Stop with ascended stuff

I’m trying to wrap my head around as to why anyone.. and I mean anyone, would be opposed to them adding stronger gear options. Seriously, 5-10 years from now, is anyone still going to be happy to see the exact same exotic gear we have now?? Get real.. You should want to have new/stronger gear.

If your worried that someone people are going to have some weird major advantage because they’re in ascended gear and your not; don’t worry. If the ascended weapons and armor follow the same difference in stats that the current trinkets do, the numbers are going to be negligible. It’s the main reason why I never bothered with ascended trinkets because the minor raise in stats just aren’t worth it. On the off chance the new ascended weapons and armor require laurels, i’d rather spend them for cosmetic purposes rather than an extra 100 power.

What they do need to do is the materials needed for this new ascended gear needs to be as readily available in WvW as it will be in PvE.

The difference however with stealth stomp and the others is.. you guessed it, you can’t touch them when their stealthed, and no can your teammates.

This is completely wrong.

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

I can and have saved my team when they were about to be stealth stomped because I can and do use skills that allow me to knock the stomper away from stomping because there are plenty of skills that can and do effect the stealthed person.

Hammer #4. Fear Me. Warrior Stomp Skill. Earthshaker. That is just warrior.

Stealth does not grant invulnerability.

Stealth does not grant stability.

You are completely wrong and misinformation like this needs to stop. If I could report for such, I would because this is getting ridiculous with this kind of false information.

I suggest then you grab someone from another server and test it out. Already tried it and it doesn’t work (with warrior). Sorry to break it to you.

  • The rotation is the same across all servers.
  • If you play at the same time every day, you will see all 13 maps by the end of the Clockwork Chaos release.

It’s no guarantee people log in the same time everyday (or even everyday for that matter). The achievements should be realistic to those who play a reasonable amount of time.

Myself personally, I log in the same time everyday but saturday was on much longer; and I have yet to see Dreadnaught cliffs as well. I don’t really care though as I already have 17 achievements for the title anyway.

People still need to do achievements believe it or not; so those that farm and hinder event completion aren’t doing the others any favors.

Anet can easily stop farmers; once the Aetherblades sky captain pops up, just make the rest of his mobs invulnerable until he’s killed, problem solved. I would much rather them do that than their typical solution in just nerfing loot (that helps nobody).

I wouldn’t consider farmers obtaining 30 bags per invasion good.. I’ve walked away with over 60 bags before finishing the event, as well as, about 12 gold.

If they get rid of stealth stomp, go ahead and remove: mesmer invulnerable stomp, mist form stomp, stability stomp, portal stomp, etc.

Sounds silly doesn’t it? So does what you’re asking for. Its just part of the class that killed you.

That sounds like a fantastic idea actually; none of those should be in the game. The difference however with stealth stomp and the others is.. you guessed it, you can’t touch them when their stealthed, and no can your teammates.

I know the next thing out of your mouth is going to be “do you really expect to win” “do you expect attacking them to make a difference”.. yes my pet has downed dozens of people while in stability trying to spike me. My teammates as well.

First thing to go should be stealth stomp, then the rest. The best solution is to just remove downed state all together, it’s just for really bad players anyway.

There are a lot of people who play these events and consequently, a lot who still need to actually kill scarlet. This means they have to finish the event.

There was even a guy from Anet in one of the games asking people who were farming to stop as they wanted to finish the event, so I guess it is a problem.

They have a very easy solution to fix it; which I hope they will do instead of nerfing it. Once the captain pops out, make the rest of the mobs invulnerable until they die, problem solved.

Don't these events feel rather mindless?

I just don’t like the idea of the living story itself with these new events appearing every month. It no longer makes them feel special but more tedious to grind achievements (which I believe grinding was not supposed to be on the table).

I’d much rather see a special event say around halloween that had something similar to what we have now, but an invasion on 5 separate maps.. then if all 5 maps were successful, it would unlock a special boss on each map. Say an invasion of halloween themed characters enter the world.

To me, that seems better than something every few weeks. By the time halloween rolls around, I’ll probably already be bored of doing special content.

