Because rune of the grove is a root that lasts for 12 sec if not cleansed which can be upped with added condi duration aswell i believe.
Not quite sure how that’s supposed to explain it since a druid can root you for like 30 seconds…
Now that is said, a build is only effective if you play it well. If you don’t know your rotation to a T, you will not pull the numbers other people do. This goes for every profession. It’s not as easy as grabbing the best build and doing top dps, it’s how to use it and using it effectively that counts.
Haha, I did a full meta tempest once with the “oh you do 30-40K dps easy” kind of build. I am a casual PvEr (never raided and rarely run dungeons/fractals) but still, I got every class and I know how to use them decently so I figured maybe I could at least reach 70% effiecency and carry myself.
I did 15K dps (with much effort) on the dummy and when testing it against my “can-this-kitten ed-thing-do-anything” personal benchmark of soloing the first urban fractal, I struggled on the first boss (kitten ACs), did ok on the small groups and failed miserably on the final boss because I had problems fighting on the last stage while still keeping up dps.
My latest run with an apothecary reaper running whats probably the complete opposite of meta, I steamrolled the first boss, steamrolled mobs and breezed through the boss lol.
They already explained why this won’t be happening.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Can-we-have-something-Private-Tag/first#post6554291Also with the upcoming rewards you’ll probably see smaller groups anyways, with more commanders around and requiring at least 5 players in their squad.
The new update changes dynamics entirely and encourages people to tag up. This means there will almost always be an open tag if there are no other tags visible.
So the point is moot now.
How does it make the point moot?
The squad remains a feature and it includes a tag on the map. Dont want a tag? Then dont use the feature. Getting extra points when tagging doesnt change that. In fact it only further press the point that its a feature.
And just like getting kittenty coats on medium armor, you’re gonna take it and you’re gonna like it.
Why should power builds ever be viable when you can go power and condi? Its not condi builds. HoT created this PvE where you always get the best of both worlds. Its the same thing in WvW, when HoT introduced unbalancing and OP gear combos thats bunker and damage.
I miss the old days where we had to think “hmmm… I want to go condi but then I have to choose between toughness or vitality… or be hybrid and weaker at both. Oh the choices!”
Now its just lolololoviperinpvelololololtrailbazerinwvwlololololol.

It’s high noon somewhere in the world.
But how do you tell if high noon is the same brightness as midnight?
Do you really want nothing over something? :/
I voted to toss out DBL because its a kittenty map for WvW that does nothing to improve it, so for me that would be yes.
I would also argue that WvW guild claiming would have been better without the 5,000+ gold paywall HoT introduced…
Or that we didnt really need Golem Week.
And that we didnt need to remove waypoint contest gaps or lord ressing.
Could have lived without the 100% AC damage boost too.
But granted, some things have been better than nothing. Being able to run down stairs without dying is great.
It’s called EOTM. ………………………
No, its called PvE…
Your comparison is pretty pointless anyway, 1 scrapper can nearly perma superspeed a dolly, two or more can shuffle them inside as fast as possible. Ie packed dollys supported by scrappers would always be the best.
I like to think that necros are actually one of the few classes with quite a number of viable builds for WvW which we can explore and experiment further.
I’d like to think that too, but here’s two words that completely void what you think: deathly chill.
Its a good reply though.
I miss the old achievements, such as yakslapper. You only had to play WvW like 10 hours a day every day for 10 years and do nothing but kill yaks every minute – also you’d get absolutely no reward for it, just the title – but man what an achievement it would have been.
I dont know about anyone else but every time I hear something like this I feel like going there and complete the event just to spite people.
Maybe I’m just a bad person.
Giant snails is Quaggan favorite food.
But Quaggan ate so much there are no more snails, Quaggan sad
All shells now Quaggan hats.
Heh, you people are a bunch of enablers!
New asura necro has been rolled, and I even bought her a pink quaggan backpack. So far she’s been great!
Was it the smallest size? Be sure to buy the size tonic in lake doric too. You’ll be smaller than a Norns foot. And you’ll run like a tiny energizer bunny on crack.
This is far preferable to a hat on a bald head.
You keep saying that but I dont see anyone that’s bald. Or does your character have hair coming out her ears or something that’s now gone? Or are you talking about a possible beard that’s missing?
The hair is clearly going straight up the hat.
