Russia is always considered another region by MMO devs. Dont know if it has to do with laws or otherwise, but it really wont happen. Just play the game in English. I have seen different Russian guilds advertising ingame, I am sure they exist.

Also it will be too volatile for the poor suckers stuck right between tiers.

Oh you fought tooth and nail this tier and ranked up? GG meeting 2 servers you have zero chance to fight while the server that got bumped down in your place will meet 2 servers it could dominate with half its population. The result will just be your servers bouncing up and down every week.

The current wide tier range on matchups is kittened, true, but we do need some flexibility and variety, given how the tier system works.

What zones are T3 and T4 mats in?

Point 1 is pointless. Skill is on cd? Use autoattack. That’s what it’s there for.

Point 2 is redundant. That’s just the skill tree (and consumables). They already do exactly what you specify.

Point 3 is equally redundant. That’s basicly just sigils.

Part of the appeal to combat in gw2 is the fast paced nature of it, and long cooldowns on skills are counter productive to that.

Well what kind of cds are you even talking about? Class? Weapons? Skills? Imo weapon cds around 10-20s are ok, anything lower is spammy. For skills, up that to 20-30s. 30s+ on either is where I start thinking its boring (elites at 100s+ being most obvious examples, I’d rather have “weaker” versions).

Your post make no sense without specifics.

I mean sure, I’d also like blowtorch on 1s cd so I agree with everything you said.

I dont know, reviews say it’s pretty average.

Anyway, reapers may be OP but zerkers are just as OP. Adrenal health/healing signet is still OP as all kitten and in WvW the damage of zerker stance is so off the chart that no other class stands a chance 1v1 against any decent player. Buffing it in sPvP would no doubt mean they buff it in WvW too, when it needs to be nerfed to the ground (and I would not mind if it took the reaper with it in the fall either).

My havoc group use to tackle t3 towers and keeps all the time, but it’s not something that’s doable these days unless the enemy is out to lunch because of the changes from HoT.

So then all your havoc team did was karma training? Because otherwise the rest of ypur post make no sense.

Old T3 towers in the early days of GW2 is pretty much T0 today.

You can even do tricky stuff like, pop cap and hold keep before you cap the keep, then wait a short while. Fail it. Pop cap and hold tower before you cap a tower, repeat. Then do the same for camp. Then just pop it on again when the tower/keep is like 2 yaks from upgrading or something.

Yeah we did that with camp/tower. The camp was like 18/20 dollys, tower mission just completed. Popped camp mission, completed as soon as those 2 dollys got in, done deal lol.

Not in the time limit. Not for a tower.
Losing the camp, or even a dolyak that supplies the tower kills it.
Not to mention if someone has to go or disconnects and there were only 3 of you to start. It’s failed out on me enough that I don’t bother even suggesting them.

If it fails then start it again lol.

So what if you have to work a little? I did a guild mission like that not long ago. we where only 3 and we had to cap everything. We defended the camps and the tower, even dumped speedy dollies in. Must have killed 20 or so enemies, lost one of the camps once but took it back (luckily that wasnt the speedy camp). Did it take a while? Sure. A silverwaste farmer would probably have gotten 30 gold in that time. But this isnt PvE. Its WvW. We risked defeat, true. But if we failed we still would have played WvW, like we do every day.

In a 500 man guild (server pug guild) we get finished missions just by starting them on random and hoping for the best, lol. Even if only a few rep, everyone get the reward. God I hate it when they keep starting the dolly escort one and no one cares.

Wish I knew exactly what you’re talking about. I’m a layman, but it doesn’t change the fact that skill lag only ocurrs when there are big fights to everyone around the world, and not randomly when there are no big fights on the map. Whether it is with their programming, servers, or local networking, it’s Anets fault. I don’t know which, but it doesn’t matter. It’s on their end.

You say that this occurs at the stage in between NCSoft and everyone else, so they’re not responsible. Well, no, they still are. If that equipment is out of their hands, then it’s up to them to make a game that works within the limitations of the current state of internet technology. If this is something that they can have some control over via negotiations with the folks that send out and receive their data to the world, well, that’s still on them.