Last night I ended up farming 2 events (only because most people seemed to be doing that so I was stuck doing it as well to get anywhere)

Both farmed events yielded me less bags, loot, and gold overall. I get more doing the actual event itself. Farming, I think got me an average of 2-3 gold while completing the actual event usually nets me 5-6 gold.

Why exactly are people farming anyway? From what I see, it seems to be 50% less effective than doing the event itself..

You are probably not tagging enough champs.

Right now the reward difference between failing 3rd phase and winning is far less than farming one entire scaled Aetherblade event.

Perhaps, but farming yielded I believe somewhere around 40-50 bags. The event itself I usually get closer to 60 and walk away with more gold. Not sure how I can tag more champs outside being able to freely throughout waypoints while in combat or having them uncontested.

One time I was lucky enough to actually be on the main map when it spawned; however I disconnected 2 min later. I logged back on, was put in the overflow and nothing was going on (this was with about 5 min out of the 10 left).

While this is all fine and dandy, this doesn’t help people that can only log on at specific times in the day (which is nearly everyone), they must be accommodated.

I’m going to play the devils advocate at the moment. I think most would agree that WvW’s state at the moment isn’t that desirable which is making GvG far more appealing. I’m sure if WvW was more interesting, there would be far less GvG going on..

But for the people who are “pro GvG” or arguing that people are allowed to play how they want to play… how would you feel if there was a sudden influx trolls that just entered WvW just for the sole purpose making sure that you don’t get in?

We all know that many people like to troll.. suppose now there was a troll guild that just parked itself in all maps of WvW for all hours of prime time.. dancing in their home base? Dolyak parade perhaps? Maybe just run around killing rabbits..

They bought the game, that’s how they want to play.. but yet, it affects you as you can no longer GvG.. are you going to get mad? Are you going to complain on the forums? Do you really have a case if there are say 200 people in WvW running shooting rabbits because that’s what they like to do?

Just get rid of rallying and downed state in general in WvW. It’s fine in PvE but has no place anywhere else.. that is unless your a really bad player.

You were that close to getting some money out of me Anet, but unfortunately your stinginess on not making it at least a master quality means money out of your pocket.

I don’t get it, really, it’s not like us purchasing master salvage kits is putting money in their pockets, so why on earth would they ever offer us an unlimited basic salvage kit? I’d also hardly call 15.36 silver a gold sink considering the master salvage kit doesn’t need to be used much as the basic takes care of most of the needs.

Anet.. seriously… what gives?

I understand what your saying OP, but to relieve the frustration, leave the que; don’t travel to the main map.

If your already part of a zerg that’s busting up the invasions fairly good.. why leave? Perhaps the event crashed, or bugged out on the main map.

Some people play WvW strictly for the fights without care for rewards, but they are few and far between…

Given this new update and the abundance of loot and gold it gives: The terrible match-ups plus this new patch are equating to a mass drop in WvW population on those servers whom are getting their butts kicked.

Basically, if your even remotely in WvW for the rewards (and yes it can be lucrative with a good group), you’d be foolish to remain in WvW at the moment.

Looking at the current scores, I’m going to take a wild guess that Tiers T2 through T8 have had a fair reduction in WvW population, and will continue to do so while this event goes on.

how often has this happened? I do know that if your qued for another map in WvW and you have that time period where can click “travel” at anytime you wish. Theoretically, you could be near death, then decide to travel to the new map and you’ll still be alive. I’d think it’d appear on your enemies screen as you just vanishing.

I’ve done this a couple of times so I know it works.

It seems to me that Tiers 2 through 8 (at least on the NA side) could overall, use a heavy injection of PvE’ers into WvW seeing as it’s rare to que all 4 maps at once aside from reset night. In fact, I wager to guess than many of these servers within those tiers often see that outmanned buff a fair amount when they enter WvW. The perfect way to do this would be to equalize the rewards in WvW itself.

From the very beginning, if we were told to play how we want to play, then loot in WvW gets sizeably reduced like it did in the last patch; if that doesn’t scream:

“Stop playing WvW and play this new living story content instead” then I don’t know what does.

Overall, WvW loot is not as good as PvE to begin with, but to reduce it the amount that they did makes no sense.. other than they want people to stop playing and join the living story instead. This hardly seems like a “play as you like scenario”.

