Simply put, its impossible to get the ball rolling. Not enough people coming there. The events are also pretty kitten hard and scale through the roof – even when there was 30 people at the central town they could wipe. The design does not favor small groups with berserker gear, lizard do confusion, karka and riders range you to death. Which basicly mean everyone stay well away.
Anets position is usually that events scale from 1 to 10+… Karka island scale from 10 to 50 or something.
Oh no, pikes prove they are pikes again… zerg the kitten out of the borderlands, then come to the forums and cry as loud as possible about the terrible, terrible blobbing of others.
Sorry to break it to you, piken square is just another zerg server. The special flavour piken had is long gone. The only thing left is a few diehard deniers who live in their own dreamworld and try as hard as possible to compensate with forum wars.
It`s been a long time since I`ve met a server with such low individual player quality as seen tonight. But I have to say, you guys are pretty good at running. The only exception tonight was GH, but thats not roaming, that`s monotag zergs crushing pugs. Well done.
On the contrary, Augury roamers seemed to have something called fighting spirit and actually tried to engage even against the odds.
Come on, Dawdler, keep on bragging…
Yes, well sometimes you just have to zerg. There’s no way around it.
Here, have a video of a Piken zerg a couple of hours ago:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p84GLEsanL4&feature=youtu.be
Just too bad the zerg lost half its people in the initial assault
I guess replying to this thread brought me luck, dropped a Dusk from a Gandary enemy (loot bag, not rank chest).
:D
That’s just because you where lucky enough to pick it up. Precursors actually drop all the time in WvW, its just that they are in the bags you miss. I must have gotten at least 50 or 60 Dusks by now, but I forgot to loot them.
Thieves are not useless in WvW. Shortbow is amazing.
Amazing compared to what? Immobilizing a zerg? Removing all their buffs? Applying quickness to everyone? Chain stuning groups?
You can pretend you matter all you want, you’re still not going to be needed nor wanted in larger guild groups. Roaming and scouting, forever alone.
The first things I see when joining WvW late this evening:
- Kodash building arrowcarts by the north camp gate to camp Piken.
- Augery Rock assaulting a keep with a 50+ zerg against 10ish scattered defenders and dont go inside when the door breaks. After 10 minutes of fiddling about outside, the door being repaired and broken again, they finally, slowly, surely, enter the keep, only having lost half their zerg. If they had just rushed in as soon as the gate broke the first time we would have been roflstomped.
Germans prove they are Germans and French prove they are French. Congratulations, lol :p
lulwat?!?!
Its just a variant of the Risen. Yes, they also have “classes”, such as the peasant that stun/daze, the brute that knockdown, the anchor throwing annoyance that immobilize, a channeling mofo that shoot pink balls up your kitten for heavy damage, the teleporting/crippling noble, etc.
Nothing exciting or new about them. We fight them in the new short story and I would say that yes, they are exactly like your average mob, perhaps just a notch harder hitting.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
No they all play signet warriors.
But I dont see how buffs can make the thief any less useless in WvW. Or PvE for that matter.
Lol 10 rares in 3 hours? You get 10 rares in 30-60 minutes of PvE if you do events. Now granted its only once per day, but still. I’ve been up to 20 rares in an hours worth of eventing on good days.
And yes, that is completely kittened up compared to WvW. You should get a guaranteed yellow from the rank chest. The fact that people can get precursors from them boggles my mind, in 60+ ranks I havent even gotten a rare, let alone an exotic. Getting an exotic from opening 100 event chests is about as likely.
I read the notes on the Mesmer and cant see much broken about it. Quite the contrary, there are some huge buffs in there for various builds.
Theoretically a music macro that push keys in a certain combination and speed is not ok per the rules, but seriously, its about a music macro for a specific instrument. It wont give you an edge in the game by any stretch of the imagination. Yeah, sure you can commit bloody murder with it if you play wrong, but I dont think ANET will ban anyone for that.
Craft a rare unidentified dye today!*
*Opening may not give a rare dye. Do not ingest. Keep away from children.
