Congrat’s on finding an exploit! Especially since EotM has been online for a while now. Seriously, that’s some out of the box thinking you had to do this.
I’m guessing this is one of those things the Dev’s wished you emailed in instead of posting. No doubt people are going to troll EotM with this until it’s fixed. Allowing that form to be feared would be an easy fix.
Necro —> Engi-—> Thief —- > Mesmer. (Warrior/Ranger)
Mesmer, though extremely effective, I’m putting in 4th because it’s a very narrow build set.
Here’s a theory. Maybe they are trying to make it harder for hackers to bot and abuse harvesting. *I remember hearing people say they would see players just appear right next to nodes, mine it, then vanish (not sure how this is possible, but I’ve heard it reported). *
Ummm…. considering most nodes respawn in an hr, you’d just leave your character at a node. Thus, when you relog to that alt, pop…. there you are next to that node. You gather it and leave again. Besides, the lead developer said he used a node website everyday and it was boring to him. So those of us whom didn’t use them, got shafted for it.
Either way, this Mega Server is certainly a nerf economically. I haven’t gathered at all since it hit. It’s just not worth the aggravation to hunt down nodes, only to have them change within minutes. To be honest, gathering never made much sense when irl, we have this industry called FARMING! There’s not one Tyrian smart enough to plant a seed?? GG
Yes, run around in the wilderness was peaceful in some zones and a nice thing to do. Now that wilderness feeling is gone due to the Mega Server piling people into a zone.

HOLY KITTEN! I had no clue it was like this for WvW Armor too. Karma armor is one thing but, WvW too. I have at least 3 characters with Traveler’s and Bloodlust Sigils that are locked!!! Here I’ve been busting my hump to build Ascended gear, now I have to buy all the runes and sigils too????
Seriously, this is completely rage inducing. I’d uninstall before I buy a minimum of $70 worth of upgrade extractors. Just to lock up the same sigils and runes again??? This is now the most alt unfriendly system in game. At the very least, Black Lion Salvage kits should work on this armor and Ascended gear too. Especially when a lot of the changing is only required because the dev’s changed runes and sigils.
See, maybe it just comes from being older but, I know how to not support the Lottery dyes. I don’t purchase gems, with cash or gold, to buy RNG dyes from the gems store . I do not buy gems, to convert to gold, to buy RNG dyes off the Trading Post. I do not buy RNG dyes at all.
If someone really wanted change, then they’d stop supporting it entirely. No matter how snazzy a dye maybe, it’s easy to do without.
The general question is, as someone so nicely asked on another thread is, “Where’s my Guild and friends?”
My snarky reply was:
Irrelevant request player XY111014.
/end of line
Which pretty much sums up how some players are feeling, as just a number. I don’t know how the game is layering us into zones but, it certainly appears flawed. Maybe if one person way points into a zone at a time it’ll help, who knows?
I think the Dev’s should make a second WvW Citadel as it’s own map in the mist. A place where only our own server mates can go. A staging area for going into WvW that doesn’t affect the map queues. If it were like the PvP Mist where we could test out builds, even better! Though Worlds should have at least ONE non combat place to go!!!!
Want more dailies PLEASE???? I just spent an hr in sPvP and it didn’t even count toward the dailies. No “player kills” nor “matches played” at all. Please don’t tell me we have to go into an arena match for those? Because I have a firm response to being coerced in Arenas, KITTEN THAT Quaggan patty!!!!!!
More PvE dailies please?
Wow, that’s really over thinking it. Just make Pins dyeable as we have plenty of colors available. That’s all we need to have a great QoL improvement in WvW.
where’s my Guild and friends?
Irrelevant request player XY111014.
/end of line
I usually wait at troll and pop banners there when I remember to because there are new players in that area constantly
See, that’s the reason to avoid the area. A few players complain on here constantly about the Qd train. Even though they are by far the minority, they complain loudly. Thus avoiding the area is best. Just run in and out of Troll quickly.
Boars first since it’s the one that has the longest respawn timer. It also has the merchant and a great hill for everyone to gather and place banner, trays, bonfires etc. It’s the Boar Station.
Basically it’s Boar, Troll, Bandit, Oak, Wasp (if available). Whenever you enter QD it’s super easy just to go to Boar and wait. The train will come by to pick you up within minutes.
So people have learned cooperation is a good thing and you don’t like that?
Curiously, Superior Sigil of Bloodlust also fell in price around the same time.
Because they nerfed stacking sigils. Many are not using them in our newest builds.
