Anet’s reply, “You can buy more gold in the Gem Store!”.
…. my reply is, “yes, precursor’s are one of the biggest issues with this game.” Instant lottery wealth for some, soul sucking void for others." And yes, for the thousands of hours I’ve played, never have I had one drop. Nor do I have a single legendary because of it.
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
Maybe it’s just me but, there shouldn’t be any reward at Boss Blitz for those that don’t give a donation first. It would take care of the auto attackers there too.
Anyone else think it should be this way?
Hero’s Band and Polla in the gem store please?
Diamond Skin say’s, “hi”
Kodans!!!!! And have them exactly as the EotM Forge transform is. THAT is some fun right there.
No its not. I have a new character thats level 33 now. Only played it for about 3 evenings and used no tomes or boosters. If leveling were any easier it would be pathetic.
He’s not talking about leveling. He’s talking about acquiring traits. It’s amazing how many people don’t understand this.
Then he should change the title.
Or, you could read his post first and see what he actually meant
btw… yes, the new trait acquisition sucks. It’s a really harsh gold sink for new accounts.
OP, this is why the Dev’s shouldn’t listen to players so much.
Also, what is with all this whine lately about easy/difficulty and if players are good or not? The concept of a video game is first and foremost to have FUN! You aren’t supposed to be gaining self worth from it. So who cares how good you are in it? The important part is having fun! And, there is no fun to be had by having death penalties.
It’s like players asking for harder content like Liadri. After beating I had a big “Kitten u” sensation too. Though that lasted for all of about two minutes. It’s not worth the hour of annoyance and not having fun to do it. It was a net loss of fun!
This is why people voted for Kiel. The lure of cheaper WP costs was just too much for a majority of the population to ignore.
Or, we just voted for the Hero and not the villian. To the OP, no…. there are too many way’s to earn gold that have no AP associated to them. Meanwhile, AP is associated with actually playing the game. Which has inherent gold sinks.
Wait for Boom Boom to call it. Rushing it is simply a waste. Also, it’s teaching players bad habits.
If you are stuck on silver, go drop a tray of food. Can’t express how annoying it is to see most players running around dry with no food, utilities, or potions.
I wonder if consolidating those would make sense.
Having consistent rules in game would make the most sense
As well as this the queensdale train was a huge problem for the state of the game as new players who have just created their character not only saw constant toxicity in the mapchat from the sheep but they got sucked into thinking that following a mindless train zerg was how the game was meant to be played and failed to actually explore the rest of the world.
/thread.
The only time QD train became heated was when someone was actively and quite purposefully antagonizing it. Kind of like the terms you are using against your fellow players in this thread. And, to even mention EotM and use PvE as some derogatory term too??? Sounds like you just don’t like seeing others have fun or be rewarded in game.
The dev’s would be wise to leave EotM alone and stop antagonizing the majority of their customers. Attempting to force players into playing in a fashion they do not wish to is not a good idea. There’s a big difference in encouraging and forcing. The dev’s should be mindful of it.

I really hate inconsistency.
Just the other day I made a thread about “punishing content” with a video link. Immediately I got barked at about how everything is too easy (not the point) and it’s all very consistent. I’m happy to see others are seeing the inconsistencies as I have. Because having inconsistent rules was one of the key components in creating punishing content. Which I don’t like inconsistency either. As someone whom uses a Mesmer often, I expect my skills and utilities to work.
nevermind how much gold it costs to buy these. they cost 83% as much as a new booster. meaning it is almost the same price to just buy a new exp booster as it is to turn a mf booster into a exp booster (and you’d end up with 2 boosters instead of 1). saving space is also moot, as deleting the first booster then buying the one you want costs almost the same price as a powder.
overpriced.
Where are you getting this “price” from? As the Black Lion Armor vendor is not selling them yet. Should you be buying keys for these, no. It’s a nice bonus when you do open a chest though.
Or just jump in some water.
This is so diabolical, thieves hate water.
We do? <flashes venomous grin>
:)
I don’t mind bunker builds which result in a no one loses outcome. If I were to add anything, it’s that power creep is still an issue. A lot of which does come from boons. Strength Runes are certainly one cause of it now. If it was easy to strip might stacks, I’d say otherwise.
