Server Population

1000 players to camp the three exits? Not sure what game you’re playing but not WvW in GW2 that’s for sure. 10-20 people per exit can keep a server with just a few people from being able to do anything to get out of spawn unless they have a wp in their keep.

No they cant. If we assume you have Alpine hbl, its ~200-300 enemy players to cover that alone because there are tons of exits. Add another 100 players for each of the other maps. That just assumes one server camps another too – if you want to talk one server camping both foes then yes we are up to about a thousand players trying to cram themselves onto 4 maps capable of fitting maybe 300.

What you think I am just talking about EB? EB is not the only WvW. I’d like to see your 30-60 peeps cover all spawns on 2 ABLs, DBL and EB at once and not let a single class pass except maybe a necro without any speed traited. I would also like to see them do that without getting bored within 5 minutes.

server with more ppl spawn for hours , days , spoil the fun for other , making them don’t wanna play anymore
and there is no way to get outta spawn cuz all 3 exit are being spawn camps / with sieges etc …

All spawns have 3 or more clear exits, a server would require 1000+ players coordinating the camping of them all yadayadayada… I am tired of people choosing to be spawn camped complaining about spawn camping.

What are you talking about, SSDs already phased out HDDs in gaming rigs like 4+ years ago. Hell you can even get a drive dedicated for only GW2 cheaper than the cost of a legendary and still have room to spare.

  • Mainhand sword, power – would need to have 3 really OP/powercreeped skills to compete with hammer for melee power damage because hammer 4,5 > shield 4,5.
  • Mainhand sword, condi – still allows offhand pistol. would probably be overall top damage because melee tends to be more dps than range.
  • Offhand sword, power – awkward hybrid build with mh pistol.
  • Offhand sword, condi – competes with oh pistol. As mentioned, it’d have to have insane damage or utility to be chosen over p.

My guess would be main hand power, but that it will still be worse than hammer.

Sword main hand may be Range as one possibility because we are using Holographic images to cause physical harm which would allow Sword to create holographic slash waves for range attacks or use sword as a type of laser beam conduit using Holographic plates to charge the sword to create these things.

That sounds awesome!

And also, this holomamcer should be able to create clones, oh oh and new skills could be wells that complememt superspeed from scrapper with alacrity, it should also be condi specs so we can trait confusion and…

Yep, as the rest pointed out, we have access to thief’s wall or guardian’s wall thanks to that skill, Elixir u was a very unpopular choice plenty of patches ago, until recently it has seen some value on this skill.

So yeah, expect to see more of this, if the player its not playing meta scrapper.

I very much doubt we’ll see much more of it. It has its uses yes but elixirs by their nature still suffer one massive flaw in PvP – they are so bloody random.

Imagine if black powder on thief had a 50% chance to dump a smoke field or a light field. I mean it would be hilarious but we’d be deaf from wailing thieves.

Is expansion 2 make or break for GW2?

The longevity of GW2 has always depended on others doing the entire package better. Base GW2 is just an incredibly good quality game and nothing has challenged it.

New games has come out but there is always something wrong. Great visuals? kittenty p2w combat, back to GW2. Something that could replace WvW? Subscription cost so dead on arrival, back to GW2. Great combat system? Visuals and animations that make you vomit, back to GW2. Awesome MMO features like housing and trading? No WvW, back to GW2.

Etc and so on.

People complained about desert BL maps beeing too large, and taking too much time to get from one spot to the other.
And originally as I remember the WP in both Fire and Air keep was unavailable for the “home” server? (Though can’t recall if it was design or just a bug)

people complain about DBL because:

1st reason – It takes time to ktrain
2nd reason – It takes time to ktrain
3rd reason – It takes time to ktrain
4th reason – Map might be to big for this game since it lacks mechanics and gameplay.

Except you are completely incorrect on the first three reasons. The time it takes to cap everything a WvW map has always been irrelevant, or EB would be the most hated map in the game.

