Anet is showing some interest in making WvW a better game mode and the pips/leggy armor/backpiece and all that jazz is sure a step in the right direction as well as the separation of skills between gamemodes. (im not gonna talk about the recent balance patch)
However before you make any more changes to WvW fix the lag.
Honestly i love wvw but the lag is something that needs to get sorted especially in 3 way fights in eb. skills dont work lag is an issue. If your servers cant handle it dial the numbers back down on each borderland and give us another wvw map like ebg (5 maps in total)
The lag makes me give up on the gamemode more than anything else
There are 4 large maps. Fight somewhere besides the center of ebg maybe?
Thats barely even a sarcastic reply since zergs fighting in SM lag the entire map. When roaming solo and fighting outmanned its kind of bad to see the heal skill flash and do nothing.
Consider we have tons and tons of condi cleanses yet still cant keep up with necros, I seriously doubt that a couple of warriors will have a significant impact on the literal fountain of boons people squirt out.
I havent really understood it, but from what I gather that 100-0 in 15 min meant the drop after zero decay timer left?
Ie if you just capped a camp at 100% T6, it will first take 10m for it to start dropping, then 15m for it to drop to 0% T0 with no activity.
Not sure though.
i really don’t know much about her rl ,only reason i know her age was , i asked , are you working or in school and she told me , i don’t need to work i am only 12 , i was like o.O really , i only met her few days ago @ LA , i help her out , told her about the game , got her a set of exotic gears , runes , sigils , i show her how to link her gears , it was bad gears , we don’t know who is behind the computer , someone with depression , and being bully online , he or she felt to end it all , its NOT GOOD
Ah.
So chances are high she’s probably a 45 year old man.
Regardless, telling someone one time they arent good isnt bullying. Thats what people say all the time, pretty much every time they kill someone even if its 10v1 ganking. It take time to learn something new, both in real life and in game.

If you want to dis-incentivize zerg play, create a de-buff that slows (movement speed, not the condition) characters by a % the more other players are in the area around them.
For example only; Starting at 11 players within a 1000 radius, removing 1% movement speed for each additional player within that area, so a 40 man zerg in a 1000 radius area would have a 30% movement debuff.
There is already such a debuff in zerg v zerg. Its called 20 necros specced for chill, because deathly chill is still OP as all kitten.
Anyway, the problem with this “debuff” is that Anet would introduce a hard cap to how you are supposed to play. That bad. And even worse you cant help it. You cant control how the zerg runs regardless of being a commander or squadmember. If I roam and a zerg pass next to me, is that my fault so I deserve to be slowed down?
U r forced to play with me on the map. I am already there. I am there with u, playing alongside u already, so this argument makes no sense and is not logical.
You are not forced to play with anyone.
Some days ago I was tagged pink on DBL, lazily running around. Got like 10 people. We engaged an equal sized group inside an enemy keep, we fought a long time but we ultimately died (they kept running from spawn). Thats when someone whispers me and start telling me how to command. Push push push and regroup etc. I dont care. I didnt tag up to “command”. I tagged up because we where so few and it was good to gather some peeps. But noooo he kept ranting on and on. Ultimately he said if I tag I have to command, otherwise I shouldnt command. So instead of whispers, I simply said I am taggig off by request of that player. I was the only tag on the map at that time. Oh the rage from him, lol.
Was he bullying me?
Was I bullying him?
I dont care, I do whatever I want.
I don’t think they should allow private “invite only” squads in wvw. Granted that does penalize guilds who want to do GvG activities, but I think they should already have their own game mode at this point since its called “Guild Wars.” Either way, I don’t think wvw should allow private tags, or the ability to kick people who want to join it.
Then guilds will run without a squad, like we did before we even had squads. Your argument is pointless as you cant stop this. Anet have themselves drawn the line at hiding the tag when using the squad function, but they wont dictate how people play.
Is it paypal you are using? Try not to have paypal balance and credit card balance mixed (like, paying $10 from pp and $20 from cc to pay for $30 HoT). I had a similar payment failure issue and had to transfer money to pp first.
Glide on them, they glide on us.. glide away, and so on.
Instead of flying that just make me think of two zergs slathered in oil going at each other.
And yet what you said in the OP was “I am not disputing a cmdr’s right to exclude people”.
