GW2 have competetive PvP and WvW, I have no doubt that this would make meta skills for racials. Race isnt supposed to matter. We dont need that.

In PvE theres nothing stopping you from selecting a racial skill anyway.

Well there would be no point in stealthing, you’re gonna hear those clicky shoes a mile away when the enemy zerg comes backstapping like fancy sirs in their tophats and tuxedos.

No but seriously, it does look a little funky. Going over the history on mos millenium, there was a skirmish 14:00-16:00 today when NSP won by 500 or so points, 8100 vs 7600 against SoS. But during that entire skirmish, SoS PPT was twice that of NSP… Denravi roughly matched the PPT of SoS (a little less) but came in far behind. Another skirmish 10-12 make no sense whatsoever unless NSP farmed you completely for 2 hours (while getting no PPT).

Well either that or I’m reading the logs incorrectly and mess up the times. Does mos millenium take into account tier upgrades? I honestly cant remember. Your overall PPT between all 3 servers look very low.

I dont know how you define the average or the scenario but assuming 5 targets just the passive AoE heal from an ele healbot will exceed the number you stated from a “good healer” and tbh, I dont consider anyone doing the eqvivalent of watching paint dry in the middle of combat to be a good healer.

here a clip of what tablet rev look like i havent done anything new i kinda stop playing tablet rev more or less.

But interm of avr healing number if your ele is above 2.4k a minute there a good healer.
rev is about 2.6k.

ele with standerd minstral set up cap up to 7k a minute. <- theory number only see in arrow cart number.

rev with stranded gear i run around 1400 healing power cap out around 6k pre minute.

Not quite sure what those numbers are? Even only single target that’s obviously nowhere near the healing of either class. An ele doing absolutely nothing will heal himself for 5 times that number in a minute. Did you mean a second?

I can post the entire calculation if you want. I did all of it when there was a discussion about heal rev in a guild I used to be in.

No need, as I said I never play rev myself so all I had was a pretty mediocre reference. Suppose I could slap together a cleric one and go try it out sometimes.

The problem with any rule based implementation of GvG as part of WvW – whether it be easy or hard – is that it goes against the principle of WvW. Meaning, the gameplay mode is what we make of it. All of us, together. We set the rules. When you start picking out 20 people to go fight against 20 other people in their own little instance, it’s no longer WvW. If it’s not observed in open WvW, it’s not going to be very fun for us together. There is no danger fighting in your own instance, no involvement, no excitement. You’re not part of the world anymore or the matchup.

If you want these types of instances then call it what it is because this antithesis to WvW already exist in the game. It’s Edge Of The Mists. Guilds can easily go there and have their GvGs in an instance that has next to zero impact on WvW.

^ main reason people do not like tablet rev over ele is rev is a lot harder to be effective healer at.

But that being said overall number ele and rev have no different healing total or DPS i say there a slight edge to con removal on ele but it very small.

Healer Rev has better cleanse and resistance application than Ele. It basically covers the base role of Revenant in WvW group – applying resistance – while outhealing Ele if played correctly.

Whats the theoretical max healing a rev can achieve, really? Just wondering, last time I saw someone talk about his impressive rev healing, it was at half the number of what an ele put out in the same time. Been lots of patches since though and I dont play rev so I’ve never tested it.

Hm, that is interesting. Afaik, the 600K/33% damage reduction is correct for T3 towers. 800K/50% damage reduction is supposed to be for T3 keeps.

If the latter is in effect for T3 towers on all borders then the game is kittened. No wonder balance get thrown out the window.

Sigh, the game was great for a week this summer… all objectives at T0-T1, PPT ranges within 120 for all three servers. Now we’re seeing PPT ranges of 200+ instead with impenetrable T3 objectives no one bother to capture or fight over, completely loosing game momentum.

Said it before, saying it again – this is what ruins WvW at its core. PPT increase per tier sucks and T3 sucks.

Uh, how is it not similar to masteries? The only difference is that you have to assign available points per character (which become totally pointless once you max it out). Regarding the GUI, of course its in the WvW panel. Thats where all the WvW stuff is. Just like PvP stuff is in the PvP panel.

If getting an exotic is a 0.1% chance at 0% MF, then at 300% MF… you have 0.4% chance.

So the odds of you getting one when you open that sweet loot chest is still practicly 0%.

Sorry wvw has hard-coded mechanics which allows veterans to obtain items which are gated behind tons of hours played. No such thing in any other game mode.

