1. Seems chat has calmed down I have absolutely zero blocks. I wish people would learn what Team chat is for though…sigh
Learning whats its for after this patch is pretty pointless. I’ve seen people cry about how garri is under attack, they need help. Well just tell the enemy to wait for an hour while I clear this 50+ man queue, np.
As a thief, I’ve only actually seen one group actively kicking thieves and rangers when the squad’s full. However, I’ve seen countless commanders stick all of the thieves and rangers into a “reject” party, give them zero stability, then let confirmation bias kick in when those thieves and rangers get CCed and bombed…. due to the lack of stability. Most people, in general, have no clue what thieves actually bring to a zerg. Anything that isn’t blatantly obvious and practically slapping them in the face goes completely unnoticed. I can put out 9 blast finishers in a row. I can get an entire backline to spread out and waste their bomb, and a few will burn some dodges too. I also do a ton of CC/interupts. I also do boonstripping/sharing every 20 seconds. I stick on the tag like glue, and I’m either the one rezzing the commander or going down after them. The only times I go down before the commander is when they stick me into said “reject” party, and I get CCed then bombed because 0 stability, and all of my other stun breaks are on cooldown.
The problem is, putting thieves/etc in stab parties is pointless because you should never be where that stab party is. We dont have infinite range on skills.
Some commanders dont give a kitten about the backline and will let them get bombed and then whine about it, true. Thats when you leave the squad and make your own. Many commanders will assume that if you join WvW as a glass cannon ganker, you can avoid a bomb and CC while flowing with the zerg frontline. You made the choice to bring a thief.
What do you mean “anymore”?
Druids have never been desired in the zerg. If you want healing, bring a couple of tempests with ~1200 hp and have them cycle fields so that they got both the backline (big water), frontline (small water) and the push (water overload) covered. With that they should also have enough offensive power to switch to fire and do massive area denial on downed groups.
You gain a ton more gold now!
Waiting in queue for hours farming PvE.
If you die 2-3 times in an hour you are doing something wrong.
Or you are roaming against impossible odds.

Can GW2 be played on an entry level computer?
in Account & Technical Support

Oh right, got the numbers confused. Was a GTX670 windforce, still laying broken on a shelf lol.
Budget laptops may be “cheap” (not $500 cheap, more like $700+) but they are crippled in terms of CPU strength, something GW2 loves.
Plus, the OP wanted something modern, which I will assume mean something that’s gonna be decent 3 years to come for current and new games. Otherwise just buy any old piece of crap. On a desktop, just a decent screen, CPU and graphics card is $200 a pop. And thats as budget as it gets, not very future proof.

Depends on what you define as “reasonable”. When GW2 was released, I was running on a GTX970 and an i5 750 or something CPU, lol. WvW later forced me to up the specs somewhat but hell, even top of the line today will dip low.
Secondly, what the heck kind of modern machine will $500 buy? Just the graphics card – a budget graphics card – is half that price tag. Quick look at newegg show the desktops (not the gaming desktops) start at $700 and thats literally steam powered potatoes. An entry level machine I would put at $1000…
Anyone else noticed that?
Because I have. So much more balanced numbers. With everything flipping so fast things remain at T0-T1 with minimal bonuses. The difference between #1 in PPT and #3 could be just SM. No more blowouts by that one server holding T3 keeps.
Tier based bonuses kittening sucked when Anet introduced it and ruined any resemblance of scoring balance. This has been one of the core problems ever since the revamp.
I like all u listed except the reduced kick timer, what if i have to take a kitten, i dont want to sit in 120 man queue again.
If Cartman can solve it, so can you.
6. Get rid of those lags that only allows skill 1 to be used.
They havent been able to fix that for 5 years but surely after this patch its a small 5 minute job. kittens sake Anet change the game.lag = 1 variable to 0 already. It’s practicly like changing pip score!
They just need to add more chance for T6 leather to be salvaged from armor.
And bump the salvage rate 3x on synthesizers. The drop rates are absolutely ridiculous compared to ore/lumber synthesizers frequently giving out ancient/ori.
But considering Anet has done nothing, they want this. Doesnt help what we say.
Commander Bonus
Squad with 5 players – 1 pip
Squad with 25 players – 2 pips
Squad with 50 players – 3 pips
This basicly mean your 50 man tell your 5 man squad “oh look, you’re useless”.
I suggest the following instead:
Squad with 5 players – 3 pips
Squad with 25 players – 2 pips
Squad with 50 players – 1 pip
The drop rate is actually insanely high, almost every kill drop them.
But since they are invisible, no one picks them up.
