Yes please, don’t touch my Longbow. kitten it feels good to have that 1,500 range in WvW and PvP. I don’t think any other profession has access to this much range.
Engis do with nades.
Oh ok, I never tried playing Engi for more than lvl10 so I wasn’t aware of that. But then if we take in consideration the Radius effect of Grenades vs Barrage, Longbow has a longer range than Grenade Kit. It’s still just one skill though…

I used to play a GS mesmer mainly before, but that was only because everyone recommended me to do so. I felt like combats were flat and repetitive. Just a chain of the same skills, always. Plus, I could only deal damage, I was really limited.
Now it’s been over 4 months that i switched to Staff as my main weapon, and I just absolutely adore it. I’m using Rampager stats almost everywhere except some soldier and rabid here and there.
Staff is just so much fun! I can deal a hell lot of damage to multiple enemies, keep up melee teammates at minimum 5 Might+Fury and pop some Aegis on them with Chaos Storm. I also use Runes of Lyssa with a Signet of Inspiration, so I basically give my whole group All Boons for 5 seconds every 90 seconds with Mass Invisibility.
What’s also really cool (as OP said) is popping skills 5 and 4 on a downed ally and Blink to him and get him back on his feet without a problems.
I run lvl49 fractals almost every other day, I think it’s considered as high-end content, and i generally receive positive feedback for my performances.
Rampager has no stat for survivability, but staff’s skills compensate for that, so I rarely get downed. Of course it’s not an easy gameplay, it takes a lot responsiveness and concentration, but hey, isn’t that what mesmers are meant for? I’m quite glad about my build, actually, because I know I have a unique style of playing.
I don’t know about you, but I’d never trade my staff for a greatsword. Ever.
’nuff said

Carlotta was Shadow’s pet (Shadow was a Ranger in the Shining Blade). I guess she died, and came back as a ghost! Like those references that only GW1 players will get :p
I’m a RPer, and I do RP with the character on the screenshot below, and i think her armor fits the mesmer-noble look of Divinity’s Reach. Some may think it’s kittenty, I say it’s mesmerizing
Maybe he plotted with Palawa Joko, Mad King Thorn’s eternal rival. Again, remember Joko was an Lich who controls the dead, and Prince Edrick has a passion for death too. So he brought shame upon the Thorn name by befriending with Palawa Joko, maybe. That’d be actually cool if they introduced Palawa Joko in the story, and then take us through the Desert Gate near Ebonhawk, cross the Cristal Desert and go to Elonaaaaah! And then kill Palawa Joko, or be friends with him, depends on how the situation goes!
Okay, i went overboard é__è
9/10 for that Realistic face. He looks experimented in whatever rangers do!
Here’s my Mesmer, Mirajane Anderson <3
EDIT : I added a screenshot from the character selection, she looks slightly better on it
(edited by Djahlat.9610)
No, it’s because your game is not “really” on ultra. Don’t know if you noticed, but there is a (normally) uncheckable checkbox in your graphic settings that’s named : “Hi-Res character textures”. ANet disabled it because it provoked crashes on some computers, but it’s possible to get it checkable if you modify your GC parameters. Here’s a screen of what MY character’s hair looks like in-game.
And then, i noticed it’s not 100% as high-res as in the preview, but it’s closer than anything.
Because I’m a Roleplayer and :
-It’s way easier to build a human character’s background when Human lore is much much more deeper than any other’s
-Cultural Armor + Hounds of Balthazar (+ Prayer to Lyssa Animation. It just rocks ok?)
-Armors fit them better
You can inspire yourself off my own armor if you want. PM me in-game if you want the actual name of each piece!
I just really like the “Noble Masquerade” look, it totally fits mesmerism!
EDIT: In-game name : Mirajane Anderson
Mirajane Anderson
“The secret to being a good Mesmer is to make sure trivial things like “reality” don’t get in the way of the things you want to do."
Who ever said Chaos were to be used moderately?
I got an Ascended box with Rampager stats. I’d like to change the stats, but i’m not complaining either. I’m usually the most unlucky regarding loots and drops, so i’m satisfied
Sorry for double-posting, but after searching a bit more on the wiki, I’ve found the exact same runes, as seen in the attachment. According to the wiki, they can be found in the Catacombs (as you have noticed), the Underworld and the Hall of Heroes.
And if you observe correctly the runes in the circle, they repeat themselves. They have nothing in common with Old Ascalonian, but the 1st, 3rd and 5th runes seem to be the letter Q in Old Ascalonian, but that’d mean the word is “Q…q…q” which is most probably not what it’s meant to be. I think that’s as much help as I can provide you. If you manage to decipher the meaning of these runes, don’t forget to post it!
I can’t zoom in close enough to read, but it’s definetly translatable, since Old Ascalonian is a simple runic alphabet (meaning you only have to replace a Rune with a letter to decipher it)
(Seeing Ascalon Catacombs and “Necromancer Munne” brought up tears)
In the attachment, the alphabet is shown as :
line 1 : ABCDEFGHIJKLM
line 2 : NOPQRSTUVWXYZ
Well, since the Nightmare Court Sylvaris are born from the Pale Tree just as the regular Sylvari, it means all Sylvari are Mordremoth’s minions. The Nightmare Court probably just answered to their real master, Mordremoth, and regular Sylvari and the Pale Tree were heavily influenced by Ventari’s Tablet that preached for peace&love, which would be the reason why they are “good”. Just my 0.02$
We are still looking for active WvWers who wanna kick some vizunah kitten
Guess that’s not possible anymore since you guys are no match for us and are faaaaar behind us.
Hi,
While I was completing my Caledon Forest exploration, I dropped a Refugee Child’s Drawing from a simple spider hatchling. I am 100% sure this was not supposed to happen since you get this item only by accomplising 75 Acts of Assistance (which are relied to the Flame and Frost living story).
Anyways, it was just to point out that there’s a “bug” in the loot table.
Date/hour of the “problem” : 9:05 PM (UTC-5:00) (i don’t know, it might be helpful)
If you want to get technical, Jennah saw a mass of dark clouds with lightning and felt a mind in it and tried to delve into it only for a backlash and realizing it was an Elder Dragon. So she doesn’t necessarily know what he looks like – only Destiny’s Edge truly does.
But if i remember correctly, Queen Jennah created an illusion of the dragon flying past Ebonhawk to fool the dragon’s minions and make them follow the illusion.
So… I don’t really thing you can recreate something you haven’t seen. Unless illusions shape into different forms depending on the thing/person that’s watching it.
Have any clarification on that?
Here’s my Ranger, Rhys Anderson
Head : Krytan armor (Gem shop)
Shoulders : Catacombs of Ascalon
Chest : Honor of the Waves
Gauntlets : Caudecus’s Manor
Legs : Tier 2 Human armor
Boots : Ascalon Catacombs
Dyes : Abyss dye, Celestial dye and Midnight Ice dye

