Dude, was this at Cliffside? I remember a ranger jumping off the wall and me smacking him off the cliff, although if it was you, I don’t think you would have died – you were pretty much at full health. Matter of fact, it was probably your fault that I even remembered that, as a ranger had shoved me almost off the cliff from the wall not 30 seconds prior to that. That was probably you as well. xD

I just want to tell Kain thanks for the badges. I chalked up 50 of them today, I did not want to stop until I got that 50th. However you are safe from me for awhile, I need sleep but I really have to ask you, if you train that much how come it takes 4 or more of you to take me down? Second question, how can you run so fast when the odds are not 4:1 in your favour? It was priceless when only 4 of us recapped Gods when you had not only the NPCs but 6 Kain as well and a ballista aimed at our doorway. However you had to save face so brought your zerg over and portal bombed our doorway. If you really require some training give me the time and place and send out 4 of yours to meet me. I will train them to respect HoD!

haha that was alot of fun commanding the attack on garrison in HOD bl tonight. we had atleast 9 trebs up, we got close :P but props to the defense from Kaineng. it was an awesome fight, really intense. next time though the garrison is mine :p

That fight was EPIC. Holy schmoly. I should have been in bed hours ago, couldn’t tear myself away. I can’t recall how many times you guys melted the Garrison walls, on both sides of the keep. Awesome job by both servers!

Run solo, dude. Guaranteed to run into roving bands of HoD or GoM folks. Tends to turn out pretty badly for me most times, but I’m getting good practice at 1 v many skills!

One of the things everyone needs to get past is the discussion of WM or DE or whoever, like they’re not part of Kaineng. The quotes of “you’re only winning because of WM” make me chuckle. WM IS Kaineng. DE IS Kaineng.

In the past few weeks, I’ve fought in plenty of battles with DE and WM, and I’m not in either guild. They welcome me to stand beside them, the same as I welcome them. They’re a huge benefit, I’ve already learned a ton from them, and I look forward to the future fights!

Personally, I have absolutely nothing against DE. Glad you guys are here, glad WM is here. I’m one of the original Kainengs that you refer to here, and I can tell you, posts like these aren’t going to win you any popularity among folks like me. No need to post this negative junk – if people are whining about you being here, just do the original Kaineng thing. Grit your teeth, get through it, and all will work out in the end (and yes, I’m proud to have survived the DR onslaught with my WvW passion intact).

Hey Light! I was at Bay with you for a few hours last night, and I appreciate the info. Not to make excuses, but Kaineng hasn’t had a need to really worry too much about anything other than zerg and small group tactics until now – either we’ve been completely dominated (when DR was in T8 with us) or we completely overrun our competition with sheer numbers.

Your recommendations are noted, and we have some really good commanders who will, I’m sure, take them and work with them. I realize that you’ve only been here a short time, but I’ve already seen where some of our exemplary commanders take the time to teach WvW tactics to the masses of us that really don’t know any better (Krit Hit from [WM] comes readily to mind, although he isn’t the only one – just the one I’ve worked with most recently).

Bottom line, we’re getting better. Thanks, and GL as you return to TC!

I am confused, when did they fix zerker for us? I didn’t witness any patches, and I find that my zerker often still misses 100% of his second attacks.

Nothing has been fixed as far as I can tell at this time and frankly I still don’t care for the reduced damage on zerker, but I am glad that it is a functional enough weapon that I can use it if I have to.

Edit: After further thought the damage on zerker is decent as it is, but it’s the missing that makes me feel as though it had a significant reduction.

Weird, I can’t reproduce the misses that you mention here. I have yet to see my zerker miss at all on the dummies, and I watch for it.

Why are you stressing out? WvW is supposed to be fun. You have to realize it’s a game, and because there’s a dance emote people are going to use it. There will be trolls everywhere, and you can’t take it personally. You just take what you can get and roll with the punches. Christmas has come and gone and there are many new players. Kain will be moving up so you will have time to develop your player base. If you’re outnumbered just take as many as you can with you and enjoy the ride. There’s no reason to stress or say it’s “harder than your job.”

I originally tested it on the dummies and found no difference. I tend to stay ranged a lot so im not collecting the stacks from blade typically, and the raw damage of spatial surge at 900+ seems to offset well enough.

Ill test it out again though!

It’s been awhile for me too, like maybe three weeks or so. I’m not on the game at the moment, but iirc, normal zerker CD (with the illusions line 20% redux) is like 16 sec. With the GS trait, the actual CD goes to 12ish.

Edit: So, CDs on zerker (again, iirc)
Standard, no traits – 20 sec
5 pt illusion trait – 16 sec
Plus GS redux trait – 12 sec

I don’t think you can get it from WvW – all the invader stuff is pow/vit/tough. I got mine from the karma vendors in Orr, at the temples.

I dont really need the reduction in skills, as the only skill it helps with really is Mirror Blade(it doesnt seem to shorten my izerker CD). With the Clone on dodge i never have a shortage of clones up for my Wracks.

It doesn’t reflect in the tooltip, but it does affect your zerker. Cast it on training dummies with the trait and then without and watch the CD. Wonky tooltips ftl.

I must be missing something here. How are you not focused on condition damage with prec/tough/cond gear? That is a full condition damage spec. Even with 30 in Dom, without any power gear your direct attacks pale to the potential condition damage you can put out, especially in wvwvw.