An Ele’s “Diamond Skin” is pretty messed up trait and it should be reworked. Maybe only active while sitting in Earth or something else.
PU Mesmer builds really should go bye bye. Make a Mesmer choose either PU or clones on Dodge traits, not both. Even with having several Mesmer’s I’ve never went down that dark path of cheesy.
the most op stealth roamer spec?
2 killshot warriors, 2 shadow refuge thieves, 1 ice bow ele.
Shadow Refuge + Deeeeep Freeezze + Killshot = ded players.
That’s just cold!
…. See what I did there????
If a thief has access to burning, then I’d call it a condi bomb. Ah’ fire fields, do I love finding you so…
As it is now, P/D shouldn’t be called a condi bomb. I’d never waste all my initiative to pressure someone that hard for it to be considered a “bomb”.
Completely agreeing with the OP. Not of those BS numbers in particular, that of the general design ratio of offense vs defense has gone too far toward offensive damage. They pulled back on crit damage only to replace it with runes. Power creep is still quite present and needs to be dealt with. Fights should last more than a few seconds.
Am I the only one who uses stealth trap?
Or maybe skill 4 on arrow cart?
Still saving ranks to get AC #4. It’s not that cheap nor on the priority list. But, it is still a good suggestion though!
Yes, corpses should be moveable, beatable, and damageable. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a single person rezz a dead player while under constant AC fire. Even on a RP front, the capacity to do so just seems wrong.
I’m only going to assume, something went wrong with the world association mechanism. Which wouldn’t even had been needed if players didn’t “tag” T1 servers at the beginning of S1. Can’t tell you how many came to JQ and left within 48hrs of S1 opening. Anyway, I assume it’s that because its complex and players have already posted screen shots of incorrect placings in the achievement panel. I also say it because my newest acct that was bought during the season received not only the reward but, the correct reward value. My older accounts received nothing. None of my accounts have received the finisher in mail either. Nor have I heard of anyone getting one yet. If it is the world association mechanism, they are going to have a lot of data to sift thru to sort it out. GG, there is little chance of doing it manually for millions of accts. So I’ll be patient for a bit on this.
I don’t know how others use there contact list but, mine is getting a bit unmanageable. I play a lot of content with a lot of different players and guilds. It’d be great to be able to sort and manage them all. Right now I set nicknames but, it’s not sortable. Thus, I was thinking it would be great to be able to create and customize folders in our contact list?
Another would be to increase our ability to join guilds from 5 to 10. When you have guilds forming just for specific content, including Living Story, it would make life easier in game too.
Anet probably monitors global supply of items (yes they look in our banks). More than likely they see a stock pile of boosters that aren’t being used. This is a great way to clean up bank space and get rid of all those old boosters. Who knows, maybe one day they’ll get rid of the individual boosters and just sell the two enchanted. The only down side I know of at the moment is to not convert XP boosters. We need XP boosters to craft Improved Experience Boosters. And yes, you can stack Improved XP, XP, and Laurel XP boosters.
It cannot be simply toggled PvE people since you need to be able to see what weapons are at disposal to an engineer you PvP with and against.
Still the largest bullkitten excuse in the history of this game. Unless it’s a full height Norn or Char wielding a single handed weapon, you pretty much can’t see what an opponent is wielding until they hit you with it. Forget it if they are an Asura as they are just a couple of pixels on my screen. Also, I’ll happily point out to anyone that PvE/WvW > PvP. We pay the bills and should get the proper return.
#NoHobo2014
#NoHobo2014 <—-We’re already going on 6 months into the year. I want no kit or back pack at all. I want to use Wings or any of the other nice back items all the other professions get to use.
From my point of view, it like some dev’s say’s “Oh noes… they broke out of the map!” and has a complete fit. As if exploring and breaking out of the map actually harms anything in game??? Breaking out of the map is actually something FUN to do!
Pride in a title???? pfft… lol
This person knows how to use a title
Yeah, I use titles on my characters that suit them from an RP perspective.
Human Female Mesmer – “Chosen”. She’s a descendent of my GW1 Ascalonian Warrior, so that made sense to me.