Hoping they reissue these items. They were in this past Wintersday.
GG, not THIS topic again! Sorry to the OP but, this topic has been done over and over since launch. To simply state it, no Tolkien didn’t invent the Ranger archetype. No, a Ranger shouldn’t be petless. If you want that, ask for another profession please.
tbh, I’ve been tossing major runes (if available) in just to see how often things proc. I’m ending up salvaging a lot of my existing exotic gear to recover the sigils/runes. <sigh>
As someone whom has a bunch of Mesmers, it’s funny we’d be complaining about using auto-attacks. GS #1 ring a bell to anyone????
He was instagibbed, there’s NO counter play when you’re DEAD!
To the OP, the dev’s are mostly PvP players and actually WANT us to be instagibbed and trolled. They want us to rage and get our blood pressure thru the roof. Why they think it’s a good idea (or healthy) is beyond me but, that’s how they designed the game. For the thieves defending the profession, of course they don’t want their special taken away. Thus, they instacry about being the poor persecuted profession on threads like yours. Meanwhile, laughing behind the monitor as they know they are getting away with murder, literally in the game.
btw… OP, use a different screenshot than one from a couple months ago.
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
If another EU powerhouse comes over to NA it is JQ’s time to implode. RG made SoS implode, ZDs made SoR implode and JQ has been in t1 for far too long anyway.
Unless of course, such a group wanted good fights and came over to JQ to balance T1’s EU?
I’d like this suggestion too. Just NOT as tonics! GG, losing my mix and match with the Khaki shorts and rouched top is still a very bitter subject for me. Must be armor skins!!!!!
huh, insignia recipes bought with Karma?
Wow, that is awesome!
Pet’s also won’t attack certain objects like gates, etc.
As the title states, I lose connection to everything Anet. Just wondering what happens to affect just their services, meanwhile, others are still playing. I don’t have any other internet issues when this occurs too. Wouldn’t mind as much except, it was very poor timing in WvW right now
What do I do now that I know that thieves are OP?
Well, acknowledgement is the first step to fixing a problem. And please, D/P condi thieves are extremely OP in WvW. Take the training wheels off and play with real stats and see how they scale. Melting people at range, with stealth and mobility makes them extremely OP. Just as OP as it is for PU Mesmer’s with the same trinity of capacity. Also, D/D thieves still have the highest (cheese) burst combo in game.
To the OP, please stop with these troll thread about Bearbow being OP. I have no confidence left in the Dev’s not realizing sarcasm.
Was just in sPvP and pet were dropping in a blink of an eye. That bull patty isn’t right at all. Beside the fact that I believe a DPS Ranger is even more laughable than ever before. GJ with balancing hat Devs, GJ! <—— sarcasm
Unholy Power of Necro!!!!! A thread from last July????
We don’t have classes, we have profession.
We do not have Pvt, we have Ptv!!!!!!! PTV… can we all say PTV!
grrrrr….. pet peeve
For Races, Asura. For Profession, Thief is the Golden Child of the devs.
P/D condi has been an OP build for some time. I’ve said it before on here, you can pretty much just stay at range and Vital shot the person to death. The risk vs reward is quite broken on this play style.
inc… “no it’s not”, “L2P” excuses…. Just try it and see for yourself.
First off, and I mean “FIRST OFF!!!!!” all balancing has to be done in WVW first. You want to change how builds function, change the events/mobs/bosses. Stop screwing up a competitive PvP environment with complaints of PvE and dungeons.
The title alone “Zerker nerf isn’t enough” is so short sighted I not even going to go any further.
How does anyone create a build without measuring? I’m all for MORE analytical tools for us to work with. That’s like blindfolding everyone because a few are prejudice of a certain color.
I was at the Cannon event chain of Lyssa when I blew my top and made this thread. I was making laps around the cannon while dropping traps to chill/cripple in my wake. Even with an infinity spawn of level 82’s I was doing ok. I truly did not see any cause for the damage. It’s like “Yeah….. baby!!!! Whooooo……” pop I’m dead. Wha’ .. why?
For the Lyssa temple event itself, yeah that’s troll central. The camera is so bad and the AOE effects blind you to the mobs, especially Troll Kong!!!!!! I wiped to him twice. He was not even on the platform but, below and inside the wall. No way I could have seen it coming. It’s just really poorly designed.
Grenth shades have been wiping entire maps. I ran into an active event and went straight to the room to the right. I ran over the pool, hit #1, and then pop, insta dead from a shade. Again, no damage report in the combat log.
