You can get stuck in incredibly awkward poses that mess up animation if you happen to die while frozen (such as the crystals in CoE).
A week or so ago I caused my guildmates to laugh so hard they cried
Glass cannons work great when its highly optimized guild group, otherwise no thanks.
Or when you press magical button whenever it needs to be pressed.
Aye, only problem is when it needs to be pressed 3x faster than you can press it.
I can honestly say that I have never seen a good glass cannon pug in any dungeon I have gone through, that can deal damage and survive at the same time. Its always one or the other. Do they even exist? Surely they must. Maybe its a US server thing, I dont know.
Yes I do wish to go through CoE in 15 min. Thats why I always bring my 30k HP/2100 toughness Warrior into dungeons.
So much dps lost when a glass cannon goes down while subject alpha tickles me, sigh.
Glass cannons work great when its highly optimized guild group, otherwise no thanks.
Again, I would LOVE to see a Dev justify this.
Do you even need devs to justify it?
Its obvious what’s going on. They want it to take time, they want us to grind in order to stay with their precious game.
Or wait, you think they changed AC path 2 because they wanted a harder boss? Anet laugh in our faces because not only is the boss invounerable during certain periods (meaning that a single boss battle take longer than pre-patch run throughs of the entire path) the players are also invounerable as icing on the cake! No one can hurt anyone! Oh joy!!! Might as well just having an empty room with a 20 minute timer that goes to 0, then you win the game.
Invounerable mobs need to be there for gameplay purposes, clearly.
The “300 spawn locations” Is a bit of a misnomer. While there are multiple spawn locations, they’re are quite grouped, i’ve seen at least 2 separate spawn locations that were in a stones throw of each other.
Great so you have 298 other locations that may not be like that lol. Your argument didnt help.
Fact remains, its way too diffuse to hide the kitten guy in a barrel. Even NPCs roaming an entire zone can be found by a wide net, but a hidden object very tricky to spot. If there was no timelimit fine! But there is a time limit. A very short one at that.
In the zone there is even a “suspicious keg” (event related) that some members always go “ZOMG I FOUND IT!!!” over. I bet Anet are laughing their kitten off. Its probably the same designer that did Swamp that also came up with Scallywag.
“Hey lets assume that something takes best case 10 minutes to accomplish and worst case 15 minutes. I know, the time limit will be set to 10 minutes and 5 seconds!”
I dont think that is a bug. I think the design of the attack is 3 invisble AoE attacks in a line – if your enemy is standing in only one circle, it get hit once. What happened on the return swing with 2x attacks is probably two overlapping AoE circles
A darker blue would look much better imo.
Nah it would be too dark then to fit the old Swedish regimental colors.
Unfortunetly GW2’s lighting doesnt quite reflect the “ideal” color. It shifts widely based on map. I am fairly sure that the colors in the OP looked better when the guy created them in the character menu, that’s just not very flattering lighting

Scout them a head of time and have someone hold them in position. There’s absolutely no reason that you should fail if you plan ahead.
And if you dont have a large enough guild to scout all bounties at once or if he is killed by someone else before you get there and reset to a random position over the ENTIRE DARN MAP???
Guardian has no disengages.
A Guardian does not disengage.
Guardian.
While I still dont fully understand how to build it, my guild has some insanely strong Guardians. They are nearly unkillable and when they do die when massivly outnumbered, they’ve usually outlived everyone by minutes. We have strong Warriors as well, but no one that’s even close in WvW to the Guardian. HOWEVER I have seen many go glass cannon Guardian for the deeps. They melt in seconds. Seriously, they’re just bad.
That said, both are good frontliners. Hammer Warrior together with a supportive Guardian is a tough combo. The Guardian will be more active in group buffing and defense (wall of reflection ftw!) while the Warrior is critical for interrupts and blowing his horn. Not the Guardians horn I mean, his own.
Yep, Scallywag is broken or something.
My guild hat the unfortunate luck to get him on the bounty today. We’re not that many, 10 people at that time doing it to catch some guys that missed the last time. We searched and searched and searched… Nothing. Lost the bounty of course. Asked on the map chat. People had searched for HOURS trying to find him.
Checked the forums – there is a developer post stating that he can spawn in 300 different locations and that other bounties are too easy, they want more like Scallywag.
What. The. Kitten.
There’s not even any point in TRYING to go tier 3. Get Scallywag, might as well forget about it. Better to run tier 1 and hope not to get him.
That’s not really zergs. Not even close to SFR zergs anyway, lol.
Also… We got some good Mesmers on Piken but we’re not THAT good so we can cloak ourselves into Kodash.
The lag inside the stonemist lord room was horrible last night, but presumably it was laggy for the opposition as well. What was it, an hour battle where 50 min was spent trying to pop skills, lol?
