I love the fact Shadow can’t get figure out hes the problem. It is quite funny.
You may have played MMO’s for 12 years, but that hardly makes you a good party leader. And by your obvious “avoidance” of that makes it quite clear – You ain’t as good as you think you are. My advice, join a pug, be quiet, and follow orders from someone who can lead.
This is a bug. Happened to my team too. I think it has to do with killing Diviner before you kill the chains (Did this 3-4 times and the only time it bugged we got him down to 0 hp but chain was at like 20%).
it is going to get worse, don’t worry. New players are going to find a hard time in 2 months.
Have two players (or one REALLY good one) man the lava buckets. Set up FIRST before you engage. Place one player near the entrance and the other diagonal from him/her. Have three people kite the mob into lava and DPS while kiting. Move in a square. So start with player nearest to you (the entrance) – hit with lava – move the one directly over you (Have the lava runner move WITH the kiters and not sit there ), then hit with lava again. Now once that side is done the other player we placed diagonal at the start should be set. Pull ACROSS to him/her and have them pour lava, then go back towards the door (again having runner run to next bucket), then pour. Move again directly across to where you FIRST started. The lava runner should have moved with you so already be in place. Rinse and repeat a billion times and your set.
His attacks can be dodged and the only insta kill is bombs which is easy to evade. You MUST remember to kite AS A GROUP. Do NOT move astray from each other. That will pull him AWAY from lava. Make SURE lava players know when to pour lava. If on Voice comms shout it out. If no voice comms use pings on the map. If any players have relatively short term roots use them! Warrior use Rifles with the root skill to root him under lava + root skill. You can easily tell where it will fall by the scarred spot on the ground.
MOST IMPORTANT:
Lava players DO NOT AGRO OR DAMAGE HIM. Your only making it harder on kiters and he might come upstairs to pay you a visit!
NO pets (PUT ON PASSIVE)! – NO minions! – NO illusions! Let the dredge target the kiters (who should be working and kiting RIGHT near each other as a team). If you have players who primarily use those things (pets/minions/illusions) put them on lava!
**Edit: If you fail and superheated falls from him do not worry. He WILL regen (unless your lucky), but it will only do roughly 5-7% of his health. Its a lot but not fight breaking.
The only thing that really needs balance is a tad less HP and less damage on LOWEST end fractals.
By the tone of the OP he seems controlling and not fun to deal with. There is leading and there is whining. He is on the whining side. If you freaking out about people not in exotics for T1/2 then I am sorry to say your not as good as you think you are. If your trying to micro manage everyone it won’t work.
Calm down and actually talk to your group and no not in caps. People don’t like being yelled at especially in game. Call targets and go over fights before hand. Target players who are down that need to be brought up ASAP. It is a game and they are trying to have fun.
Swamp needs adjustment though, at the moment it is a tad too annoying for low tier players. Plenty of rage w/o mesmers or so.
@ those who have trouble – if you on on lower fractals allow the party to wipe the harpies out first. Then try. If that fails find a mesmer (I know it kinda sucks to have to LF1 Mesmer thing).
About all you can do, or they might be able to be redesigned similar to CoE laser/Asura fractal ramp. Only 3 need to make it to then “form” the full bridge for less skilled/disability players. I wouldn’t mind that.
People wanted harder things.Anet listened and we got what comunity wanted. Now people complain it’s too difficult.Gosh give it time.
You think the swamp is hard? You can hardly DIE there. Get ash legion spy kits and it makes it so you barely get smacked, but its annoying. Just a tad under 5 Torch CoF path 3, which sucks for non voice comm players unless you have a good leader. Besides it is literally TWO rooms – wisp/treant spirit thing. That should tell you something.
The Asura one is fun – The cliff giant one is really fun.
Dredge suit isn’t cheap, but is tedious and boring.

Lets see:
First pug:
Grawl fire – no wipe
Swamp – no wipe but took FOREVER (this one sucks)
Asura – no wipe
Second Pug:
Asura – No wipe
Swamp – No wipe (Took FOREVER again)
Dredge – one was out because of DC/one died on final boss. Warrior/ranger/engineer finished final boss off
They aren’t hard at low levels, but the swamp one needs a change. It is just a little under 5 Torch in CoF path 3 which is a little much for T1/2/3/4 fractals
Problems with this:
Trip wire TOO hard to see – make them more noticeable. I basically have to memorize them all to jump over.