Generally, people don’t like change. This balance patch is really frustrating because it causing a lot of grief. The more you are invested in the game with a lot of characters, high end gear, multiple accounts, etc. it just get’s worse and worse. Because the cost of changing every character’s build is timely and expensive. Let alone having to research all the changes, chasing the traits, etc.
If you have disposable cash to blow a couple hundred on buying gems to convert to gold then this patch isn’t bad at all.
I don’t know whom changed the scaling of these events but, I’m sick of being one shotted already. Especially when it’s not showing on the combat log or simply saying “unknown” hit me for more than my entire HP pool.
Fix or tone it down, please…. Not fun!
TY
I will agree, I do not like the buy now button. Freak’s me out every time I do anything. Because I know they’ll be a lot of accidental purchases to come.
here are games that have no levelling. But those are primarilly action games, and FPS… etc. The MMO that takes levelling out of it’s experience ceases to be an MMO…
well said.
This game, by far, tries to be a FPS than an MMO. The whole combat system and that we are nothing but killing machines in game pretty much proves that point.
Our server had scheduled times to do temples (Anet, your mega server map list is incomplete). Now, when we just tried to do them at our normal scheduled time, we got blocked out of all temples.
My best guess would be, with so many doing the temples now, that is throwing your schedule off. Though I do agree, last night I ended up just sitting idle at Lyssa for almost 3 hrs waiting. Because the Temples, atm, get nuked in a blink of any eye. Even Karka Queen last but a minute or two. So it’s difficult to actually do the events.
Oh btw… if all these contested WP’s and worse, the required double/triple WP’ing continues, yes NOW I want Mounts!!!!
You know I didn’t like the idea of the megaservers at first but after playing one it’s not bad. It’s nice to see others a lot more often than I used to.
I noticed that on JQ, I got paired with the servers we were matched with in WvW, so I think that’s one of the things taken into consideration.
Yes, I’d like to add on to this. Hey Dev’s, you purposefully created worlds to build friction an animosity between groups of players in WvW. Now you are tossing us all together in a map. What do you think the outcome is going to be? Have you never read a match up thread? Heck, you removed all discussion of WvW matches because of the hate in them. What do you think map chat is going to be like now??? Last night I was on a predominately BG map. Where players were saying TC, as a server, should be dissolved. That every player on TC should be perma banned too.
I understand the games population has fallen. That having so many instances running at once wastes resources and cost Anet money. Though, you can’t expect to put players together haphazardly. Nor, give us a chance to choose our own “comfortable level” of players to play with.
Another issue with the whole Mega Server system is that it is a huge PvE nerf economically. I bought an open world MMORPG to play in an open world setting. Not to be forced into an instance (fotm/dunegons) to keep up with inflation.
For those praising the Mega Server just because there are people around, you could have guested to one of the high pop servers at any time. For those that liked the wilderness feeling, that doesn’t exist anymore with so many players running around. Please give us a chance to choose our OWN “comfortable level” of players to play with.
Lastly, removed the contested status from way points all together. It never made sense, at all, to waste our resources (time) to have to run all around when there’s a WP right where we want to be. For immersion, WP’ing into a hot zone is much more appealing than spending a minute running. Just have a different symbol and colored border around a wp to signify a hot zone. Having a symbol and color are for those whom are color blind.
I’ll give props for the thought of a mega server but, it needs work. Wish players had some input before it went live.
Megaserver in orr(and all maps) is the best thing they have ever done.
Opposition, even against nice features like this, makes the playerbase look bad.
The game was an online rpg before, it’s now turning to a real "mmo"rpg with this patch.
We don’t want orr to stay as a ghost town without any people, I don’t care about events, my server was failing them anyway because of the lack of numbers. If they fail it with a crowded instance, nothing will change. But the game will be a real mmo with players around. I support megaserver in all maps, I wanna see people around…
See, that is your point of view. My Server and some of the other highest population servers do not have such issues. Also, as you might have read, some people want to be in a zone with less people. So who’s desire is the correct one??? And wanting choice is never a bad thing.
Again, this isn’t about if, it’s about when! Now certainly wasn’t the most opportune time for many whom know about doing temples. Which goes beyond the scope of my original rant. I’m certain Vol’s going to be fuming is CS goes on the Mega Server tomorrow The term “roll out” is usually not used to define a day or two.
While I’m not unhappy with the Megaserver in spite of the these few problems it will cause, I’ve always agreed that there is something wrong with the design of events when players are encouraged to allow them to fail in order to access other events/rewards. It’s simply been less of a problem in the past.