I like how you have converted all your gear to trailblazers (which is what, 30g per insignia?) and then asks for a build, lol.

Power reaper is obsolete in WvW until they change deathly chill from PvE→sPvP balance. There are metas available on metabattle.

If I recall my own build correctly (which isnt quite meta), I run viper+dire/rabid, 1/2/2 (reaper), 2/1/1 (curses), 2/2/3 (soulreaping). Staff is a given weapon, dagger/focus as secondary (immobilize are killers). Skills vary (CC as heal because conditions are being thrown out like candy today, usually a couple shouts when roaming).

Its not a tank but I find it tanky enough. Trailblazers is just so much expensive cheese.

Lions Arch is your de facto “safe place” being used for guild advertisment, the high level zones (70 or above) also have guild recruitment messeges posted like every 5m.

I fail to see the issue. Instruct everyone to stay well clear of activation, try to get an officer there early and guildkick whoever goes near and activate it. If people cant follow simple instructions I fail to see why you need them in the guild.

Thats not entirerly true since WvW maps are comparably small and much more 1-dimensional than PvE maps. The engine is most definetly capable of larger maps.

The WvW netcode however isnt and unlike simply larger maps in PvE class, what the OP suggests is insane size beyond anything GW2 can do.

So no, it wouldnt help because its impossible.

Thinking things over a little more… I honestly believe they could just give Engineers access to weapon swap and that alone would greatly reduce our dependance on kits… it also really wouldn’t make us overpowered either… hell, we’re not even the only class with weapon kits even…

Elementalists have their Conjuring skills that summon elemental weapons they can use, granted they are temporary… but they still get them and still have 4 sets of weapon skills for their weapons…
Warriors have Banners which can be used as weapons, sure they are no better than improvised weapons, but they still get them and still have weapon swap…
Necromancers get their Death Shroud along with weapon swap, and that doesn’t even take up a skill slot…

Meanwhile we’ve got no weapon swap, only 1 set of skills on our weapons (that are hardly even worth using at that)… and if we don’t take a weapon kit we’re utterly worthless…

Elementalists being restricted to one weapon due to attunements is one thing, they can still swap… and they arn’t forced to take specific skills to do so. They can ignore their conjuring skills and be just as if not more competitive as they would be if they took them… Engineers on the other hand, don’t have a built in mechanic to swap, we have to take weapon kits for our swap, and on top of that our weapon kits are BETTER than our weapons… we don’t really have choices for our builds… we have to use weapon kits or we’re worthless.

Giving us weapon swap would give us some real choices… though all the other changes discussed would still be needed… but weapon swap would at least create functional non-kit builds a possibility

Or something more in the engineer style:

Make the secondary weapon slot a kit slot.

So the engineer run kit, weapon, heal, 3 skills, elite.

Put the alt weapon kit on the normal weapon swap cooldown to give the normal kits (ie replacing a skill) the same zero cd advantage.

Well since T6 insignia for a set is around 70 gold, 30 gold for 6 pieces might be a thing, certainly for medium.

With rough numbers, berserkers cloth is 60g for insignia leather, 10g for ectos, another 13g for blood and finally around 6g more for the gear pieces (ignoring some of the cheaper stuff).

So of course it’s a thing. I really dont get why people get hung up on the number. It’s almost 100g to craft the simplest of exotic armor, yes. If people just want the TL;DR version of gear math, berserkers insignia cost 17g on the TP. That’s 102 gold. Crafting or bidding is that little 10g difference.

Cost on sets in general is out of control only due to leather costs (70% of the cost or something) and Anets complete refusal to fix it. No, a new “farm” doesnt help. Up droprates or lower the amount needed. Simple as that.

i was running around solo monday evening T2 and flipped 3 camps in 3 diff corners of the alpine borderlands and didnt come across a single enemy player. (NA Eastern time zone)

WvW is dying, panic, paaaaaaaaaaaaanic!!!!

