If you want WvW, then the main difference will come from whether you want to bring it into the zerg without swapping class from the solo run. Engie is pretty much a no-go. Its one of the undesirables (rangers, thieves, engies). Ele is locked down as support, which is fine if you like that. Warrior is one of those that you only need to bring res banner on to be assumed to be “usefull”.
Of course, you dont even need to choose. Make them all.
Anet has spent considerable time and resources creating a bunch of new maps that are leading the story to face off against Jormag and Primordius. You KNOW this setup is to sell more boxes of the next expansion: GW2 Of Fire and Ice or something.
Which is exactly why I think EB should be replaced with Tangled Depths.
What conclusion? You just made up an anecdote and somehow use that to verify your belief.
If you can post a video with the best condi players dueling on different classes while trading shamans/dire/tb and shamans win every time, sure you can conclude something and I will stand corrected.
In the meantime, we’ll just keep fighting in WvW where a vast amount of condi players goes for max condi dmg while being tanky as kitten. Because they can. And power cant (Warrior excepted because they are carried by their class, not the gear).
Some of these should go without saying, but here are some tips:
Run current anti-virus software on your computer.
Never enter your Anet credentials on any website that does not belong to Anet
USE A COMPLEX PASSWORD!
Use special characters (!@*&$) at least 2 of them
Use more than 8 characters total
Use upper and lower case letters
Use numbers as well.
If you follow that, the likelihood that your account would be compromised due to a dictionary based attack is very very slim.
Not only did the “hacker” have to get around using the correct password, but most likely anet sent the automated message to verify the new IP address that “you” were trying to connect from, so the hacker would also needed access to your email.

Simplistic password and the same password used for a lot of different accounts.
Keylogger virus
Using gold buying sites (most likely the common cause of a lot of “hacks”)
Indeed as above said, you only need long passwords, not neccessarily “complex” ones.
Like having a password “ohhowIadorecuteAsurananimationsofwigglyearsandstumpylegs” compared to “1Xk#3_hH” should be somewhat harder to brute force.

For WvW, the latest minimum spec is 7700K@5ghz, 32gb ram@3.4ghz+, 2x M.2 SSDs in raid0 and GTX1080Ti.
You could take away everything and only have red icons fight – I will still be able to identify 95% of drivers in seconds because they are exactly that, drivers.
Few if any of them apply tactics to confuse the enemy. Its push and bomb, push and bomb, maybe a fake push and then back to push and bomb.

No, I very much doubt it since you’ll probably either get my server sucks and everyone on it is an idiot or the enemy servers suck because we’re awesome and everyone else are idiots as replies.
yup we do and will not give up at all ,. you really should try out eso and wow for yourself and see the big difference. they are both free to play .
and Pretty much all reviews in the last 2 years means noting at all . not one thing at all!! what means something is when you go play that game for your own self . on your own comp and find out the real answers for your self . and not some ones hear say.

I am not going to spend 3 hours breaking a defended T3 tower.
This, right here, is why it’s so hard to get any agreement on what WvW should look like. There is literally nothing I look forward to more in WvW than a three hour assault on a keep, preferably Bay – unless it’s a three-hour defense.
When I was following GW2 before launch I read about WvW and thought it would be something I wouldn’t even bother to try. I didn’t like GW1’s PvP and I didn’t expect to enjoy it in GW2 either, not in small groups in sPvP or large ones in WvW. My wife, however, quickly got into WvW from the start so naturally I did give it a try and I found to my surprise that it wasn’t really “PvP” at all but more a game of tactics and strategy involving taking and holding structures.
That is very much more interesting to me than fighting other players directly has ever been and for the past four, heading to five, years I’ve had a lot of great times trying to attack or defend large stone buildings. Just last week, twice after work, I logged into WvW intending to do my dailies and leave and ended up involved in protracted keep sieges that used up my entire evening.
People on these forums often claim no-one enjoys fighting under heavy arrow cart fire or trying to break very heavily sieged keeps and towers but I absolutely love it. It’s easy to assume that players who jump on siege at the first opportunity only care about being the ones to use the " easy option" but I like fighting and overcoming siege engines every bit as much as as I like using them myself. I play a staff ele for a reason.
Anyway, it’s not about who’s right or who’s wrong. The problem is that WvW has been trying to be all things to all players for too long now and it isn’t working. I do seriously believe the whole game mode should be rethought and there should be a formal split between the tactical/strategic structure-based, territory holding, points scoring matchplay and the larger-scale, Guild vs Guild direct person-to-person PvP game. It’s not impossible for the two to go hand in hand but as populations harden and scores become less meaningful it’s becoming increasingly difficult for WvW to support both playstyles effectively.
The thing is, the WvW we knew and loved year one is not the WvW we have today. Not because of skirmish score experiments or OP HoT builds, but because of the severe upgrade creep.
T3 was once an achievement that took a long freaking time and fortifications where nowhere near as strong as they are today on top of that. We couldnt sit and wait out passive upgrades, we had to maintain supplies and heaven forbid there was an attack that drained supps. Speedy dollys didnt exist, keep claims with roflstomp tactivators didnt exist, all we had was our feet and hands.
Loosely and probably somewhat innacurate, you could describe as we used to spend 75% of the time fighting for an objective and 25% sieging it, but today we have to spend 75% of our time sieging it and 25% fighting for it. It gets tiresome.
Why on earth the crusader parts instead of simple to get cavalier? Just curious what the reasoning is there. The tiny little extra healing is irrelevant – you need 1000+ healing power to see any noticable gains from having any healing power at all.
Personally I would have gone celestial armor for such a hybrid, loose a little damage (200 power and 5% crit dmg) for survivability (get another 2K hp and some condi dmg, healing power, toughness)