Norn Female Ranger – “Wurm’s Bane”. She’s a Norn hunter. ’Nuff said.
Asura Male Elementalist – “Honors in Applied Jumping”. Seems fitting due to their academic-style society.
Charr Male Warrior – “The Blazing Light”. He used to have “Flameseeker”, and I honestly might go back to it, seeing as he does wield mostly flame-themed equipment.
Sylvari Female Necromancer – “The Sunbringer”. As a chipper, Dawn cycle Sylvari, it was the perfect title for her. XD
Oh, and my Guardian mule has “Volunteer”. XD
About the new boosters, can we stack them if we pick different buffs? As we presently could with the individual boosters? At least it saves a whole row in our banks
- Add blood. Make the fantasy world of GW2 as dark as the concept art and not the goody two shoes we currently have. Appeal to adults with money and not 10 year olds!
I absolutely disagree. The muddy tones and darkness of most zones is already holding the game back. The art direction of this game is very narrow of view. You want the game to thrive it needs to be wider and appeal to more players. Anet should be making the game more dynamic by adding cleaner and more vivid Fantasy zones. Of which there are zero right now. The only nice zone in game was Queensdale. Of course they slapped a GTFO sign on it now. And blood, umm… that adds nothing. This isn’t some trashy hbo series.
The only thing I agree with is housing. Also, a progression system added to it so we can customize and build it up.
Hi,
I’m sitting about 50g now and want to buy some gems. But I refuse to buy them when I get less than 100 gems for each 10g. Last night it would just not get to that level. For my 50, it was 490, 497, 495… etc and never above 500.
So, get off your Duff and buy some gems with cash so that I get above 50 for my 50g.
Please.
Or, you could actually support the game and buy gems with cash!
So basically, this whole concept of removing food buffs, appears to be around a feeling of they are naggy and costly??? For those that aren’t using them, you are wasting the time of every other player you are running with. Any food is an improvement and tray’s last an hr long. If you can’t click on something once an hr, it’s not a game design issue.
Earlier today I even suggested on another thread to not update the reward vendor tomorrow. Glad to see a level headed adult made a good call over at Anet.
How about NOT even releasing the Mistforge NPC _until this is sorted out??? Just don’t even update our clients until this is all settled.
“_” was for kitten filter bypassing
I have multiple accts on JQ. All of them I have finished the meta on. The Elder accts incorrectly states 2nd place for S2. I finished the meta within the first month and have no rewards yet for either.
What’s interesting to me is the baby acct that’s only 50 days old received the reward chest right away when logging in on Friday after reset. I also only finished the Meta on Friday morning too. Maybe age has something to do with the bug?
I also just realized I never received a finisher on either accts for S1 :/ #whatever
;)
People complained that megaservers prevented them from playing with guild members and people from their own worlds.
Now people are complaining that there are no EotM-like megaservers for events like these to consolidate the population that’s spread throughout the world servers (and timezones) and to make queuing possible. Make up your own minds people. XD
OK, maybe the option to join either a world server map instance or a megaserver map instance would be nice.
I don’t even know what you are or they are trying to say. The Pavillion is certainly a Mega Server zone. We’re all lumped together. The only thing people are doing is hoping between the number of zones available. If it’s 6, 9, or 10 total instances no one knows but, Anet.
Same for me, no chest. It is the weekend so most likely no one is there to work on this bug. I have hope it’ll get all sorted by Tuesday.
Also, where our finisher!
I think you all need to pay more attention to that video. Look at existing and preexisting content, then look at the differences to Boss Blitz. Hence, why the video is a perfect fit for this. I don’t care what you want or if you like Boss Blitz or not, that’s irrelevant to the discussion.
I haven’t had the time during the WvW season to really try “Boss Blitz”. I’ve been trying it out today and thought I’d leave this link as a reminder to the Dev’s. Punishing content isn’t good content.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. There does, indeed, appear to be an issue with the Applied Fortitude Buff and Scaling. We’re investigating.
Uplevels are horribly outmatched as it is. Work on that scaling too please??? Especially levels 30-60 with 50-60 being the worst. As bad as uplevels were, the alterations made to traits tanked them really hard. As someone who’s just levels 3 characters the past month, I can tell you there a difference.