How odd, I was pretty certain I couldnt just craft entire ascended sets in a day without going through timegated crafting (or farm gold for half a year), or get ascended trinket without doing timegated guild missions or get timegated laurels.

I am also somewhat confused as to what all this HoT legendary crafting is about. It takes an hour or something to craft them, right? No world exploration or masteries needed I hope? Fantastic.

Also be right back while I go craft both the PvP backpack and fractal backpack even though having no experience in either area (one can do high level fractals with the 5 agony resist I have on a ring for some reason I presume).

A very early wish (I remember it being discussed on the forums) was for armor to dictate speed in very subtle manner while having more impact on the armor. So that for example a mesmer in heavy armor could go 23% max speed (swiftness up, but -10% from heavy) but also get like 400 extra base toughness and 200 extra base vitality, or something like that. That way you could make a choice.

But alas Anet decided to use funky class balance instead (and somewhat failed at it, warrior in heavy armor remain one of the fastest classes in the game).

Having just condi stat and expertise does not give you damage parity with a full berseker’s power build.
Condi builds still do 20% to 40% of their damage in power. Also most condi builds have on-crit traits making precision necessary.

For a condi build to get damage parity with berserker’s they need to have viper’s, which is a fully offensive stat allocation.

This is correct when you are looking at PvE and its insane 30K+ dps specs, but in WvW this all changes and balance is thrown out the window. You only need 2K dps to kill an average player in 5 to 10 seconds – the rest is just sustain. And thats when condi goes to extremes because condi builds doesnt need anything other than condi dmg to achieve such paltry figures, in fact it goes far beyond it. Even classes relying on precision like the engineer dont really need it to perform.

Small scale, large scale, same thing you know. Necros completely rule the meta, even the guardian lootstick is second base. Last time I got corrupted by a zerg I had 20K condi damage a second on me (plus every single other condition). We where like 10 people in garri lord room defending against 50+, I have no idea how they even got that much that fast (I didnt have many boons on me either). It just went pop and dead.

Anet obviously want this. So just give it up. Embrace the condis.

I wouldnt recommend even trying to imagine something like this. When it comes to WvW, every day is opposite day at the Anet office. Community want lower AC damage? Anet buffs AC damage. Community want to balance class X because its OP and class Y because its weak? Anet buffs class X and nerf class Y. Community want something usefull instead of Quaggans? Anet introduce bloodlust at so mindboggingly OP levels it leave people in chock – and then they repeat it with the laser on DBL. Community want more balanced scoring? Anet introduce tier based PPT that only empower the strong. Etc and so on.

This suggestion will probably only lead to score bonuses against the weakest server.

That remains an oxymoron since the outnumbered boon doesnt encourage particiption – everyone coming to participate means it’ll go away. And even then they wont participate in actual outmanned combat, they’ll AFK in spawn for the same benefits. I digress too.

This is a silly suggestion. Indeed, just make it so that if you swap borders you either simply loose the next tick or add a 2.5m cd (half a tick) on gaining pips after swapping borders (a 5m cd is totally redundant as its the same as saying no next tick, 2.5m is a compromise).

If the squad becomes full and properly built support class favor being in the squad than gankers then sure. Although I see no reason to kick them if it’s only half full.

Problem is not only kicking but if you put the druids in a group with the other rangers and thieves they won’t have access to other stab/resistance(from revs) than self. Which means they won’t be able to get in front line to heal with the water they provide.

To show numbers: with 500 healing power you are missing 4.5K direct healing plus the blasts.

Not possible if the druid is bounced from side to side with no possibility to escape because of the stun spamming crap is going on in this game.

Well the entire idea of this discussion is what would be the point of this coming from a ranger? Extra water? Hahaha… All the eles in the squad will already provide perma waterfields. And if you want better water fields from another fringe class that got far more stability to stand up in the frontline, bring a scrapper. Mobile waterfields without skipping a beat.

This is sort of the core issue when we are talking 50 mans. Some classes arent even considered secondary. The thief is the same. Is it a good ganker? For sure. Can you bring a thief instead of GREN? Well yeah of course… but you could bring a dps mesmer instead and dedicate just one skill to a veil, maybe in some situations a portal, in order to assist the zerg.

How often will all your 5 party members be within the radius of your boons, aside from guardian Empower? Probably near 0% of the time. Melee trains will barely run that tight. So you are probably giving your boons to plenty of other people. I bet having 6-7 man parties would have marginal impact.

Keep in mind that when Gandara goes hunting PPT, they will go mindnumbingly PPTing. They wont care about fights, they wont care about dying, they’ll just bash their heads against a keep/tower over and over until they either get it or they borderhop to find an undefended target.