The later, one day, maybe. The former, DX11 support, is pointless without what amounts to an engine replacement, so that’s not going to happen (or matter) at any stage.
PS: wouldn’t DX12 be the thing to ask for these days?
It would, the question would still be why. Pretty much all reviews in the last 2 years have shown DX12 to either give equal or lower/considerably lower performance, for absolutely zero visual gains. Yet people keep dragging it up like its the second coming of Christ for graphics engines.
Keep in mind that neither age of your account nor hours played have much to do with your odds of getting a precursor drop.
^^; While true, there is a correlation to time spent playing and precursor drop amount. At least meaningful playing… standing in LA or DR increase your hours but really wouldn’t help you find a pre. While spending time playing killing things looting does in theory give you more chances.

Personally I will still maintain that there are “lucky” and “unlucky” accounts – we’ve even seen proof of odd account behaviour where they get nowhere near the event participation of other accounts, they couldnt even get gold by soloing events start to finish. But it’s been brushed under the carpet and Anet would of course never admit that little “bug” ever existed.

Dawdler, I understood almost none of what you said. My original post, which I now realize I should have left, explained that I know nothing about computers and that my busy son told me to just look for something with GTX 1060, 1070 or 1080.
I definitely didn’t understand the first part of what you said but now know to look for 500 gb SSD.
If you or anyone else could give me specs to look for, that would be great. I am going to buy the computer by April and I am trying to keep it around $1500
Look, its real simple: a 128gb HDD is filled up in a jiffy. Its not enough. Windows get you down too 100gb, essential apps get you down to 60-80gb, a single AAA game is 30-60gb… see where I’m going?
After that, a 5400rpm “green” disc is chugging slow. If you dont need 2tb of storage and only plan on decently modest gaming (only a few big games) just a single 256gb is enough to bring that SSD up from pointlessly small to usable.
Anyway, 1070/1080 at $1500 or less is pretty much impossible. 1060 however should be doable at that limit. Asus/MSI up there with 256gb SSD + 1tb 7400rpm olddrive combo are a better compromise IMO.
Well they do say core i3, which is about as fast as a 7700K or 1800X in crapthreaded apps and if they state 256mb graphics I assume that works on lowest settings.

Fun fact: I once ran Morrowind on a Geforce 256 DDR 32mb (with a heatsink!!!).
Thats probably the worst HDD combo I can imagine. An SSD where half the space will be taken up by the OS and core applications so there is room for like 1-2 modern games and a hugekitten pointless drive thats slower than a glued down snail.
In a gaming rig today I consider a 500gb SSD minimum requirement (whatever remaining terabyte size space needed would be networked).

So we know the Ryzen 1700 performs well, and the 1800x even better. I’m betting once the SMT issues are fixed to allow the Cores proper access to their Threads we may see even better performance.
Right now I’m watching and debating…1700 or 1700x + ASRock x370 Taichi + 8-16G DDR4 and my RX470 should be a decent match up for the next 4-5 years…hopefully at least.
For the added cost and marginal mhz boosts, the 1800X and 1700X are completely pointless CPUs. You only need to OC a 1700 by 300mhz to reach 1800X level performance – and 1800X is unlikey to reach any higher with the 4ghz wall (unless you win the silicon lottery). Just bumping it a mere 100 or 200mhz to reach like 95% of the performance should be pretty much guaranteed.
You had me up until your second paragraph there. That’s just ridiculous. I hate stealth, but 3k range auto reveal from guards? That’s asinine levels of stealth hate.