You seem to be disputing that. You are pretty much correct in everything but it’s not Anets job to enforce player interactions and make them behave by some higher moral standard and kindness, unless it’s against the terms of service. Kicking someone out of their squad is not. Saying nope when people want to join isnt either. It doesnt matter if its because they dont like you, your class or that you’re not TS. Unless they are abusive in chat (which you can easily report using the ingame tool), there is nothing for Anet do here. Players are people, and people are generally kitten. That’s just life.
9. TS should not be an exclusionary tool/excuse to ban people from squad for hours – especially if people can’t join TS for w/e reason (I’m deaf).
Wait is that what it all comes down to?
Just say ok in chat and join TS anyway.
It’s not like the commander will notice any difference.
No.
Because knowing Anet, Triple Ultimate Dominator will make rainbows come out of the bloody footprints. Quadruple Ultimate Dominator will make tiny dancing Quaggans riding unicorns on rainbows come out of the bloody footprints. Quintuple Ultimate Dominator will make the tiny dancing Quaggans shoot tiny kittens in pink skirts that also vomit rainbows.
Elite specs in the gemstore will clearly cross the line of what constitutes p2w in a cashshop, regardless of any gold conversion.
I play GW2 because it isnt an Asian MMO.
Please dont try to make it into one. Lets stick to expansions.
I dont even think thinner lines are needed. If it’s 80% transparency now… just set to 60% or something. Simple.
This is especially odd since it doesn’t really affect WvW, as condition duration is largely irrelevant vs. condition cleansing.
Hahaha… no, killing a brainless NPC 1 second slower, that is irrelevant. In PvP combat, minor stuff like this can have a major impact, especially with exponential growth (ie 25 condi necros in a zerg).
That said, only condi users will cry over it. And even then, condi is as strong as ever since Anet seems unable to target OP specs/skills and instead just do overall nerfs. Deathly chill is still insanely OP, poison thief is still OP, confusion/torment mesmer has been OP for 5 years, etc and so on.
No new class and lower price point for the base pack. The reason people complained on HoT was because GW2 owners (veterans) should have gotten it cheaper than others, since it included GW2 for an extra “premium” expansion price. This is pretty much what has happened for PoF. PoF+HoT (ie GW2) is €60 I think.
… did you apply the WvW ability points (bottom of list)? Also note its per character so you need to do that for all.
Reviving is pure cancer. It’s way too fast.
I lost the count how many times I down people in 2v1 and they manage to revive them while cleaving or simply do it faster than my stomp. Why not change that? Why not add debuff that makes people take +50% more damage while reviving people? But wait, we needed gliding!
Then you brought the wrong tools to go 1v2. Just damage doesnt always cut it.
Those of us that generally only reach platinum every week cry crocodile tears with you.
CC is supposed to knock them off but as was instantly noted in the gliding thread… this heavily favor certain classes using certain skills and weapons. Many CC skills are either point blank or ground, which is obviously useless.
Want to bet that the guardian elite probably been designed to work around this change, lol?
Anyway its yet another example of things that Anet goes berserk on, rather than just fine tune it. If the staff was considered OP in zergs (sort of was, sort of wasnt), then just nerf the damage and AoE heal on it by 20% or something, done deal.
I dont really see the issues with the lines themselves, but they could definetly use some toning back in transparency.
Yeah it’s pretty pointless now. The extra boon duration is ridiculous. It was a choice of power (stones) and precision (oils). Simple and effective. Who the hell will choose a couple of boon duration percent, lol… This will mean they are far more useless than before. All oils become worthless over night, mission accomplished Anet.
Well, it is useless as a weapon. The only thing I use it for is a speed boost on my key runner and as a loot stick.
Which means not that the nerf needs to be reversed but that the Guardian staff needs to be reworked.
Useless?
Only the most common weapon in the game on the most common and meta class (not even HoT, vanilla guard). You’re not even allowed to carry anything but the staff. It’s the primary weapon.
If you play WvW that is.
Since EU was down primetime yesterday we cant really tell the effect but I can tell you… tonights gonna be fun. Oh the rage. The rage of it all.
But granted, I’m guessing this change will only mean that instead of 60/40 guards/necros we will see that inverted… meaning the condi nerf did nothing. Just stack more necros.
Wait did they finally nerf deathly chill so that we can actually use something other than necros?
Logs on to check
Noooooooope.
Lawl.
The insane amount of time no-life players spend in WvW prove a cap is most definetly needed to keep them in line. We wouldnt be talking +-50% tickets here, some people would farm much, much more. Normal players cant even reach diamond in a week.