Or it could be fact its mid week, one server has probably won already and Living Story releases drop the WvW population by 50%+ for like a week.

Doing a 6 hour long sample doesn’t really help, do a 3 hour sample note the loot, then do another 3 hour sample right after, see the difference.

In 45min of leather farm i already hit DR.

Doing any sample is pointless since DR is pure RNG. I have spent hours in Orr without noticing anything and other times DR hit visibly at the first event within 5 minutes of logging on (yes, literally I could see drops go from a few rares to bags, blues and greens, to only getting spikes and other junk while getting no more gear drops, the difference was stunning).

Why even bother using it?

You can check your dps in the raiding area at will against the boss dummy.

In actual combat its irrelevant since you are usually fighting either NPC packs (yeah your 30K dps will be enough against five level 68 mangy and starved quaggans with sticks as weapons) or players in WvW where a single dodge nullify your awesome max dps 55555555 rotation on the daredevil.

Looming is hardly the correct word. 6 months sounds about right for when the expansion could come out (at the earliest). There is a pretty big chance GW2 will see a cheaper HoT cost before then I suppose but its impossoble to tell for sure.

As I have mentioned before, gameplay changes based on outnumbered does not work with the current implemention.

Why?

Because outnumbered will completely disregard whether you are actually outnumbered at a specific place in a specific point in time. It just crunches the numbers in the zone.

By using outnumbered, you could easily see a scenario where 20 defenders are “allowed” to use their OP siege damage mastery against 10 attackers trying to get in, just because those 10 attackers also have a 70 man blob clear across the border fighting another 70 man blob from the third server.

That it supposed to help against the “zerg mentality” will hardly be any comfort for the 10 man havoc group fighting outmanned and outgunned, literally.

I hope it’s real! The mounts look great and will be fun in my opinion.

If they arent real someone went through like… real development work just to fake it, lol. I am usually negative, but I think its real.

The question is, are these a general addition or will it just be a straight up replacement to gliders in the new zones (with some poor excuse that gliding doesnt work there)…

If it is general (available in existing zones together with HoT/vanilla accounts) I guess a couple of things:
- Its probably not going to be faster than running. Maybe an easy way to get the eqvivalent of perma swiftness.
- Combat will more than likely be token as classes are much stronger on foot.
- Not gonna happen for WvW. Ever.

I’m surprised this build isn’t that popular in NA, it’s one of the strongest force multiplier builds that fits into any organised comp, I personally prefer the mantra of pain healing variant for most things (go ministels with transference sigils and riceballs and swap stab mantra with mantra of pain.)

IMO the problem with this “force multiplier” is that unless you have an extremely coordinated guild, its very limited in general zerg use. There is no reason for it to be popular because if you want insane healing you can just stack 10 healbots to blanket the battlefield in waterfields and if you want insane damage you can just stack 10 chillomancers and blanket the battlefield in condis. The first thing make all those boons redundant (you just heal through everything) and the second one make all those boons a liability. Since the beginning the Mesmers have been like… 1-2 per 25 man in the zerg. Decent force multiplier perhaps, but never popular because its not allowed to be lol.

Offensive siege is temporary. Defensive siege is supposed to be permanent. You don’t dismantle your defenses because no one’s popped up in a while. There’s a reason castles are preferred to tents.

But that’s not the real point, I think. Why don’t you want to see a garrison with 20 arrowcarts? If the issue is that arrowcarts are too strong, that’s a different fix.

But defensive siege is permanent. Or are you running around refreshing cannons and mortars? All player built siege is offensive. Whether we use it for defensive purposes just because its OP in certain scenarios – not just million ACs, the humongous supply drain on trebs, catas behind doors etc – is another matter.

Having siege decay over time leaves us in an even worse situation. It still dies if you can’t get back to it soon enough and, now, unless you’re topping it off every 5 minutes, it won’t be at full health when it needs to be used.

