Loved the old world female Mesmer armor. I’d prefer to run around in tights then a skirt.

I usually play after 9ish PST (America).
Coming back to the game after a long break and need to relearn how to Mesmer! It’s all confusing again lol.

I’m not a role player but having a house was a fun in other games. It’s like wearing outfits (wanting the personal touch). It was fun to decorate with collectibles (gives you something to do other then quest/pvp), sort of set yourself apart from the clones. Show off to friends.

I tried the prefreset, from what I can remember it reset the log in information (if you have it set to remember), and in game preferences (sound, video, etc).

Though I had the same issue, and tried everything under the sun…in the end I had to wait for CS to fix it. I would start a ticket, and try the suggestions as they have worked for others.

I’ve tried it all.
Uninstall/reinstall the game.
Deleting the local dat file.
Repairing.
-prefreset.
Rebooting the computer.
No attributes are set to “read only”.
Someone even suggested try guesting in a low population server, yet there never are any when I can log on.

Hoping for a fix soon.

For any of you having character specific crashes please submit a support ticket so we can assist you with this issue. In the meantime, please try the following:

Please go to your shortcut for Guild Wars 2 and right click it and choose properties.

In the line that says Target, add a space at the end of whats there and then -prefreset

It should look something like this: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -prefreset

Click apply and then ok.

Once the above is done, try launching the game and logging into the character you are having issues with. If this resolves the issue, go back into your shortcut again and remove the -prefreset line.

Beyond this, there really isn’t any troubleshooting that we could suggest to resolve this issue as it’s not an issue with your system as it’s only affecting one character.

Thanks for the suggestion, I’m having the same issue and so far only got an automated reply about it being a known issue.

Update: This did not work for me.

I have the same issue. They’ve told me it’s a “known issue and they are working on it”. Though I wish they would hurry it up, I want to play that character.

You have to wait for a CS to do this, I had the same issue when coming back. Spamming them with tickets though will not make it happen any faster.

I’ve been having the same issue, and received an email saying that they are aware and trying to fix the issue.

I tried guesting, but not during off peak hours. I will try this and cross my fingers! Thanks for posting what resolved it, instead of just saying it was fixed.

Comcast is my ISP provider.

Thanks Inculpatus, I checked that link. I did the most of it last night before I uninstalled then reinstalled the game. I tried the “read only” suggestions, and nothing was set to read only. I removed the dat file.

What the other person says about the map not being available anymore makes the most sense. All my characters load and play just fine, except for this one, in this zone. When loading it originally says Labrythine , then Gendarran, then labrythine…at which point the game crashes.

I have contacted a CS and hope it can be resolved. None of those steps worked.

Trying to come back to the game. Uninstalled and reinstalled it last night. When I log in and it’s zoning into labyrinthe cliffs ( I think it’s something to that name) the game crashes. I can still hear the game music in the background, but I get the error report.

Update: I can log into my other characters, just not my 80 Mesmer, who is trying to load into that particular zone. It shows Genadrian Fields, then the labyrinthe…then crash.

Sorry if I’m spelling all the zones wrong, it’s been awhile since I’ve been in them!

Either the weapon in those hands are broken, can’t be used so you lost the skills; you unequipped your offhand weapon, or swapped it with another weapon.

No white hair here, red. I think white hair looks cool, but not when the majority have it, then you look like a clone.

Started off with Norn – love tattoos, and not being a stick female.
Asura – Wanted to try being small. Love their humor and intelligence.
Sylvari – Wanted to try another race.
Human – Female medium teir 3 armor.

Human female. I also have a Norn and Sylvari thief, but not past 40. I spotted a human female in the tier 3 armor and was sold. Took awhile to make her though, not a fan of most human female options.

On utilities that say “gain x upon healing” does it only work when you cast the heal, or would it work on signet of malice, every time you’re healed? Thanks.

I disagree. Every other mmo stealth can be permanent, and cast anytime out of combat. Here it is short, timed, and relies on other abilities. No one complained in other mmo’s that it was to powerful. But here all of a sudden it is?

People just don’t like getting their tush handed to them by another class, so cry nerf. It happens in all class threads, and a standard forum topic in mmos lol.

Not sure the going price, but Fog is a good replacement for white.

Asura is fun, I like the story and how they talk. But as a female…I don’t enjoy running around looking like a boy. And the hair options lack.

It took me awhile to make a human female I like, that didn’t look like a little girl.

Surname is the same for all characters: Kelioa. Tried to make something that sounded Hawaiian.

It’s displayed next to your name, other people see it. It shows the guild you’re representing.

Alt click the item to break up the stack.

I don’t recall the default buttons to remove the ui for a screenshot, it is in the options menu though.

FOV I’m not certain.

New to warrior, with a few questions.
1) Browsing the post your build thread, 90% use rifles rather then bows. Is there a reason for this?

2) I didn’t see anyone post an axe/axe build. Any suggestions for a good one (pve, mostly solo). Using mostly shouts/signets.

which is most/least popular, which has the most interesting lore/characters (no spoilers please), etc. (i am a casual RPer and a Lore Junkie if that helps any)

I’m pretty much set that my first character, regardless of race, is going to be a Shadow-Stepping Thief with dual pistols(or at least a Pistol and a Dagger in the offhand, if thats possible). I liked the Assassin in GW1, and thats what I am shooting for, except with GUNZ.

(incidentally, as with every MMO, there is a supreme abundance of Rogue Types, and no healers right? or are the classes pretty balanced here?)

I’ve tried every race except Charr. My favorite are the Norn and Asura story lines. Asura are intelligent smartkittens, which is fun. Norn are proud and tribal, which is interesting. Sylvari is to innocent/child like to me (but I like their animations) Human is well..human. Their story of struggle is good, their city gorgeous, but I see them everyday in the real world lol.

