That doesnt make any sense, but ok.
Things change, people leave this crap game and we dont have anymore the luxury of running with pain train like we used to.
I’d call what you did several times pretty kitten painfull :/
Blobbing on EB is understandable – everybody random join EB and SM is a massive blob magnet. Blobbing on borders… not so much. Especially not when you dont need to.
Yesterday, I think it was Nuke, SiN and many others that had breached bay on BB border (Piken controlled). They held the hill firmly. We tried to get them off, but no, they where too entrenched with good guilds. They where outnumbering us badly and wiped us even though we had to bring two commanders, most players on the field and tried to sandwich them there. SiN alone had twice the size of any organized Piken guild present and we know they have the skill to push it.
Yet… Bay was not taken then. It was a halfhearted attempt at best that never pushed the undefended inner walls (except when SiN scared us for a moment by swimming in the water). Was our Bay not good enough for you?

Read the rest of the posts before you comment. We’ve already stated that building trebs and guarding siege for a chunk of time may work but it’s boring and tedious for smaller tower grabs, not to mention expensive. Especially since most PUG players dont carry a lot of siege prints. If Anet wanted to make WvW more casual and easy for new players to jump in, requiring everyone to carry tons of siege to be effective is not the way to go. Most new players don’t even know where to purchase siege. For SM we expect a treb situation. But for towers it’s not a fun playstyle and decreases emphasis on player verses player. What I don’t understand is why this AC fix is not top on their list of priorities.
Is there anything about the ac change that imply Anet wanted to make wvw more casual? o.O
Also, I dont quite understand what a “smaller tower” is. All towers are big, with thick walls and gates. Some are larger with multiple gates and walls. If you want casual and less tedius gameplay, go take a supply camp. Leave the sieges to the ones with the patience to siege.
I’ve never really had any problems with the ranger. Cant even remember when I lost to one as I rarely see solo rangers, they are all blobbers. I dont know, maybe I’ve just meet some really, really poor rangers.
All you have to keep in mind is one important thing – you got evasion, but they are more mobile than you are. If they run, dont bother chasing them. You have to fight on your own terms, not on the run. Try to keep the pressure up initially while avoiding the pet, time your reflects for their bursts (if they got a longbow you KNOW that the burst will come). Deciding to kill the pet first is a matter of opportunity, few has the survivability and damage to kill two pets while the ranger pounds him (unless of course, the ranger is an idiot).
It’s not just T1 that has seen the meta change. I play on a T8 server, we don’t have large numbers to play with. It’s basically become a “Hey they are attacking ET, lets try and take a fortified tower while they are gone.” Then as our massive 20 man zerg PvD’s while we frantically lookout for people trying to get in, cries of “Don’t let anyone in!” echo out of our TS.
The gate is down to 30%
One guy gets through, grabs an AC. “Ok lets leave and grab a camp.”
Yay… fun.
20 man couldnt take down a fortified gate in a minute or two with rams? What where you doing, drinking coffe and playing cricket outside the keep?
DR is still heavily enforcement, as is bot detection. Easy to see with the bugged events in Orr (ie constant spawning enemies). Kill a dozen mobs, oh look now you only get grey trash 90% of the time. Say “Hey I’m farming a bugged event!” in the chat and suddenly green items and T5-6 materials start popping all over the place. Until you kill the next dozen, then you get mostly grey trash again.
I am surprised anyone even bother complaining about a champion that can be bypassed when there are multiple skillpoints that require you to kill champions to even access the skillpoint.
One of my hardest was in the low level norn zone above hoelbrak, its an seemingly easy boss event you have to finish to get to the skillpoint that even my 80 chars have trouble with doing solo.
what is the current state of arrow carts ? we will have fix soon or we will not enter again in www ?
Same state as yesterday? They havent changed anything since the patch AFAIK.
I completely fail to see this “destroyed WvW” when actually playing. Keeps still flip alot, we can still do assaults on heavily defended ones. Yes, arrowcarts are more than just annoying now, they are major threat. But all they have done is force one to rethink careless standing in reach of strongpoints, really. Maybe more people should rethink their glasscannons as well and actually wear WvW armour.
Not that I would mind seeing lowered damage/range or at the very least double the cost to build them, still, it hasnt destroyed the game and WvW seem as popular as ever on my server (2h+ queue into EB tonight, yay!).
