Lol kitten Baruch dont you have jobs? School? Something?!
On Augery border Piken could muster around 4 people on a commander (later we NEARLY DOUBLED that, it was amazing!), with a couple of random 1-2 man roaming groups.
What does Baruch have?
A 40+ man zerg.
Of course.

I use staff and sword/focus for my wvw bunker “commander” build. Cant imagine swapping the staff for a greatsword. Its just too usefull for proccing protection and being on the defensive, which is pretty critical for a commander.
That said, of course you can just use the greatsword and see what happens. You do get the push, which is very usefull.
Part of it can be blamed on the community people whined that they needed more places to go. Why is cursed the end game, we hate risen, cursed is boring, risen are to hard, I can’t get anywhere etc. Enter southsun coast, enter new events that don’t happen on cursed.
And its so ironic that SS is even more annoying than Orr, with veteran karka littering your path, events that spawn a million mobs, heavy hitting ranged attacks and the funny new reef drakes that can bring you down to 30% hp with 18 confusion stacks before the loading screen has even popped.
Orr is a walk in the park in comparison, you almost feel bad killing them when they cant even scratch the dye on your armour.
We’re listening. That area was never intended to be accessible, but we’re looking at other changes we can make that won’t confuse players trying to visit their home instance or continue their story, and won’t get in the way of RPers. I don’t have an ETA for when a change will go in, though, sorry!
No offence, but that is seriously overcomplicating it. The instance markers are clear as day, they always have been. Has there ever been anyone trying to do the claw island mission running around like a headless chicken yelling “where is the boat, how do I board it, I’ll drown without a boat?!”.
Sometimes, making a change is as simple as opening a door.
Just make one marker for the home instance in a different color than regular mission markers… Then open that door.
Far better now IMO. Much clearer effect.
The lack of dust on the TP is just one of the signs that the loot system remain completely out of whack in GW2.
Just to take an example experience: While running around the Lyssa temple today, I killed 4 veteran air elementals. I got 1 white hammer for it. Seriously? 3 of them didnt give any loot at all and one give a bloody WHITE item. Its veterans ffs!
Anet need to fix this across the board… But I fear its not going to happen. No, we’ll probably see a new Black Lion chest that has a chance to drop T6 materials for 100 gems a piece instead.
Bah!
As a non-rper, I really dont see what the big deal is. Salma is a small part of the city that’s hardly “required” for roleplaying. There are tons of neat houses and inns to be at in the other areas.
That said, I dont understand why its blocked off to begin with, Anet could open it up with minimal effort.
DsD+Scnd
This guild in particular was fierce, when I was in I saw them twice bring everyone to deal with a random Piken force 1/4th their size at the keep west of BB garrison. By some miracle – odds obviously stacked against them – they won every time.
I’ve since done the same for my Ranger and now *terrorize* Karka and Sharks. They are dropping so fast that I can’t tell if I’m killing them or they are committing suicide!
I’m a PVT Mesmer and I can easily that yes, they are in fact committing suicide.
Thing is, it doesnt matter what you use as long as you play good. Bad players will still die regardless of being in PVT or berserker gear or anything in between. I enjoy PVT because I am WvW built for plowing through a 30+ man zerg and surviving. You have to give something up. Its impossible to be perfect in every aspect, the build/gear system has seen to that. Berserker isnt the holy grail unless all you do is attack small groups of PvE mobs 24/7. Neither is PVT.
but as WvW is all Zerg vs Zerg anyway zerker shines in a zerg…
Pick any guild and I assure you they are running very high toughness and vitality on all frontliners. Only backliner necros/mesmers use some condition damage but even they will have at least 1500/1500. And that guild group will plow through your random zerker zerg and down them before they even know they are there. CC beats the snot out of raw damage.

Dont forget its also something that quickly spreads rumours about “spies” listening on the mapchat, causing complete loss of respect for such enemy guilds.
I think a problem is: it gets boring quite fast to defend a tower when no one is attacking
I’m late to the thread, but seriously that line made me laugh so hard.
It gets boring to defend something that isnt attacked?! Thank you pointing that out, never would have thought, lol!
I dont see how making something HARDER to attack (like guards 10x stronger) would make it more fun to defend against being attacked, since less people would be able to attack it. That’s like saying arrowcarts has made it more fun to defend – it really hasnt, its just made it a hell of a lot easier.
The only way to make it fun to defend is to make it fun to attack as well. And that isnt going to happen, because those thinking its “fun” to defend only want the easy way out and those thinking its “fun” to attack think the previous mentioned group are kittens.