My opener:

GS4 zerker, GS2 clone and 2 might stacks, dodge into opponent for clone, Frustration shatter with retaliation (8 stack confusion, 12 might stacks), mirror img,.dodge into them again, mind wrack for another 12 stacks of might and 4 confusion. With 25+ might stacks, that whole combo does a ton of burst even without power on gear. Plus, bleeds/confusion, and now I’m swapping to staff to wait on CDs to come up again.

If you run a WvW shatter spec, I would recommend you try it. Works quite well, for me anyway. I like being able to do good dmg regardless of whether I’m at range or in melee.

Kiting, indeed. Chasing down runners, mostly (since we all know how blazingly fast our beloved mesmers run). And the spec I run is still a shatter spec – I just find the extra conditions (bleeds/burns/confusion) hitting harder makes opponents go down faster than the extra meh% crit dmg that I’d get from ’zerker gear.

I agree that the staff clone would be better if I was focused on condition dmg, but I’m not. The staff itself is a good weapon, but the GS deals dmg much faster. I’m not a big fan of fights where I’m running around for 10min to get the win – I’m more of an in-and-out, leave-the-bodies-behind player.

Also, should add that everything I stated is for WvW rather than PvE. Although melee is more than viable (S/P or S/S or S/F or whatever), I simply prefer ranged. And for ranged combat, you just can’t beat the GS imo.

Agreed that you don’t NEED condition dmg – I think we all know that all of the whining about mesmers being unplayable, yadda yadda yadda is just that – whining. A full on burst shatter spec is plenty viable, as is a full on condition build. As I stated in my original reply, though, I find that when my initial burst doesn’t down someone (like a bunker or something like that), I feel that harder hitting conditions work much better. It feels like my play is much more well-rounded now. Need burst? Yeah, I can do that. Need to slowly burn someone to the ground with conditions? Yep, I can do that too.

I run a GS/staff setup primarily myself – since they fixed the zerker, it works pretty well, especially in Wv3. As far as armor goes, I’ve been running with prec/toughness/condition gear along with the earth sigil on the GS (for the bleed). With the shattered strength buff, I felt it was time to move past straight burst, since if I didn’t down someone with the burst, I wasn’t able to do much. Now, with the condi dmg, the staff swap isn’t just a time filler, it seems to be pretty potent on its own.

Granted, the burst is more limited now (although still quite potent), but confusions/bleeds/burns hit much harder, helping with those pesky thieves and bunker builds. Just seems more well-rounded to me.

Well WvW IS a from of war after all. Information on enemy movements are a part of that. I scout because I’m too curious for my own good and have gotten dogpiled numerous times.

I think you need to scroll up a few posts. Apparently, according to the post, someone transferred or has an account on their server and was feeding info on commanders’ positions and basically heckling them. That’s just plain weak, stupid, and makes our server look dumb.

Your type of scouting is expected, encouraged, and honorable, dude. xD Exploiting this free transfer stuff to gain info for our server by being on their server isn’t, and it shouldn’t be tolerated.

Aberrant I like you reply, I do get badges very slowly in WvW and only use the puzzles as way to get them faster. Once I have what I need I can enjoy WvW with out having to go for badges.

Just enjoy WvW now. Why wait? It’s pretty fun if you don’t get wrapped around the axle and think you lost the game because the other team killed you – and also if you don’t get too focused on loot drops.

Believe me, as long as you remember to pick the daggone loot bags up, the badges will come. :-)

I had a big laugh when Kain had something like 680, so me and 3/4 other people went to Langor in EB and started upgrading. We setup siege just waiting for the massive zerg of Kain. I was expecting around 10-15 people really. Wow was I surprised! You guys brought at least 25, likely 30. It was funny watching you guys fail at the gate, then setup 4 catapults instantly (at least 20 people ) and then have them all go down. It’s too bad we cant defend against siege on the keep walls, that’s the only way you guys couldve gotten in.

You guys had Langor set up really well. There wasn’t a way to hit it directly, so we set up trebs, smashed a wall, and took it. Love the sarcasm, but the word that actually applies there is tactics. Why would we continually go up against your great ballista placement head on? The answer is, we wouldn’t… And didn’t.

Zerg tactics is where we just stand at the gate and autoattack. Trebbing a wall… Not the same.

I like this first suggestion. Right now, GS3 is rarely used – this would make it more useful. Think someone also mentioned making it more effective against siege – that would make it more situationally useful as well, without making it OP or unbalanced.

Well, technically, this isn’t true. Your clones do like 1 dmg… Add 15% to that (which probably does happen) and you still get 1 dmg. Bottom line, other than annoyance, this point is close to irrelevant. No offense meant, but I’d rather have Anet focus on big problems vice small ones like this.

I hear you on the frustration, but to be honest, it’s quite a rush when you have two (or more!) groups duking it out in there, trying to jump, race to the top, and not die at the same time. I find normal JPs quite boring, but the WvW ones rarely are. I wouldn’t mind seeing them get their own /map channel though – they don’t have alot to do with tactical discussion on whatever map they’re a part of, and can be quite distracting.

So, spent the evening in FC’s BL… Major props to Fergs’ Borderlands New Year’s crew! You guys had us hopping between towers on either side of garrison like it was going out of style, alternating a few garrison hits in the mix. Non-stop running and fighting and running and fighting and… well, you get the point.

Not that I’d do something goofy like this (and to be honest, have no clue if you’re ET or FC or who you even are), but the commanders on both ET and FC have their crap together and do a really good job. I wouldn’t mind logging over to your server to pay you the compliment directly, but meh… would rather deal with the chaos that you create for us on the battlefield, rather than see your name in green. ;-)

Agreed. The T8 spirit that kept matches fun is definitely not gone, and ET fits right in to that.