Great fun either way. The static battles we have in this tier are amazing. Later there was a massive fight on the west plains of the augery rock garrison I believe (held by piken). It was like two armies colliding, probably the widest engagement I have seen in the game. Piken was eventually driven back
Hurray~
I am SO happy that we’re back to fighting AR and Gandara!
Indeed. So much more fun than the massive AoE zergs in t2.
Had some epic battles tonight while defending Anza. I cant remember if it was against AR or Gandara, whoever holds the northern keep, heh. Anza was literally shot to pieces (two walls and the gate down) and there must have been 25+ attackers while Piken had a small amount of defenders (commanding the fight was SU with a whooping 4 people, together with a couple of randoms). Piken held it in the lord room not once but twice, after reinforcements from VII.
For anyone that was there on the attacking side – thank you for the glorious battle, lol. I was the big cat in heavy metal wielding a hammer :p
5 thieves. Same race, same size, same armour with backstab stealth builds.
You’ll annoy the hell out of everyone you meet.
Piken can keep up with T2 easily, thats different.
If holding 20-30 points and the leading server having like 5000% higher score is T2 material, then sure Piken can keep up.
Anyway, there really is too much drama. We will keep fighting regardless. Piken is our home even if its T8. I understand why RG/Sin/Tup move but I also fail to see the point.
But hey at least we very good queue times now.

People confuse you for a bot? Sure they arent bots that send automatic whispers?
Last time I checked it was incredibly easy to spot a bot. It move on rails (with any number of characters following on the same exact path) or teleport instantly to the node, farm and is gone. Its impossible to mistake a single character farming normally for this.
I cannot comment on the performance of the AMD CPUs in this game as I just got my FX-8350 and haven’t been able to test it in GW2 due to the login error we are fed with right now. What I have noticed was horrible performance to begin with comparing with my old i7 920.
You “upgraded” from an i7 920 to a FX-8350?! O.o
Sorry but that was a seriously poor choice. At best, equal performance. At worst… Well you seem to know about that.
Pretty much everyone knows that Intel is king at the moment. AMD hasnt been able to compete for performance in a year or two. Cost yes, but not performance.
I could finally login. Sure enough, the email shows instead of login name. Seems to be visible only for me though, cant see the others mails and they cant seem to see mine.
Cant login either. Others in the guild are already ingame and playing. kitten?
Lulwat? You get an extra skillpoint for every level above 80 on all your characters. I got one with 350+ unused skillpoints , another with maybe 150, a guardian that I got up to 80 a couple of weeks ago and he has 80ish SP.
Skillpoints are stupid easy to get – you just play the game.
I dislike complicated solutions. How about a simpler one:
Show us the zergs, Anet!
That’s right. Whenever there is a large amount of players in an area, announce it to ALL THREE servers on the minimap. Keep it constantly updated. Oh is there a zerg coming stealthed towards you with a million stealth combos to abuse culling? No. You see it appreach on the minimap, clear as day. They can stealth but they cannot hide.
This would force large guilds to rethink their zergballing if they want to stay hidden on the map (like it is now). Move divided, fight as a group. Yet it wouldnt actually stop it per say with artificial debuffs/buffs. You could still do a massive zergball that is the constant target of 2 hostile servers.
This would expand on the combat warning that already exist if larger groups engage.

The whole WvWvW “guild hall/tower/keep” thing is a joke. You might spend all day capturing it, getting it set up, upgraded, and just as your guild settles in to appreciate it, here comes Jonny Zergmaster Commander with his 200 minions tagging along and you lose it in 5 minutes. So that whole concept is laughable.
Anet cant control our gameplay.
Ideally, a guild group of say 15 people could stay in a tower indefinetly, fully upgraded and well defended by dozens of siege equipments. It would take an very good assault force to breach that.
But of course, it would also be insanely boring. It rarely happens in game, since everyone is focused on offense and zerging around.
Anyway, its a completely different thing compared to guild halls. Yes I would like a guild hall. Sure you can do some weird roleplay that you’re in a guild hall, but its not the same as actually controlling its content and appearance. How they would accomplish such a feature however is beyond me (other than instances of course, but you want the guildhalls to be there for everyone to see…)
Some people found Orr hard and annoying.
The others play Guardian and Warrior.
The cooldowns are not short enough to be chained and prevent you from stomping.
Are you playing the same GW2 as the rest of us? O.o
The thief teleport has always been one of the main complaints on the thief mechanics, due to its cooldown. Yes you can stomp a teleporting theif, but the window is extremely small – to the point of being more effective to simply unload your damage skills instead. Given the extremely long stomp animation, you have about a 1-2 second window between teleports. If you arent pretty much on top of the thief when he pop up, he’s gonna vanish again.