This seems like a good, simple counter. Nothing to be laughed at. This would also address a lot of other complaints about stealth.
Its not good at all, since it negate one of the primary purposes of stealth – being stealthy.
You want to know the simplest solution? 2 things:
- Taking direct damage breaks stealth (conditions dont count)
- Exiting stealth put a 4s reveal debuff buff until you can stealth again.
No more blatantly obvious veil rushes (just put a single AoE field in front of them), no more thief chain stealthing, no stealth stomps in the middle of zergs, no more flailing in the air against invisible theives laying downed for 20 seconds because they popped the house, no more thieves or mesmers hiding inside keeps, more more moving 100m+ while invisible, etc and so on.
Would this nerf thieves and mesmers stealthing? Hell yes, that’s the point. In turn, buff the timer the skills to allow them to remain in stealth just a notch longer (if veil last 4s now, make it last 6s or something).
I can not agree more. Even the Order of Shadows, who´s basic functional unit is a couple of thieves, flying through the map, sometimes finds being surrounded by a blob.
Best regards,
Haltair, one of the Twelve Shadows
But that’s different. When thieves swoop down and insta-kill people, they’re are usually in such shock and denial that the automatic defense is thinking “ZOMG A CULLED ENEMY BLOB JUST KILLED ME!!!” even if it was just a single thief running past them, accidentally killing half a dozen people because he auto-attacked an ambient mob nearby.
If I used the Swedish “nymånens” (but with “a” instead of “å”), would that sound right enough, or is there a more natural way of saying it (like the Icelandic “hins” thing)?
While it may be correct additon of “the” in Swedish, it wouldnt make sense, no. You expect something to follow it. Its like saying “the moons [something]”. Even if you remove the s and just use “nymånen” it still only become “the new moon” and not “of the…”. The only decent way is “[Charname] Nymåne” in this case. But its not that pretty a name tbh – it just make you sound like a hippy. Using something like “[Charname] Nyimani” seem more fantasyesque (even if it may not be correct) :p
I would personally take it one step further and use “Nyimanir”, which sounds good on a Norn I think. Hey you could always claim its actual Norn (which is a real Norse dialect)
Whether you like it ultimately comes down to personal preference. Sometimes one can overthink a name. Just go with what you feel like.

Pros? There are no “pros” with subscription fees – only cons.
The thing is, there nothing that stops Anet from saying “hey if you buy 1000 or more gems in a month, you also get 500 gems for free the next month if you buy 1000 or more again that month!”. Voila. A “subscription” many people want to use without the give-us-your-credit-card-and-kitten kittentery of forced subscription games. Many people in GW2 already pay MORE a month than a subscription game, no doubt.
Is that really A.Net’s fault or problem? In fact, I think, as Beckett would say, that that’s just good business. There absolutely nothing forcing you to go buy some gems. You can still very much enjoy the full game without buying more than just the game. So, it’s really nobody’s problem but their own if they so desperately need to buy gems.
Err… In case you missed it, that was exactly my point. I am against subscriptions and enjoy the game alot because of it… BUT it would be just as good buisness for Anet to give some incentive for spending monthly on the gemstore (such as a hefty free bonus to gems). Its still just gems, you dont get more content than the ones not buying it anymore than you get today. And yes, the fact that this option is missing is Anets fault. Unlikely to change of course.
Don’t roll a thief, imo boring gameplay and brings nothing to small group roams, go for an engi or mesmer. both are very good in small groups when played right.
True, they bring nothing to the group except the ability to kill the enemy fast and effectivly.
Wait what’s the point of a small roaming group again? Oh right – kill the enemy and run away.
Thief is without equal for this (especially on the running away part). 2 theives can easily kill groups of 5+ just by going in, downing one, falling back, separating them, repeat the kill. If the enemy is glass cannons, they drop like stones. If the enemy is bunkers, they take some time but in turn cant really threaten the thief that much. There is no “anti roaming thief” class except another roaming thief, because no matter how they build the roamer is built better for the encounter. When people say they kill a ton of thieves, they are either a better player or the thief wasnt well built. I play Mesmer and I kill plenty of thieves, but its easy to tell when you meet a good one – you die fast.

but I’m guessing it isn’t as simple as just sticking them together. Is it?
I cant know for sure as I know neither Icelandic or Norse, but it probably is. In regular modern day Swedish (decently related), it would be “ny” and “måne” – “nymåne” for new moon.
Edit: Or maybe Swedes are just lazy. I did find one term called “nýtt tungl” which seems to be Icelandic. Maybe someone from Iceland is better qualified to speak :p

Scaled events/mobs still drop level appropriate gear (most of the time), so there is a chance for a precursor of course.