Simple as that.
The benefit of daily reset is to reduce snowballing caused by coverage, and having another chance for a different match up for shorter increments. That’d be about it.
And how exactly does it reduce snowballing caused by coverage? The server with the nightcrew will literally win every matchup if it’s a daily reset. Is that a reduction in snowballing caused by coverage?
If this system was so great, EoTM would dominate WvW. It doesnt. Because short matchups become totally meaningless and even during those 4h, coverage and the dominating server snowballing points is still everything.
Block and you will never hear from them again. It only take a second.
What do you think that large cone space is even there for? Your hair is still there.
Condition in game needs to be reworked, no only as how it applies the damage but also the spamming.
But well Aney doesn’t want us to tell them how to fix their one game now, do they?
Power need rework too. Makes me sick when power warriors spam gs skills. They should change game turn based combat.
And a cover system. Dont forget that.
You can see what this cause in both WvW and EoTM – people stop playing at 50%+ time because the matchup is already decided. That’s not fun. With 24h matchups and assuming a 12h “sleeping” period (ie offtime night to late morning), you pretty much have 6 hours of active WvW and then it’s dead. Put reset at standard time EU and you’d totally kitten it up with ~3h effective playtime on a 24h matchup.
Will that really be fun?
Since you said 24h instead of 20h or 28h I assume you never considered uneven resets either, ie it’s the same hours every day. Which means the people playing at any other hour is kittened.
Then I made a female Norn Necromancer. Perfect. Holds a greatsword strongly, runs with daggers as if she was born with them, looks Majestic with Nevermore weilded.
You forgot trots like a horse. Thats majestic too. It makes you forget about the back hair and constant drunkenness.
Other classes often get only one of those options, usually tying up two traits in the lower tiers in two different lines to achieve the same result as this. How is it bad?
They don’t need to, just give option to hide chest/pants/boots… and voila nude…
If you could hide the chest it would bring a whole new meaning to a character being all legs.
You know what an indefinite tournament would cause?
Indefinite battle fatigue.
When people get tired of “protecting” their server rank every single god kitten week, they’re eventually gonna tank. If you think transfers are bad now, lol… It will be transfer heaven on this “simple” system with “no variables” cause it’s gonna be a constant flow up the ranks as servers drop.
i keep hearing people get this but i have yet to get this bug, not once have i had it. is it a gpu driver bug or something? i mean like i am using a nvida card, could it be an amd thing?
Haha no. I do believe its animation related, buts its quite random and doesnt happen for everyone. You can attempt to trigger it by playing certain classes. Mesmer vs revenant fights have been my trigger a few times. I usually play engie and had never seen the bug up until a couple weeks ago. Start playing mesmer… see it twice in the first week. Go on to play engie and necro a bit, havent seen it since.
I think its something in the teleport skills that completely kitten up the engine, then the next time you waypoint it hangs (timeout is 180s if I remember correctly) and the visual bug is a fact.

I still maintain that Anet could have some fun with this. If winterberries has the same people inside a 2400 range AoE or something for 10 minutes, just dump a very angry invoulnerable berry troll out of the sky, instakilling people in a wide swath around it using a long channel AoE (ie easily dodgeable if the player is active).after a minute or two it runs away. Players killed by the berry troll cannot be ressed, they need to respawn.
Then just apply the same principle on the centaur camp and you’re set.
Or just use the berries themselves. Every 3 minutes, they pulse a berry freeze blast (10s expanding AoE circle). When it goes pop, everything freezes in place (including summons, but excluding ice based mobs of course). The freeze last as long as aegis (ie months) and the only way to get out is to port to a waypoint. Again, problem solved for very little effort and next to no impact to normal players.

I really need to visit EoTM again.
Cause last time I was there it was like a kindergarten for special kids, where keep lords could wipe 25 mans and 5 man guilds could roll 30 mans.
Everytime you take one step within 1200 range of an enemy zerg, you get 5+ condis. Literally. It can be an obvious bomb or it can just come out of nowhere. And its always an eternity of chill or cripple, 20+ seconds of bleed/torment/poision/etc stacks.
If you removed resistance, we would be back to 80% ranged pirateshipping zergs because no one can get close.