My advice – farm mithril/wood to make the base material. You might not cover it all, but it can cut a huge chunk of your budget in exchange for time. There are alot of tree and mithril nodes in Orr. While doing this, Events are good to get some cash – sell yellows above ~22s, salvage the crap yellows. Dont for get to grab oricalchum and sapplings along the way of course (these nodes should be a guide to how you run for the other nodes) – craft stuff to get cash and buy even more mithril/wood. T5 mats in large quantities you need to buy no matter the case – there’s simply no way you can farm it unless you are a bot. If you want to spice things up for additional cash, run dungeons, buy out some crap yellows and salvage for ectos which you then sell.
Or of course you can run CoF1 24/7 and buy the rares for the cash/tokens.

Easy peasy on my Mesmer. I’ve even soloed a fully upgraded camp also defended by half a dozen mean Quaggans, lol. The supervisor is the easiest enemy, while the scouts are by far the most annoying ones (and the only ones that can really make you loose).
I just use the sword and flail it around like a madman on my anti-zerg build. Blurred frenzy/frantic waving on the melee frontline, reflection tag the backline. Staff is used for chaos storm/protection in the initial encounter, then swapped on storm cooldown or when defensive play is needed.
I have found that the best way to tag on the Mesmer is to simply split your attention. Combining melee, ranged and reflections does this nicely.
Southsun require 50+ people to keep going… IE its pretty much impossible. I dont even see that amount for world events like Maw on my server. Every time I have visited SS since the event ended its been a ghost town with 0/4 towns held. Funny how Anet by reviving it, also killed it completely.
Depends on the zerg. If its a guild zerg where the blitz is all that matter, compote is great. It basicly make the zerg immortal, the enemy cant recover from having their people downed while you are healed.
Random zergs, doesnt really matter. I have all of them in my backback anyway :p
A mesmer can create phantasms and clones with his mind, an elementalist can “ride the lightning” into a group of foes and send them flying, a guardian can create magical walls of energy… yet people are worrying about the real life physics of arrows?
Actually, yes.
Magic is magic – we expect it to behave like magic.
An arrow on the other hand is not magic – its a physical object that should be subject to actual physics. And the arrowcart is just a plain wooden arrowcart firing plain wooden/possibly mithril arrows (presumable, orichalcum is too expensive to shoot)
Games dont have to be realistic, they have to be believable.
Now, if you where to tell me thakittens a magic arrowcart firing illusionary arrows, then it’d be a whole different matter. Actually it would even make sense, since all illusion based physics in this game are so bugged an arrow flying through a wall is no different from an illusionary leap being stopped by a 2cm height difference.
Sidenote: “its” is censored by the forum? I need to read up on my curses, kitten it!
Sidenote#2: Oh now I get it haha… Very funny. Score one to the forum.

Dungeons that take 2 hours because they are hard and you are well rewarded afterwards is fun.
Dungeons that take 2 hours because they are filled with padding that is “hard” (ie its hard to search Youtube and look for “how to skip”) and you are rewarded the eqvivalent of a slap in the face for completing it, is not that fun.
Arah is the prime example of this. Its not hard, its just kittened. Some elements are good (Lupi is just fine), some elements are so bad its embarassing (bosses that cant even damage you for the lulz) but most of it is pure time consuming crap designed just to annoy players.
So yes, I would welcome a well designed, hard dungeon.
You know why Arenanet are developers and you’re not? They wouldnt have forgotten the shoulder piece.
If you shoot an arrow hard enough…
… you only add extra weight to the ram.
Personally I think there is one very, very simple way to solve the ACs once and for all – make them keep/camp defenses just like oil/cannons/mortars.
No more balance issues, no more field deployments by the dozen. If you want field deployments, how about buffing the Engineer to actually be usefull in WvW, deploying 30s weaker variants of the arrowcarts via the elite?
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
Rams would work as rams if they couldn’t be destroyed by physics defying arrow carts that shoot arrows that travel through solid walls from the safety of the tower/keep.
