I honestly dont mind the… extravagant… players, its the gazillion minis that annoy me.
Uhh… you mean rifle, right? Longbow is amazing, it’s just not a pure power weapon (though it still dishes out decent damage in a power build)
Longbow is my go-to weapon on my hybrid warrior, but most of the time i’m GS // Sword/Torch.
I have a rifle, but i’ve never found a situation where it feels superior to longbow.
In WvW bow is basicly never used. Rifle happens sometimes. 95% are nike builds sword/sheild/greatsword.
- No tricks.
Poor thieves.
The stupid thing is that I have no idea whether the OP truly meant out of combat or if he really meant in combat.
You also just admitted that these mythical smc prolonged fights are lots of fun, and are why ebg gets such long queues. I’m trying to get more of that, in more places, more of the time.
Getting more of that will inevitably lead to having new maps, not features.
EB is a fantastic map that constantly pressure whatever server is holding the center. DBL tried to mimic it but got about 30% of the way, then ran off a cliff and broke its limbs. Yes, all the limbs. And its still lying there on the bottom, crying for help. ABL was never designed for it even though they also tried to revive the center, its great on its own because it focus the top and bottom half seperately.
Either way the tl;dr is that we need new 3-way maps that are shaped like EB in general. Fancy features cant replace basic gameplay.
Planty McPlantface?
Salladbeard Kalestick?
Guybush Treewood?
Leafy Fiddlesticks?
Branchman Sprigbottom?
The possibilities are endless.
There’s no trait for it already?!
No I find it hilarious because 10m ago, a thief killed me in 1 second. Yes, literally 1 second. Steal for 3K, that attack which cloaks for 7K, backstab for 14K. We where running straight toward each other and bam dead. I couldnt tell one attack apart from another, from my point of view that was a single steal teleport, it was that fast. That was with 2000 toughness.
You do realise tactivators become public once there’s no longer people from the guild on the map right? This is to prevent a guild putting all these upgrades on a keep and they become useless once there’s no-one around.
You’re saying people make up rules but I pointed out 2 parts of the code of conduct says you’re not supposed to deliberately sabotage the enemy server. This isn’t Joe Random making up rules, this is ANet rules about how you shouldn’t match manipulate and respect other people’s rights to enjoy the game. If you honestly think deliberately doing this sort of thing is not hurting other people’s enjoyment then you’re probably one of these win at any cost guys who doesn’t care how many people you end up screwing over so long as you get your kicks.
Which really is the main problem yes.
Personally, if I had anything to say on the functionality of tactivators, I would change it as follows:
- Guilds get a new function called “WvW ally guilds”.
- Tactivators default to “Guild and allies” (this never revert on auto).
- Same rules apply, only those with access to tactivators can pull them, but now its your guild members and how many other guilds you want.
- Guild log list “[guild] player name activated tactivator X at claimed objective on border”
Done deal.
An entire server can work together to give proper rights.
Can still be exploited if you really work for it but if [Qqqn] see that a member of [Skrt] pulled their tactivator at an objective… either drop that guilds access to your tactivators or tell on their guild leader he got a kittenty member.

I feel quite sane
Thats what they all say
Would have been nice if we could sell them I suppose. The only reason I didnt just throw hundreds of clovers away was that they added them to the vault.
I’ve actually been thinking about this recently! The common answer to condition damage is vitality since you’ll have more health to burn through, but that line of thought also applies for direct damage too. So, why not take it a step further?
My whole concept was that fully prioritizing vitality would give you a 30% reduction in condition duration to conditions applied to you. This means that a full set of ascended Vitality-main weapons / armor + vitality-main runes / trinkets (2557 vitality) will achieve this.
You can, however, also sacrifice some vitality and use Melandru runes to get above 30% while losing some health, but the choice is really yours.
The formula I came up with for this was
(( [Player Vitality]-1000 ) x ( 30 / (2557 – 1000)))/100But, paragraphs aside, here is a sheet with different percent calculations for different armor sets (Custom 1 is base vitality with Melandru Runes + Food, Custom 2 is max vit + Melandru Runes + Food).
Also note that Food and Runes can currently (in the game right now) give 45% condition duration reduction.