During the recent wvw patch, Killing a Charr player will guarantee leather drop
And the only thing PvE farmers need to do is wait behind 150 people in queue for 2 hours!
(also the guaranteed leather drop has a 0.000001% guaranteed chance to drop)
The main problem IMO is the way the skill shoots – it’s utterly worthless in mobile combat (WvW, off point sPvP). You’ll rarely hit anything with it. The skill should be an actual targeted pistol shot that explode on impact, glueing the target and everyone around. The effect should be the normal immobilize, but if a daze is added it would be so much more usefull.
Thank you for the correction White Hunter.
Was not aware that 100 cm gives you 1 fractal page.Okay the correction is;
- Legendary Fractal Backpack Ad Infinitum = 1 Month ~1h per day for 100cm + 3 rec
- Legendary PvP Backpack The Ascension = 2-3 seasons. ~30-45 min per day.
- Legendary Armor = 12 weeks. ~3-4h per WEEK.
- Legendary WvW Backpack Warbringer = 16 weeks, 3-4hrs per day. (Assuming you earn an average of 5 pips per 5 minutes)
Well then you’d probably have to take into account working at far less than 100%. At a sluggish pace it could take what, 30 minutes just to start gaining pips? And another 1-2 hours in queue if you only play primetime. So you are probably looking at 50% effieciency, ie more like 30+ weeks in practice even if you dedicate every evening to WvW.
I usually play WvW ~2h an evening every day and this week over the 4 days of the matchup that the patch was out… I got the first silver tier before it reset back to wood. Hahahaaa… WvW is going to be hell in the foreseeable future for those that actually just want to play. Here’s hoping to people giving up at a rapid pace, or we just witnessed the death of WvW as we know it.
Hahaha.
Small 3 man roamer guild, I stand in a random PvE zone admiring the view saying I’m just gonna spam the WvW menu border button. The others goes nooooo… got to stand by the portal and spam, otherwise I wont get in!
WvW resets, I get in instantly. Both of them disconnect and have 60+ queue when returning.
T’was a dull hour before I gave up.
The problem is that random offensive groups will run around 10-15 peeps. Thats not bad but the defense just cant keep up. You’ll see 3-5 randomly run into a contested objective putting up a futile fight. Why not more? Because your own groups are too busy with offensive actions of course.
With guilds of this size (which would easily crush these random groups) being on forced vacation due to hype queues it just adds to the loss of organized opposition. Well, to some degree since many usually go full we-only-fight-kitten-objectives mode.
I think this will naturally find more balance in the future but for now… people just want loot ASAP. Aint nobody got time for defense.
To me, a WvW’er (WvW player) is someone who spends most of their online time in WvW.
Could also be someone who post longwinded rants on WvW in the WvW forum. PPT, PPK and PPP working as one.
Wait we have “WvW gear” gear now? What is the stats, +power, +vitality, +salt?
Queue times vary the most with commander because 80% of the population are like headless chickens without someone holding their hand. 30 man queue where com left and no one else tag up can go by in 10 minutes, 30 man queue on an active border with a well known com can take an hour to get through (or more).
And I find it hard to understand how any serious prime time WvW player can defend Anet for the current situation
What is there to defend? These kind of queues where fact in WvW years ago. We’ve been here before – with an utterly broken queue system that you could exploit to get ahead, took em a while to fix that. Thats why people will be “meh” for a while. In the long run and with continous long queues of course it’s gonna hurt everyone. I dont like it as a person that often switch class – thats impossible now. But I can handle it a week before I start to consider the well being of WvW. Queues where already halved yesterday compared to tuesday. Will be interesting to see how it looks this weekend.
Using siege against enemy walls/doors also grant participation.
Ranks are random due to the “invisible” wxp pots (ie you will rarely take notice of them). Ranks has always been pretty fast in general.
Multiply that by 40-50 people, and suddenly you can be hit with 50+ bleeds, numerous burning and loads of other condis which are impossible to remove and down you instantly.
Minor nitpick with your post:
That doesnt describe 40-50 people, that describe a single reaper.
WvW? Not at all.
PvE? Probably.
I complained about those hardcore “raiders” AFKing in spawn (often 25+) ruining outmanned while we roamers are out in the zone fighting 5v30. No one cared. Now when loot and pips is involved, its suddenly of paramount importance to fix outnumbered and afkers.
#WeOnlyPlayWvWForFights
It’s also potentially 8+ hours. 8+ hours that you have to put in every single week without fail or you lose that pip for 3 weeks.