I understand the word “fail” seems harsh. Though in the end it’s going to be a win cycle. Because we’ll leave with the temple being controlled by the pact. Which event chains can be looked up on the wiki if you are interested.
I found it more interesting doing an Orr event with 10-15 guildies.
We could pretty much do all the events as they scaled reasonably and all the temple runs.A low population server was often better than a high population server.
The problems with a high population server is you fail to Tag any of the mobs sufficiently to get any drops.
Well, my thread is not about how or if the Mega Server was being brought online, it’s the when. Though I will agree, they’ve been very vague about this “comfortable level” they allude to. There should be a player preference slider to what we’d like to be a part of. It’s what we have now by being able to guest to a high or low pop server.
The point was, a day ago, we ALL could easily check gw2state.com to find which servers were presently attacking a certain temple and guest there. That was light years better than being stuck for hrs on this Mega Server zone.
Everything else others already answered for me.
- A big chunk of dungeon crowd went to champ farming and never came back. 3 of my friends stopped playing because they liked dungeons, not farming some landscape monster for hours. Eventually, I stopped too.
I’m considering this to be a case of selective memory. Let’s look at the time line you speak of. The Queens Jubilee was Aug 6th. What comes a couple of week after that, school. People stopped playing because the summer was over. For farming, far more gold was generated from Dead Eye farming in the Queen’s Gauntlet.
- When I was playing lowbies in queensdale, map chats disgusted me. Sometimes farmers interfered with my leveling as well.
How did they do that? No heart is disturbed in Qd by the train. The train is probably the fastest form of leveling in Qd. For map chat, that is subjective and simply going to occur when there’s players present. Making what they were doing on map irrelevant.
- Everyone was farming like brainless bots 24/7 and gem prices went up like crazy. Converting gold to gems became a joke.
Again, Dead Eye farming in the Queen’s Gauntlet generated for more gold. Champ farming creates items which get placed on the TP which is the largest anti-inflationary mechanism in the game. Dunegons right now are the greatest gold creator’s in the game.
- 3/4 of active players in my guild stopped playing. After 1-2 week of farming themselves, they’ve had enough. We don’t like cheap and shallow gameplay.
Now, this update finally brings some light…
In one day everything is better? Even though the Qd champ train is still running? Again, the summer ended and it should have been expected that player’s were going to stop playing.
Why in the heck would you turn the Mega Server system on in zones where the temples reside? We need to do them to unlock the traits. Now it’s becoming a complete mess to do. You have people just sitting AFK for hours on end in Malchor’s Leap. Worse yet, some people don’t understand that defending the temples is keeping from unlocking traits.
We had great 3rd party websites to inform us which temples were up and they are broken now. We can’t even use Team speak anymore because players are mixed up in the zone. I asked in Malchor’s Leap and we had players from DR, FA, JQ, SF, SoS, TC.
I really don’t get this back handed PvE nerf. If you don’t want players to play, simply shut down parts of the game to conserve your server cost. And the double way pointing better get fixed quickly. Contested wp’s never made a lick of sense to begin with.
Yes, this is an angry post… sorry not sorry
Fine, I’ll just wait til the rotation get’s even more overused as it is now. The damage modifier of Burning Speed put’s it far ahead of Whirlwind and Blurred Frenzy btw.
They changed bundle items to scale with power now. I’m assuming that includes spirit weapons too.
To be as blunt as I can be, the developers were told in so many different way they were breaking Celestial/All stat gear. I spent A LOT of time and money acquiring my Celestial gear and especially Traveler Runes on several characters.
tbh Danicia, I’d really rage at a Dev for about 30 minutes on a “WTH were you thinking?” basis. I know you folks are trying it’s the what are you trying for that I don’t get sometimes. As it stands right now, any of our Celestial/All stat items feel like a bait and switch purchase.
What could be a nice fix would be to add some/more Boon Duration to Celestial/All stat items. Lore wise, it would seem befitted for something called Celestial to grant boon duration.
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
It’s true that champ farming is by a wide margin not the best way to make gold
For the haters of the champ trains, that raise their pitch forks thinking they ruin the economy, I give you this quote. It’s from the games own economist.
Then nothing of value was lost.
If it wasn’t of value, people wouldn’t be complaining. A champ train was far more than the silver generated from it. People still don’t understand that for some it was a fun, lighthearted, social aspect of the game.
hahaha… working as intended