So for the OP: The answer to the question is “you dont”. Just kill him instead. If you are fighting someone else, use AoE over the downed thief or make sure he is inside melee range. In groups this isnt a problem, solo its a little worse. But then again I’d be more surprised over the fact you could even catch a thief and kill him, rather than having too low dps to kill him when downed.
I find it hilarious that GW2 AoE encourages people to stack on top of each other. It is meant to force people to spread out but does exactly the opposite. (It’s almost comical)
How much more hilarious is it over the fact that GW2 AoE encourage people to AoE zerg on one spot?
Not that much really.
To fix the whole personal story dilemma, all they’d have to do is look at what story quests you have done, plus whichever quest you’re up to, and change them to the corresponding ones of race you chose to become.
Err… Why overthink it?
Only allow race change if the following conditions are met:
- You’ve completed the main story
Simple as that.
To answer the question, I’m not sure I would pay for it… But I KNOW others would. The option should be there. Its better for us, its better for Anet. There is NOTHING they can loose on it. Just make a “premium” makeover kit that allow you to change your race in addition to everything in the cheaper kit. The post above that states choices are “meaningless” if they can be changed on a whim… It really doesnt matter. How many non-80 that hasnt completed the main story would this change possibility target? No one. Absolutely no one. Its the veterans that are WAY WAY past choices that would want it… The actual roleplayers dont want it anyway
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
People like you are probably the reason the AoE cap is there in the first place. They want to make it too easy for the people who can’t give a kitten to dodge stuff. A zerg foolish enough to stand in the middle of AoE being cast by 5 people should deserve to die. But instead you guys want to promote this mindless zergball mentality, and I can’t even begin to understand why.
AoE isnt cast by 5 people – its cast by 50 people. Each individual in an AoE zerg may not be able to hit more than a certain amount of targets, but the targets can be hit by infinite AoE.
Have you ever tried dodging 100 Necro wells hitting you at once as your framerate goes from 60 to 2? Its not that easy
Anyone with half a brain can see the AoE zergs in WvW. Its a boring and dull mechanic. Especially for the opposition, since its mostly just creating a pretty lightshow.
But I have to say, seeing AoE zergs consisting of mostly rangers, elementalists and mesmers get absolutely “zergballed” by organized guild groups half or a third their size can be fun. They always scatter like scared little rats at the thought of physical confrontation.
Howcome?! Where is this lack of obedience coming from?!
It comes from you not being in a guild?
Nobody in the game has an obligation to be commanded by anyone. Trust in a commander is earned, not taken. Known and good commanders will be obeyed.
Not sure why this would come as a surprise.
But Anet cant do that! It would expose the bugs…
Yet another guild member stood in queue for 30+mins today. Adviced him to requeue. Popped after a couple of mins.
My theory is that is that Anet uses the FIRO queue system instead of FIFO. That’s First In Random Out.
So if you where to expose the queue line to users, it would probably say something like… “Snarflick/72” or “¹û19?:Ž/58”.
People complain because they still like the game.
Look at the bright side – no matter how bad the new culling is, at least we dont have to see it.
How are they not working correctly?
… Its completely random? You dont have to look far to see people reporting just that on the forums. Queue 15m, relog, insta-join. Queue 1h nothing happens. Both peeps start queueing at the same time. Queue for 2h nothing happens. 1h in another guildie had to wait 10m for the queue to pop. Etc and so on.
If we could actually see the queue stats (ie “you are 104/250”) and its frequently updated, we could at least have some sort of feeling for the amount of time we have to wait.
Now, its just… Completely random.
You did it to yourselves. Maybe you should have stayed on your original servers instead of forming super servers. Just a thought.
Yes because that is surely the case for all players on all servers.
Wait, no its not. Its far worse for the ones that stayed with their original server only to see its WvW community be torn apart by queues, such as Piken Square.
While somewhat understandable, remember that WvW is not the only part of the game, nor its focal point in the grand scheme. Having medium pop with a big fraction of the population active in W3, aka creating a ‘WvW server’, is a bad idea in the first place, and now finally you see why – yet finally it can balance itself out.
You’re right, except the point was that the server transfer fees is the only thing affecting WvW by a huge amount. For PvE, who cares if we are in LA overflow or LA proper? Nobody. Quite the contrary, sometimes you WANT to be in LA overflow for a greater chance to find PvE groups.
Anyway… Perhaps we shouldnt call it a “fail”. We should call out Anet to answer some questions instead:
What do they consider is a viable queue length for WvW. What is the intent? What did you design the game for? 5 minutes? 10 minutes? 30 minutes? 1 hour? Or does Anet consider a 2 hour queue to be good and perfectly acceptable for enjoying Guild Wars 2?