It’s just common sense.

Well its not only common sense, Anet coders themselves has said that the skill lag is due to the serverside skill queue choking under pressure.

As a sidenote: NCSoft is neither the publisher or developer for GW2. So technically no, its not their fault.

Or you could simply nerf fortifications and siege so that small groups are encouraged to spread out, rather than always having ample time to respond to the 2 hours it take to siege something because there are two people inside sitting on arrowcarts making it impossible for anything but a 50 man to do something.

I wish they would make an event week where all objectives are T0 permanently, no superior siege available, but with keep waypoints.

It would be so much fun.

The lag was noticably lower when they lowered the server cap and where stabi was not a pulsing/stacking boon yet.

Well the lag is noticably lower when 3 50-man zergs dont clash either, so theres that.

I must be an oddball among all these 1v1/3v3 etc fans because I always thought GW2 sPvP failed to attract people due to not doing what it does best – group combat. I would rather have seen 8v8-12v12 on larger maps instead.

End of story.

Try to get more and you will need a trophy from the Shatterer just to claim a tower (note, trophy is consumed on claiming and has a 2.6% drop chance).

More waypoints seems more logical.

How about putting a couple waypoints in open space, meaning outside towers or keeps. To prevent kill farming, give players a 3 second window of invulnerability upon using the waypoint so they can quickly waypoint out if there happens to be a zerg waiting there.

EDIT: After looking at the map I think only 1 extra waypoint would make a big difference. Maybe only who ever controls the middle is able to use it. I marked the current waypoints with green X’s and the new one with a red X.

We already have the teleport pads that take you across the map. Too bad they’re buried under a convoluted system no one wanted that make them inoperable 90% of the time.

(also there is no waypoint at north camp)

Why should Anet do it now? Because people think it’s “expensive”?

They didnt do it when guild halls destroyed small scale WvW guilds by locking the only thing guild halls are actually used for behind a massive pay wall and on top of that take away all existing functionality that guilds had already unlocked.

I fail to see what good this would do now.

That’s like giving penicillin to the beaten horse skeleton buried in the backyard, in the hopes it might help him get on his feet again.

Here’s a video on a friend’s budget build for a relative. (Obviously not intended for gaming). It uses an I3 and an old hd 7850 that was lying around. That card is about as good as a rx 460 I believe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEKkzPqI608

Well used cards is a whole different ballpark of course. There is a ton of choices. I ran GW2 on a GTX670 fine, you could probably find that dirt cheap used today. But good luck finding the old cards in normal stores. The only HD7850 I could find was not in stock and twice the price of the RX460, lol.

Sidenote to above: of course case and PSU matter, but it’s budget cards we’re talking about here. They arent very big and they sip power. Unless he has a kittenty Dell or HP or something that shouldnt be an issue.

Doing a quick power calculation test on a random page, I loaded up a Ryzen 1800X@4ghz, 64gb ram, 2 SSDs, a 1080Ti and 10 140mm fans (hey need to cool that kitten!) and land at 570W recommended. Replace that card with an RX460 and it drop to 400W. Of course, I’d still recommend a pretty beefy PSU anyway due lower noise levels when running at ~50-70% effeciency rather than heavy load.

Well looking at overclockers, RX470 is £170 and up I think, but I would not consider it worth it – in that range you might as well get an RX480 8gb for around £200. Some of the RX480 cards are even at around £180.

Given the OPs budget, I guessed that £200 would just be too much. Still I would advice stretching it to £120 at least, if £150 is too much too.

Definition of PPT is PVE
1st Part
Hitting a non player controlled structure such as a wall or a gate, with a piece of shiege that replaces the players skills. Killing a non player enemy. PVE

2nd Part
Sitting in an objective on a piece of siege waiting for an enemy to come, that replaces the players skills.

^^^^^^^This is not fun to me or any of the players that I play with becasue we come to WvW to kill other players. And the players that play the game like this makes us want to kill them even more becasue it is distasteful.