That said, I dont really mind. I liked pirateshipping. I could dress up like a pirate and go yarrrr much more often. Nowadays the yarrrr sound you make is from laying on the ground having a stroke, cancer, aids, ebola, diarrhea, diabetes and malaria all at the same time.
Yeah this is an issue with downscaling players, not upscaling events. I am doing world completion on my necro at the moment and low level zones are just mindnumbingly dull. I could pull 20 mobs on me and still kill them without effort – and thats on a tank/healer wvw support build thats in no way designed for pve.
This has always been an issue and the insane HoT power creep didnt exactly help matters.
Spears and trident on land? Why that would be as silly as greatswords shooting lasers or tossing hamm…
Nevermind.
This is my build atm:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNAW7dnc0AVbilbC+2A0biFcBLaDkv+AQXtAwBIuK2FHjA-TlyCQBzY/hydEA8k6PbU5AAeAAF8CAsSlgV4gAURlcAS3QAAEgZOzkZZGoMn5Mn5MLFQfrBA-wI’m playing frontliner in a 15-20 man guild, focused on applying chill & bleeds and removing boons. Gear wise, i went almost full Dire, trying to pile up as much condi damage as possible (for a melee) so those bleed stacks hurt a bit.
I want to test GS with this build, on paper it looks good: 3 skills that chill, AoE pull, Blind field, whirl finisher.
Must say I am a little curious why you choose to put the stacking sigil on the staff. Even being heavy in the frontline, most necros I know of use their staff most of the time, only swapping to secondary for cooldowns, so it’s natural to keep the stacking sigils on that set.
You pretty much only need a piece of gear to fit the 7th rune (since it replace the helmet, you only have 5 armor runes underwater). Especially if using travellers/speed.
I have characters with level 40 crap and 1 out of 2 underwater weapons slotted (which have 2 stack sigils) in WvW when full ascended otherwise, lol. Its just barely relevant in PvE, you need it a handful of times to clear mobs around channeled hero points.
fix this condi can add the boons like protection -33% damage or let protection boon work on condi
So uh… you want a really kittenty version of the -100% condi damage boon we already have?
Well if you know the chrono build, you should also know how to roflstomp them – they got absolutely zero condition removal. So the proper answer is throw away that power build and run condi. Under the assumption that you can actually hit them, a p/p build dumping burns would kill such a foe in like 5 seconds.
Any mesmer that can down someone in a second with power damage is a pure glass cannon and got some clear counters (a single stun from someone that just blocked all that damage and the mesmer is gone). It’s a very good duelist, one of the best in the hands of a good player.
If it was condi… well tough kitten. Trailblazer/dire perplexity remain an OP combo on any class – the mesmer just take it to extremes.
To go even further, I propose we turn the 24/7 matchmaking system into a 4-block 6 hour matchmaking system for the EU, NA, OCX, Sea timezones. Each block will have 3 skirmishes (1 for every 2 hours). Essentially, we turn the Battlegroups into some quasi EOTM system. Obviously, Siege/supply/upgrades will need to be rebalanced. After the timezone block is over, everything resets for the next match. Doing it this way will do 3 things. First, it raises participation at the start of the timezone that will play out throughout the block just like in EOTM, making the matchup predictable to join/leave at each stage throughout the block. Secondly, this will allow commanders/players to be able to play on their terms (allows roamers to roam, ktrainers to pick a map suitable for them, and fight guilds to pick highly active maps to battle). Finally, this solves the timezone “nightcapping” issue, as this allows off hour guilds to congregate to maps that are more active instead of being divided in the current matchmaking system.
Is this a suggestion for a single region?
Because if it is I dont care what the system does, single region will ruin WvW. If you think the lag is bad now it will be unplayable. It’s one of the core reasons ESO flopped hard – Zenimax promptly killed EU AvA at launch by their own kittenty server design.
Blood Magic is not exclusively for condi builds either
Right but good luck getting 1500+ healing power without completely gimping your power damage. Due to the fact you need power, precision and ferocity a condi build only take a small hit in comparison for more flexibility. A necro isnt reliant on precision for procs so they sacrifice nothing for such a roll.
But of course in PvE its zerk zerk zerk or go home and in WvW a necro with no armor, a limp leg and 2 sticks for arms would still be OP.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
Its foreshadowing I’d assume. There might be a self bleed theme on the new elite spec… Sounds strange, but its on theme. Power at any cost!