There are players out there who do WvW strictly for the fights, but they are few and far between. Evidence of this rears it’s head when content comes out that proves to be a far better farming spot. Like that instigator event in southsun. Everytime I entered WvW during that event, we were either outmanned or all the maps were nearly empty.

SM is easy to take regardless if your force is outnumbered. Several entry points to get sandwiched with, and it’s far to easy to bombard the lords room with siege (where people generally like to gather).

What SM really should have is 1 heavily buffed legendary (lord), several officer like legendaries that all guard that main room + a dozen or so champs that guard both the lords room, tunnels, and the area just outside the tunnels (where people like to drop AC’s). Have all the NPC’s capable of buffing the players inside, so in fact it is the defenders who have the advantage (like it should be).

Now that I think of it, I suppose a pile of skill lag plus a hoard of legendaries and champs guarding the area would mean insta-death to any attacking force.

You’re talking about WoW.

It’s horrible. High level characters lurk in the starter zones and at any travel choke point or resource node, just waiting for a low-level character to wander by trying to play the game. Then they kill them.

You can’t do anything without the constant risk that just when you’ve beaten a mob down almost to stomping (and you’re at half health) someone will pop out and send you back to the graveyard.

This is one thing Anet got right by disallowing open world PvP in the “PvE” zones. For this very reason (though I never cared if I got smoked by a high level in WoW), generally doesn’t work with most people. It acts more of a deterrent from playing than anything.

The only aspect I enjoyed with open world PvP in WoW was the achievements and holiday events that required toons to storm into the enemies major cities and wreak havoc.

IMO, they really should stop cranking living story events every few weeks and just save that type of content for special events like Xmas & Halloween.. etc.. I think they’d be much better off tying in these living story events into the holiday events instead so they can be considered truly unique.

It almost feels like I’m getting burned out on temporary content aside from the permanent content and I havn’t even played in nearly 2 weeks. By the time say halloween comes around, it no longer feels unique.

Sure I don’t have to take part in all the Living Story content (and believe me I don’t); but when their developer resources are better spent elsewhere in areas of their game that are in need (like WvW), it can leave a sour taste in people’s mouths. Then, as others have mentioned, they get ticked off and leave.

We all know why they do it; the all mighty dollar, with every event brings more things in the gem store to be purchased. Perhaps a clever idea except they seem to forget that they need people to actually purchase these things. If people like me who have bought oodles of gems, finally wash their hands of handing over money, their clever plan not only fails, but they’ve also lost their customer base.

Anet should really open up a whole other mode for both dueling and GvG. People mainly jump in WvW to do exactly what it was designed to do. Those that jump in just to duel and GvG are only wrecking it for others who are there for the actual WvW experience.

Do I blame them? No, the WvW experience is boring at the moment for a laundry list of reasons people have mentioned, and the only way these players get any enjoyment at all is to either duel or GvG. Unfortunately, that won’t change unless some drastic changes are made to WvW itself

It does not affect your game play in any way shape or form, and you’d be a complete fool to think it does. Nothing changes, notta, zilch, zero, just a lot less complaining.

Put it this way, this method was heavily favored before and for good reason. The amount of complaining that goes on with people is coming because of blowout matches. The easiest, quickest, and cheapest way for Anet to solve it is do one of 2 things:

1). Remove it entirely
2). Shut it off during off hours when these blowouts occur

The amount of people it’d pacify greatly outnumbers those it’d tick off. Most people say they play for the fights? Fine prove it then…

Question is, what do those people do if/when Anet decides to tinker with WvW’s biggest handicap (PPT), do people switch to different servers, continue on, or quit? Hint: 2 out of the 3 would drastically help the majority of the servers in WvW..

So ill ask you again, out of all possible solutions, given the path of least resistance, what route do you think Anet will take? If your game is based on PPt in anyway, your just setting yourself up for disappointment and should probably find a new game entirely.

Just like the fellow above me, we play on the same server bro… Lol. So you know full well what I’m talking about. You’ve seen our numbers in T1 and you’ve seen them in T2.. That you cannot argue, that you cannot deny, whether you like it or not. Sorry to break it to both of you, but either removing PPT entirely or shutting it off when the blowouts generally occur would solve most issues. More people would be in WvW (as we’ve seen when matches are closer). It is what it is.