Rather than solving the initial problem, it’s just introducing an additional problem.

Or, perhaps you wanted to solve the problem of structures having siege ready made for an assault?

Exactly right on the last part. I dont want to see an 1100 supply garrison with 20 superior arrowcarts already up because what is siege, really?. It’s something you build temporarily, something that should be shifting around on the battlefield… So yes, player built siege should be high maintenance IMO.

We already got static and fixed siege – mortars, cannons, oil. And I wouldnt consider it a disaster if hills inner got a fixed arrowcart (ie no decay or timer) on one of it’s towers, or similar things like that (static extreme range treb on garri roof as part of T3 maybe lol).

You dont really need to handicap too much.

- Remove tier based scoring, all score balance went to kittenoon as Anet introduced it.

- Make walls/doors/guards have a fixed percentage increase per tier. Like, T0 is normal wall hp, T1 is 20% more hp, T2 is 40% more hp, T3 is 60% more hp. Simple. Effective. Right now it’s absolutely ridiculous how the tier system works because not only to wall hp massively increase (nearly 100% to T3) but you also have damage reduction increase by a kitten ton so you are actually looking at around 200%+ eqvivalent hp compared to T0.

- Lower superior siege damage increase to 25% (all). Reduce normal AC base damage to 75% of current.

That’s pretty much it.

Personally I have always been in favor of a more visual display with gameplay impact – no timer at all, just siege constantly loosing hp over time. 10% every 5 minutes, whatever. This hp can be recovered by using supplies to repair the siege out of combat. No one repairing it would be the same thing as no one refreshing it… except now you need supplies to maintain siege.

The amount of static siege just sitting in structures would drop dramatically and if you dont maintain it… well a 10% hp AC get killed pretty fast.

I dont anyone will cry over it, except maybe Rivercart.

Immediate problem with that solution is you will get some spy or bright spark that decides to refresh every piece of siege when supplies are low so you end up with zero just as their zerg turns up by co incidence….

A more elegant solution would be to click on the tower on the map and it lists out the siege (friendly players only?) and remaining timers. Then anyone can see it and deal with it.

Non issue since the same spy could just build 10 rams on the supply depot much faster than running around repairing siege…

Besides, how would having 100% hp on already existing siege be a flaw when the zerg show up? O.o

Zerg commanders getting bonus points is ridiculous.

Zergs already get much more XP and loot compared to smaller parties, no need to give every roamer and havoc the middle finger even harder. Your commander change basicly says that a 10 man party is worthless.

If you want to give commanders bonus wxp, remind them to pick up the guild boost or something. Everyone forget it anyway.

What is YOUR idea for a "Perfect" WvWvW?

My vision for perfect WvW is putting big fights inside structures. That’s when it’s most fun, for me, and what brings all the elements of WvW together.

I think we need more dramatic fighting inside keeps.

I like Desert map Air and Fire keep Lords. They have the right amount of power – sometimes enough to swing a fight and lead to an outnumbered victory. This is a fun thing that should not be changed. Well done, Arenanet.

The old last-gasp, desperate Lord room fights tend be very rare nowadays. In the past, these battles could last long enough for the third side to participate and lead to great, epic battles in the keeps.

I would like to see the return of (or a new replacement for) several features which were removed for dubious reasons;

  1. the “bug” that meant people could waypoint into contested structures,
  2. the “bug” that meant people could banner-rez Lords.
    These are what made WvW more dramatic and exciting.
    While Emergency Waypoints are fun and cool (well done, Arenanet), they are also on a long timer which is six(?) times as long the “bug” – this is too long and often leads to zergs capping before defenders can arrive.
    Nobody really wants to cap stuff without a decent (read: even) fight, first!

I also believe that the Desert map Garrison walls need to be reappraised regarding which walls are destructible. At the moment, there are too few options to counter point-blank siege here – this is one reason that there aren’t enough fights at this keep. (On a side-note, I’d like to see the whole structure redesigned from the ground up. It’s horrible even for defenders).