Are you trying to say… that the necro doesnt have a selfbleeding/poisoning/weakness theme?
axe is trash. if you’re a core necro you’re supposed to run dagger/focus + warhorn in offhand.
Axe does the same DPS above 50% now as dagger, and more damage than dagger with vuln stacks.
Is that single vs single target or does the axe have same dps single vs three targets (if dagger was 3, cant remember).
Personally I find it odd to even argue – you can maintain DS almost indefinetly anyway, lol.
My all rounder is Power Reaper at the moment, with my own set up because she was overcap on crit in shroud. I don’t do fractals with her though because people only see the condi reaper build on metabattle and ignore the similar rated power reaper build. Very odd but whatever ^^
Other than high level fractals and raids I do pretty much everything else on her. Plus power reaper doesn’t need to use minions if you don’t like them (I don’t either).
A condi reaper can tank and be an offhealer while still putting out decent damage so the question is what really is an allrounder?
@Hubal
Great info in those links—thanks for sharing!
@LJMaster
I’m willing to bet that Stonemist upgrades much faster under the new system. I’m thinking it might be wise to shift the number of Yaks per tier based on the type of objective. At least, Stonemist should take longer than it currently does.Hills/Bay seem to have similar upgrade times, though. In the old system, with perfect conditions, they upgraded in ~3 hours. Under the new system, they take ~2 hours. On DBL, where the new system was meant to be deployed, the side keeps take ~3 hours to upgrade due to lack of service from South Camp.
Dont forget speedy dollies. Cuts time by half or more if a few also escort. We never had that before.
“best” is such a relative term in WvW no matter the class.
It’s a reaper chillomancer. That automatically make it OP and cancer against pretty much any target in any situation. But is it really “best”?
Personally I would change that chill sigil to corruption. A single chill on 10s cd compared to more condi damage overall is meh. Then I would pick Dhuumfire over DP but given your hybrid damage weeeeeeeell maybe DP work as well. A chillomancer necro has zero need for precision though. I find Dhuumfire to work pretty darn good smallscale vs evasive classes as you only need a few seconds to dump good burns for no skill cd.
I also find the scavenging runes an odd choice compared to using say krait. Less condi dmg perhaps (balanced out against corruption sigil) but definetly more cancer…
Lastly, your build fail at the “best” requirement as you havent worked in perma-swiftness or 25% there. At best you got 50% uptime on swiftness. That’s not enough in WvW unless you are a zerger and rely on other players (in which case literally any necro build will get you by). Or maybe if you are a claimed objective humper. Having no reliable speed cripples the build in small scale and usually means you are the primary rallybot when fighting groups of equal/better skill or larger numbers. Wiggling your flesh worm around will only prolong it slightly.
But granted, I’m not an expert. I run my necro full apothecary at the moment lol.
Jump ship from SFR… Currently @ some T1 server in EU… hmmmm…
Is this a trick topic? Asking whether T1 servers have drama is like asking if its ok to look up in a hailstorm. Of course the answer is yes. How else will you predict where they gonna land?
Sometimes i have this feeling anet does read our complaints, and do exactly the opposite of what we suggest. “Condis too strong nerf; Ok lets buff them.”
What do you mean “sometimes”?
Its pretty much exactly what happens. They still havent backed down from the 100% damage buff on AC but no one still complains about that huh…
Have you seen those videos of logs in rivers that get sucked down and them comes back up again?
Thats about how gracefull 1U1D will be.
Either way it becomes so much better when all 3 servers just bend over and accept the fact that DBL is kitten and focus their populations on 2 ABL rather than 3 maps. Scoring will forever be kittened up but what are you gonna to. Flipping T3 on DBL is the new PPT shame.
Also a garbage tier, where every time you roll out with a zerg half of them are AFK and the other half are rangers.
Bring back the Shatterer invasion of Ashford so we can PvP in the PvE world again, plus laugh at level 80’s Eir and Rytlock instakilling level 5-10 players.
Well, maybe not Eir anymore.
So has she shrunk again? Because in the latest living story, she was as big as my Asura.
In EU, FSP can easily keep a tier 3 Stonemist against 140 enemy attackers.
Yesterday FSP lost T1 Cragtop on HBL in the middle of EU primetime to 2 enemies that where already scouted in map chat.
True story.