Fully killed player (not just downed), yes, yes and no, stacks are only lost when downed.
That was 4 questions, not two.
I have no problem killing squirrels outside of a zerg, it becomes a problem when they can run back and fully resurrect that dead player as if nothing happened. How can you deal with a team that outnumbers you if they are capable of undoing any damage you do to their numbers?
But thats not true at all.
You got the server points for killing and preferably stomping him, did you not?
If you dont consider that as something, what did you except to get from killing him?
Last I did the 10 amalgated recipe for my Hope… I kept doing it and earned hundreds of extra gold, lol. Just bought massive amounts of the cheapest ingredient (ie not lillies lol). The thing is, those bonus gemstones actually happened quite frequently. Worst case scenario, you went +- 0.
Prices may have changed now I suppose.
Maybe you lazy developers should have built a new engine for your 2012 game instead of recycling DX 9 Garbage?
The DX version has absolutely nothing to do with collision handling.
Actually it does, and you failed to realize my point as well. My point is that it’s lazy and cheap to use the guild wars 1 engine for a 2012 game.
DirectX still doesnt have anything to do with collision. Its just math.
if it is not a trench coat it has a butt cape
there is no cape in the game … but everything has a butt cape
butt capes are like fanny packs … but closer to a golfer who ties a sweater around there waste
Not true, triumphant intentially leaves out the butt cape for an easy access hole. It has leg capes instead. Small ones. Some ascalonian tight pants under and you can admire dat butt.
Rallying and downed state is an integral part of GW2 combat that soften up the difference in gear/build vs numbers and skill. Remove it and you kill what makes GW2 just GW2 combat.
Does it have drawbacks when heavily outmanned? Yes but you cant fix that. Its impossible to fix without an equally bad impact on small scale combat where the outnumbered group won due to good teamwork and resses. Whatever make the 20 man group stronger in a 20v40 fight will make the 40 man group twice as strong in a 40v20 man fight. Its as simple as that.
This isnt really that big of an issue in small scale if you bring the right tools and tactics to the fight – instastomps, ranged stomps, pulls, knockbacks and quick stab. Not just braindead zerg builds.
Stronghold in theory was a good idea but IMO it suffer two fatal flaws:
- 5v5 is woefully inadequate for the game mode. 8v8 would have suited it much better, maybe even 10v10.
- They didnt go full MOBA when they should have went full MOBA. The reason the above point is such an issue is because its two independant lanes which doesnt clash. Theres no back and fourth movement. If it was one lane of NPCs duking it out while players tried to sway the battle along that route, 5v5 would have been enough.
Roaming is simply having the courage to stand apart from the zerg.
The only thing we need is half a dozen tag shapes to choose from, simple as that. I want to run around as the pink quaggan commander.
We’ve had golems for 5 years. They are technically vehicles. Also Charr cars for 2 years.
Uh…
What’s going to stop you from running rifle and p/p anyway? Deadeye deletes weapon swapping on the thief?
The only elite spec that provides a meaningful amount of barrier is scourge. Your examples are likely impossible unless you’re being supported by one.
… then what about supported by 25 of them, which is the most likely scenario in WvW?
Notice how in the video he says it’s for some specs? Ie it’s an OP mechanic made only for PoF elites to make them considerably stronger than HoT elites, in order to make people buy the exp pack. Wouldnt surprise me either if these elites can support other PoF elites by adding it via AoE.
Yes, it’s probably as simple as that.
Imagine fighting a berserker warrior with an eqvivalent of 35K hp or so and adrenal health + healing signet.
Also I’m guessing this “over-health” cant be added to via normal heals (ie GW2/HoT build skills) or it would make some classes hugely OP. Imagine a full vitality ele healbot. What could we reach? 30k hp? 40k?!

I can’t use 7th generation on W8.1
Aside from pointing out the obvious – Win8 is a completely dead OS and you should toss that garbage ASAP – then get a 6 series or something. Hell you could get a 6850K (6 core) cheaper than that 4770. Or the i5 6600 as mentioned. Looking at newegg, there is 6600K mobo+cpu combos down to $350 (in comparison, a 4770 there cost $400).