Dont make t1 alter playstyles to get JQ t1

Theres two parts to T1: JQ Has both.

Theres #’s/Covarage: in which TC has more of then JQ.
Theres t1 t tactics on how to take a t3 sieged up keep with 15 sup.
AC;s inside firing down.

For coverage – TC Wings t1 Covrage
For Tactics – JQ Wings by objective knowledge by far

Honesly, I cant remember the lsat time TC came and got a BG/SoR keep. This is a big part in ppt as commander need to grow up and learn how to take a t3 garry wihth 5000 AC;’s It can be done. There are select commanders on BG that can do it, and there is 2 guilds on SoR that have vasp expereince in takign t3 Garri keeps.

They might have people but until they l;earn to schout/siege./coordinate how to troll the cirlce they can never fully immigraate into the t1 community as much sa we love them as competitiors.

when people play for the fights, tjeres two types, open field, and kitten chaos trying to take a borderland garry. well if TC Cant take garry, they arent reallty running what the T1 metta’shave learned to due best. JAHA has proved he can many times, stop rating coverage over server gwg knowledge.

I don’t know about this week as I havn’t been on much, but the previous time when TC faced SoR, and SoS; TC nabbed SoR’s garrison at least 3 times when it was T3. (I was a part of it, and we were outnumbered as well)

I do agree, TC probably shouldn’t be in T1, it has nothing to do with skill because frankly, when we face SoR and BG (at least in prime time when I’m on), we have no trouble taking them down in open field fights, even if were outnumbered. TC shouldn’t be in T1 because they don’t like to mega-blob everywhere. TC at most runs with maybe 35 people max in a zerg with the rest of the map being havoc groups or small group roamers. Usually it’s only 25-30 to a zerg.

The numbers we put forth tell the story; traditionally TC numbers are stronger during the week (as opposed to the weekend). The previous match-up (before queen’s jubilee), it seemed 3 out of the 4 maps I’d log into during prime time, we were outmanned, which is unusual. Then when you look at reset night where the numbers are even, what do we see; TC with a healthy PPT lead for 90% of the night.

Reset night, where all 4 maps are always que’d, we see where TC stands with even numbers; but because TC doesn’t like to mega-blob around in SoR does, they really shouldn’t be there. I cant comment much on BG because they only seem to come out at night when everyone is sleeping.

I’m glad I have a fully decked out 80 warrior. I guess i’ve been doing it wrong all along in using my Ranger.

I said this in another thread, but clearly some classes have clear advantages over others in this event, and this should never be the case. This is exactly the type of thing that will push people away.

The game is mostly made up of casuals, and I can guarantee you these people don’t want to be flipping builds and armor sets every time they enter a battle, nor should they feel they have to level up an OP class to do the job.

The problem with this event is even on a fully decked out 80, it isn’t possible on many builds meaning it pigeon-holes you into specific builds. Couple this with the fact that certain classes have clear advantages in the arena over others.. so for those whom don’t have 80’s on their classes are at a severe disadvantage.

They are on the right track with the event, but they didn’t think it through well enough before executing it.

This is the type of thing that will push more people away from the game, rather than draw them in. Whether people like it or not, casuals vastly dominate the game over hardcore players, and thus to keep a strong game going, it needs to cater to them. All achievements need to be made available for good ole Joe blow who may play 6hrs a week at max and have no 80’s.

I think before they add anything into WvW, they need to address the skill lag issue, first and foremost. I could care less if we got new or larger maps if whenever a battle starts the only thing it becomes is a spam 1 fest.

I think the amount of living story content were getting is a bit over the top. I think it’s great when special content is released for special events like Halloween & X-mas because it feels more festive.

The continuous stream of PvE content doesn’t really make it feel special anymore but more of a task. By the time Halloween and X-mas roll around, a lot of us may be burned out from doing special content at all.

How to handle population imbalances

There are 3 factions in the game; there are also 3 borderlands (how convenient); Make it faction vs faction vs faction.

