’s not something I would do, but that doesn’t make it ‘wrong.’
To answer the OP’s question, in my personal opinion.. Ranger is the undisputed king of open world PVE. People will disagree, and that’s fine, but in my own opinion the Ranger is the best class in the game at open world PVE and can solo areas that other classes need to group for. In Dungeons, we’re not ‘the best,’ no one would argue that, but we can be useful and successful. A full Beast Master Build using a Drake and a Healing Spring can keep his party alive through even the toughest fights, and using a smart selection of pets can deal damage, provide buffs, or other utility. It’s not easy, it’s not a class that you can play as brainlessly as say a Warrior, but it’s all there.
Your biggest problem will be perception. Even though I can handle any Dungeon, public groups don’t want me because of the perception that “Ranger sucks.” The way around this is that I only do Dungeons with my Guild Mates. Just keep in mind that while you’ll be a strong and viable character, others will believe you’re weak and useless. That’s the biggest pitfall to Ranger in PVE.
It’s perception that keeps people from inviting Rangers.
Can Rangers succeed in Dungeons? Of course they can. I run a tanky BM build and control my pets and I do just fine in Dungeons. Of course, no PUG groups will ever know because they won’t invite me just because of my class. I run with my Guild all the time though and I do just fine.
Problem is, badly played Rangers are a detriment to a Dungeon Run and people have no way of knowing when they invite you if you’re a ‘good’ Ranger or a poor one. Warriors don’t have this problem, because even if you suck you just hit things until you die and then wait for someone to revive you. Our class takes more thought and therefore has more room for error.
You know.. it’s pretty frustrating that our cries for help go largely ignored, but if someone that plays a Warrior (aka Arena Nets Golden Child) complains about anything Ranger related, nerfs come like lightning. That video is a good example, someone says BM Ranger is ‘OP,’.. Boom.. Nerf Granted!
Rangers ask for months for someone to fix the #1 skill on our Long Bow.. completely ignored.
I’m a pretty patient guy, I try to stay out of all the crying and complaining, but if this nerf affects PVE as well, that just might be it for me. I’m so sick of being afraid of every single patch, the constant nerfs have to STOP.
If they want to do that, then fine.
It’s a horribly inefficient manner of farming so if they want to waste their time, let them. Letting the pet do the killing without doing anything is half as fast as just playing normal so their only screwing themselves.
They would make money twice as fast by doing it the intended way. If they want to take the hit and waste their time I really couldn’t care less. I play a Ranger, I have tried this ‘method,’ it’s painfully slow even with 30 points in Beast Mastery.
No one with any sense actually does this.
I wasn’t expecting it at all. Nice surprise indeed.
Thank you Arena Net!
A member of my Guild found Dusk in the Event Chest from the Fire Elemental about a month and a half ago.
It seems to just be a very very slight random chance.
That’s because Magic Find does absolutely nothing.
I was a little confused when I first saw this because I didn’t know it was being changed. Of course, it took a few seconds to realize I hadn’t been shorted any stats (I could see my stats were still exactly the same) so I didn’t worry about it.
Really not that big of a deal, I kind of like the new way better anyway.
On the other hand I was briefly farming trash on Cursed Shore and one of them dropped Dusk.
Congrats Man!
I bet you were pretty happy when you saw that.
I’m fine with them controlling drop rates if they came with a subsequent drop in requirements for mats to craft.
For example, Ascended Back Items require 250 of a T6 Mat, how is that supposed to happen if all the drops keep getting nerfed? If they want to nerf T6 Drops, fine, but reduce the requirements for crafting to compensate.
I honestly don’t know how anyone in this game has an Ascended Back Piece. 250 of any T6 Mat is just short of impossible for me. I could buy them on the TP, but I don’t think I should have to spend 150G just to get a back item. They really need to add these to Laurel Vendors. Even if it took me 2 months to get one it would be better then getting ‘bot banned’ trying to get mats.
At least I can make a little money farming Southsun. If they Nerf that it will probably be the final straw. They have to allow SOME way to make money.