So how exactly doesnt this vastly empower bunker condi builds forcusing on only toughness, vitality and condition? Do we want condi bunkers to reign supreme, being tough against power and condi damage? Cause this is how you get condi builds. They are the only ones that can focus vitality and still pack a punch.
Australia would probably make swords where you hold the blade and arrows that shoot bows, its always so upside down.
Its called random for a reason. Thats why no sane person is even using the MF for clovers any more, you get tons from reward tracks anyway, for free.
Ever since HoT both condi and power damage has been through the roof.
Yesterday I got hit for 8K damage of gunflame, that’s on a 2000 toughness build so… He would have done maybe 10-12K damage vs someone unarmoured? Now how the heck does a skill with a base damage of 928 go to over 10K? Well I know how and there’s no science behind it, just stack all the damage. But still, we’re looking at damage modifiers of 10x+ from base after all is said and done.
I think that is an insane leap of damage and it always leaves me wondering whether Anet really intended this or not. They’re not fixing anything so obviously they dont care now, but was damage actually meant to go this high from the beginning?
Do you want Cobalt? Cause this is how you get Cobalt. And burned retinas.
Sounds more like an issue with your monitor if cobalt burns your retina.
For sure.
Elementalist, necro, engineer, mesmer, guardian, ranger and thief can go all range (not counting doubling up on the same weapon). That’s 7 out of 9 classes. Only the revenant and warrior lack a “secondary” ranged weapon. So saying there are no pure ranged is kind of… odd.
Whether you want to go full range is a whole other matter.
Warrior can use longbow and rifle
Revenant hammer attacks are ranged and they can use a shortbow
Oh right I forgot about the longbow as its never ever used lol. Rev dont have shortbow yet, I only count current options. So correction, 8 out of 9 classes, yes.
I cant remember if someone did the calculations but at already high hp the percentage buffs usually stacks better.
Weeeeell technically there is a rule specifically on this but it states its for sPvP (last point in the RoC) and as we all know, WvW is only for those really into PvE so the sPvP rules obviously cant apply to WvW.
Anet is free to correct me if I am wrong.
Do you want Cobalt? Cause this is how you get Cobalt. And burned retinas.
My Team chat works fine.
See OP? This problem doesnt exist, FogLeg confirmed.
Not sure what the difference would be between 50 in squad/20 outside and 30 in squad /40 outside.
Lol people saying Vitality is Condi damage mitigation, mitigation means reducing FYI. Shows us where vitality reduces Condi damage.
Just like toughness, it make you survive longer. Same effect. If you have 100 hp and someone do 20 dps give or take, you survive 5 seconds. If you have 140 hp, you survive 7 seconds. Not too complicated.
And then you realize that vitality has the same effect on power damage and your point of vit being great for condis becomes moot.
The only thing I realize is that make no sense. That vitality helps against power as well doesnt exclude the fact it helps against condi.
I don’t do raiding, WVW, PVP, complex metas, older content that no one is doing anymore, fractals and so forth. I’m don’t want stuff given to me, but at the same time, I don’t want to be forced to play types of content that I don’t like.
Then the question is… why do you deserve to have all the masteries?
This to me is in the same box as people complaining over and over and over again about the horrific gameplay ruining 6 hours they have to spend in WvW to get the gift of battle for a legendary.
1. Kill stuff and cap stuff.
2. Watch 5 minute timer go to 0. No pip notice above minimap? Repeat step 1.
3. You get chests containing stuff some of the ticks. Pick whatever.

Why do you even need to? You can get all masteries already fairly easy without picking the hardest achievements. Putting them in the gemstore is a terrible idea.

Well necro is soooooo last year dude, lol.
Its all condi reaper now since Anet never nerfs deathly chill.
For power backline, hammer rev is superior I think.
Lol insane queues…
FSP queues isnt even that much now. DBL had no queue this evening, at least not 17-19 when I was in. The queues on the other borders werent that big. It’s a new link, we seem to be winning this matchup easily and it will tone down within days. When I played this morning (9 to 11-ish) we where outmanned on EB.
When we once again have queues of 150+ to EB and 80+ to borders, maybe then it’s time to discuss it.
