Well of course there is a weekly cap on pips, theres only so many ticks at max possible gain while playing 24/7. Not sure what that matter.

Anyway, eotm isnt WvW so pips shouldnt apply but I do wish the participation would remain. At least then it serve as a waiting room for real WvW.

That makes sense. Spvp community in this game is also the most toxic community I have ever come across in any game.

Participation works as intended, if you die, you lose some, great. *IT IS A COMPETETIVE GAME MODE. WINNING FIGHTS SHOULD BE REWARDED, LOSING THEM SHOULD BE MUCH LESS SO. *

Except you get nothing for loosing. Not less.

Imagine the following scenario:

There are two people in WvW. They are enemies. No one cares about objectives, they just fight. Two participants of WvW. One has the better class/build/skill and win over the other every time. 10 fights, 15 fights, 20 fights. The looser keep trying because he wants to figure out how to win, but he just cant. Besides, there’s no one else in WvW anyway. So both keep participating in WvW.

Now guess how much actual participation that loosing player gets.

No really, guess.

It doesnt interfere with gw2 so much as it does the entire machine.

I updated two days ago and it was completely kittened until I turned off UAC. That miserable function is broken in creators edition or something.

First time I started GW2 after the patch, both my screens just dimmed with the language selection at bottom right. Clicking that locked up the machine. Escape did nothing. Ctrl alt del made it go black and eventually get the prompt after like 5 minutes… only to freeze when clicking something.

At first I thought it was just GW2 that was broken, but then I tried to start discord (to rant about the update) and of course, same exact behaviour. Thats when I put on my headphone and heard the prompt noise and realized that kitten, that must be the UAC prompt!

No problems since turning it off. Just a few days doesnt really say much though.

But this is seriously broken for scouts. The easy fix for that is to make escorting a yak give enough of a buff to the decay timer to allow you to run another yak . . .

No really, dolly escort events giving participation – which as far as I know they dont, not mentioned in the post listing the timers so PLEASE do correct me if I’m wrong – would pretty much solve the “scouting issue” as getting dollys into objectives is an important part of watching over it (and adds something to do around it).

Dollys is also a continous and steady activity, unlike capping an objective (once it’s capped, you cant exactly recap it if the enemy dont cap it) and a natural magnet for enemies, which leads to even more activity if they are escorted.

That is WvW.

Not giving bloody 5 minutes timer to killing a kittening kittened veteran creature no one gives a flying kitten about unless its veteran daily.

The outnumbered thing really isnt that bad, though I think the timer should be half a tick instead of a full tick.

The participation issue is just… sigh. While I understand some timers, its just pushes a 100% offensive karma train policy that punish the dirty work of WvW which has already been brushed aside over the years. The worst part is that this combined with insanely strong T3 objectives and defensive siege cause extreme frustration to those of us that run small scale – we can no longer spend time trying to slowly drain objectives because we’re apparently not participating in WvW. Our participation hangs on the enemy gracefully allowing us to get some participation.

Someone mentioned that if you don’t escort the collection NPCs all the way back to town, it won’t start? If that is true, that is kinda crazy. In our 15 min windows, it just takes too long, it’s dead space. That needs to be fixed.

Of course you have to finish the pre-events… they can be done by a single player, unfortunetly they are often scaled up by 100 players thinking “naaaaah… someone else will do that” and then everyone wonder why theres no dragon coming.

I can say what I have a problem with when it comes to people naming their character – just random “cool” or theme names with no commonality like a first or last name.

I mean sure it may sound nice if you have a sylvari thief named “Salladblade Kalehead” and a human ranger named “Legolars Fauxelf” but when I look at those two characters I have no idea who the player is unless I start looking at account name details

Thats why all my characters are named “Wafalls Tjoinsertrandomshortwordhere” (dont ask for name logic). I am easily recognizable by anyone on my server no matter the character I choose to play as, because everyone refer to me by first name.

If one only have a single character then sure, a unique name works but yeah… altoholic… GW2 heavily encourage that.

Sorry just a rant because some players naming schemes make me confused :p

I think that Heroes of the Storm has a better idea: Instead of just showing the winners, better show the players that did most for their team from BOTH teams. Now the screen can make feel more kitten the winners that scored higher and feel better the best players from the team that lost.

Waaaaaaaat nonono I think you have GW2 confused with some sort of PvP game where the players are in focus.