Thanks to ANet for fixing this.
And thanks to all the players that provided the data and videos needed to get this issue fixed. We are all in your debt for getting this fixed. Thanks!
I use Stability on both my Ranger (Rampage) and my Guardian (Stand Your Ground) and quite honestly it hardly ever works.
I still get knocked down/back, get feared.. etc.
IMO, stability does absolutely nothing. I use Rampage for other abilities and with my Guardian I only use Stand Your Ground to remove conditions in my AH build. Sometimes it works, but probably 50% of the time Stability does absolutely nothing.
Hi to everyone,
I’m coming back to Guildwars 2, i have played an assassin when the game launched, and now i think its time to come back and try out the new content.
What I’m looking for? I’m looking for a serious guild, I am not looking for hardcore gaming either.
- I want a guild that goes in dungeon weekly, if not daily. I don’t mind following a schedule as long as i can go in vacation once in a while or going out with friends.
- I want a guild that like to share what they learn about the game.
- I want a guild that recruit low level player since I’m probably re-roll a new character.
- I want a guild where my rank can grow with time, as my skills go up and showed that i can be trusted.
So if your looking for serious new player, i might be a good candidate. If you have any question about me don’t hesitate.
Some quick info that might be useful:
- I’m mostly a PvE player, but i probably give a serious look to pvp this time.
- Time zone, gtm -5 (its currently 14h38)
- French is my first language but i can speak English without any problems
- I’d like to do some roleplay, its far from been a must but can always be fun.Have a nice day,
Kadgiko
Deadly Crusaders [DEAD] is one of the larger guilds on BG but we’re always looking for new people. Despite the size, the guild is very friendly and casual. We do weekly guild events and dungeon runs as well as scheduled WvW nights and ‘Newbie’ days where we help new players and low levels do zones. We’re totally inclusive of all levels, classes, and player types. Rather you just want to do PVE, just WvW or PvP or any combination of them, DEAD has a place for you. We also do weekly raffles and other activities to help keep our members involved and entertained.
If you’re interested, please feel free to check out our guild site here. If you would like to know more or if you wish to be invited, feel free to whisper me in game and I can get you set up. Or if you prefer, send me a PM and I can arrange a time to get on and invite you.
Rather it’s with us or someone else, I hope you find what you’re looking for.

I recommend you try joining a guild and run dungeons with them.
My main is a Ranger and I can run dungeons anytime I like. I just run them with my guild mates. If I for some reason decide to run with a PUG group then yeah, I usually just run my Guardian. Sadly it’s just how things are and it’s probably not going to change anytime soon.
If you’re talking for PVE then the hardest class for me so far has been the Elementalist. The class is fine and all, I just didn’t play it well. I preferred staff build since I’m terrible at Dagger/Dagger and leveling was tough.
My Main is a Ranger who I love. Leveling Ranger is almost too easy sometimes. I have also leveled up a Warrior, Guardian, and am working on a Necro and all were pretty easy to level. Might try Thief next, but I ended up deleting my Ele because I just don’t like the class.
Inspect is a horrible idea.
If it was added, it should be for cosmetics only. So if you see someone and wonder what style of armor they are wearing, that would be fine. Otherwise, as everyone else said it would lead to nothing but elitism and division among the player base. As it is, when people ask me to ‘ping my gear,’ I just leave even if I know my gear is up to par. I can’t stand that attitude where you have to be the most efficient gear/build possible or you’re not wanted. An inspect option would magnify that problem by a factor of a thousand.
Sadly, there is an allowed farm that’s safe from bots.. but everyone complains about it.
COF P1.
Why do you think ANet hasn’t nerfed it? It’s for this exact reason.. so that there is a way to grind that bots can’t do. Personally, I would just rather make money slowly off leveling and dragon chests because I’m sick to death of COF P1.
The sad reality is, the answer to this problem is to institute more 5 player farming instances like the one everyone thinks should be removed. No one is going to invite bots into a dungeon party, everyone hates it but it’s the best and maybe only real solution.
Sad but true.