Post queue statistics for all servers. Allow us to see how it is – if nothing else to decide what server to migrate to if Piken Square isnt viable anymore. We know Anet have this data – they have posted average queues in pretty graphs before.
Unfortunetly I dont think Anet care or listen to this.
For it to be fair, guilds should be able to “guest” (play mercenaries) on other servers WvW zones that have low WvW queue times and populations. Sort of like overflows, bumping you to other realms WvW zones if yours is full, one that the guild itself has specified. Like if you are on Piken Square and your “mercenary server” is Blacktide.
If you get a response consider yourself lucky, since they dont seem to care about the almost 1K posts and 40K views thread in the bug forum.
I’m not even certain they have acknowledged the issue exists, despite the community hunting down info that its probably a memory issue and the sound “bug” itself is a warning from the audio system (ie its actually working as intended).
But then again I havent kept myself up to date on it.
Actually thinking about it now Overflow might not be needed anymore with guesting coming around.
… seriously doubt it. Guesting will probably be done from the main menu before you even join with a character – not something you do “ingame” in a jiffy. So people wont do use it to replace overflows.
“Overflows” isnt going away, its a good system. The only flaw in GW2 is that its one way (ie queueing to your server), unlike other games using similar designs where you can choose what server instance to go to and even see player counts.
Vigil without a doubt. None of the others come even close. Its mean looking in a very conventional sense, rather than the silly over the top variants or those that look like flattened hats on their heads.
Sidenote to the above: AC heavy helmet is horrible. Its so ugly. It look more like a hardened leather helmet or something, not made of metal.
Think of all the families you’ve devastated. Think of all the children that you’re orphaning.
Asuran children think their parents are holding their genious back and would probably have killed them themselves at some point anyway.
Typical graphics card issue from the symptions. 82-84C isnt that bad in theory (most GPUs are rated for around a toasty 100 before automatic shutdown), but it doesnt really say anything about the actual temp. It may be stretching the cooling too far. You never mentioned the brand of your 660… I hope you got one with custom cooler (Gigabyte/Asus/etc, anything with the double fan setup is good) because most stock suck, cant cool for crap and are noisy.
But there are other things that can affect it as well, such as the PSU.
Great, it would go something like this:
EU: kitten have to go to work and/or school
NA: ZzzzzZZZzzzZZZzzzzZZZ
EU: —-- ambient windy noises —--
NA: ZOMG EU SUCK WE ARE WINNERS!!!
EU: Finally, we can play again! WTF NA has everything?! Take ALL the camps!!!
NA: —- grass calmly moving in the wind —-
EU: ZzzzZZZzzzZZZzzzzZZZZzz
NA: EU SUCK THEY HAVE NO PLAYERS HAHAHA!!!
Pure bow Warrior is… bad. Its just suboptimal. Maintained dps is WAY lower than for example axe or greatsword.
HOWEVER its a great secondary weapon. I use axe/sheild/longbow in PvE, but the longbow is a secondary for group combat – if I encounter groups, I quickly build adrenaline (due to axe traits) and then launch the nuke bubble combo – F1+3/swap/sheild 4 (or eviscerate).
Do people get annoyed because I am not in front tanking when they see my bow? Err… No, because I am still in front face-tanking anything I meet with high dps on my primary weapon.
A solution that has been brought up here has been to set the sound slider to the central position (or just plain lower than max), which seem to solve it for many people.
Others have suggested to delete the local.dat file, but guess what that also reset? The sound slider settings to the central position
So its probably the exact same fix. It still doesnt fix it for everyone.
Until we have an official word from Anet on what the problem really is (if FMOD devs says the sound is because of memory allocation and GW2 uses this sound system, that’s pretty much certain. Subsequent crashing in many cases would only be logical), what the sliders actually do and what to do to avoid the issue, we’re just fiddling about on random.

Looked up “how to fix rubberbanding” on google…
Lulwat?
The dodge issue is a BUG introduced by Anet in a GW2 patch sometime during the last month or two. It did not exist during the beta phase nor in the release AFAIK, or at least it wasnt anywhere near as common. Its not rubberbanding. If it was rubberbanding, you’d actually dodge, then go back to the original location. This BUG aborts the dodge.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
Hm, I had that experience before. Then I came up with a brilliant solution!
Log out to main menu, create new character, Warrior.
I can AFK fighting a Risen as the HP will just regen. It do become a little dull having to drag together like 5 Risen in order to have a little challenge (ie dropping below 90% HP).
Well I can confirm that the dodge clipping seem to have been introduced not long ago. Cant specify an exact moment though but I cant recall having issues with it before. Its pretty kitten annoying. You have full endurance, you dodge, but no you dont dodge, your character just fidgets about a little and then the boss hits you. It is not linked with lockdown skills either, it just happen on random.
