I also like the new functionality of the overall legend. I also, however, agree with most other people in that Embrace the Darkness needs to be buffed and Unyielding Anguish needs some smaller changes.

I think I might use the new Mallyx in my Power tank build instead of Jalis. I now don’t need the corruption trait line and it should be easier to get out of sticky situations involving conditions. We’ll see.

Most of the damage in this build comes from Roiling Mists and 100% fury uptime. I prefer builds that can take a little bit more of a beating, hence Retribution rather than devastation. I still get some decent ferocity from rage runes though.

I’m not really too fond of Shiro. The dodge is nice but the heal, phase traversal and elite are wasted on me since I prefer to spend most of my time at max range with more solid and reliable healing options.

Jalis heal helps with conditions along with vengeful hammers and RotGD is occasionally used for a stunbreak and support. Road and chain are a bit useless but here’s hoping they get some improvements.

I would only really use sword/shield if I’m forced in to close combat, I need the shield or my opponent is particularly susceptible to an UA.

Hammer is fine. It’s very well balanced in my opinion.

Half the community says X part of the revenant is overpowered. The other half think it’s useless. The truth is that very few things about this profession are still broken. Stop complaining.

No? You propose huge buffs across the board to a class that’s already overpowered. Jalis and Ventari may need a slight bump, Herald needs to be nerfed, several cooldowns and damage modifiers need to be nerfed, e.g. Coalescence or Ruin.

Nothing needs to be nerfed. Some of the changes he’s proposing are a bit absurd though.

After further looking into it, Embrace the Darkness seems to be the skill that caused it.

Didnt refresh the post guys but thank you for the response. The revenent i was fighting keep the elite up for 10+ seconds, is this normal? Should the elite have a cool down? From what i can see from g2skill editor is that it doesn’t.

As a class that could claim Condi King in another life, i am very jealous of something as powerful as that.

It doesn’t have a cooldown but it does cost a lot of energy. Don’t worry. It’s not really feasible to keep it on for too long. He’s also only applying all those different conditions because you presumably applied them to him. That skill would be a lot less powerful if you applied fewer conditions.

Unrelenting Assault is fine. Its been discussed to death on other threads and the consensus is that there are lots and lots of ways to counter it.

I agree that Unyielding Anguish should not affect those with stability.

It’s usually fine for me. I sometimes fall out of range but we have quite a few gap closers that should make up for it. Even Forced Engagement can be useful for this, believe it or not.

UA won’t get changed. It’s fine.

Otherwise the changes will probably include:

- Buff to Jalis chain
- A tiny buff to Jalis road
- Buff to Crystal Hibernation
- A few changes to Retribution
- Maybe a few changes to Salvation

I can’t see anything else happening. As far as I know, this is all that really needs to happen. It’s very close to being ready.

That’s a weird one.

It kind of seems like you’re wasting devastation. You don’t have any precision so that ferocity trait is a waste. That downed skill is not that great and swift termination is better than assassin’s annihilation.

Enhanced Bulwark is still a good option in this build. I have noticed a few more ccs landing on me since I switched to Elder’s Force.

I don’t know what the rest of you guys have been doing but I’ve been testing out a variety of non-Herald builds and they work fine. I like my Herald build better but non-Herald builds are still at least viable.

It’s been okay for me in 1v1 when the other person had no cc. You can cancel by swapping weapons. I know it’s not ideal but it can be done.

Not sure if you have tried yet and just can’t. But as soon as I hit f1 I am able to hit any of my utilities and they work. The animation may be there but the swap is instant.

I’m perfectly fine with my energy usage. I never run out.

I guess it could depend on your build. You should never run out on Glint though. Make sure you don’t use protection with too much else and don’t use might and fury at the same time if you can help it.

We are in no way forced to swap off cooldown. Believe me, a few weeks ago I was asking for energy boosts too but it really is fine if you just think about what you’re doing.

So I did a pvp game with a rev Mallyx/Brill, we were doing 2v1 (War/Engi v Rev) and 3v1 and it was impossible to kill it, he was most of the time full life and he even applied a lot of condi, impossible to cc due to an insane amount of “immunity” “stab” “block”, seriously guys do you even test your stuff internally before doing a beta or do you just move number and wait to see what will happend?
It had a better sustain and damage than a D/D ele.

1: When not using Mallyx, conditions will destroy a revenant.

2: When using Mallyx, CC will either destroy it or force a legend swap in which case, refer to number 1. If they have that much stability, it means they’re using retribution and probably corruption as well. They can’t be doing that much damage. The only really good block is on the staff. Shield 5 is a suicide button. Offhand sword is just bad. Hammer block is for projectiles only.

I’ve killed quite a few revenants today with reaper. It’s possible I was just fighting newbies though.

Elite is still a bit slow but definitely usable.

Taunt sucks. It’s just kitten.

Inspiring Reinforcement is just not worth using. Not anymore.

Vengeful Hammers are fine.

Heal is fine.

When I use Jalis I just go: RotGD, hammers for a few seconds and then heal if I need it and then swap out. I never use the taunt or the road.

The boons are fine. It’s very easy to get perma fury and a kittenton of might.

I keep the healing and fury passives on during combat. Activate nature twice on cooldown in combat. I mostly double tap swiftness unless I’m out of combat. Generally I don’t use darkness for stunbreak, I just swap legends. I double tap the elite too unless I’m really in trouble. Remember it’s an aoe damaging launch with almost 0 energy cost. I like using the elite.