There are plenty of opportunities for the map guys to make changes to the WvW maps, but I’d keep a copy of the current maps so that reversion is an option – WvW players are notoriously picky, but I’d also be looking to change the layout of ABL hills – it simply doesn’t make sense to have a really long wall at one side that people can;

  1. put lots of holes in, and
  2. just walk past
    In the attached picture you can see, I would remove the blue wall and replace with gates at the positions of the red lines. It would mean shorter journeys for dolyaks, but upgrading hills is difficult anyway.

Everything in this post is my opinion – please explain why, if you disagree.

Yet everyone you ask will go “OMG PPT k-training whore!” when you want to fight in and around structures – just like we did in the old days, when it was much easier to get into structures and easier to hold up caps.

None of them realize that we need to constantly karma train to keep upgrades at a low level and get fun fights around structures. Once a tower/keep is T2 or T3 with 5+ superior ACs that are certain to be there, poof WvW fun flies out window and it’s zerg zerg zerg all day long just to do something.

But noooooooo… we’re PPT kitten and ruin WvW because the true WvWers want “fights” (ie zerging).

So yeah. If Anet is a brickwall, you’re trying to talk sense into the snails crawling all over the wall.

I already know how to fight a reaper when roaming. You gang up on them 5v1 and hope to god your mates arent foolishly stacking on top of each other, otherwise theres gonna be 5 dead players (and maybe the reaper is one of them).

Regarding fighting reapers on scrapper, all I can say is bring your own condi with lots of condi cleanse and hope that the reaper is bad. If you can kite them down to 50% hp at no life force, condi transfer on cd and still have your stealth gyro (and other cds) up you might be able to win by blowtorching their face, causing them to run and be worn down (its not like any of you can flee each other).

Most decent reapers however will dump 8+ conditions with enough bleeds to drop your hp by 20% a second in the first seconds of a fight, causing you to blow all your cooldowns just to survive. Once you done that they are in melee and you are pretty much kittened because there is no class that can cleanse fast enough keep up with the constant condi barrage.

Regarding the reaper itself… its absolutely ridiculous. Its both zerg and roaming meta now, no one in their right mind will bring power necros to WvW anymore, there is literally only 1 build. Epidemic was strong before but at least required coordinated strikes. Now you just look at an enemy zerg and you are instantly overloaded with conditions.

I found Ezoola south east of Snow Ridge Camp waypoint but she appears to be stuck there and unresponsive.

Completely unresponsive or does she have dialogue? Just curious. Keep in mind you also need to complete the gathering event way to the sw of the camp.

My server got linked with underworld, they have some great fighters.

I don’t understand why fsp needs a link..

Gandara, the T2 server was on the way to win the matchup last week with FSP, the T1 server only going past on wednesday or something and you dont understand? It was really down to luck as well – active commanders at the end of the week kept it going rather than falling flat on their faces and give up like most servers do. Gandara could have just as well won last matchup even though they fought against the fat evil FSP with its mean link.

Legendary are the end all be all gear in the game and will allways be that way.

It is? I have 3 legendaries and I can barely use them. Most other is gear is exotic – including 2-3 armor sets and 6+ weapons per character since I need different runes and different sigils for different builds.

Legendary is half broken extravaganza. I did it for the skins and to have something to do, not for the gear. My first was before ascended and stat swapping existed, so just another kittenty exotic (that was soulbound). If you could change runes or sigil at will to any in the game, it would be as you say end all be all gear. Otherwise, no.

If people choose to do raids to take part of this extravaganze… it doesnt really matter. Raids arent progression. PvE isnt progression either. Nor is sPvP or WvW. People will still spend thousands of hours doing what they like. I must be approaching 3000 hours now (which is low compared to veterans) and I havent even stepped foot in a raid :/

Legendary armor aint gonna change kitten.
