I’m not trying to be a jerk, but it sounds like I understand your point exactly. This is a military-style scenario … fair fights are not part of the game. If you’re not comfortable with that, WvW might not be the right place for you, which is fine as it is only a small slice of the game. It would not be great for the game to lose a dedicated player because they are playing a part of the game that’s not a great fit for them.

Excellent explanation, simply brilliant. If you’re outnumbered in WvW, you should expect to be roflstomped. Simple as that. The game shouldn’t be tweaked to make you stronger just because you’re at a numbers disadvantage. Pick your fights, know when you should disengage/run, etc. If you end up in a bad position and get stomped…. Pay your repair bill, learn from it, and drive on.

It’s so funny… What do we want to hear? I think it boils down to this:

“You’re right, we got hit pretty hard on on reset, we’re going to be working hard on NA organization and including our pugs so we don’t get owned when we hit real tier 2 matchups.”

Then do just that. Don’t get worked up about perceived insults. Don’t feel the need to prove that you did just fine. We get that you won and as far as the ability to put points on the board as a server, Kain > DB & Mag. No one is disputing that. But we saw some weaknesses that are going to cause you problems down the line.

+1. Some of us have been saying exactly that. We’ve been learning, and the education on the battlefield has been greatly appreciated. I’ve only been on Kain BL this week, but I can say that things have changed quite a bit in the last couple of days – sieging stuff up, holding it, leaving defenders, etc… Although all of that happened to a limited extent previously, it’s become the norm now due to the tough fights that Mag and DB have brought. Fun week.

So, thanks for the WvW education in game…. Now if we could do something about the forum warriors…….. On BOTH sides. xD

So, awesome night on Kain BL – pretty decent showing from everyone. Had some fun fights at Foghaven – DB, you guys really wanted that place, was a guaranteed fight every time we went there. LOL Then, had a three-server slugfest at the crossroads between the two south towers and the south supply camp – I think DB won that one, they definitely got the camp.

To top it all off, finally got to see my old buddies from [PRO] at that same three way, even got a happy snap of you guys! I was the mesmer that kept trying to suicide through you from the south while you were distracted by our folks from the west. Woo, missed you guys from T8! :-)

All in all, pretty good night, had alot of fun.

It didn’t really live up to the hype. And will probably be several more weeks before they find a challenge thanks to the shuffle. Also coming out of this result and with the new system, Mag is looking at -14 rank drop, is that the biggest in the history of the game so far?

Agreed, this week didn’t really play out as well as I had thought it would. Mag has amazing tactics and organization and do well, but they only show up for about three hours out if every 24. DB is much more consistent and their defense is really good.

I’ve appreciated the chance to learn from each server, and although we still have a ways to go yet, we’re making progress I think. Too bad the score reset is going to happen – I’ve found that as long as I ignore the forum trolling, this matchup has been pretty enjoyable for me.

Wanted to toss a specific howdy out to the folks from [iLL] – you guys were a real pain in the backside yesterday on KBL. Was really fun trying to nail you guys down, and made my day when I got to spike a few of you (after you had killed me at least half a dozen times – no chest thumping here, you guys work really well together). Appreciate the challenge.

Remember 2 of the guilds that made up the bulk of Kaineng’s T8 fiestiness are now on Dragonbrand for 2 months… DB has plenty of people from back in the day when Kaineng was stuck in T8 with DR and Fergs. We dont need history lessons we were there. We’ve been using the old T8 Kaineng strats on the new Kaineng 2.0 and its funny seeing all the new Kaineng falling to tactics that we developed while on Kaineng when Kaineng earned its rep as a tough little cookie.

Sorry, not a complaint at all. An observation. And as for beating it – it’s very effective small-scale. We used to give Devona’s Rest fits at single points on the map. Thing is, we still lost overall, because we didn’t/couldn’t do enough anywhere else. Kinda like what’s going on here.

Edit: We used to even make the same excuses… No talent zergs, only numbers, we win when it’s equal… We still lost tho. I learned early on in my WvW career that excuses don’t win.

1) Because they lack the talent to do so. The thing about a PvDoor Server that has escalated the ranks rapidly by playing in dead matchups, is they dont know what to do when there are players actually defending an objective.
2) It is very satisfying for all DB players that have fought at Kaineng’s Hills to know that they have blown almost 100g worth of golems there and havent even got close to taking it. They have even busted down outer and inner and couldnt get in the Lord’s room and they had twice our numbers at the time.
3) It is the only keep on the entire WvW map that has not flipped since reset. We have owned it the whole time. I’m thinking of starting a journal of all the great battles we have fought there.
4) So what is the plan kaineng? The golem rush with 6 omegas that got squashed wasnt enough, need some new tactics!

That being said, holding a single point on a map, nothing else, and sieging it up to where it’s very difficult to take is straight up T8, last place, moral victory “I can’t do anything else” tactics. Believe me, I know – that’s exactly what we used to do back in T8 when we couldn’t do anything else. We lost everything else on the map, couldn’t hold it, but by golly, we weren’t going to lose everything! Just like you right now.

As a pioneer of the old days of Kaineng, when the score was only 40k for Kaineng for the whole week, I know a thing or two about playing on servers with a low population.

Might want to check your facts. Even in the dark days of T8 and last place, Kaineng never went below 100k for the week. Think your memories of your Kaineng days must be fading.

That being said, ET is a great server and huge fun to fight against. Classy opponents and great strats. Hope ET gets what it wants as a server.