No it’s perfectly in line with other objective reveals Anet has put in the game.
Tapping a keep really isnt a problem until you factor in a single class – thieves. Perma-stealth ghost thieves is what I would classify as taking it so far that yes, its an exploit. Sure nike warriors or druids etc can hit and run but you can still bring 5 peeps if needed and lock them down and kill them. Ghost thieves you never have enough time to kill because they will never be visible and by the time a guard or you steps in a trap, they are long gone even if they where next to you a couple secs earlier. Cant counter it, cant fight it. Bring reveal or stealth traps you say? Hahaha… Have fun covering an entire keep. And he will still be 10,000 distance away in 3 seconds once revealed and back shortly after in permastealth.
I think guards should automatically reveal all stealthers within 3K range. Problem solved. Mesmer, Thief, Druid it doesnt matter. They want to tag guards? They do it in the open.
I am sure there would be little difference fps-wise with an i7. There appears to be no reason to play GW2 with more than four cores.

I have no doubt that an i3 7300 or similar would have performed about as good.
But it really doesnt matter. Ryzen game performance is ok. It’s not great, but it’s ok.
People that try to “upgrade” from their 6600K@4.5ghz or something are just delusional – it’s a good upgrade if you are sitting on a kittenty FX, an i5 750 or an i3 2100 or whatever and have been eyeing a $300+ CPU. It’s an excellent price/performance choice if you’ve been thinking “man these 4 cores just isnt enough, I need a 6900K!” since you can get a 1700 + 1080Ti for about the same price.

what do you mean these days? In my experience thieves have always been overrepresented in throwing insults around, especially when they get ganked.
Am I the only one that think the commander tag should be a crafted unlock, just like HoT precursors? Require about the same amount of stuffs but also 500 freshwater pearls and 1000 maguuma lilies.
Try benchmarking LA in primetime (just stand on a few spots and look around, look at the bank, crafting stations, mystic forge, etc). Next to a full on 70vs70vs70 in SM, LA is generally what stresses the machine the most.
Well, consider the audience for these new chips. They’re designed to compete with expensive intel CPUs like the 6800k/6900k which are meant for multitasking like video editing, streaming, or virtual machines. Not necessarily gaming.

But yes, cheaper R5 will be interesting to see mostly because they shouldnt be that far behind R7 in gaming. Its really not a “true” 8 core, its 2 clusters of 4 cores with a comparably slow interface between the clusters, so threads talking between clusters is bad. If they can scare up the mhz on a single cluster to 4.5ghz it might be awesome… though I fear that hard wall at around 4ghz will hold them back.
I have never seen 65% of wvw players in desert BL it is more like 5% guys.
I don’t know how accurate wvwintel is. But if it’s accurate you a pretty wrong.
Kills are much lower than on alpine borderlands, but far away form 5%. It’s more like 50%.
Personally I like the desert borderlands.

Assumption #2: The numbers are decently accurate (though snapshot halfway through a matchup) and my kindergarten level math isnt quite as off as usual.

EU T1 – 4492 out of 33042 kills, or 14%
EU T2 – 8175 out of 40608 kills, or 20%
EU T3 – 7464 out of 37342 kills, or 20%
EU T4 – 5614 out of 23768 kills, or 23%
EU T5 – 7662 out of 31889 kills, or 24%
= An average 80% of the borderland WvW activity is going on the two ABLs.
That FX cpu is 5 years old and they already had lower multithread performance than equally old i5 series (along with crippled singlethread). There is nothing Anet can do to make it faster, sorry.
So 10 people clearly with a group comp takes out a disorganized pug group double their size and win and you complain?? Sounds normal to me. Also it is not a bug thay boons dont last between maps. That has always been the case
Even if its not normal, its exactly what “hardcore” WvWers have been crying that they should be able to do for years. Then when its anything other than power zerkers, they get a hissyfit. Hm. Guess WvW does have more in common in PvE than we think.
By the way, I don’t completely agree to what you say about siege. Don’t you think ABL has difficult spots too (trebs in one of the towers being the cheapest examples)?
Which is why ABL works for WvW.
Is your bay being trebbed by SW tower? Well then you need to attack SW tower. And you probably need to secure that camp as well. Scouts see everything going on here. This create a whole active battlezone in that corner of the map, both inside and outside the objectives.
On DBL, who cares about the camp or the tower. Bay is too far anyway. The tower cant siege bay, no need to secure it. Need to go past bay? Lol just go on top, no ones gonna see you. Or go next to the walls for that matter chances are no one gonna see you anyway due to clutter. A battlezone does not exist, not inside or outside the objectives.