Moss man – Whats he even for? We just ignored him and he poofs then comes back randomly. He isn’t threatening he just appears go crazy and leaves. Remove him or do…something with him.
The doors – Please just remove these, traps/mobs are enough. “Trick” door you have to exploit up by jumping up it to get through is just annoying.
Ohh also for the all the is mighty STOP making them swap places! Multiple times I have had them “swap” during a run because it took so long to setup and REMOVE the wisps from us.
Robert/Dungeon team: I was down to 3 people (DC/bedtime for others) we were on level 2 final round – Giant statue mission. We got to the final boss. Beat him down and hit the chain to 0 health. It stunned me and then it started acting weird. It tossed our engineer into a cage / killed the other. I was left running around with the chain at 0% and the boss regening (we got the boss to 0% before the chain during the fight btw). After I died we waited for the engineer to get free and die so we could Checkpoint back.
Only he couldn’t get out. He was 100% STUCK. AoE would do nothing, and he said he couldn’t target the cage. All we could do to get out is disband and loose all that progress.
We NEED one checkpoint at the start to restart from bugs, just make it contested when fighting bosses, the community has been saying this for a long time.
“The fractals are so short and u get waypoints when you wipe, not sure what the big deal is.
Dungeons shouldn’t be super easy and make it so dying doesn’t matter."
Nobody cares about rez rushing. We WANT it contested during fights. But the game is too buggy to just “rely” on no WP’s.
Wow with that you would have absolutely killed any condition specs chance of ever seeing Arah or CoE. It isn’t that great of chances as it is now either.
Don’t worry on it.
Maybe their timing on events should be better (it really should be based around region rather than one strict time), and that I can agree on. I might not be able to make it, but I gladly praise ANet for actually making this type of content.
It reminds me of Everquest’s The Sleeper awakening. One per server and it only woke once (well unless you test server like me haha). Or kinda like WoW AQ war/gate thing.
“Before you can begin, you’ll first need to form a full group of five players. All party members will need to be located in Lion’s Arch within the same shard, though only the group leader will need to be physically present at the asura gate to enter the main Fractals of the Mists instance.”
Wait does this mean we can’t cross server group? I am assuming Shards = servers. Going to suck if we can’t.
nothing in the Anet blogpost says anything about being stronger than exotic, give it a day or so until Anet clear things up.
The problem is that ANet hasn’t stated that the armor won’t be better. We have an article that shows it has actual info on the update – they state that armor WILL be better than exotics. ANet states nothing to object to that thus I tend to agree with the article.
If raids were added to GW2 they would be nothing like WoW, just as 5 mans aren’t like WoW. I think people quoting WoW on both sides seem to ignore this.
Pros:
Will allow guild progression – one of the biggest things raids do is help guilds.
Add another element to dungeons
Cons:
Our combat system doesn’t support it. Sorry it just doesn’t support a highly usable raid system. Raids in WoW works with 25-40 people because the devs themselves know who does what <Tank/Heal/DPS> without this it would be nearly impossible to create a good “raid” without just taking a 5 man boss and upping damage/hp/tossing more adds.
Combo fields – They currently are VERY limited. Even with 5 people it acts wonky. It wouldn’t handle 25 people tossing combo fields all over the place
The actual game engine – Lets be real here. You can’t even turn off all non-required spells effects. with 25 people tossing everything they have it will look horrible. Let alone rendering the players/crashing.
So I am against a raid instance – however
An open world dungeon with the difficult of explore mode would be nice. Have it set up like Temple of Veeshan from Everquest (which could house up to three raids) by using a VERY large zone and multiple “wings” for a massive set of players to go through. Set it up to use DE’s/Meta Events (similar to Temple) that push the players back and forth between the dungeon mobs and NPC allies. Add respawns + one WP back at the ent (to prevent zerging) to add difficulty and I think that is a bit better.
We have been talking about contested dungeons for a long time. ANet seemed to have made a stand to keep them even though they routinely bug out or become an annoyance.
Sad but true. It is going to be worse one/two expansions down the line when Orr is 100% deserted.
Predicting a flood of people with dungeon master if these gates and path bugs eventually get fixed
Fixed for ya.