Some traits could definitely be better but I really don’t see what anyone’s complaining about with the Glint skills.

If you’re not running Mallyx then yes. It’s abysmal.

Other sources of condition removal include:
- Jalis heal
- Purifying Essence (Ventari 2)
- Riposting Shadows (immo, chill and cripple)
- Sigils (Generosity, Purity and Cleansing)
- Runes (Lyssa, Hoelbrak (-20% duration only)
- Ventari light field with the physical projectile from hammer

Why is everyone always picking Runes of Rage? Wouldn’t Scholar be better? You already have perma fury with Glint and you get 10% modifier from Scholar instead of 5%. You don’t see Rangers running Runes of Rage when they have perma fury, they go for the Scholar ones too.

Rune of rage is to achieve perma fury.
Having perma fury on Glint means 50% uptime (at least if you don’t plan to stay on glint all the time, which is a bad idea). With rune of rage you just need 10 seconds in Glint to stack enough fury to keep it permanently in the other stance, even if you pick cleansing channel. You also get pretty decent fury (or permanent fury with the other trait on healing) if you don’t have Glint at all.

Also permanent 5% damage is pretty good. Scholar runes require full health, I never liked it, because you lose dps when you need it most.

Runes of Rage also gives us lots of lovely ferocity. More than Scholar anyway.

It’s great.

The one thing I wold change is Fierce Infusion to Cleansing Channel. It’s so easy to get enough fury that it’s just a waste of a nice, reliable cleanse. It still works though if you really want it.

I really can’t see any gaping holes or anything. Good luck testing it.

Day and Night (important)

1) Remove the timer.
2) Make night significantly darker.
-Near pitch-black when off the beaten path would be ideal.
—Night-vision mastery to compensate.
3) Make ambushes possible at night, but defined paths relatively safe.
4) Make night events more diverse (Enemies spread and attack multiple points one night, enemies don’t attack at all others, enemies mass and march by the hundreds on a large outpost with diverse defenses sometimes, and enemies lead feints on other nights)*
5) Have some events (some playable, some ambient) that occur at certain times/nights that are unrelated to the Mordrem assaults.

This is how night should be handled, IMO.

*While I’d prefer the dragon minions were mindless and didn’t use any real ‘tactics’, that ship has already sailed. :-\

I think it’s reasonable to allow for intuitive speculation. Obviously the more information we have, the more accurate we’ll be in our guesses but so what? They say it’s going to be hard and we might need some defence so let’s just explore some of the current options.

To me, all the last two posts said are: “Never think. Never use your intuition or your brain. Just accept what there is and what there isn’t until we’re told what the new conditions and parameters are.”

I think some of you are getting confused. They said 2 people should try to control the boss so that the rest of your team mates can clear a path to the edge of the platform so that EVERYONE can glide away and then dive-bomb.

The point of a tank is to try to hold aggro and remain alive. Whether or not you remain alive through CC, healing, kiting, dodging, invulnerability, negative damage modifiers or blocks doesn’t really matter. Just hold aggro and stay alive.

I’m sure a a few people on any team will still be able to run full zerk. It just won’t be optimal all the time for everyone. We don’t want to completely destroy the need for any zerk builds. We just can’t have every single person running it.

How to get Legendary armor outside of raids?

Some of the components for legendary armour should definitely only come from raids. There should also be some components that come from things like WvW and map completion and casual play.

I don’t understand. Nobody seems to complain about the components for existing legendary equipment that you can only receive from WvW and dungeon tokens? I really don’t see the difference.

Some people are complaining that this is way too similar to WoW. WoW has a VERY different system. To get some of the mounts for example, you have to get the best gear available (to avoid being shunned), spend hours/days finding some super-elite tanks and healers and then spend about 50 hours trying to get that incredibly rare drop.

For Gw2, you show up with exotic/ascended armour, play with whomever you like because anyone can play pretty much any role as long as they’re not imbeciles and that’s pretty much it.

The basic principle behind raids is you just run around and kill things with your friends/team. Ultimately, isn’t that what the whole idea behind 99% of the game anyway?

I’m not sure how a condi tank would work exactly. Mallyx seems like a very offensive legend but I’ll give it a go.

Unfortunately, I just don’t see how this one would work. The way I see it, with conditions on revenant, you have to invest everything you have in offence. I mean look at what I wrote. It’s nonsense.
You could also go with Shiro but you’d just be replacing a taunt for a stun and a 40 energy stunbreak for 30 energy stunbreak while Shiro has a lot less defence overall.
You could also go with Glint and try to play tanky with facet of nature, light and chaos but it’d just work way better for dps than for tanking.
One more option is just using a mace/shield as the second weapon set for the first build just for that very little of condi + the fire field (for might stacking if you have no ele or berserker). Ultimately though, the sword is just better for CC and survivability.

It’s hardly overpowered.

If you’re a condi build up against Mallyx, there are two things you can do (off the top of my head anyway):

- Use boon stripping. Engineers, necromancers and mesmers all have access to boon stripping. Just make sure you destroy their resistance.
- Make sure you use your condition spikes and bursts when they’re out of Mallyx. Eventually, they’re going to have to swap legends and when they do, you’ve got 10 seconds to rip out their intestines.