I think if they separated armor pieces into viewable zones, it would help a lot. Say being able to toggle on/off the sleeves or skirt from existing armors. Even better, just remove the race and profession restrictions completely. This way we could mix and match without Anet having to make new pieces. Even if they had to remake existing ones to fix clipping, it wouldn’t be as much work as coming up with brand new armor.
And yes, we need more! I have only 5 looks I use across all professions.
Been asking for this since a week after launch! Z-axis control would be a HUGE QoL improvement.
Recent updates clearly state we are not allowed to farm. So I will post my best farm as of now. It’s boring, it’s tedious, but It is rewarding.
Oh my god you people are melodramatic. No you can farm, ANet just doesn’t like farmer messing up other peoples introductory experiences to the game. Lets face it the Queensdale train didn’t consist of the nicest people, and a new bright eyed player stepping into the world shouldn’t be subjected to that bs. Go join the train in one of the higher level zones.
Champ trains and Farming are two different things, fyi.
Types of prestige
There are several types of prestige,-“I was there prestige”: These are attendance rewards usually with some also having to be earned, they show you played back then or that you participated in a limited time event. Most living story skins used to fall into this category. Is destroyed by re-releasing the item by any means as the statement is no longer valid.
-“Skill prestige”: These would be items such as the tribulation mode weapons and Liadri they not only require you to play a certain activity but to do it to a high level of skill. Care has to be taken with these as power creep or an exploit can wipe out all their value in an instant.
- “Investment prestige”: These are items that take a large amount of resources be it time or money to complete and make a general statement about your playtime and choice of activity. Is wrecked by deflation/inflation or awarding of a previously high investment item for a low investment activity.
Requoted because relevant. All three types of these should exist to allow players with different goals and styles of play to acquire items with prestige.
Pointing out it was the “Special Snowflakes” whom complained about the Champ trains to begin with. Snowflakes are against any content where others can obtain items or have fun in general. Prestige is just a form of selfishness from our ego’s. That attitude really isn’t good for an MMO. You want to know what really gives you any form of Prestige, your actions in game. You consistently do well, treat others well, and people will start to remember you.
See, this just proves the complaints about Qd were mostly outrageously exaggerated nonsense. There hasn’t been one for 3 days and the OP didn’t even notice it’s gone. Yet, still comes on here to complain about nothing.
Anyone try running an uplevel in scaled areas since the “big” update? Level scaling appears to be woefully inadequate since the trait system changes. I’m running a character in EotM with on level gear and the stats are pitiful. The reporting is also very buggy and changes on it’s own. Case in point, I swap a power rune for a toughness rune, you’d think my power would go down, right? Nope, power increased over 200 points!
I don’t know what happened but, please Dev’s fix uplevel scaling. Also, adjust it to make it better balanced.
May I poor some salt on that wound for you? The Mystic Forge recipe to create blade shards uses 50 Watchwork Sprockets. At the present buy order pricing on the TP, that places the value of Blade Shards around 6-10 silver. Meaning, those 100 blade shards being used have an equivalent value of 6-10 gold. So for 6-10 gold you are getting a green in return. FANTASTIC right????

I give this update 2/10², the Dev’s should have known better. No less, they put this out while Season 2 of WvW is nearing the end.
This game is much more fun, and is truly growing in the amount of people playing.
I think a lot of us would disagree with you on this. The player population has been on a steady decline. Most of the “new” players are really “old” players buying additional accounts. If it “feels” like more people are around you, it’s because our worlds have been consolidated.
It’s not that easy and still extremely annoying. I think I blew through 25 times on my warrior just now. It’s still a highly variable and not really skill based. It’s just luck of the draw and build based.
The event is the same every single time.
How does that make it luck based?
The orientation of the Shadowfall’s and Cosmic Rift’s to you and themselves have a set of variables. I’m also not thrilled with the poor visual representation of the Shadowfall boundaries and Vision of Mortality hit range. I’ve lost several times due to moving in whats visually in the clear and yet being hit by both. If anything, the visual representation should span beyond the attack radius, not less than it. Whether it’s lag or not, it’s pretty poor.