Well thats what activity by definition is…
But granted, I suppose it depend on the players. I can definetly see a situation with many guilds complaining about this when they are standing AFK in spawn for an hour or more waiting for the raidleader, heaven forbid they actually have to work for extra loot.
We need to update the loyalty pip description.
You need to earn at least 75 pips for 3 weeks in a row to earn the loyalty bonus. We wanted players to have to participate in skirmishes to be considered loyal.
Hello, I’m not quite clear on this.
So you need to get
75+ pips on week 1
75+ pips on week 2
75+ pips on week 3And then so long as you remain on the server, you will get the loyalty bonus?
Or will the streak reset if you miss a week, and you need to do all 3 again?Needing to earn 100+ pips weeks 1, 2 and 3 is correct. If you miss a week you will need to do all 3 again.
*Edit: It should be 100 pips not 75. So you need to complete all of Wood Tier for 3 weeks.
How the hell do you guys manage to screw up such simple concepts so badly (Especially after hyping them?)
I think the only mistake they did was to name it “loyalty” bonus. Should have just named it activity bonus. 100 pips in a week is less than 2 hours of WvW @ 5 pips gain. Thats what most WvWers will do in an evening. Its not really a big deal maintaining that.
Anything that encourage kills per death displays will inevitably lead to elitism and cowardice when fighting against the odds.
I dont like this idea.
Meh, take a week, chill from WvW and see how it is. Do world exploration, do guild missions, brush up on those jump puzzle skillz and hunt achievements maybe?
We’re still looking at effectivly the reverse scenario of a living story release (ie when WvW turn into a desolate wasteland for about a week).
If queues remain this high after that… well then I might become grumpy as well.
Learning the basics in EoTM which is nothing like WvW? That’s… logical… I suppose…
Wait do we want a populated WvW or not?
I’m confused.
When WvW was considered to be at it’s peak, we had queues everywhere every day and literally had to be on a border 1-2 hours ahead of scheduled raiding times or it was just to forget about getting everyone in for the evening.
But now it’s apparently a joke instead.
Using total number stomps and kills is a silly score metric, so I think it’s a bad idea. This puts WvW players into boxes that doesnt really exist to begin with – I can solo roam on my scrapper one hour and zerg on my necro the next.
Such bonuses outside of WvW rank should come from active gameplay, stomps or kill counts, ie what you have done since you joined WvW this session and reset when you log. Should stomp top out the bonus earlier (just like WXP gains)? Of course. A single stomp should equal 5 normal kills or something IMO.
Wouldnt surprise me if this turns out to be totally ineffective.
The stupid OP siege that no one want is reserved for WvW.
In PvE raids, you can CHOOSE who can come with you and exclude anyone who you do not want to join you. It is instanced with the squad, so pugs can’t just come in to your instance and cause your group to wipe. In WvW, pugs can come to your tag rather they’re in the squad or not because they can see your tag. So PvE has a choice of which elites to let in to their squad for raids, but we do not in WvW. Understand better?
Hate to be the bringer of bad news after 5 years (better late than never I suppose) but you dont have a choice who runs next to you whether you are in a closed tagless guild squad or not. You cant control players build or gear and you cant control how elite they are. Because they didnt join to play with you. They joined to play WvW.
But yes, now I understand better. You dont really want the server based WvW we’re all playing, you want something you can control.
“Because I am pretty sure my hp doesn’t regen.”
… when I disengage as a warrior …
Hahahaha, good joke there. Sort of like saying I’m pretty sure my reaper cant stack condi. If your warrior isnt ticking 1000 hp a second on zerker gear, you’re doing it wrong.
But just as Swamurabi.7890 stated, all other game modes allow you to have your squads be exclusive except for WvW for the players with the right builds to join in the action.
I read what he stated and I have no kittening idea what its even supposed to mean. Exclusive squads? What? Its the same system in PvE as WvW. Are you talking about locking the squad? Because you can lock the squad in WvW.
Even so, there is absolutely nothing stopping pugs from following you into battle if thats what your goal is. Hiding your tag wont make your group invisible.
Any group that doesn’t want pugs are the people you’re excluding from the features a squad provides. You’re excluding my guild and any other guild from having access to things that are a part of the game like being able to target multiple people in a squad and having an easier thing to follow.
Except they are not excluding you. You are perfectly free to use the feature. You just want to use it for a thing its not intended for. You are basicly trying to argue that you should be able to drink from the bottom of a mug. Using the opening at the top is just for those lowly pugs.
Come Tuesday, there will be a bonus given to people who tag up in WvW. If there is a commander shortage at the moment, expect to have an abundance on Tuesday.
And a shortage on wednesday again when players find out most of them suck, so they will go back to only following known names.