Just make a mean looking huge Charr male Mesmer.
Then dress him in pink.
There you go.
I have to give my salute to the BB guild (VF I believe it was) on Piken border this evening, for mustering the courage to break the stalemate at bridge of south hills (Piken controlled) by attacking from the rear. I was there for maybe 30 minutes as the fight dragged on and on. Even though Piken pushed all the way to the keep a couple of times, we didnt have nearly enough manpower or focus (no commander, no guild presence) to maintain it. Every time we where beaten back, we held at the bridge. It was fun being a tanky Mesmer with reflective focus there, heh. Plowed straight into BB lines a couple of times, lol.
Longbow to the groin? Yeah, that’ll work.
Is it because we are:
1. Easy to play?
2. Lots of damage?
3. Plenty of Survivability?
4. Just easy to confuse others?
All of the above?
The Mesmer is a strong PvP class. In tPvP it lack the ability to hold a point though (ie facetank like a guardian, a Mesmer has to jump around) whereas in sPvP you meet a ton of berserker geared annoyances. The Mesmer is my “main”, but personally I prefer to bring my Engineer to tPvP. Just as strong (if not stronger) and some variation from every day PvP/WvW with the Mesmer.
For PvE, you want to throw in some crit in there – try using chest/legs as knights, as well as the amulet and perhaps a ring or two. The rest can be soldiers.
You could of course also go full knights with berserker jewels if you dont need the HP.
But personally, I have ~23K HP and I cant even count the times it has saved me.
Problem is of course other players, such as the stupid berserker Mesmer that stands next to you and never ever take aggro due to zero toughness, so you have to tank every kitten mob in the dungeon. Its usually the same person that go “ZOMG why did you die, I’m glass cannon and I didnt even take damage!!!” :p
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
Hmmmhmmm; looks nice and interesting.
What I wonder is… does it also work outside of zergs? Like, in smaller groups or even solo? Or is it zerg-only?
Sure it does. With my similar build I solo camps easy enough. Main threat comes from very tanky condition specs. Otherwise, most balanced builds and glass cannons will have a hard time with you, as will tanky warriors and guardians because you can usually outlast them.
Also, you can just swap some skills around. If you face one person (that isnt a silly ranger), pick something like blink instead of feedback.
New? Been running something similar for months lol. Yes its very good against zergs and got the survivability to run with the commander, or be a commander for that matter. I have outlived even guardians in my guild. Though I dont understand why you got the scepter rather than the sword.
I only use gs for specific fights like jormag. Otherwise, staff all the way. The only thing I dislike is the slow attacks, where the gs is more direct. But it works well enough for a tanky build that doesnt rely on burst to survive.
I dont really get why people complain about the stealth in the video. Just look at the damage!
Its WAY too low for a thief, he has clearly sacrificed everything to get that kind of stealth. He’s not insta-killing the enemy players, he’s not AoEing everything on the screen. Something is very, very wrong with his build. How could the commander even survive the initial hit without cheating, did he have like 5000 toughness??!!?
Thief need a buff and the video shows it very well.
What changes have been made that make it worth it to return?
Have you joined a guild since then?
If not then no changes have been made and its never going to be worth it.
If that is an entire zerg, then it must be tier 20.
SEAFARER’S REST JUST CLEARED [Big Bomb’s Go][BOOM] is currently thinking about making it a weekly event aswell. Enjoy
Its contested again
Any more EU server with it uncontested?
Just restart the game and it’ll fix itself.
Even if Anet technical support is apparently unaware of it, this is a well known bug that happens frequently. You cannot click on anything in the world (but you can click on the UI just fine), so you have to tab to target mobs, for example. Happens several times a week for me. Not so bad when you can just restart, a little worse if you dont notice it until you’re inside WvW on primetime :/
Dressed in a pieces of bear, wolf, or possibly warthog skin/fur?
Pff…
I want a full Charr one-piece for my Norn. Complete with horns. The only thing that would show is the face.
Haha I met the risen wraith yesterday. Impossible. Even in full toughness I can handle the damage (does ~700), but he is impossible to beat because even if the group gets him down considerably during his “downtime”, he just pops life steal and is back to 100% HP. There is literally no way any group can outdps him.
Pointless even once he spawns, better run somewhere else.