You can tell how happy I am at this point=/
I hope I don’t have to do the new dungeon for DM title. I am blocked only by Arah at this point because the door has been closed for a month with NO word from ANet. A 100% separate title is fine – Lost Shores Dungeon Master if completed or something.
Borlis Pass
Been checking for about 1 month. STILL not open…EVER.
Hey ANet! I bet it was “real wise” adding Arah to the personal story right?
if you cant even finish the dungeon you dont deserve the skin.
People have to realise, they play Arenanet’s game, Arenanet dont work for you. I hope they keep doing what they’re doing and dont buckle to the ‘gimme free stuff’ crowd, because its great atm, though still easy.
Lovely response only you forgot some things:
1: If you crash at near boss death = no reward
2: Power flashes near boss death = no reward
3: Player get kicked from a dungeon by jerks who want to invite a guildie who just logged on. = no reward
Here is a hint: Other games don’t have this because they use a loot based system. You crash? Sucks. Go back in the dungeon and re-loot your rewards. Crash in this game? Too bad no – XP/Silver/Tokens for you because you weren’t there that whole 2% left on the final boss. Don’t worry though! You looted plenty of blues right!?
(edited by Dead.7385)
1. No
2. No
3. Yes + 100
4. No, just reduce “mini-boss” syndrom CoE has. Do we REALLY have to kill a bot mini then follow it by an event where you….kill more bots?
5. Crystal should be a tad easier to dodge I agree. It sucks for my warrior.
6. No – my duel inquest axes are amazing – thank you very much.
Aside from the Evolved Destroyer and the HP of the MARK T-B-something boss I agree. CoE is probably the most fun dungeon in the game at the moment.
^ Agreed, its weird since they like to toss in mini – bosses with no real reward followed by a chest even (Mark-whatever followed by hacking for instance).
The Destroyer is just laughably boring. Sit there, watch a progress bar go down – play – rinse and repeat. They should have had players trapped in the forcefield and have guns do something else.
Another annoying one if the champion guy after you break down the door with the laser. Tons of hp etc, no real reward.
One of the parts that kind of shocked me when I first played it was the “life or death” choice for the Inquest. I wish more dungeons had something similar.
I just played TA with 3 random guys. We faced the last boss after 1 hour then when the tree was at at 75%
Which tree might I ask? Up – F/UP – F/F?
I was dead.I just simply said I will w8 cause its not worth it running back ,because it would be dead at that time.
Why wait? It isn’t like respawning would have killed you. Though I suppose if the run is a bit harsh (if you skipped mobs) I would personally understand, but you did essentially say “kill it for me, because I don’t want to run back”.
Well I was dead before at some points and I respawned, but this fight is just stand kill at range and dodge AOE.
So UP path I am guessing?
I was kicked out just for sayn that .I was very mad.I talked to my friend to add me to the party, but he said that the others denied.
Did I do something wrong here?,If I did why they didnt warn me or anything?
1. Refusing to help the group because you died. That is it in a nutshell.
2. They didn’t warn you because, they didn’t warn you I guess. Not much to go on.
Ok lets talk in general.Any 4 friends make a group with any random and then kick him at the last boss and inv their 5th friend to take the advantage.
the Q here what can I do at this situation?
K, now your just taking it a bit far. It seems like you ran UP path. Deal with it and form another PuG – it doesn’t take long to do that path.
Personally the combat itself doesn’t really need to be deeper – that will come with expansions.
However- the combo field system needs tuning. Originally I thought it would be very helpful to use skills bounced off other players to defeat dungeon bosses, but really it isn’t required at all. Nor is it hugely noticeable.
People have lives outside of the game too, you know.
I know! They should totally send a letter to everyone asking when they should hold events.
Not yelling at you in any way Dead. Just clarifying for future posts regarding my list.
All good, don’t take it as if I am jumping on ya I just wanted to point out that there is a ton of stuff to “gauge” (some useful and some….not so). Trust me I am on the edge on this, I would REALLY like to know what I can do, but would rather not the game have: “What’s your gearscore?”. Dangerous ground there. =(
And lets be fair, would you rather be fighting Zhaitan with 5 people, or 50 people? What scenario seems like a more epic conclusion?