I thought well it sort of works I run apothecary p/p scrapper as well in WvW small scale and you can be decently effective even at “low” condi damage… But then I opened the link and my only thought was
Oh dear god why why why is that the healing kit whyyyyyyyyyyyyy please someone burn my eyes off now!
Hahaha…
The problem with an engineer “healer” is that only the elixir gun is actually good at it. Good fire and forget AoE with high uptime leaving you available to do some damage. Holding the medkit will cripple you. Using a sheild will cripple you. Not being a scrapper will cripple you. You’re nothing in a zerg compared to an ele healer that will heal more just by passive AoE (in a coordinated zerg the mobile water field of the healing gyro will probably be 10x as effective in a stacking heal compared to trying to fidget around with the healing kit). You’re going to be dead weight small scale and solo I cant see it defeating anything except maybe outsustaining a worse healer.
Sorry if I sound pessimistic but I just dont see this as good in any scenario.
Alpine was easy lol. We where 3 peeps our guild trying to do it and we tried 3-4 times each fanvcy sideways jumps from the very edge of the top rock and failed, before we realized that was a kittenty idea and simply jumped out from below and rotated right. All 3 of us succeded on the first attempt then.
Nothing stopping you from taking your mesmer too (we regretted one of us didnt).
You do know that this will only empower already low hp/high damage builds and make next to zero change for the rest? Ie the complete opposite of what you want. If you want to reduce damage, cap the dmg multiplier and crit rate. There is a reason why skills that do “500 damage” for some reason hit for 5000 damage.
Condition damage is a way to inflict damage, as the same level of Power.
You counter them in different ways.
At higher levels Power is much better than Condi because everyone know how to fight a condi spec and power are seriously better for Burst down people doing a Focus. Better is your rank lesser condi spec you find.
L2P
No matter how many times people say that, condi is never going to be ok for certain specs.
That’s the keywords. Can we do everything you say against condi? Sure. Burst them with power. Equip more condi cleanse. Outwit them. That works against many condi specs but not certain specs.
But condi stacking is all condi all day on certain specs. They overload your cleanses to the point it become impossible to cleanse no matter what you do and you counter-spec. You can be a class that cleanses a condi on every skill use, every dodge and have multiple 2-3 condi cleanses… you still wont keep up with the condi application of certain specs. Generally speaking this is why for example condi engie or condi guard arent considered that strong against eqvivalent power builds. They got great burst with a ton of damage yes, but in practice we’re talking 1-3 conditions that’s within cleansing capacity. Not 6+ that certain specs vomit out like there’s no tomorrow.
That’s a balance issue, not a L2P issue.
Look at the bright side – at least sPvP got kittening deathly chill nerfed, unlike WvW.
What I don’t get is what kind of ammo the warrior’s kick is supposed to use. Are they harvesting soles from their dead enemies to use as a conduit in this skill?
What do you mean? Its clearly per leg. Thats why its 3 charges.
… wait a second…
Yeah, no.
High paced 3rd person games doesnt very well work in VR and there is absolutely no way for WvW to achieve 90 fps or more at all times. Even if we assume a transition to 1st person for that VR experience, some skills would probably make you insta-vomit.
On the upside, no more thieves.
Or dodging for that matter.
Oh its very easy. Condi, condi and even more condi. Just when he thinks you are done, add some more condi on top to overcome any cleanse.
In WvW d/p thieves is literally the reason condi roaming meta exist. Like, they’re not actual cancer but they are the cells causing cancer.
Comon, tell me you have never gotten frustrated at a asura commander before
As someone playing only Asura and command from time to time, my opinion on that matter is neutral.
Dungeons? Haha a berserker geared character can solo them. So no tanks.
Raids eh I suppose some can tank but IMO even they are hybrids. Whether condi tanks are true tanks is up for debate. Thats like calling a berserker with 2000 toughness a tank – I just call it OP.
In terms of what classes does it best I dont know the raid meta. Someone else will surely write a 1000 word essay on it.
Or how about a physical leash linking your commander and you that he can pull on to get you back to the zerg when you loose focus and go after a squirrel or whatever?
I think it would be a great new commander feature. The upgraded version would have little button that reel in the leash instead of just pulling it.
Uh… you do realize it already is, right?