For Grenth, the glitch in the system is obvious: Of course Jones should scale just like Grenth! But AFAIK he doesnt. So he melts.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
Doesnt the distorsion shatter still use the run-to-enemy-and-kill-yourself style? I honestly havent used it that much. If so then of course there is a unpredictable delay.
But the OP stated he threw down multiple siege in Garrison, not the spawn? Or is Garrison considered a starting area now? I doubt he as commander threw down siege, started building it and then jumped to base, only to jump back, throw down another siege and repeat the process 3 times.
Unless of course it wasnt garrison, but the citadel.
On the other hand, I think guild should be allowed to control the number of items each player can get each day.
There are 2 separate guild banks with separate access if I recall correctly. Allow everyone access to the “public” guild stash and only trusted members to the main guild bank. When people need things, they ask a trusted member to put it in the public stash. When people find things that can be used (such as low level yellows) they just put them in the public area and notify a trusted member to move it to the stash.
Of course there will still be jerks. But there’s little you can do except kick them out of the guild.
Corrupted files leading to consistent crashes
in Account & Technical Support

something has been causing corrupt files and crashing. I get it all the time now. My ArenaNet.log is attached, the last 5 crashes or so is the same exact error! Corrupt filestream thingie.
I hope Anet can figure out the reason for this because its bloody annoying.

Yes, fight clubs should definetly go to JP instead of hogging space in WvW when the change rolls in. Better for WvWers (less queues for those that actually want to play raids) and better for fight clubs (less people interfering with them).
Report them as bots (there’s no option to report a hacker or cheater last time I checked). Just mark them and right click on the character image up top.
Why would they have an evade delay? I have no doubt that Anet has all the races evade when you press the button, period. Now, the animation speed/design may vary. But that is irrelevant to game mechanics.
Oh the horror, Mesmer has vigor on crit?!?! NEEEEEEEEEEEERF!!!
Wait, Engineer has it too? NEEEEEEEEEEEEEERF!!!
The Warrior has two times the duration AoE vigor and AoE weakness at the same time with a couple of seconds downtime??!!! BUUUUUUUUFFFFFFF!!!
That’s also what was the impetus for removing the crafting stations. The more time people spend in the maps not playing WvW, the longer the queues are.
I must say, not once since the game has released have I seen anyone stand by the crafting stations in your own borderlands O.o
That said, of course they where pointless. I’d rather see any more guards that pointless NPCs like that. It would be great if even the ambient wildlife was toned down. Like the worms area, so utterly pointless. Replace it with a small cappable military camp or something, make the area part of WvW instead of having worms. There are plenty of areas that could be “militarized” rather than having boring wildlife.
As much as I’d like a speed boost, I take the opinion that if every class had some form of speed buff, none of us would actually be getting buffed as we would all be equal. They would have to be class specific, so in our case maybe have a speed boost equivalent to our shatter recharge rate or so on etc.
So what you are saying is that if the only class that doesnt have an easy way to achieve perma-swiftness would get it, they would suddenly become “equal”? Does not compute. Mesmer is the ONLY light armour class that lack passive speed boost and the ONLY class requiring boon gear, specific weapon or runes to achieve perma-swiftness. The other classes already are equal in this field, except the Mesmer.
Its community pages, yes there should have been a similar function ingame and no Anet doesnt have anything to do with it. Where developers fail, gamers become creative.
Look we are all guilty of blobbing. Yesterday morning me and 5 grouped peeps took Speldan. I tried to tell their raid not to follow me as I was more than capable of handling it alone. But no, stupid Dredge dont listen.
Low level eh? My advice is to avoid groups. When you are 60+ you can start working on groups.
Last few months so many mesmer’s running around it bugged me.
True dat.
This morning I was scurrying about Eternal Battlegrounds lazily, killing some guards, looking up my own skirt, doing important things like that. I decided to cap the Dredge and they positivly loved me for it. So, I follow them towards enemy held Speldan, lo and behold there is activity there! A big Charr Warrior looks menacingly at me and my fellow Dredge. The Dredge ignore my plea to not engage and rush in like a tiny little brainless zerg – not really much different from regular zergs when I think about it. I have to help the poor things. I engage everything with Feedback, iWarden and Chaos Storm.