5 people personally. 50 for Zhaitan? Go look at Jormag and how “fun” that is for your answer. It is fun untill you realize that our combat system doesn’t really support mass PvE other than zerging.
- Overall Damage
- Overall Condition
- Overall Heal
- Number of Knockbacks Dealt
- Number of Dodgerolls
- Number of Deaths
- Number of Revives
Trimmed it down a bit to make post shorter, but what you listed is still true to the post (Dmg/Condition/Heal/knockback/dodge/death/revive).
Still missed some: Where is my axe warriors stacks of venerability listed in there? Or how about roots/chill/snare? How about cures? Combo fields?
Edit: Still I would like some way to see how much DPS I can put out, mainly for curiosity/min-max sake. But even if you made it so only you could see those stats…well we all know what that turned out to be: Gearscore.
(edited by Dead.7385)
1.) Puts up an unfair advantage versus normal people who have to carry around many types of armor and weapons for different builds.
And what of those who don’t have Exotics yet? You can’t even get exotics till late game and the first explore dungeon is 35, so a level 35 has no equal gear to that of a 80 in full exotic. Not to mention traits. Sorry I don’t buy Unfair advantage with the way he described. Furthermore, how about those who don’t have an exotic set of EVERY weapon type? Aren’t they already at a disadvantage?
But yes for the sake of BUGS they definitely need a “What’s our Status (are we stuck?)” Dialogue that forces a Variable reset and a series of simple boolean checks (is X & Y Boss Dead?) to make sure they opened the doors and objectives they were supposed to open.
+1
If they added that to NPC allies I would take back my previous statement about removing them and just spawning/despawning them in/out whenever required.
But since we both know that ain’t gonna happen. =/
I actually kind of like this idea. Mainly because it allows people to pick whichever legendary they want and swap stats rather than use a Xmute stone.
It is alright.
I grinded 5 mans in WoW
I grinded 6 man dungeons in EQ
I grind 5 mans in GW2
The only difference is I don’t have a fee attached every month.
Never saw one word typed in chat till I got to Lion’s Arch.
That is actually commonplace. This isn’t a very social MMO. Been this way for over a month.
Metrica Province had one other player. The big Fire Elemental just danced a lonely dance in the reactor.
Most people are 80 or just WvW to gain levels because they have already done those zones and it isn’t “alt” friendly.
Rata Sum? Completely Empty.
All home cities have basically been empty. There isn’t any reason to go there aside from Cultural when everything is in Lions Arch. Toss in the fact that there are 5 racial home cities and you dilute the player pool even more
It actually made me sad running through these zones and seeing all these world events spawned everywhere with zero people doing any of them.
That’s basically what happens when leveling is so quick. Everyone hits max level and ignores the rest.
Anyway, I’m not trying to bag on the game as I actually enjoyed it when it was bustling with life, but like the header says… Where did everybody go?
WvW
Lions Arch
Dungeons
^
Borlis pass player here as well
I want dungeon paths 5 6 and 7 for Crucible of Eternity and I want the boss for 5 6 and 7 to be more Subject Alpha
Also maybe 5 6 and 7 for AC can be 3 more spin offs of just a bigger graveling.
Hey now! Path 2 has a whole one section of ghosts for that amazing sigil of ghost slaying all AC weapons come with!
For instance dungeon they need to make new ones with just two paths. Quick and easy 20-30 min run, and a hard mode path that is roughly one hour, but difficult to complete. Two unique paths is better than 3 dull paths with repetitive mob types.
@mad queen:
Open world dungeons? I loved those back in EQ. I was so hoping that Cursed Shores “huge” dungeon was going to be something like that. Too bad were getting another instanced cut off from the world that if it is as long as they state will only make players mad they have to spend hours in an instance to get to the end. Ohh well, modern MMO design. Not much you can do about it.
We have been asking for this for a long time. It seems the devs think that the “story” is more important to gameplay. It is irritating to think realistically these explore mode dungeons are essentially an escort mission hidden within bugs and praying for triggers to happen.
No we don’t care about story – thats why you have Story mode. If you need to explain something to the player have the NPC spawn then despawn. Yes it doesn’t “look” right, but neither is a bugged NPC not giving you credit, opening a door, or even screwing up dungeon boss mechanics.