There is no dedicated healing class in this game, every class can do this.

It’s great for voice, because this is separate from your computer speakers. There are cheaper websites that sell this headset, just linked that one. Easy to set up, just plug into your usb, and adjust the microphone settings in your computer, then the voice program you’ll use. You can also unplug the usb and use the 2.5 mm jack.

As elsbeth said, video games are out to make money. Everyone working for that company needs to get paid to keep a gaming running.

If they were so greedy, they would charge a monthly fee. Instead you by the game and play for FREE. The gem store is entirely up to YOU to use. If you think they’re greedy, stop buying stuff. I, personally, buy stuff because I love the game and want to support it. I want the developers to continue adding and fixing this game and I understand they can’t do that for free.

If you’re seeing all that from the gem store, all I can say is wow.

21 Necro, 26 Mesmer.

I tried Necro first, but got tired of the pets poor AI and dying so fast. I realize you can run without them, but imo that’s the point of a necro…minions. Also, as others said, it’s condition damage.

Love my Mesmer. You can range and/or melee. I can take down mobs w/o taking a hit. It’s challenging but fun because you don’t spam 1 button. Currently I’m going staff and s/s.

From looking at traits, etc I would think Mesmer would be more supportive. Shields, portals, conditions and boons (plus removals). Though Mesmer doesn’t have the aoe a Necro has, which makes it tough in events to tag alot, but I still always get gold.

Mesmer can be ok as a long ranger nuker, though mobs tend to aggro towards me anyway (unless they’re ranged). Then I just change to the melee weapon set and slice away at them.

I missed all the big events because of life. And I missed the Halloween one, same reason. Yea, it sucks, but kitten calm down. Your comment:

No one is forcing you to spend this time looking for a group.

I agree with 2 out of 3. My pets survive pretty good. It’s just annoying they can’t dodge, and attack while moving. It also sucks when you use their aoe, with it’s delay, only to have the mob run the other way. It’s a waste of aoe.

I agree, down with the butterflies.

The best time to dodge is when you see them start the animation, not when it actually lands. This could be why they seem to be hitting you, when you’re behind.

You can go to other zones and level up some. Go to cities and discover all the points for xp. Or try another area in the zone with lower lvl mobs.

You’re not doing anything wrong, just finish the zone you’re in. The personal quests pop up in areas level appropriate FOR that quest.

If you want to just do your personal quest and not anything else in game, go farm mobs.

You can purchase a bank temporary access from the gem store, and there is an option in your inventory to send all materials to the bank. Otherwise, nope.

I disagree. Everyone wants to be worthwhile, not just hardcore players. And a casual player isn’t someone who just doesn’t have time. There are many reasons people are casual. I, for one, am casual because I don’t want to rush to the end of a game. I’ve played plenty of hours trust me, I just take my time and explore other classes.

I don’t have to have the best weapons armor. I don’t have to have everything maxed out. I don’t play this game as a job, I have one. I’ve been in hardcore guilds and didn’t like having to be ready to raid at such and such time.

I don’t revolve my life around a game, that’s what makes me a casual player.

My Ranger is 59. I don’t pvp so don’t know how they are in that area. In dungeon’s I did great, just stow your pet when you’re not fighting anything…they tend to stand far from you and will aggro stuff. I can solo Vet’s super easy, Champs I can’t (those of equal level). Tried longbow, but prefer shortbow, axe/axe.

My Mesmer is 27. In my opinion it lacks in aoe, but that doesn’t affect myself in events. I’m always getting gold. Soloing vets is easy once you learn how to play. I was downed sooo much before I watched a few videos. Completely changed my gameplay, I rarely get downed now, and can take on much more. But again, I don’t pvp so can’t answer those questions.

Mesmer damage, imo, lacks until you get a few trait points going, get good weapons and learn how to play. It takes more then mashing 1 button (which was pretty much what you did on Ranger, imo). It’s more diverse, I think.

Weapon swapping opens at 7. Traits unlock 1 point per level at 11 (or is it 10?). Skill point slots aren’t level based, but based on the skill points you have.

Nothing special unlocks at 20 that I can think of off the top of my head.

My first Mesmer was a human female, loved having a red mohawk. But it drove me crazy that I looked like a stick. Went to Norn female (already had 2), I don’t look like a stick, and have a tattoo. I have a sylvari Ranger, but I don’t like how they look running around in skimpy armor.

Still miss the mohawk though.

Trying to find the other cloth pieces, but google isn’t turning up any results. Not finished with the zone (halfway) but haven’t found any other pieces yet. Not on TP either. Any ideas how to get these? Thanks.

I’ve been using gs a lot, but in caves where you can’t get the max distance for more dmg, I swap to s/p. Still trying to figure out how to keep clones up…any tips on this?

castlemanic.3198: no idea what you’re doing different. The mob always seems to stay on me while the Rogue does it’s job.

Monad.7210: I know nothing is wrong with being downed, just saying it happens a lot. Especially in caves where it’s tough to dodge.

Only thing race affects is certain traits that races get. It doesn’t affect your stats or anything else.

As for the best builds for a class, try the class forum section, usually there are stickies for builds.

There’s only one /g so I don’t see how to chat in multiple guilds.

Only lvl 15, and I’ve never been downed so much on a character. This isn’t an easy class like Ranger. I gotta dodge and weapon swap a lot…and often dodge into more mobs and have to run!

But I gotta say…I love it! The challenge is fun and I’ve come to love my Phantasmal Rogue…no matter how many times I’m downed, I rarely die.

Is there an option to continue the quest? I think it’ll open up after the last quest for the orders.