Have your friend click on the ‘Support’ link at the top and create a support account. That is different then his already banned account and he can submit a ticket.
I have been through this same thing twice, if he was not botting he will be restored.. do not worry about that. The problem is, it usually takes until the next day and Support doesn’t work Saturday or Sunday so sadly your friend is likely taking the weekend off.
If he makes a support ticket though, and he’s legit.. they will re-instate him.
Well, I think we all knew they were going to nerf it eventually.
Honestly though, if there were more varied ways to actually make money in this game then less people would gravitate toward these borderline exploits. I farmed this quite a bit over the last week.. why? Because standing there pressing ‘1’ over and over is fun? No.. because there are few to no actual legitimate ways to make gold in this game. If they would loosen the reigns a bit on the economy, fewer people would gravitate toward things like this.
Oh well, easy come.. easy go.
I am starting an internal discussion about our several review processes, to make sure we’re doing our utmost to reduce false positives to a close to 0% as humanly possible. I can’t promise — no one can promise — that we’ll never make an error. But we take this concern seriously and will address it as well and in as many ways as we can!
I’m happy to hear this, because it’s indeed a serious problem. I have been playing a lot less recently because I’m just totally confused on what is and what isn’t going to get me banned in this game. I have been banned twice for doing nothing more then just playing the game. I want you to know though that it is some consolation to know that the issue is being discussed and perhaps a change can be implemented in the future. I understand that your comment is in no way a promise, but I am happy the issue is being reviewed.
While I have had my problems with the ‘botting’ issue, I do want to commend the Customer Support team which has in both instances acted swiftly and professionally to get me back into the game. Thanks to them, and thank you for bringing this serious issue up for review. Your efforts are appreciated.
I play on Blackgate, it’s mostly a US server so population dips quite a bit at night and early in the morning. You might want to give it a try when you wake up or maybe late night before bed.
Best of luck to you.
Borderlands jumping puzzle, the keys for some of my characters doesn’t seem to get used up when I open the vault, I’m not sure if this was changed recently or it’s a bug.
I still do the whole puzzle even with the unused keys so I’m still playing it the way it’s intended.I ask this question because I don’t want Anet to use this as an excuse to ban me AGAIN. I have already been banned on THIS account twice in the past for botting and some other things, all were in error.
Please don’t tell me to refrain from doing the jumping puzzle because it’s one of the few things that I do in this game daily, but If that’s what it takes to avoid a ban then I will have to comply. I’ve been a “law” abiding player most of my life and it’s things like this has affected my enjoyment of this game. I quit doing my favorite dungeon CoE because people doing it always want to do 3 in 1 runs, something that should have been fixed a long time ago. Now when I join some parties they kick me out because they remember me as the player who refuse to exploit and do a 3 in 1 run.
I have dual… quadruple boxed accounts before in the past, using 4 different computers but stopped doing it because it seems that I have to be actively playing those accounts. No, I’m not using any programs to control them all at the same time, I’m merely using them as spotters for world events, pen/shelter etc.
Other thing’s I had to give up was using my old gaming keyboards that have macro functionality to avoid getting a false detection from whatever anti botting/third party program you guys at anet have been using to catch cheaters. I have avoided areas where I have spotted bots because I think a Dev/mod or whoever said in the past to avoid botting hot spots (or something like that, it’s been a long time since I read that post so correct me if I’m wrong) with the fear of getting carpet banned along with the bots.
Sure I don’t have to fear anything if I’m not doing anything wrong, but having the experience of getting banned in the past and waiting 5 days before my account was reinstated was just pure mental torture, people has even labeled me as a botter who’s lying. I think as a player who has supported your company through game sales, and gem purchases (and I’m not just talking hundreds of dollars, you can check the gems loaded on the account) deserve at least peaceful game experience without the fear of getting wrongfully banned.
I share your pain my friend. I also have been banned twice for doing nothing more then simply logging in and playing the game. Honestly, anything you do in this game can get you banned at any time and it’s sad how much fun it takes out of the game. I’m sure many people will dismiss this and say “I have played for X months and never been banned,” and good for them. But eventually, their luck will run out and Arena Net’s heavy handed and overly aggressive tactics will catch up to them. I have never in my life been banned from anything, I follow the rules, I play fair, and still I have these problems just like you do.