ANet needs to just remove contested dungeons
Nobody cares about freeing them and those that do free them are only irritated by it. It was fun for me to free CoE once, after the 5th time I was just really annoyed. Yes it looks “fun” on paper, but sucks in game. Not only does it suck but if you can’t keep it “fixed” than why bother coding for it?
It could be worse, yesterday we killed the Howling King, only for Hodgins to bug out and not start the final cinematic, which meant no final reward.
So we went through the entire dungeon path only to get no reward other than the 15s you loot from the King.
Yup had this happen to be….two days ago. Twice. Also back in early October. I reported it back then with 4 others. I just gave up hope now.
It’s called “Magic” :P……
Not sure what side your on, but I was for Condition damage hitting objects. I was only trying to point out that a “realism” debate for why we can’t use condition dmg on objects is utterly pointless, because the game itself has no basis in it.
And if someone does use “magic” as a point, that is itself null because “magic” has no real property. I can easily say I can burn/bleed rocks by using “magic” the same way a ranger never has to feed his pet, or we never had to buy bullets/arrows to our ranged weapons.
(edited by Dead.7385)
Add multi-guild chat: For example – Guild 1/2/3/4 (in order of your guild window)
Guild: Jake – Hey guys
This will go to anyone who is representing.
Guild(1):Jake Hey guys
If you are representing guild #2 you still see jake talk but know it is from guild “X”.
That about solves it. It makes it a huge multichannel chat box.
I think this is necessary, so tired of running the dungeon just to realize there is a new BUG. If you can’t fix or make sure all the bugs won’t be showing or reappearing, at least reward people with something that they have finished.
Agreed 100%. Ran several paths that have bugged out (they LOVE to bug out at the final boss or after his death) and have had this problem for over a month, and of course due to the way rewards work – No tokens/26 silver. Tada have fun running it again, those blues/greens that were GREAT loot right? In all honesty I just gave up reporting, because it felt they were running around without a head trying to figure what what to do with their dungeons. SE path 1 is great example of this. Rewards suck, and they know it, but decide to make a relatively unused dungeon even tougher for new players and then BUG the entire path while they were at it. Of course there is no hot fix to help this. Then they smack another dungeon on the 15th. Really? The mini-dungeon you added during the holiday was bugged from the get go. How are you going to fix the current dungeons PLUS an entirely new “massive” dungeon?
T1 (story) – Balanced toward basic DE difficulty. Sorry – its more for Story and it will only get worse finding group for obscure SM dungeons as time passes. I would be game for making them solo/duo friendly.
T2 – Basic explore we have now. – Same rewards
T3 – More difficult explore mode with Waypoint locks – No Graveyard zerging at all. This would reward basic explore 60 tokens as well as 1/6 “cosmetic” random upgrades. This would allow players to make the current explore armor more unique akin to the weapons. For instance instead of just the weapons glowing at night for AC, if you collect all 6 AC pieces all you turn into a ghostly form of your race, and so one.
You might as well just buy a new set and salvage the old by now. If it is AC and just shoulders it should take about 3 full runs or so. So either 1 hour 1/2 max or three days (if you do one dungeon per day).
“how do you bleed a log?”
How do you throw a greatsword the size of your body like a boomerang, then have it circle in a perfect 360, THEN turn around (though a wall most of the time mind you), and come back to you and grab it taking no physical injury?
Inc F2P Guild wars 2 PvP only mode.
1 character slot + unlocks for better cosmetic upgrades. Yup.
I would like PvE only specific dungeon effects. Something that only works if you wear a FULL set of dungeon armor (including weapons).
I would love armor to act the way of AC weapons with the glow happening at night. Or even turning your character into a ghost version of your race at night. Of course a choice to remove those effects would need to be implemented to reduce lag.
Only way – They wanted to remove the RNG element, so you felt as if you were always getting closer and didn’t lose a bad roll. It isn’t bad thing to think…..but, it isn’t working that well which is why they are trying to figure out how to make dungeon chest rewards worthwhile now.
It isn’t “saved” like in other games if the starter/all player(s) leave.
Sucks I know.
As for story mode – Me and 2 guildies got about 1/2 through it naked just the three of us. A team of 5 is doable.
As for Exp mode – Subject Alpha is something you learn over time, after a couple of runs you will realize when to dodge and when to not. Also to free players from crystals. And yes as Asagi stated the hacking event is tons of fun.