If you go through a broken door, kill 2 enemies trying to protect their tower from their enemies and then walk into the capping circle at 50% and proceed to cap it, did you still by definition do PvE?

if you have a desktop i would suggest either Nvidia Geforce GT 730 or Same but low profile for compact computers each will run you about 60-70£. i have a GT 640 and i run everything on high except reflections(off), character model limit(low), and character model quality(medium), i play with my framerate capped at 30 and v-sync off, rarely does it go lower

Dear lord what a horrid suggestion. The GT730 is about as slow as that HD4000! Do not get a sub £100 card just because you want to be smart and save money. It is not worth it. I have had this discussion with friends more times than I can count and everytime they come crying back to me the only thing I can say is… I told you so.

If you really want to get something around £100, you got for example the RX460. Add a tiny bit more and you can get the 4gb version (for example, https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus-radeon-rx-460-directcu-iii-strix-gaming-aura-rgb-4096mb-gddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-40k-as.html ) at £120.

On the Nvidia side its GTX1050 (faster than the RX by a smaller margin) or the 1050Ti but its gonna be about £150 instead (I think that pricetag also matches the performance increase vs RX460).

I would personally say 1050Ti as a budget card.

As a sidenote if you can stand waiting a month on a new card, do it. AMD is coming with their refresh which should drive down prices on the older RX series. I know I couldnt in your position (yes I have tried gaming on a Surface Pro 2 when my 980Ti broke and I nearly vomited and had to run out and buy a 1060 just to survive it during warranty) but each to their own.

Nomads is kitten for the frontline because:

A) You’re not allowed to pick healing traits/skills because that’s not meta
B) You’re gonna do kitten damage
C) You still wont survive a push any better

If you wanna be a healer, go tempest cleric as you will have decent base power damage and can still be usefull in terms of support. If you want to tank, go knights/soldier hybrid as pointed out above.

If you think PPK is the issue, you’re looking in the wrong place.

The worth of PPK took a huuuuuge dump when Anet in their glorious wisdom decided to throw their arms up in the air and say “kitten it, PPT isnt strong enough for dominating server, we need moar, moar, mooooooar” and introduce severly unbalanced tier based PPT.

It was fine before after the point increase.

Well, of course – go condi or go home.

No seriously, condi chillomancer is so super OP in small scale (and large scale for that matter) WvW right now its stupid beyond belief. You dont bring “support” to the group because you’re bad at it, let other classes bring the support. You bring the ability to completely disable another player in a second due to condi burst that will drop their hp at 20% a second unless they cleanse fast as kitten – which they probably cant since the damage is hidden behind 5+ other conditions. Either way they will most likely have to back off.

The reason people will focus you is exactly this, not because you got poor mobility. Engaging already engaged people is the key, dont run like a reaper frontliner that goes head first into battle – too easy to target and focus you before the fight really begins. Especially if you run zerk power.

Well I was not really arguing that there shouldn’t be an opportunity to rally a downed player. More that downed players get super HP buff that coupled with 15% hp/sec rezing keeps them in the fight far longer than they should be. If the player does get rallied any cleave damage you put down is erased on that downed player as they are returned with a set amount of %hp. Downed state almost plays like a death shroud in effect.

Well when you put it like that, I’m all for removing the death shroud.

Its mostly the over the top ressing capabilities of some builds (eg. function gyro ) that carry worse fighters, enabling them to defeat superior fighters. They can just keep ressing eachother untill the superior fighters are worn down and go into downed state themselves. Its a cheesy way to win and I would like to see something done about it. Too often downed state has too much of an impact on the endresult of a fight in a trollish way.

Yeah except your “worse fighters” obviously brought the better team and tools to win that fight. You’re talking basic dueling mentality on an individual player basis. That’s not WvW. And it’s not even true to real life either. That’s like saying “well we brought 5 Navy Seal snipers to this fight and then these scrubs came with 3 tanks and an attack helicopter, WTF how did they win we we had the better fighters!!!”