In a match of titans (ie a max size Norn and Charr) we battle each other while the Dredge and guards fight randomly. Some of the guards attack me, but luckily the Dredge veteran is holding aggro on the Supervisor. The Warrior quickly change tactics when his 100b fail him repeatedly (wutz dodge?!?!) and equip his rifle. I swap from my staff to my trusty flaming blade/ale mug and go up close, all the while I’m popping clones, illusions, everything I have all over the place. The guards still have to be kept occupied so I can focus on the Warrior.
Eventually, after several minutes of intense fighting, I bring the beast down in a flurry of clones. The supervisor and leftover guards are easily killed, even the Dredge veteran survived with 10% HP, the lucky kitten!
Anyway, long story short, I realized two things after the battle:
- All that fighting and not a single drop spillt from Ambrosia.
- HOLY kitten MESMERS ARE kittenING kitten ANNOYING TO FIGHT!!!
Read up on combo fielding and the weapons to use. For example, stand on a temporal curtain, pop illusionary leap through it and you got retaliation.
But you should really aim for 80 first. A knights/soldier geared Mesmer probably has more damage than your Berserker geared one (and of course an 80 berserker is far above it).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sampling_%28statistics%29
This may be a good thing for you to read.
Only if I wanted to know how wrong it is to refer to sampling statistics on a forum thread.
Which I dont, so meh.
I can’t really learn to love the staff, its projectiles feel so slow
Hence why you want the enemies in your face. The greatsword is better at max range, the staff is best at melee range even if its got a ranged auto-attack. Not to mention you need to be in your own etheral fields to make chaos armour and those fields are most effective on top of the enemies.
Hey, I was still very annoyed by some people saying that people opposing the patch were a vocal minority and that it was mainly VoTF.
Since when is 200 out of the thousands upon thousands of people playing GW2 not a vocal minority? Everyone do not make threads that say “All is well”. All of us combined is a vocal minority to begin with!
Either way, your breakdown shows that yes, the [vocal minority] community is indeed split on the matter. I am quite confident that Anet are capable of satisfying significant portions of both camps by tuning the damage and range of the arrowcarts. Everybody still wont be happy.
What’s the point in having more than one race if some are more powerful than others?
True, but some already are. Norns for example get leopard that can outsprint anything. Asura had pain inverter as regular skill, which then again is crippled now. The example with charrzooka is that its not even usable, since you loose all your weapon skills.
Maybe WvW should evolve into a higher order of level.
Everyone eat Quaggan tonic and run around yelling “Foo!”?
But… Warriors and Guardians hammer things, not conditions???
I do not think any legendary whatsoever will be automaticly updated. It will more than likely be a mystic forge recipe involving the legendary of any stat set and 3 things that determine the new stats (or 1 of them and 2 fillers, doesnt really matter), creating a new ascended legendary with those stats.
At least that’s how I hope Anet does it as its the only thing that would be fair to players and make sense.
The answer is… no. Not really.
I’d rather have more elites to choose from, or better the existing elites (charrzooka for example is just plain stupid, the mortar for the Engineer, etc).
You mean that the downed state of a Mesmer does more damage than 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2?!?!?!?!
I have to ask my character to get on her back more often.
I’m experimenting with a chaos 20, inspiration 20, illusions 30 frontline shatter build with power/vit/tough gear, melandru runes, berserker weapons (gs, s/f) and jewels and (drum roll) mantra of concentration(!!), mirror images and feedback.
It doesn’t really work, at least not in unorganized ZvZ. Of course I kill people, but I can’t run trough a zerg like a warrior or guardian
You cant? I can with a 0/20/20/25/5 build and 2 piece knight armour/soldier armour and trinkets/berserker jewels. Your problem however is probably the greatsword – try the staff. If a zerg is attacking you, pop sheild just in case, swap for blurred frenzy, distortion shatter and then do a 360 and staff #2 if the zerg hasnt rolled over you yet. Probably want blink in there too instead of mirror images. If you get killed, then any class would have gotten killed that didnt pop invounerability or blew all cooldowns on healing (which is of course the slight Guardian/Warrior advantage). What the Mesmer does in the same situations is simply evade with your skills. If you are attacking a zerg, plow through it with etheral fields and chaos armour combos until it has scattered enough to focus down people (unless of course they necro bomb, then you dont want to be anywhere near it to begin with). Staff helps immensly when manouvering near zergs.