You havent really stated your definition of a “cheap” upgrade. Again, looking at Newegg you can get an i5 7600 combo (mobo, CPU, 16gb ram) + Win 10 Pro for $540. Prolly wanna make that $600 and get decent tower cooler with it. A Ryzen 1600 is roughly the same cost.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
Based on your link… if I want to play GW2 on Windows 8.1 I should pick Intel Core i3-6098P, Intel Core i5-4690 (I won’t OC) or Intel Core i7-4770? I’ve only picked CPUs with good price/performance ratio. Can i use my old ram for i5/i7? It’s 2×4gb 1333Mhz ddr3. I know that i3-6098P needs ddr4.
Not sure how you reached those conclusions… and you can barely even get those CPUs today. The i7 4770 in particular is considerably more expensive than a 7700K, probably the best Intel gaming CPU you can get. If you can find the 4690 I’m guessing it too will be more expensive than a newer gen i5 7500 or similar. The i3 remain a complete waste of money.
You can probably forget about the ram.

Hello… Since my motherboard is dying im looking for new one and cpu. I’m thinking about Intel i3-6300 or i5-6600. I would buy cheaper one… but… if I3 will work like my old phenom II x4 and provide 10-20 fps in zerg battles ill take i5. Which one would you recommend?
i3, i5, i7, i9… you will get 10-20fps in zerg battles regardless.
Anyway do not get an i3. They are obsolete. Can it run GW2? Sure, np. Do you plan on only playing GW2 for the rest of your life? Any new game taking advantage of multiple cores will see fps tank on the i3.
The i5 is… questionable. A 6c/12t Ryzen will be similar price and smack the i5 around like a baby in multithread perfomance, while having 90% of its singlethread performance. If you plan on overclocking alot (ie reach 5ghz) the i5 is a better deal for now I suppose (6600K then obviously, not 6600).
CU is far too old school for my liking and still fairly buggy in the betas.
There is no CU yet, it’s just a game project in development, currently in Alpha state, close to first Beta, so can’t be put on this list – yet. About bugs in a project that is not even in beta… that’s… no comment. But it’s the only real upcoming competitor to WvW, though WvW could still have it’s own niche: converting PvE players to a fun, team based PvP. More games is better, it’s not like there can be only “One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, One ring to bring them all…”
which is why they regretted releasing pre alpha footage on youtube because people who are apparently ignorant to the concept of pre alpha-alpha-beta where kittenting on the game for looking outdated
we have to thank the AAA games for that
No, we have people that hyped it to the sky to thank for that, lol.
CU has been touted as the GW2 WvW killer on these forums since 2013 or something.
They aren’t hard to spot. They run on the same path, face the same way, stop on the same point and run to the same cap, over and over.
… all I’m playing with is just bots then
So does this mean that in WvW we wont see a 98 stack bleed in 3 seconds with a 2 second to respond kill time?
It does indeed.
Now you’ll only see 85 stacks of bleed killing you in 2.1 seconds.
Only if you also make a double barrel flak gun dolly tactic.
The issue here is the same as rewarding server points per objective cap/activity. It becomes fully dependant on the enemy allowing you to get points by playing the point game in return. Thats not how a game of war is supposed to play out. We already partially have this issue (ever tried getting participation up by watching over a border you already own and the enemy does little on?). We dont need more of it.
Hopefully ANET can trace what files are making players de-sync -or- lag against specific servers and comment in this thread to help those who may not benefit from this resolution.
Well, they’ve had this same issue for 5 years so… I doubt it. I remember the first year of GW2, lol. Had to redownload the game every 2-3 months simply because each patch broke it more and more. Not so bad nowadays but still recommended to sometimes take the time to simply delete the big .dat and let it redownload.
So does this mean a roamer can wipe a blob by capturing their territory while they’re all mid air?
Technically yes, but how many objectives are high enough with a covered lord while no one notice that the door or walls are broken, allowing a roamer to capture it while a 50 man zerg run past in order to glide somewhere else?
If you see that once in 3 months I would be surprised.
Doing it to defenders routing (ie you just capped the objective while the enemy zerg flee garri south or something) is far more likely.
I like the territory concept, its used on old rts game like Empire Earth 2. The Glid is just embellishment. ….. The Glid is just an ornament for the player base formed by bouncy and colorful dancers, i despise it.
Fun fact: I suggested territories long, long ago to fix an issue in the game – outmanned. Rather than having global outmanned, it would be local and the map split into like 15 “zones of influence” around objectives. That way 50v50 could fight at bay and not be outmanned, while 5v25 could fight at hills and be outmanned.
Anet done stole my idea! Lol.