I’m sorry you have to go through this as well, hopefully Arena Net will curb this behavior before it totally destroys the player base. As for the specific issue, I suggest you just play the way you want to and if you get another ban then maybe it’s time to consider moving to a different game. That’s what I’m doing, the next time these guys ban me I’m just not going to bother appealing it.
False positives for botting are extremely rare, but they do happen once in a blue moon.
Sorry, but the fact that I have already been banned twice in 6 months for doing nothing more then playing the game says otherwise. There are tons of issues with this and it’s frustrating to hear the moderation trying to minimize the issue and make it sound like it’s such a rare occurrence.
This obviously is not a major problem or we would have had hundreds or thousands of tickets — we do not — and dozens upon dozens of forum posts — which we also do not.
I’m sure you have quite a few more tickets then you say you do because this issue is common. As for forum posts, the only reason you don’t have tons of these is that when you bot ban someone it deactivates their forum account. People who have been banned for botting cannot post here hence the ‘low number of posts.’
Please await assistance from the team. If you need help after three days — and tickets are generally answered within hours — please use the thread above to let me know.
Luckily, the support team is pretty fast on these because these issues cannot be posted to the thread you have pointed out. Like I said before, these people cannot post on the forum because for some reason you also remove their forum access.
Lets stop making this sound like it’s such a small problem and actually address it. Right now I honestly feel like anything I do will get me banned, I’m afraid to even try to play this game anymore. It’s insane that there are items in this game that require 250 of a Tier 6 Mat but at the same time Grinding is a bannable offense. And before you say that Grinding isn’t a bannable offense, I have 2 bans that say otherwise.
I do however, want to thank you for taking the time that you do to respond to issues on this forum. I hope you understand I don’t blame you personally, I’m just frustrated and angry that this keeps happening to me.

I just want to say how much I enjoy videos like this of our ‘weak’ class owning everyone.
Nicely done, and impressive playing skills. Very enjoyable video.
If that’s the case, then yes that would be appropriate. The other method might be adjusting the threshold on how quickly the script reacts to mark accounts. I was only there for 20 minutes at the most, it shouldn’t be flagging me that quickly. I usually don’t stay more then 30 min anyway because with DR there isn’t much point. I figured I would be safe at least up to that point.
My assumption was obviously incorrect.
Ok, I was originally going to post a ranting tirade but have since calmed down and I’m going to try to be as professional as possible.
On Thursday I was banned for the 2nd time for ‘botting.’ I still can’t believe this even happened once, let alone twice. I would consider myself a casual player overall but I do have days where I play more then others. On the day I was banned, I played a grand total of 25 minutes. I got home from work in the morning and had 20-30 minutes to kill before going to the gym and decided to gather some Sharp Fangs for crafting and to sell. I farmed boars for 20 or so min in Iron Marches, logged off and did my thing. Later that day I go to log back on and boom.. banned for ‘botting.’
This is the 2nd time this has happened to me in 6 months and both times were in Iron Marches. The script in this zone seriously needs to be looked at. Don’t worry though, I have learned my lesson, I will never again set foot in that zone with any character I have. I’m afraid that even 5 minutes in this zone will get me banned and I’m just completely avoiding it, even if it’s a guild event. I understand that you can’t post any information on how this script works or even tell us if any changes have been made. I get that if you tell us, the botters can find out and use the information to circumvent your measures. This forum is the best conduit that players have though to get a message to the dev team, so I’m hoping that someone reads this at least can tell me that they’ll look into it.
The one positive of all this is that the Support Staff was once again very professional and courteous in handling of my case. I was banned on Thursday Evening and when I woke up Friday Morning my account was unlocked. The support staff was apologetic and professional and I commend them for their handling of the incident. At least for now though, I would highly encourage players of GW2 to completely and totally avoid The Iron Marches unless you absolutely must go there. If you do, do not kill the boars, even a few minutes will get you banned, just stick to events and hearts. I really hope someone can look at the script for this because 20 minutes of farming should not trigger a ban.
Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. Again, I understand you cannot tell me what specifically, if anything at all is being done but I hope that some adjustment can be made. Botting is a terrible thing and destroys the game for those of us that play by the rules, but there has to be some leeway for people to actually play.
Have a good weekend, and thank you to support for acting so quickly to help me.
These things are just more proof of how little Arena Net cares about the input of their customers.
The forums are full of posts from people who are tired of RNG and tons of people willing to pay cash for skins in the Gem Store. Yet ANet just continues to completely ignore this, add more RNG crap and no usable skins. How hard is it to understand that we just want skins we can buy straight out? I know many players (myself included) that gladly put down some money for the Rox Items and they were well worth it. Why can’t we have more of this? Let me just buy the stupid skins already.. is that so hard?
I honestly don’t know why they even provide this forum, they seem generally uninterested in any of the provided feedback. It probably won’t be very long before some over zealous moderator finds a generic reason to lock this thread to prevent any further discussion.
I’m just baffled why ANet has to wait until peak time when the servers are packed full of players to do their updates. Can’t you do this during off hours when you’re not kicking hundreds of thousands of people out of dungeons and events?
It’s like a restaurant waiting until dinner time to close so they can clean the kitchen. These updates right in the middle of peak times are getting ridiculous. Plan your update windows a little more intelligently please!
I’m going to add another vote for Charr Warrior in COF Gear.
I actually have one, I didn’t realize how incredibly commonplace it was until I did it and then I regretted it. I have a mix of COF and cultural armor, but I think I’m going to just convert everything to the Cultural set.
I wouldn’t necissarily call it ‘boring,’ it’s just too common for my tastes. My Charr Warriors only slightly unique thing is that I’m one of the few warriors that doesn’t use a Great Sword.
It really depends on what you play primarily (PVE, WvW, PvP.)
For open world PVE (outside dungeons) I honestly believe that Ranger is the best class in the game. My Ranger in PVE is almost unkillable, it’s borderline ridiculous how good you can get. In Dungeons, people say they suck, but that’s not entirely true. Ranger is ‘good’ in Dungeons, not great.. but you have a learning curve and it takes skill and good pet management. Rangers are deadly in PvP and can be good in WvW but again requires some skill level.
Necro can be good at anything, but it has one fatal flaw compared to Ranger and that’s the fact that it only has 1 viable build. Necro is excellent if you’re a condition build, anything else and you’re pretty much a waste. Necro’s are good in Dungeons provided there is only 1 in the party as having 2 of them stacking conditions is a waste. They can be deadly in open world PVE due to the fact that they have strong AOE and can stack conditions on groups very quickly. Same with PvP/WvW as long as you’re using the 1 viable build.
Right now I’m playing a Ranger as my main and I play my Necro quite a bit as well. Between the 2, I prefer the Ranger. The biggest advantage Ranger has is variety, Necro is fun but you’ll be pretty much the same as every other Necro you see. You’re a condition build, or you’re terrible. Ranger has several viable options from straight zerker, to Beast Master, to Regen/Healing build and combinations of them all. Rangers have a good variety of viable options.
On my Ranger I use ‘Avenger of the Dispossessed’ because it sounds cool and fits him. On my Guardian I display Golden because her armor is all gold and it works. On my Necro I just leave it blank.
nope. the golden child is and always be the warrior.
So true it’s disgusting.
ANet won’t be happy until 100% of the population plays only Warrior.
It’s seriously ridiculous how much attention they get.
And dead last we have the engineer who gets the redheaded step child award.
Very true. I play a Ranger and even I feel sorry for Engineer.
Do NOT Salvage Exotics to get this bow.
The bow only costs 5 Gold from the TP and you will lose money on even 1 forge. 4 Exotic Shortbow’s are worth more then 5GP and you’ll still be at the mercy of RNG.
If you have 4 Exotics, sell them and buy the bow flat out off the TP.