About as high chance that the Moon suddenly come alive and start dancing gangnam style on Mars.
None of the servers, both EU and NA, has Grenth or Balthazar open.
GG on the difficulty Anet. GG.
Good job on the page though, a little simple and slow but it works (presumable) :p
I usually like to open up with a Rapid Fire from my longbow, using opening strike to keep them vunerable. Then I go for my Crippling Shot and Volley to finish the job.
Sometimes the elegent moves of a shortbow is better than a longbow and quick dps.
The clovers arent bad at all. About 30% chance to get them, with a fairly high chance to get something else towards your Legendary the other 70% of the time (ie T6 materials). Half the cost is just pure time played (karma and skill points).
Getting the precursor however… Not so much fun. I still havent gotten any exotic whatsoever from dragon events since the launch of the game (I get maybe 1 rare per 10 events, ignoring the new standard yellow)… And I’ve still gotten two precursors out of the forge in that time. RNG ftw.
Great. Now we only need ascended siege equipment that does 10x damage. Bought for AC tokens just to spite us. Also, a new AC token only earned at the end each path is needed in addition to the regular tokens. And you need 100 of them for an ascended arrowcart.
Impossible to calculate, depends on too many things, from skills to traits to enemies you fight. My PvT bunker Mesmer can kill a Karka as fast or faster than any glass cannon thief/warrior, for example (maybe 2 seconds using 2 button presses).
Highest raw damage output is still Warrior axe auto-attack and Theif dagger auto-attack I believe, has been since launch.
Just thrust your giant sword into it, no problem.
there are only two temples that are incredibly hard – balthazar and grenth. The other three are easy. Dwayna can be completed with 5 peeps. If you need gear from balth/grenth… look in the threads.
Yea I still don’t think that’s it, I can produce something similar to this on a dredge boss.
At first glance you might miss the bug, there hasn’t been 1 pug group I’ve been with that has even noticed what’s happening. I think something the same but different is going on with the Archdiviner.
then someone in the OP video should have noticed… in the dredge video its clear whats going on – when the boss has the burning circle, the player is doing 20K burning ticks (!!!). no wonder his hp drop fast as hell. thats like 3 chars popping constant 100b on him.
Unfortunately thanks to our great Glicko system this move will take at least 2 weeks of Piken’s total slack =/
Going by the current glicko system, if we loose horribly we’ll probably gain enough points to reach T2. So I have my doubts about those two weeks.
I wish we could tell Jones to stay the kitten in the camp and sleep while we actually try to accomplish something.
Which could very well be 30 VoTF, that is true. But then you are probably blind to the other 20+ guys just tagging along for the ride, making it 50+.
It doesnt change the fact that 30 remain a very high number among remaining Piken guilds and few, if any, field that at any given time. Personally I think there has been a clear decline even though we still have alot of skilled players on the server. Some commanders have earned the respect of others to the point of random Pikeneers running like a tightly packed guild group on a them. Maybe you are confusing enemy guilds for groups like that? :p
never seen it before, but thats no bug. either its a debug feature anet forgot to disable or its a new one we have all missed, lol.
Dont understand the portal hate at all since its obvious what the problem is – continous stealth.
Anet havent done anything to stop it since the release of the game and it isnt going to happen either.
So its just to sweep and look happy.
I have suggested it before: Hybrid WvW/PvP maps. Smaller maps where you can skirmish over objectives beside the “main” borderlands and EB.
As a simple example: A map with a central fortified keep. No not SM, more like border keep size and 2-3 camps. Each server has a player limit of say 30 but there are also more and stronger NPCs than in the usual WvW keep. The server that hold the keep get +10 points in WvW (supply camps dont count in this map).
They can afford it because monthly subscription to cover “running costs” is the biggest scam in the history of gaming.
And we totally fell for it. Running costs are tiny in comparison to what they bring in. That is why I’m never going to get such a game again and why I am still playing GW2 (and throwing money at Anet a little now and then).
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
Well, there is a point: the new flower backpiece doesnt make any sense whatsoever.
Why does it have an infusion slot? Its just a rare piece, it shouldnt have.
Why is it rare? The other backpiece with the arms is exotic.
Why cant you upgrade it just like the other backpiece?
What was Anet thinking?!
The only way it does make sense… is if open world agony is coming and Anet put it in as a “starter” to get agony resist.
MSI Afterburner. However, filesize wont be very small (over 30gb for 2 hours of 720p I bleieve). If you want small size, good quality and with no effect on fps, you need a capture card. But then you have to cough up the dough.