I only comment on the zerg because it’s something to comment on, nothing more, nothing less. Every game with open world pvp has them, it’s a fact of gaming and I accept it. It’s just fun to tease about. Besides that I know full well that as a solo or duo roamer that I’m going to run into much larger numbers often, and I’m ok with that. My buddy and I laugh at it in voip in scenarios like I mentioned where we were trying to ninja down a wall at veloka from the backside and the WM horde came through and smeared us into paste. We know it’s going to happen and we giggle while trying to just cause a bit of chaos in the few moments we’re still breathing.

TLDR: It’s all in good fun bro, don’t take it seriously. I have fun, hopefully you’re having fun too.

(except when I’m griping about the lack of self sustainability issues on my warrior, that part actually annoys me… even though I stubbornly keep playing him day in and day out. XD)

Ok, point taken, the closer the score the more dynamic the “macro” strategies become…all you had to do was go to the few points they still held and engage.

Maybe the quality of some individual fights were good….but it is clear you outmanned your opponents in the majority of your engagements.

We have a different definition of “best” for WvW I guess.

Oh, I’m a solo/small group roamer for the most part – but I see your point completely. Still, this week was alot of fun, even though the large scale strategy wasn’t there. CD and the Benders’ fighting spirit is far from broken, and we had a bunch of really fun, large-scale fights. They didn’t really matter as far as points go, but I learned early on (when Kaineng was dead last in the rankings) that I didn’t really care about points, winning or losing. I cared about the fights – and CD and YB brought those.

That’s my definition of a good week. :-)

I’m thinking you must be one of those people who look at the score and evaluate the match that way, armchair quarterback style, because you obviously haven’t been part of our matchup. You should probably read the matchup thread – we’ve been fighting YB and CD, and we collectively have had a ton of great fights this week. I’ve seen plenty of posts from all three servers saying the same.

YB and CD aren’t helpless, nor have they failed to bring the fight this week. They just don’t have the coverage to show points on the scoreboard.

So, yes, it was a good week in WvW.

Not trying to create drama, but you do realize that you get a buff when you’re outmanned on a map, right? I mean, we have more overall numbers, true enough, but assuming that we constantly queue every map at all times is just a little bit goofy.

Yes, we have had the unmanned buff at times – more than once on YBBL. I know it’s a crazy concept, but it does happen.

Just to clarify this statement – to my knowledge, this was never anything but talk. Every time CD and YB took a keep, they earned it and deserved it through well-fought battles. Although participation during the week may have been low from Kaineng, we never gave anything to anyone in order to manipulate the standings.

Overall, this has been a good week imo. Our forum made it to today without a single mod lock, and I’d like to think that just about everyone involved had fun at some point. To both CD and the Benders – you guys are great opponents, and I’ve learned alot from you this week. Haven’t seen a post for fight club yet, but I’d imagine there will be one tonight – looking forward to seeing you guys there!

I wonder how confusion nuke builds work so well, considering how “completely unreliable” confusion is.

Not sure if I’m fully understanding the tone of this post – seems sarcastic, though, so I’m going to go with that. :-)

Against a savvy opponent, all confusion does is control their actions for a period of time (not a bad thing, but definitely NOT killing them). A confusion nuke build works really well when you have a button-masher – against someone who understands confusion, all it does is lengthen the fight.

And yes, the confusion damage from Cry of Frustration is completely nullified by running away – if you’re counting on confusion to always do tons of damage, you’re likely in for a rude awakening or two, my friend. ;-)

Back on topic – I’ve seen it posted a few times, but the bleed change to the trident appears to be a good thing to me. Having consistent dmg output (rather than waiting for an opponent/mob to nuke themselves) makes trident work better IMHO. Still, would be nice if the changes would make it into patch notes somewhere…. Bueller? Bueller?

Kaineng is a toddler with tommy gun. At least that is how a lot of tiers that spent weeks getting badge farmed feel. You cannot even keep your crap together when you are winning. I think the server will eventually mellow and clearly there is talent on it, but to start spouting about spirit is a little early.

Can’t argue with most of your post here – as a server, Kaineng has a bunch of growing to do. The only part I take issue with is your assessment that I’m “spouting about spirit” early. Quite to the contrary – Kaineng may not understand the intricacies of advanced WvW tactics, we may still be ironing out communication issues, etc… The one place I think I can speak with considerable authority is exactly where I “spout” about the spirit of my server. I take pride in the fact that I’m not a transfer. I don’t look down on the people who moved here, but I understand what my server went through when we were the doormat of WvW in T8.

That spirit isn’t dead. It isn’t gone. It’s still there, stronger than ever, and [WM], [CO], [RISE], [RE], and all of the other transfers are a part of it now, too. Do we have a long way to go? Sure. Is there a chance we may completely fragment and fall apart? Absolutely, can’t argue with that either. When it comes to spirit, though… I know EXACTLY where I’m coming from.

Maguuma was handed Tier 3 because last match the other 2 teams simply did not even log into WvW for more than an hour at a time. We belong in t4 with Kaineng and whoever else because we both have things to learn before we can function effectively in the top 3 tiers. Our commanders know this, but our pubbies don’t seem to know what’s the actual situation.

I always enjoy the Maguuma folks’ posts; humble and honest. This sums up the Mag and Kain situations well. We have alot to learn yet, and it’s going to take a bloody nose or two to teach the lesson. I really hope we get the chance to learn from Mag and DB before we hop to T2…

Faithleap and Sunnyhill in CDBL just now… holy schmoly, what a great time. Back and forth, siege everywhere (to include the supply camp)… LOL What a great time.

Trying to keep us at just low enough points to stay in T3 instead of T2…Don’t wanna completely miss the chance to fight Maguuma and DB. XD

We’ll get our chance – as our server stands right now, I’m not sure we could stay in T2 for any length of time. We’ll likely bounce to T3 as our server gets blooded – we have a ton of fluff right now that still thinks autoattacking doors does alot.