Put one good commander against them and they wipe every time.

Edit: you can actually see this in the income graphs as well. Assuming the last period was yesterday night (since it stops at 15:00), FSP PPT at 03:00 was 106. At 05:00 when K/D topped out… it was 66.

Haha those glitches are just minor things…

The most amusing glitch that has occured in WvW was when the map join system completely broke down at one reset. Instead of joining your server, you joined a random server. It was chaos, lol. And yet, so much fun for one brief moment. We got to fight alongside enemies against friends.

Not too long ago there was a time when WvW decided to crash every tick, the entire border. We wanted a tower dangnabbit. We fought in the same lord room like 10 times, trying to race the timer before WvW crashed, lol. Such good times on TS, most laughs I have heard in a good time.

Then of course we had Golem Day… no not Golem Week haha. The siege system broke, no one could place ACs, rams, catas etc, only golems could be built. No choice then lol. Golem trains everywhere. It was really fun and illustrated so well how boring static siege was.

Or that time when Anet kittened up the Mesmer fall trait. Instead of it doing like… 100 damage… they accidentally added a couple of zeros. Mesmers just jumped from the walls and killed entire zergs lol.

Best solution for the topic would be to be able to re-activate the marks a second time to cause a manual detonation, so you can decide if you wanna use the damage to cleave the downed target as quickly as possible or use it as a means of zonecontroll to potentially damage the downed target and the person attempting to rezz.

For them to work like that it means they have to go on cd only when triggered the second time (that’s how Anet has made all such skills since the change to mesmer mantras and scrapper gyros etc).

That would totally nerf the staff in zerg ambush, siege defense or leading bomb situations since all necros would have full cooldowns when they pop rather than how it is now with no cooldown if you placed them ahead of time.

I like it! I agree with this change.

Nah thats just high damage. Powerful != dps in WvW. 100b? Weakest attack the warrior has. Meteor storm? Only used for zerging and even then its area denial more than damage as people just dodge out of it. Gravedigger? Lol who even use greatsword in WvW…

Powerful in WvW can be something as simple as Dark Pact locking your opponent a whooping 3s which is often a death sentence. Or in the case of the staff, probably the most powerfull anti-condi attack in the game dumping your conditions on the enemy.

They dont make more because i can buy gems with gold regardless of who bought gold or when just with a smaller ratio. In Fact i have gone the whole game completely free whereas if they had a traditional shop. They would have me paying reall money for their stuff on the gemstore. And if they were doing fine then we wouldnt have untested thing thrown in the game (not hating on anet just saying things how they are) and instead they would pay testers or a test server.

Yes because cash-cow games like say World Of Warcraft never had any bugs in it. Ever.

It doesnt matter that you are buying gems for gold – you are still playing the game. Your very presence make other people want to play the game. And eventually somewhere down the road, someone buys gems when playing the game, because they like it and its still populated. GW2 being 5 years old and still active is a huge testament to its strength, considering it was released at a time most MMOs didnt even last 5 months.

My humble opinion on WvW.

Barely do any damage? You can either run a full condi dmg build or just power. Both is enough to support the zerg. Staff fire does massive base damage in comparison to the damage many other classes would get by only using power.

While I agree with you, in that marks don’t need to be changed to trigger on the currently non triggerable, you did make me laugh when you said Necro Staff is one of the most powerful weapons in game. Useful? Yes. Powerful? No.

This topic is about WvW since OP is talking about siege and downed players. The necro is the second most common class with the most used and powerful ranged weapon in the game. Condi builds, roamers, well bombers, it doesnt matter as no one in the right mind will run without the staff, it’s so far off the table it’s unthinkable. It even have the guardian lootstick beat by far since that weapon is fairly useless for anything but large scale.

In PvE I’d agree with you.

Either way there are few weapons that doesnt have flaws. Melee weapons is melee. 600 or 900 range instead of 1200 range is common, but instead their attacks do AoE or condis or whatever. Short distances for secondary AoE skills. Long cooldowns. Other things like that to keep it balanced. The staff has literally no flaws except for the marks not triggering on downed and possibly the autoattack not instakilling everything it touches. Hell you dont even have to suffer projectile travel time on the marks. If my engineer pistols had that advantage on one of it’s attacks I’d jump in joy. Instead we got a kittenty immobilize that last a second if lucky with a projectile that travels about as fast as an immobilized necro and will hit the targetted area 5 seconds after whoever was there has already ran away. Also it’s 700 range for some inexplicable reason that defies logic.