The only thing arrow carts need for now is to respect the laws of physics.
I find it kind of funny that you mention respecting physics in terms of the arch, but not in terms of an arrow actually “hurting” a wood/steel ram.
Its not like shooting an arrow into a tree make the tree explode.
I tried playing the market for a while and take control of items, then I realized that those 1-4g daily profits is about 30m-1h of lazily doing world events while browsing at the same time, so I gave it up. It was too complicated
I run with max settings and I have actually seen this since the patch… Only once though. I thought it was wierd that the phantasm I just summed looked exactly like a clone (it was most defiently an iMage). Also in WvW. Havent played WvW that much since the patch and havent seen it PvE at all. I dont think it matter what texture setting you have – it just raise the limit when/where it can happen (not to mention it can be sporadic, sometimes the LoD load times is horrible when there’s half a dozen people around you, sometime you dont notice it when you’re inside a zerg)
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
Hey you’re not useless against Piken. Come on! Shiverpeaks just took SM! That’s a great acheivement!!!
Haha, jk, we gave it to you. GLHF :p
I guess its still a little early to tell if the matchup is going to be fun. It was decent earlier this evening, though a little weak presence from FS at least on Drakkar border (noticed outmanned buff a couple of times).
The only thing I can hope for is that Drakkar are a little less… German… than other German servers. Building arrowcarts in an offensive situation when outnumbering the enemy only make that enemy loose respect for you. Especially if you loose the fight. That make us laugh as well. No offense. German and French servers has damaged us all.
Yeah you have to mindful of the initial attack of some of the mobs. I’ve easily lost 50% HP before they even looked like they attacked at the end of the 3s spawn.
Just give us an option to “reset” the commander book for a minor fee . You go to the WvW NPC, you say “Oh but this character is already a commander! Here is 5g, give me the book”. Commander book is back in your inventory, free to put in the bank and open on another character. You are no longer a commander.
Problem solved. I am a genius. Please give me 50g in compensation Anet.
If the droprate isnt reduced, then its subject to heavy RNG.
Going through 4 nodes in a row and get exactly 4 candies from each… Great fun! I dont care what the droprate percentages for the chests are, I want to know what the chance for THAT is? Because if the drop rate of chests is high from holos, then my RNG is the best ever. It should be impossible to go through multiple nodes without getting a single chest or loot, just 1 candy per mob. But against the odds I can do it.
Sidenote: I forgot to mention that this was also with 160% MF gear.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
Well, at least when someone open 1000 chests and dont get a ticket compared to someone that open 250 chests and get 3 tickets, we know that the RNG is working properly.
Its something.
Collectors edition got other stuff… also its completely worthless minis. They could have given us a single crystaline dust and I’d have been more happy – at least that I could have sold.
yeah I noticed this as well rather quickly. Really dissapointing compared to the portals/tanks and flame legion/dredge, that system worked great and was more fair to people coming to help.
Definetly justified in WvW, since its basicly an elite skill in disguise.
If it caused a reveal debuff instead of being chainable, maybe 60s would be good.
Note that this is not an OMGMESMEROP thing, I think all chain stealth is very powerfull no matter the type of skill – and veil in particular can win a battle.
80% of the maps in this game are a ghost town. Sad really.
No.
If 80% of the maps where ghost towns, dust wouldnt be so rare.
Well nobody will get through the Black Citadels defenses. See all those seemingly innocent cubs running around? Load them into cannons and watch the enemy run in fear while its raining kittens.
Slowing down groups would be simple if they just started making the commander tag actually have a function other than being a map icon.
A commander would passivly support his zerg but instead apply a speed debuff when reaching the limit. As an example, for each player in reach (just taking random stuff):
Commander + 5 – No speed reduction, gain 5000 extra HP and have 8 might stacks.
Commander + 10 – Still no speed reduction, gain 2500 extra HP and have 5 might stacks.
Commander + 20 – Swiftness capped at 28%, gain 1000 extra HP and have 3 might stacks.
