It’s been said over and over on the forums. Dire + perplexity/torment + stealth/mobility = lol u dead.

The big thing about condition builds are that they create a HUGE game of rock, paper, scissors. Which I for one despise about the game. The meta builds should be brought down to balance. Which this balance patch seems to have just shifted and created a few more.

Burning Speed: This skill now evades attacks. <—- even when the dev’s first announced this on twitch I said, “wth are you thinking?” Must revert this as it’s way to high of damage attack and a gap closer to have an evade. There has to be a cost to using it.

I think they decided to up the “challenge” of the game globally. Seems DPS nerf was only a part of it. IDK, the game just doesn’t feel right after patch. No matter the profession or where we’re playing. Whatever it is, my appreciation for it is dwindling.

The only people I ever herd getting flamed were those few individuals specifically going out of their way to derail the train. Which is basically grieving the larger group of players.

Anet has stated many times that Guild resources are NEVER going to be rolled back (or restored) for any reason.

I didn’t know Guild vaults can’t be restored. WTH, I keep most of my resources in my Guild vault. You know, with the word “vault” in it’s name, it should be more secured. That is secured from Anet’s on a technical level. If it glitches and somehow everything is gone, I expect it to be restored. For someone physically removing items, I don’t expect Anet to be able to discern whom is in the right to do so.

1st week – BG double teams TC with JQ most of the week (not all but most)
2nd week – BG double teams TC with SoS the entire week
3rd week – BG seems mad they are getting double teamed continuously.

There is absolutely no benefit in not double teaming BG considering their coverage. If any server wants to place higher, they need to keep them down due to their coverage. The funny thing is, considering all the double teaming that was going on in TC during the 1st 2 weeks, they were never in the same predicament BG is in now. At least they could still control chunks of the map (congrats TC).

The way Anet has it layed out in the swiss style format, if this continues (which it probably will), BG will come in 4th or 5th (most likely 5th). It would be to the other servers benefit to keep them that way if they want to place higher.

My advice to BG if you don’t want it to continue:

A) De-stack your servers (aka) whatever guilds transferred there, leave
B) Don’t blob the map, (aka) don’t run in any numbers greater than 50.

Not doing both of those gives other servers perfect reason to double team and keep you pushed down in 3rd.

I used toon all the time and prefer it. Toon also predates MMO’s. I dislike alt and really dislike char. Especially when we have Charr in game.

A pet peeve of mine in when people refer to the gear stat PTV as “PVT”. Seriously, it’s not in the correct order in the game, it’s not in alphabetical order, and it doesn’t even sound better.

You mean blame Dungeons as they are the highest gold creators in game. Champ trains and Living Story create items above all. Which those items either get consumed or placed on the TP. Dunegons > all other gold generation.

This is correct but, this method is already in use today. Thus, how much of JS’s data is skewed? When one looks at Legendary or Precursor transactions, how many of those unique players are actually the same physically person? That kind of data is not possible.

Is an incentive to buy another account a good thing? Would limiting a players capacity to earn gold off the TP be an incentive to spend real currency on gems? People keep asking for proof of wealth being a problem. Well, if a player keeps consuming the game and never reciprocates by spending real money, wouldn’t that a bad thing?

Along the lines of the “prove something is wrong” conversation, how do we know things couldn’t be better? There is no data to prove either sides opinion is correct or the best because it’s never been tested. Maybe neither side would actually be the best and a cycling of the two would work better?

I’m going to go with the age old idiom, “You never know until you try.”

  2. For the punishing wealth discussion, I’ve never seen a study stating the consolidation of wealth, power, or influence as being a “good thing” for any ecosystem or social grouping. In many aspects, diversity and balance, is paramount to health.
  1. I am pretty sure,if every player went to that spot, farmed their daily need of 40 linen
    and would have left, Anet wouldnt have had a problem with it. But people did it multiple hours per day, not to get Linen but to get gold.
  2. Nobody here ever claimed that the (assumed) wealth disparity in GW2 is a good thing. If wealth disparity really exists in this game, it still might have minimal impact. John asked for prove/arguements why it presumably a bad thing.

For the linen, yes I would agree with your assessment. Just last night I went there to get my linen for Damask. Nothing went on the TP as it was only for personal use. Though I was the only person there. Most are still afraid of the area due to the mishandling of the bans there.

I’m not following. Please state why this is.

Ones desires are highly influenced by the desires, behaviors, and possessions of others. It mostly stems from wanting to fit in, to stand out, and/or not wanting to be left out. I know it seems irrelevant in an economic discussion but, an economy and the emotional state of those in it are intertwined.