Dont have to be a rocket scientist to realize that when you hit one target for 2.5K autos and another target for 1.2K autos, the latter have a fair bit of toughness.
The reason some damages are insane (like going from a skill that says it hit for “800” in the tooltip to hitting for 8K) is because overwhelming power damage is just as kittening broken as overwhelming condi damage.
As I have said before I dont think the engie should have normal weapon swap but rather the ability to choose a “free kit” as weapon swap. So your weapons would for example be p/p + flamethrower and you still have heal + 3 skills + elite available to choose.
So you are saying current builds with elementalists healing for 1K+ hp (5 man AoE) every second at 1200 range just by autoattacking, let alone using the other 1200 range AoE heals… simply doesnt exist?
Also, targets affected by chill should suffer hypothermia which just make them fall over and shiver on the ground for 30 minutes unable to use any skills at all unless someone drops a blanket on them (1g to purchase deployable in WvW).
The times I have seen sword thieves in WvW in the last 6 months I can literally count on one hand and I would still have enough fingers left to hold a beer.
Except Ryzen closed that gap by a fair amount. Price wise the Ryzen’s a better deal Leo.
I know, but I haven’t seen the benchmarks on how Ryzen performs with GW2. I am only going off of my current knowledge.
And we never will because GW2 has no real benchmark and no one will bother to do it. But fact remains is that Ryzen got similar single thread IPC to Intel 6th/7th gen – the reason CPUs like 7700K wins is because they are often clocked a gigahertz higher and some games love clock speed. That makes a huge difference…. if you game at 1080p or below at least. At 1440p or 4K most CPUs flatten out and perform similar, they are limited by GPU then (unless they choke, such as AMD FX generation).
The reason you buy 8 core Ryzens today is for flexibility and future proofing, not getting every tiny little frame out of games. As has been noted by reviewers, they could go from a machine completely locked down by jobs such as video rendering for hours to a machine they could render video, record video and game smoothly at the same time.
A 6c/12t Coffee Lake would be interesting but I think it’s gonna cost a fair bit over an 1800X for less multithread performance and only marginally faster than 7700K gaming performance.
Either way it’s not cheap so probably not for OP lol.
I never understand these kinds of threads. So you don’t like mounts and will be unlikely to use them as you see no benefit to do so.
Ok.
So why is it a problem that other people do? Why do you care how other people play the game?
Oh its easy to understand.
People wanted mounts. Or rather, what they think is mounts and how they are supposed to be used.
Mounts in GW2 is glorified jump puzzle transformations, not replacements for waypoints.
I will repeat what I said. " we sometime have fight clubs in some areas of the map" they are still roamers/defenders but just taking time out from scouting or defending and have some freindly duels. People should know by now that if it’s not anywhere near an objective then it’s common courtesy to leave them at it. Or at least that’s how I see duels.
Thats how you see duels but thats not the mindset of a duelist out to duel at that time. I have seen them fight and get upset about interference literally outside a waypointed keep where the enemy player contest it while they are dueling.
I am sure some duelist will come here and say “oh but I’m an elite duelist and I dont do that”. No you probably dont. Just like not all thieves are gankers exploiting stealth and teleports but I’m still gonna put them in the same category.
Either way as I said I dont see it as a problem unless you have 50 duelists per map or something on US servers.
Before the patch, it would be possible to kite 3 guardians and beat them using terrain/smarts before they could overwhelm you. But post HoT, you’d be dead in 2 seconds. (sorry if im picking on dragon hunters, there were many other broken builds back then, its just the first one to come to mind)
So basicly, you are upset that you no longer can use your class/build to beat 3 of another build/class at the same time, now they can kill you in a 1v1 fight and thats not fair.
There’s duelers are actually roamers or defenders, engaging enemy roamers.
Thats not duelers, thats roamers and defenders.
Duelist specifically seek to fight 1v1 and fully expect everyone to respect that and that none on 3 sides interfere. Thats not WvW.
If a roamer/defender/whatever engage in a 1v1 its probably by chance and any respect from the opposing sides or friendlies would be coincidental, sometimes noot needed, sometimes desired. Its just a fight with all the dangers of WvW.
But either way dueling is not an issue. They arent that many, usually just like 3-5 peeps.