Conquest is only about the random team you had the random luck to get randomly assigned to. Clearly better than any such laughable non-competetive game no one has ever heard of (how can you be a hero of a storm anyway, did you beat up the storm in combat? Or did you save the storm and is now its hero?).

If there was no activity on the map, I would not expect to be rewarded for activity. You can argue that there should be meaningful activities to do at such times, as I have in the past, but they do not exist at this moment.

That’s a rather intense population problem and, while serious, is a totally different issue from participation. Still not a reason to expect rewards for “watching paint dry.”

This would imply that scouting is a meaningless activity that should get zero rewards.

My activity was mainly defense events, flipping sentries and killing enemy roamers/zerglings. Of course, there could still be an issue with participation, but I have yet to find it.

Its easy to find it.

What would you have gotten participation from if your side held all the sentries, no one contested anything and there where no roamers or zerglings around?

WvW is gonna be dull when all you do is watch paint dry. Literally, you watch the color of a monument go white so you can cap it again. Or you escort a dolly, but that take longer than the decay timer. Great.

Anet you are turning a fun and free form game mode into a race against the clock for participation kittencake.

If it takes you a long time to cap a t3 keep, there are enemies to kill and guards that respawn.

Otherwise I’m wondering what you do for more than 10 min in a keep.

Oh you mean the enemies that never comes out of the keep because they are sitting on the 20 ACs covering every inch of the outside area and the guards that 20 people kill in 1 second while you are busy trying to heal the rest of the zerg getting slaughtered from the previously mentioned ACs that has at least 3 overlaps?

I dont know what tier you play in but if it takes you that fast to cap a T3 keep its either undefended or the enemy want you to cap it.

Less Kits: Power or Condi?

Your answer will differ depending on the game mode, saying in general doesnt help. Also least kits is a matter of definition. Some would probably consider 2 kits to be the least you want. I could run power and condi engie with no kits. I used to run all gyros before final salvo was nerfed to the ground. I’ve done it in both WvW and sPvP and at least I can roflstomp players on my own skill level (even after nerf). That said I generally choose to run with the toolkit because it offer extra utility.

FSP has long been hailed as a fight server. Its not. I cant even begin to count the times we’ve had 30+ people in spawn – even before the pip reward patch – and still be utterly incapable of defending our spawn camps or towers from less than 5 people. I have seen 20 man guilds just stand in spawn, not doing anything for an hour when we are constantly saying that we need help. You could argue “well maybe they are afk until raid!” Yeah. Right. While jumping around and talking. Theres just something about people that make them unable to act without commanders.

But I guess the definition of fights vary from people to people.

The fix only helps against map hoppers, it doesnt fix the basic issue with outnumbered being such a huge bonus it activly make people not call for defense. Its anti community and anti WvW.

I dont understand how Anet cant see this, sigh… nerf outnumbered pip gain. Buff overall pip gain. Everybody happy.

High DPS classes could take the barriers down quickly. Besides, you didn’t have to destroy them, there was never one at mid sentry in the south, you could just walk past if you didnt want to bother with them.

No, high power classes could take them down, no one else could. This was before condi did anything against structures. It basicly crippled certain solo or small group players against it while a zerg pushed 1 once and they where through. Its was unfair and pointless, encouraging zergs and punishing roamers. And yes, you had to destroy most of them because Anet bugfixed the ability to bypass them (except that one east of garri which you could only go through north to south). Going the long way around also encouraged roamers never to meet and fight, as the ones holding it took the portals through.

Almost everything was wrong with the barricades and it was one of the most horrible features ever introduced to WvW, if not the most.

But granted, at least they didnt lag the entire map.

Below is my final from last week… i played 73.6 hours in WvW and never broke 300. If you’re getting over 400 for outnumbered, then you’re actively farming it.

Yes well maybe players farm it because they dont have time to spend 10 hours a day in WvW.

I know if I did I would literally only have 2 hours to sleep between working, playing and generally staying alive. I wont cry when its gone – under the assumption we get more pips in general – but being outmanned in the middle of primetime is pretty sweet. I got maybe 150 outmanned points this week already and I’ve still not cleared gold.

I am suprised this bug is not fixed yet if a 3rd party addon (Arcdps) can fix it.
For people who encounter this bug frequently I definitely suggest installing arcdps (having it run with UI disabled if you dont want dps meter is good enough)

Lolwat that makes absolutely no sense (unless this “arcdps” thing contains malware in which case an ad like this makes perfect sense).