Which is something I’ll add about the “are rich bad for the economy” discussion. Player perception isn’t easily quantifiable in TP prices. It’s not like anyone is polling player opinions really. Put out a poll with scaling, asking if players feel traders are good. If the majority believe they are not, then you have a problem brewing.

The issue I would dread most, if I were a developer, would be a player experiencing a feeling of futility. A grinding sensation can lead a player to a feeling of futility. Knowledge of a wealth gap could certainly exacerbate such a feeling too. So maybe a better question is, do the wealthy traders generate good or bad feeling amongst players?

Flippers increase liquidity and bring prices closer to equilibrium, almost always lowering prices and providing preferences to other players. I see no reason why anyone would want to stop that.

I’ll take shot at this. Fore what point of “equilibrium” do you feel is just per item? You, John Smith, are setting the available supply chain and influencing demand by setting the volumes required for crating, no? As such, you are then greatly influencing the subsequent price point. Linen and silk prices are what they are today because of the developers choices much more than the players. Even when players found a readily available supply chain of Linen, the developers quickly modified it to generate less. Essentially, we’re playing to your price points, right? Commodity brokers simply supply a cache of supply to help keep fluctuations nominal.

For those whom blame champ trains as the root of all evil, I’d challenge that opinion highly. A player running dungeons creates gold far faster than when running a champion train. Even the Queens Jubilee, in my best estimation, more gold was created from the Arena than the champ train running below it. At least the train actually increase the supply of some goods and materials which lowers prices.

In contrast to champ trains, dungeons create far more gold than items. Thus running Dungeons would increase prices due to the extra supply of gold in the economy.

Flipping does not increase supply though act as a gold sink which should lessen prices. Though, the act of flipping affects the perception of value. Which can certainly increase limited item prices.

With all that said, let’s get to the behavioral incentives/disincentives. For players running the trains, I say leave them alone. Dungeons gold generation should be reduced as they are too lucrative from a less social mode of play. For TP flipping, well, it is an extremely solitary play style. Maybe there should be incentives to get out in the world more. Bringing it back to the original topic of TP taxes. Would the game be better off if people spent less time idle while playing the TP, it’s certainly possible.

I’ve spent the time to read so many of these post, that I don’t have the time for a proper response. Though I can quickly say this, I do believe a portion of player’s are left with a general sense of wanting in the game. It’s the sensation of angst over grinding comes from. I do not believe this comes from our fellow players as much as it’s a general design philosophy of the game. It’s to encourage the use of the gem store.

Speaking of the gem store, anyone see that reddit post about GW2 having an average monthly revenue per user of $3.88? I’m averaging way more than $3.88 per month and still don’t have a single Legendary! Though I have 17 characters and GG alts cost a lot.

Off topic, to think of all the ascended gear we’ll now have duplicates of… ouch! Can we get a one time ascended gear stat reselect please?

Why do these threads keep popping up?

Evidently, a group of players are not as happy as can be with the present state of the game. Also, many are anticipating what the soon to come changes will bring to the game. There’s also a group that would like a more direct and stream lined form of combat. While others want a very complex and frenetic form of combat. In the end, most everyone is just trying to protect and augment their special way of playing.

Many could also be on a preemptive basis. Making sure the Dev’s know some players would not welcome new conditions or a condition meta, in general.

To me, conditions should have stayed in the realm of debuff’s and the big word “control”. As soon as the dev’s ventured deeply into conditions as another form of damage, they created an imbalance. We should have a passive form of reduction just as our armor does for power damage. Dire stats are WAY more powerful than PTV gear as well. Showing the imbalances between power vs. condition damage.

For balancing, WvW needs to be the top priority. As that’s where everything scales up, showing imbalances far easier than in s/tPvP.

You’re forgetting runes, sigils, and venoms. So it’s mash utilities, then 111111. Maybe tossing in a weapon swap at the start and including thieves guild for giggles. Which you can all macro together.

Conditions need to ignore armor and be able to be a primary damage source (for characters, not groups) in order to have a healthy competitive environment.

For example, a P/D thief can 1111111 and win most encounters already. How is that healthy or skillful? If power builds are getting toned down, then condition builds need to be toned down too.

I would not like WvW to become a full condition meta. It’s already there in small groups.

Using conditions as group modifiers is one thing. Conditions as a main source of damage is completely different. If Conditions are going to become that strong, we need armor to reduce them.