Players no longer log on with their server, they go to the faction vs faction server and can physically see the numbers from each faction on each map, so they either no they are walking into even numbers or outmanned. They can pick whatever faction they want to fight for. Have many Tiers open (like overflow maps) for each map so players can either fight in full scale numbers, or small group fights if they so choose.

Remove the PPT and you now gain a new currency for successfully defending and taking over structures, as well as, killing other players. The new currency can be used for new gear and skins, as well as, power ups and boosts for use in PvE.

Have special masteries, siege, and rewards for each faction and a whole new set of achievements for each.

- Little to no more que times
- Little to no skill lag if you choose
- Variety in who your fighting for
- Even or odd numbered situations if you choose
- More rewards and achievements to strive for

Anything Tier 5 and below I imagine.

Stay out of Tier 1 whatever you do. Despite what others tell you, if you even attempt to roam around in small groups, your either going to be dead or way pointing every 3 min, due to the larger group.

I’d like to see the actual log in numbers for WvW for each server between 3 times of day.

Log-ins for:

Midnight – 8am
8am – 4-pm
4pm – Midnight

That way those naysayers can finally see that the only difference in WvW is numbers and coverage.

Matchup plea

It’s always about numbers, nothing less and nothing more. Those with the best overall coverage wins. That doesn’t take skill. In fact, you’ll find that those generally with overwhelming numbers aren’t that good, simply because they don’t need to be.

A server cannot be considered skilled when:

A) They have an abundance of people in a different time zone where Sea/Oceanic is their prime time.

B) People who do night shifts, where again, Sea/Oceanic is their prime time.

All that is, is chance. If people are going to compare skill of servers, compare them with even numbers. The best time to do that is reset night when generally all the numbers are even across all maps and everyone is prepared to fight.

When you look at the past reset night, you’ll see TC was ahead a large portion of the night by fairly big margin. You’ll also notice a couple reset nights ago when DB was in T1, they were ahead as well. I can’t say I’m surprised because when you run around in such massive groups for so long like BG and SoR do, it’s easy to lose your groove. You just don’t need to be that skilled when running in massive groups. I actually can’t comment much on BG because they only seem to show up when people have gone to sleep. Every time I log on, their PPT seems to be hovering between 150-180. I think I’ve only seen them once this match up during prime time all week.

Anet could easily throw a wrench into everybody’s chest thumping by simply turning the PPT off during off hours. That would send a few servers spiraling down the ranks probably where they should be in terms of actual skill.

Actually, one better, remove all way points from WvW (including the ones in your home base). Stop zergs from map jumping, stop zergs from flash spawning in bases and near-by camps. If they want to defend them, they can leave people there to defend them.

Replace all the way points with something different like turning all guards into champions or legendaries. WvW is a combination of PvE and PvP so make the PvE portion of it actually harder.

In all honesty, it’s just best to match servers together who have similar styles of play. Coming from TC, I think I can speak for most of us when I say that we don’t like mega zerg play. Our zergs rarely get in excess of 35 people, they are usually only 25.

As much as I like T1, TC probably doesn’t belong there because our style of play simply doesn’t mesh. Megablob play gets boring and it reflects by the drop off in numbers throughout the week.

For instance, look at reset night when the numbers are even, TC was putting the boots to both SoR and BG and held a healthy PPT for 90% of the night. You’d think seeing as we did well (for T2 standards) that it would keep people coming out. Traditionally, TC has larger forces during the week than on weekends. Now, it seems any map I go into, we have that pretty little outmanned buff lol. That is not classic TC.

This is why I agree with the OP and some others in this thread, JQ really belongs in T1 more because JQ will consistently come out with numbers to match; TC won’t.

Given the possible nerf to WvW loot and the profitability of Queen’s jubilee at the moment, if TC gets match up with SoR and BG again, there might be even less numbers than before.

This may be a measure to pull people away from WvW to participate in the new content. WvW was great for loot (best place IMO), but now the new Queen’s Jubilee content is far superior to WvW in regards to loot/gold.

Realistically, if your a player who played WvW mainly for loot, it doesn’t make sense anymore to farm there. You can easily fill your bags up in the new content in less than 30 min.