Actually, Alpine SET is the worst tower of any map. You can’t put a treb up and hit a keep and a treb In hills will make swiss cheese of the walls.

Which is exactly the point that drives WvW. When the invaders cap the border tower, hills automaticly become a priority target because its a major threat to the tower. Without hills, the tower is always in danger. This create a zone of conflict in that area when the two objectives are held by different sides.

When a tower on DBL is captured, no one gives a flying kitten because its not threatened by anything nor do they create any particular zone of conflict.

They just need to put Cloth and Leather nodes around in PvE maps, like how they have them in WvW. Just not in Guild Halls or Home instances.

Wouldnt help at all, lol. Despite them being introduced just for this purpose WvW synthesizers have near zero chance to drop T6 and on top of that near zero chance for a second try, you only get one mat. Hell getting T5 is incredibly rare. T1-2 is probably 90% of the loot table.

Even on a normal Friday night after 2 hours a play, can no longer waypoint – it takes 4-5 minutes or my character is invisible now. People have been shrugging this off as the waypoint bug or the memory leak for at least a year. Please start bug reporting this so it gets on the docket to be fixed.

Last I checked Anet still had no idea what was going on and they are unable to troubleshoot because players arent providing them the necessary information that players cant provide because its kittening random.

So you know, its your fault Anet cant solve this.

I would. For example berserker and valkyrie in PvE is mainstat power. Marauder is a hybrid. The mainstat amulets have 1200 points in their main, not 1050.

I was thinking mainstat Healing Power. Like PvP’s Mender’s. Though replacing that vitality with Ferocity or Concentration would be fun.

Menders isnt mainstat healing. Magi is the only mainstat healing amulet and it still doesnt come close to fully buffed PvE stats. Menders is secondary stat numbers (quick test on gw2skills, ascended zealots + healing food is 1060 healing power, no runes/sigils/etc).

This is how foefire work you know. It’s how it’s always worked.

If you see a large amount of people voting for it in the rotation, it’s probably going to be a blowout. Because they do that on purpose. Winning on foefire is incredibly easy if you get a team that know how to play it, you can completely steamroll the enemy team – which usually also mean they are very, very likely to have at least one guy giving up after a single mid wipe while spouting noobs gg bad team kittens etc, ensuring victory.

Builds in WvW are not balanced for 1 vs 1. They are balanced only with groups.

(ignoring the fact the OP is talking about warrior and thief, two of the strongest 1v1 classes)

30s? Thats very sluggish, you need to up your game. Most thieves will run away after they realize they cant kill something in 2 seconds because that might actually be something dangerous.

So a month in and Anet reward system has utterly failed in attracting permanent new blood. There is currently a 60 queue for ebg. Yes, slightly more then before the reward update, but hardly something that you want to write home about. It is also the only queue on a Saturday evening at prime time. It will drop more and more again as time passes. This is T1 EU and my server is winning.

Lol you think thats bad? FSP had literally no queue to EB on reset. Yesterday primetime we had enough to populate one border, the others where outmanned. The links matter a fair bit. Well that and its now summertime.

The problem I see with the rewards is that there is… a conflict of interest… the harder it is to get them. I still had vacation a couple of weeks ago, could get some more playtime in and reached diamond every week but now I am back to work and I find it a bore to do this. I dont want to play WvW all the time. I want to play PvP and PvE as well, but WvW aint letting me. Not if I want the weekly rewards.

Sigh… it really has become a full time job.

15$/month mean 1800$ in 10 years… better than waste 100 000$ to get all endgame item ( or 180 000 hours of farm , choose what you prefer )

monthly subscriptions mean anet or other company have to works to add content to keep suscriber , and its not easy than just create a single item with 5min and put a droprate so unreal who put the cost over 1000$ who will let player farm 1800hours.

you promised in earnest with this year old beta to fix the gamemode. Not introduce pips and spend all ur future resources on “pip support”.

That may be true but you got to realize that condi p/p and power hammer is two entirely different beasts.

It’s like comparing a thief to a guardian. Do you expect the thief to hold a point while the guardian hunt down enemies?

As long as you play a build to its advantage, not being able to stand on a point isnt necessarily a bad thing. Good group composition and tactics usually beat the enemy.

Also I havent heard of this snake gyro you speak of but the idea intrigues me. Does it throw snakes on the enemy when it spins? Or is it just a snake with a little propeller tied to its head that fly around trying to bite people?