Commander + 30 – Swiftness capped at 22% and have 1 might stack.
Commander + 40 or more – Swiftness capped at 15%
*note that the cap would also apply to passive skills
Just one of many ideas to change the zergballing that Anet clearly want in the game.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
I personally am of the belief that the RNG is constantly manipulated…but on what basis I have no idea. If the odds were the same for every player every time, the inconsistent results that emerge would be statistically completely impossible.
Indeed, such as people claiming they got multiple exotics in less than an hour. Not saying its impossible… But that’s impossible. Seriously, normal mortals are lucky if they see one random exotic drop in a week even when farming. Yet here they apparently drop like candy… for some people.
GW2 is the most random I know of. Nothing make sense when it comes to loot.
Race change should have been inluded in the makeover kit from the start. There is no excuse – those that dont want to do it dont have to do it. There are little technical complications if you limit it to 80 chars that have completed their personal story. If you have say t3 human armour and change to charr, well tough luck you cant equip it anymore. That is your choice to make.
Yeah go pure dps, its the only way to avoid enemy flak if you do dungeons with other dps.
Unless of course you want to laugh throughout the dungeon and watch the dpsers constantly die for no apparent reason while the same mob barely tickle you, in that case by all means go hybrid/tank.
Also, please go pure dps in WvW. Really, its awesome against our guild train, we dont drop dps like flies at all, trust me. If only more people went dps so we had more challenge, sigh… Only kittenty guilds go PvT. Honestly.
Anyway, the southsun event is going to be over in 2 days. There will be no more minis and no more 200% magic find. So even if what he’s saying is possible, it’s practically too late now.
By the way, why would you post about fantastic farming areas? All that does is get places nerfed. Putting my tin foil hat on: I’d say he wants to manipulate scale/armored scale prices (Anet nerfs the area and his scales become more valuable).
… Perhaps because its two days left?
Personally I wonder if they secretly went in and nerfed it already, or RNG really is that bad, lol. I got 2 scales in 30 minutes today. Yesterday I got almost 10 in the same time. Ah well, back to events I guess. I am really starting to despise southsun.
Submit a ticket to Anet. We cant do anything about it. They are the only ones that can if they are feeling friendly.
Is it that hard to rebind?
I use q as F1, e as heal, r/t/y as skills and g for elite. Weapon switch and dodge are on mouse thumb keys (using steelseries wow cataclysm edition mouse).
Its a good spot for scales, sure. But 100 gold a day? Unrealistic IMO unless you get perfect drops (ie minis/exotics).
Sooo… Has there been any news on the arrowcarts? Like, reducing damage, increasing cost, reducing range etc which everyone but exploiters want?
Its getting really tiresome.
Or at the very least, can someone figure out how to glitch the servers so we can get a couple of days of golem only again?
and thats when you run a power spec and laugh at people using expensive food.
Uh… you do know that lemongrass is most often used by power specs right?
Of course it is. And that’s their choice.
Lower condition duration on the enemy still mean very little to anyone not focused on condition.
You probably have to wait until next patch. Temple of Dwayna has been on the beat malchor stage for nearly 70 hours now at Piken Square and Anet are obviously incapable of detecting stalled events, despite the fact the new API make it so obvious to everyone else.
I advice power/precision/toughness gear, with some vitality sprinkled in. Aim for around 1800/1800/1800/1500 (exact numbers vary of course).
I would not recommend clone on dodge. You want all phantasms out, not replace one with a clone everytime you have to dodge. That trait is far better for shatter builds.
But if you want to be a pure solo roamer however, I would not recommend a tanky mesmer to begin with!
Solo the mesmer excel at hitting hard and fast, you need damage for that. A shatter stealth spec would IMO be better and more fun.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
and thats when you run a power spec and laugh at people using expensive food.
Yeah its totally unfair because Guardian is also the weakest class in the game!
Wait, no it isnt. Its the strongest class in the game.
How do you nerf CoE? Only allow chests to give blue items? Oh wait, they already do that :/
Also Dub, you must be confusing gold with silver.