Yet people complain about the necro staff not being able to trigger on downed people…

I am not sure you understand. If I am on my necromancer and use my staff to down an enemy player, I am then unable to use 4 out 5 skills on my weapon, no other class/weapon has this handicap. Are you saying I should waste a weapon swap, or life force along with the cooldown on death shroud just to finish an enemy player? That makes little sense.

Also I did not ask about changing the radius, range or target limit.

It doesnt matter that you didnt ask about changing the radius, range or target limit – you asked about changing the functionality of the weapon. Which is the same darn thing.

So for example if a warrior need to hit something at 1200 range with his greatsword, he need to waste a weapon swap? Gasp! What horror!

The necro staff is a utility weapon among the necros three weapon swaps (weapon 1, weapon 2 and DS). It’s by far one of the most powerful weapons in the game that has one tiny little flaw… which you want to remove.

But yeah I could agree with it if you change the max range a mark could be put to 600 instead, to offset the ability to now be able to trigger on downed people. Decent compromise, yes?

If you just want 1vs anything, power thief played well with lots of cleansing and all the insta teleports in the world on 0s cd is the cheesiest class available. Found something dangerous? NP, be 10,000 distance away in 2 seconds like the coward all thieves are.

There are cheesier builds (confusion chrono, poison thief) but their effectivness drop considerably if the foes bring cleanses (or a necro).

Ah but the difference is that a keep can be a combat zone.

Unless Anet want a representative in everyones home holding their hand while playing, they cant stop all AFK. But they can easily stop it in safe zones.

Well the obvious question… what are you fighting? Cause druids have 40% speed.

Druids have 33% speed…

I was certain that trait boosted it even further. Hm, guess I hallucinated that.

Either way, they got 50% speed instead (for 8s) and then of course thieves got 50% speed in stealth. A full gyro scrapper can achieve lengthy 100% speed too.

I’m not sure something like Flames of Kryta would be desirable. Having to drop the light source to fight in the dark, then open inventory to see again might not be best.

It is, sometimes, difficult to distinguish day from night (not to mention dusk/dawn) in-game.

Why does everyone get hung up on the silly flames of kryta? We got freakin magic and technology.

A light drone that follow you around or a ball of light hovering above your head. A skritt mini with a torch running around next to you. Or a backpack with a quaggan that light some fireworks and shoot it up every second to light the area, whatever. They could literally build that into the game and make a new gemstore/skin item (the basic ones is free as usual).

They did give a public reply and the answer is they have no bloody clue what the issue is. They know it exist but they dont know why. We cant help them either – it happens on random with no apparent trigger. There’s nothing we can check on our end and there is no known solution other than to relog/change zone.

The only thing I know is that it seems to be far more common on certain classes such as the mesmer and revenant. It is believed to be related to animations and I’m thinking teleport skills more specifically. But it’s not only that since it happen to all classes anyway.

Waaaaaaaaaaay to easy to exploit if this is open world…

Not quite sure how that would work. If you only did 20% damage and you only get 20% of the reward, other peoples presence makes virtually no difference. The most they could do is give buffs/debuffs to increase your contribution, but keep in mind you’re still going to have to do all that damage, so it wouldn’t be a huge amount.

You kill lets say 1 mob every minute (100% kill) for 1000 xp…

With the help of a friend you kill 10 mobs every minute (20% kills) for 2000 xp.

Its not hard to figure out what would happen. Thats why its called farming.

Reset WvW Ability Points [Request]

Guys stop looking down on newer players. It makes sense that they have the ability to reset the points for some kind of cost. Being able to reset on the fly is kind of a bad idea though since it allows people to just open their menu and choose what they need per the situation.

Allowing a reset every 100 ranks or having some kind of timegate or cost to resetting is a very fair request.

No, we’re stating facts because we’ve been there. At least now he has thousands of players that can tell him what to pick – when we ranked up we had no idea what to pick. We didnt even know what most of the abilities did, or how good they would be in combat. I personally made many choices that I regretted and had to farm ranks to pick the “correct” one after picking the “wrong” one.

I dont consider it a fair request any more than I would expect to be given 100 agony resist for free when entering Fractals because I am a “new” Fractal player.

The request was for a cost. Just like it would cost you for that 100 AR that if you had the gold, you could buy.

He’s not asking for free ranks.

Maybe a one time reset at rank 250, or 100, and charge like 100 BoH charge or something.

It shouldn’t be indefinite, and shouldn’t be multiple.

But still… why?