This also could have an indirect impact on the WvW populace if next’s weeks matches are mismatches. I highly doubt you’ll find servers that are getting blow out to remain in WvW when they can clean up in Queen’s Jubilee.

Anet better take note of the match-ups created next week

WvW has never been the best place for loot. It has always been the worst place, with the poorest drops and the poorest quality of drops. A single fractal run usually nets more than a whole night of WvW and even the new chests routinely drop greens when PvE chests have guaranteed rare items.

From my experience, fractals is atrocious for loot compared to WvW, but that also might depend on what servers we play on.

If you can convince me that fractals can net over 8g per hour then i’ll admit im doing something wrong in Fractals and I’m gladly all ears to get more if you have a suggestion.

My record right now in WvW (without getting any exotics and I believe 3 yellows) is 46g in just over 4hours of play. On average I get about 4-5g per hour and 15-20g a night (as I play usually 3-4hrs). Can fractals get me that?

I havn’t tested the current loot in WvW as I’ve been strictly doing Queen’s Jubilee. As I’m able to fill my bags in about 30 min of play in Queen’s jubilee.. from the sounds of it, it sounds like the go-to place instead of WvW.

Anet will inevitably do something about it as it seems to be an ever growing problem with players with the prime reason that it doesn’t encourage small group play.

While I don’t see them removing downed state or rallying, I could see them putting restrictions on it..

- I could see them only allowing players to rez others only when their out of combat
- I could also see people rallying with a hit in stats (similar to WoW’s battle sickness or whatever it’s called).

Both would be leaps and bounds better than what we have at the moment. Why run in a small group when a much larger group will just rez everybody you downed?

Perhaps they nerfed the loot for big zergs? Would be kinda funny if they did considering the idea has been toyed with as a measure for zergs to break up.

It also could be a measure to pull people away from WvW into Queen’s Jubilee as the amount of loot you get through that.. is well, pretty much a gold mine. WvW used to be very profitable for gold/loot but now this new content dwarfs it.

Simple solution to combat zergs (and give reason to defend towers); give say 5 defenders within the tower a buff (which they can pay gold for). Say it costs 2g for this buff, this what the buff should give:

- 50% increase in overall damage (both siege and regular)
– 100% increase in damage to enemies in groups of 25-35
– 200% increase in damage to enemies in groups of 35-49
– 300% increase in damage to enemies in groups of 50 +

- 75% decrease damage from all sources
- Immune to all forms of CC
- Siege is invulnerable while the player remains on it
- gain 50s per tick

Buff remains active on player indefinitely as long as they stay inside the structure.

Kills 2 birds with one stone, people are happy to defend and hold towers, zergs forced to break up unless they like 100%-300% damage raining down on them from arrow carts. There you go, Anet, make it happen.

Ya that’s the thing with this update.. I love it because of it’s farming potential; it’s ridiculous how good it is.. and it’s fun.

If the server match-ups aren’t even next week in WvW, there will probably be a mass drop in WvW participation and a huge increase in living story event participation.

With the current farming potential there is no motivation what so ever for servers to participate in blowout matches.

Is supply mastery worth it?

Much like the actual mastery that increases supply, this will probably be one of the last things I pick up.

For me, IMO, I think it may only be valuable in small roaming groups, and even then it’s iffy. This pretty much wipes out anything T3 and above as if you run around in small groups, your going to get run over within minutes anyway by a bigger group.

Beneficial for low tiers, probably useless for upper tiers, given the vastness of the groups and potential supply available.

Anet has a very simple and easy way to fix the majority of these mass blow outs. In doing so, will probably make the matches a lot closer, and it may even indirectly force players/guilds to change servers.

Turn the PPT off during the hours that time zone would generally be sleeping. Like say 10pm to 8am. Mismatched points.. gone.

People generally play the game for the fights, so it shouldn’t make a lick of difference whether or not the PPT is even ticking. Work done in off hours to maintain as much of the map as they can (and siege it up) is just as valuable during prime time.

If PPT is important to those who are playing and want to be on when it ticks, change servers then, simple. You’ll probably find the server populations naturally balancing out.

Anet.. make it happen, you’d solve so many problems over night by doing so.