Without downstate that fight would have been kitten. Well except for the 4v3 enemies as they would have instantly clicked the I win button (ie stun and kill the first one they focused from stealth). Their mistake not to stomp.

Once again… You get the good with the bad. Rally is an equal opportunity kitten. The guard rally was a bonus, lol.

But it ends up being “impossible” to effectively cleave a downed person that is getting rezzed because they are healed at 15%/second. If it’s a scenario where spiking is just impossible then it is indeed full carry for the people who have more players.

Just having more players is full carry, period. Besides your point is funny, you cleave downed to damage the living. Whether that downed gets up or not is pretty irrelevant when you just turned their group into squishies that has no hp left. If it’s a scenario where spiking is impossible then someone is making it impossible. That’s tactics.

I’m still not sure whether I like looking at the completely bare chest with nippleclamps on my female Asura.

It leaves me conflicted and confused.

On the upside, I barely get to focus on it because your eyes are drawn up to two gigantic black pupils constantly staring into your soul instead.

Its sort of an inverted human scenario, given the same clothing choice.

Are you saying he was supposed to bring a brainless damage build? Small scale WvW group fights is tactics.

I’m guessing the most ironic part of this argument will probably be glass cannon gank thieves complaining the most that they cant pressure downed, when they are the only ones with an insta-stomp…

Or the fact I have heard so many complain about smallscale and stomping yet when I say “well you didnt bring a scrapper” they seem confused, as if they’ve only played their class.

So yes. You bring the proper tools. Thats build diversity. Thats tactics. Thats WvW. Whether those tools are used against you or you use them against the enemy is part of playing the game.

I think once you’re dead, you’re dead.

Too many groups are using the res mechanic to the extreme because they simply have more players but don’t have the skill losing to a smaller group, therefore using it as a crutch.

No rallying at all IMO.

Want to bet that just as many bad situations are turned due to ressing mechanic?

I had a situation yesterday when I got ganked (thief-stun-bomb) in seconds by 3 gank built people, but my guildies got me up and we proceeded to have quite a good fight despite them getting reinforcements. We killed several of them but also rallied several times due to a very close fight, we eventually got killed (it was at their north camp). With no resing or rallying the fight would have been a boring one as their stealth attack would have ended the fight before it even began.

Fact is, the downed state is an integral part of the GW2 combat mechanics. Remove that and it isnt GW2 anymore. I still want to play GW2, thus I cant agree with removing it. Its one of those you got to take the good with the bad deals.

Call it a crutch if you want. If its working against me due to being outnumbered, I call it hardmode. And thats the best kind of situation to win at.

To those arguing “who cares”, yeah I care. It doesnt matter its a gameplay change that has massive impact on WvW, the design of an entirerly new map or a tiny little icon, after all these years I still care. For those that do not care, well dont post then.

The who cares crowd are probably the same people that would be perfectly happy for Anet having us pay per commander color, an intregal part of the functionality of WvW.

Why? You would have a new race new voiceactor new animations on skills etc thats a stupid amount of content on its own with value for years.

You would also need to remake countless skins. Well, unless we assume that they are a carbon copy of an existing race which would kind of defeat the point. Or maybe if they only have one set of armor.

Anet could in that case just release an outfit with a tengu face mask, claw gloves, chicken feet boots and some shoddily glued on moa feathers.

Played yesterday in eb almost first time since EotM launch and didn’t have any kind of condi problems. Enemy even got guild inside their blob. Maybe EotM is just made me so good player that i don’t have condi problems.

Lol EB… Thats just where scrubs that dont know how to instance hop in EoTM play.

Try fighting guilds on borders consisting of 70% condi reapers that perma chill you to death.

Its pretty much the same issue WvW has suffered for years, except its on a micro scale.

I think for sPvP it should just be flat bonuses. Simple and effective. Is your teams total rating less than the enemy? If you loose, get a “fought against the odds” bonus of 5. Did you team loose within 50 points of the enemy (ie 450+ vs 500)? You get a “kitten son that was a hard fight” bonus of 5 points. Etc and so on.