Our stance hasn’t changed on this. My response that Xenesisll linked is still the same.
Then you’re just as out of touch with your players as everyone thinks you are. On that note, my guild is down to running WvW once a week or even less because of the lack of your team caring about how the players want to play the game. Every higher skilled GVG guild has quit the game because of it and almost all that is left is what you wanted there to be, just pug zergs. But by all means, it’s your game, keep on displeasing your players and driving them away since you clearly know what the players want more than they do.
LOL another guy who thinks he speaks for the entire WvW population…
Current entire? Nope probably not. But the players who have left the game? They left for the same reasons. Stability changes, CC changes, and the fact that anet thinks they know the game better than the players. The same players who paid for the game, expansion and gems in the game, some or which did this with multiple accounts like myself.
You may like zerging around, but that isn’t for everyone. Many people still enjoy smaller group play and playing with just their guilds against the enemies. After all, this is “Guild Wars 2”, not “Pug Zerg wars” right? There is nothing in this game that pits guilds against other guilds, so where does guild wars come from? Lol. At least GW1 had GvG.
All well and good, but are you saying that they also left because they cant hide a squad tag?
Because that’s what this thread is about. Not stability changes, CC changes, condi meta or whatever. If guilds actually cared this much about the tag I’m amazed they even lasted a week, considering we ran without squads and only had a single kittenty tag with no functions in the glory days of GW2 GvGs.
If they will start something like this, they can buy better servers.
All they need to do is buy better servers and reconfigure the game to remove all portals. That sounds easy enough, in my head when I think it. Occasionally I wonder though if the things I imagine are actually more expensive and harder to do in reality.
It’s about as trivial as reconfiguring a car to fly by putting wings on it.
Sounds easy huh? I mean it already got an engine and a body, what more could you possibly need? All you need to do is push the accelerator and off you go up into the air!
Think about that for a moment and then consider if it still sound easy enough.
Edit: In regards to the above post the game assets may be on the drive – that’s not what need servers. GW2 is an MMO. It cannot magically handle unlimited zone populations.

Well, I don’t know about the movie, but Ares (not Aries, that’s an astrological sign and a constellation) feeds off war in the comics. He gains his strength through humans waging war and strife, and cultivates it among humans to grow stronger. Since Balthazar basically said Tyria (and everyone in it) doesn’t matter, I’d say their motivations are different. Unless they gave Ares another spin in the movies, but I’ll have to wait one and a half week to find that out.
Meeeeh sort of kind of no. I suppose I shouldnt spoil anything but the Ares we see in the movie is actually closer to Balthazar in this regard. Remembers its the Murderverse, not like in the comics
So you are saying gamplay will be smoother by introducing tons and tons of lag? O.o
Thats a new one. We already know what happens to a zone when the GW2 skill queue hit its limits at around 300 people and it aint pretty. You want thousands in the same zone?
Considering both are literally the god of war, the same motivation sort of follows.
It would really surprise me though if somewhere in Tyria there is a hidden island populated by only female skritt that has collected the shiniest treasures in the world (among other things the famous Stick of Godpoking or the magical Shiny Rope of Skrittfrodite) and made a baby skritt out of trash.
I call it… Skrittyscira.
Preparation:
You need a squad. A group of at least 13-15 people with decent AoE dmg and pull.
Pfff what is this, GW2 for babies? Solo it!
The blast gyro on the other hand could have been pretty fun to use but they ruined it for me that it only can be activated when you have a target, the throwing of the tag announcing to your enemy that you are sending a slow moving gyro on its way which may or may not detonate when they meet eachother (really dumb ai) even if you try to summon it and detonate it manually in melee range it takes like 1-1.5 seconds which is long.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat it’s working fiiiiiine…
cough https://youtu.be/Dm8aJNptJ10 cough
Overheating seems unlikely – this usually affect stuff like the screen cache failing which cause screen corruption as a whole or the computer will just turn off/reboot instantly. It doesnt differentiate the main render view and 2D GUI… Especially not with an obvious smoothing shader effect applied…
I would do as above say and repair the game. I’d say something is corrupt.
Another question is of course which video card is used. If you’re not using one of the “three mains”, ie the budget, the midrange or the high end of a generation then a driver issue is pretty likely. Unfortunetly throughout the years I’ve had too many people say similar things to “well the GTX1060 is $20 more so I’ll buy this GTS1054XTZ Extreme instead, that’ll be awesome!”.

Since the epidemic changes, the skill has been bugged beyond belief, starting out by often instakilling you and your allies.
On behalf of every WvWer in existance (except maybe you):
Good