Fraps is pretty crappy in comparison to Afterburner, not to mention Afterburner is free.
Well, there is the possibility that another player triggered it to scale.
Also, some events are just bugged. Done many, MANY Southsun events, but then yesterday we where 3 or 4 people encountering an event where a single wave consisted of: 5 veterans, 10ish regular mobs, 15+ smaller mobs.
Personally I love wvw but I have to put in some serious Farming time so I can pay for the expensive food/repairs/siege etc ( at least badges now take care of decent gear ).
Serious farming? If you spend 1 hour on ori/sapling gathering with multiple characters you probably have enough gold for a week of WvW. Most dedicated WvW people I know earn more coin in WvW than they spend.
And clones have changed how exactly in the last patch?
Or are you saying that for some reason its been overlooked since beta 1 by the entire community that consist of 90% guardians/warriors/rangers/eles/theives/necros (I will grant you that the engineer is as rare or rarer than mesmer)?
Oh the horror of the ever present OP Mesmers! Yesterday I saw like one mesmer that owned the crap out of me! Wait a second… That was me
Also make it so that hardcore mode make a crippled player permantly crippled due to the injury. Each additional cripple reduce speed further, until you cant use your legs anymore.
Now run through Orr.
Hit the lowly 10,000 kills achievement a couple weeks ago.
I have gotten 1 exotic from WvW. Yellows, maybe one every other week or so.
In PvE you do indeed get HUUUUUUGE loot drops in comparison. Like, an exotic every month from a random Orr mob when you are there for 5 hours a day, that’s just awesome!
Am I the only one that hates all the changes to the EB jump challenge area?
Are you the only one that want to be a jerk and take up a valuable spot on EB instead of guild players that actually want to WvW instead of lolling around in the jumping puzzle?
I seriously doubt it, but that’s irrelevant.
This change is very good. The jump puzzle should never have been there in the first place. It was like a McDonalds with a playground outside. Do you go to McDonalds to jump around in the playground? No you go there to eat. Well, hopefully not even that because McDonalds suck. Normal people go to restaurants and eat good food, without playgrounds and rude kids yelling all over the place. Same thing with Eternal Battlegrounds.
And they can also do Lupicus in less than 50 seconds. So really:
- If the Warrior gets nerfed (for no other reason than being used in speedruns), people will use another class and the cycle begins again
- If CoF gets nerfed, people will pick another quick dungeon path and the cycle begins again.
Either way, it wont do anything. Nerfing the warrior in particular based on its “speedrun” skills is a ridiculous idea. 5 Mesmers, 5 Guardians, 5 Theives, 5 whatever that are properly specced and geared is going to PLOW through the dungeon regardless.
The need to add a Diplomat Tarban/Komali clone to Cof 1 then lets see them 4 Warrior 1 Mesmer through it
Also, you should have to go look for him all over the dungeon before being able to proceed. He is stealthed somewhere on the map (500 possible locations).
Most of Piken’s run 20-25-30max as far as I’m concerned
There are guilds in Piken which can field 30?!? Most active ones I know (yeah, I don’t know much) can barely get 15 in average nowadays… Speedbumps…
Yeah we just get rolled by big groups like votf. When they can stand to loose 15 people and still outman you… Well the outcome is pretty given. Only way to challenge them is to bring two or more groups.
Its been a while since I saw a 30 man Piken guild roaming. Blobs sure, but full guilds are rare.
UNCONTESTED ON VIZUNAH SQUARE[FR]… (EU).Guess it’s always good to look on a french server, since most of them won’t look into the english forum
At least the French are good for something
Thank you!
Please Anet for cripes sake fix temple of Balthazar. Its not a bug but it sure as hell is a big issue. Its the only temple selling obsidian shards (for some obscure reason) and we cannot open it.
We cant babysit kitten AI while they walk up the hill with a diffuse “morale” meter that doesnt even seem to have anything to do with their actual moral, because even if we plow through mobs it still fail. The enemy spawns are through the roof and there is no way to defend against them other than trying to dps them, but obviously the AI got the same idea. “Hey lets rush in and help the players, we dont need to live!”. Oh wait.
Should we really have to plead and beg on the forum for servers that gone through the hours long task of getting this temple open and doing all the pre-events? Would you not rather have us… oh I dont know… play your game like you intended us to do?
Joined in on Elona to help open balth – of course we failed. Its not like any other outcome was expected.
Well I can say where its NOT open – my server.
So… Any EU with it open? Any at all?