You want a quiver? Make one.
I’m actually trying to make one, I only need that kitten Vial of the Mists Essence that doesn’t want to loot! I’m cursed, seriously :/
Other than that, I want the ability to dye those Quivers because a Brown stain over my pretty Celestial Armor is not pretty :/
I’m sorry, but as a Human Ranger, I can invoke my Frost spirit that can accomplish whatever 2 elementalists can’t. That’s a typical Elementalist thing to think you are the bests… Count on me for Lion’s Arch to be as snowy as it can be!
Asuras are so complexed by the fact that they are one of the tiniest races in Tyria that they feel like they must make everything bigger than them and be the main character in every scenario in orded to be considered amongst the others. But, we know Asuras so well ; Tixx will fail an experiment and the other 4 races will have to clean up the mess
I don’t know why, but i feel like the Wizard’s Folly Tower from Ascalon Pre-Searing, the Wizard’s Tower in Garenhoff and The Eye of the North have the same origins, or have been constructed by the same race/person.
Those 3 Towers have always made me want to know more about them!
Yes it is intended, just like you have to do a whole chain of events to access the Arah Dungeon
Bugged on Vizunah Square [FR] too, sadly.
Nevermind, restarting my computer resolved the problem!
Hey!
Since today, whenever I launch the client, it just crashes instantly, without showing anything, not even the Login Screen!
I tried to Execute as Administrator, it did nothing…
Is anyone experiencing that too? And if someone has a solution, I’ll be happy to hear it!
It’s because you’re not in the “Exotic Armors” tab. Look at the left of the merchan’t window, you have 2 armor tabs.
No need to thank me
I was doing my map completition in Malchor’s Leap when I came across this Point of Interest that drew my attention. It’s located in a sort of “cave” and the PoI is called “Kitah Manse” and I remembered that there was a Mesmer Skill named after a NpC that was Kitah’s Burden.
Wiki says that Kitah lived 200 years before the events in Factions (1072) which means she died around 872 AE and the Cataclysm of Orr happened in 1071 AE. She might have died there, but i highly doubt so.
Just a little detail, give me your thoughts on this
Maybe the Gargoyles were drawing their magic from Human Gods, which explains their presence near Gods’ Shrines. And since the gods left the world to itself, they probably needed another source of power, and they turned to the Dragons, thinking they would be nice to them but got all killed at the same time.
Just a theory, don’t bash at me
I’ve found a homeless guy in Claypool – Queensdale. When you talk to the dialog looks like that :
You : Hello
Homeless Guy : Hello, welcome to my house, you seem friendly
You : So… you live there?
Homeless Guy : Yeah, i get an awesome view of the cows
You : You like cows?
Homeless Guy : Yeah, a lot. They smell bad, though.
Well, it is known that Grawls worship a “god” that is in fact an Asura that speaks with a voice-amplifiying device (The Mighty Oooh). And since there are 3 Grawl villages near those Points of Interest, I wouldn’t be surprised if those are some stuff that used to belong to that Asura. Maybe the “eye” was a telescope the Asura used to stalk on the Grawls while confortably hidden in his Cave in a mountain.
Holy Demetra was back in GW1 “Demetra”. It’s where there was this holy fountain that purified you from all your sins. And when purified, you could “hold” the Eye of Janthir, which was an eye that could spot the “Chosen ones” that in fact were potential threats to the Mursaats, and they got sacrified, they souls were captured in Soul Stones to keep the Door of Komalie shut so Titans couldn’t be a threat to Mursaat. And if you didn’t know the link between Saul and the Mursaat, there it is ; Saul wanted to protect Kryta from the Charrs. He couldn’t accomplish that alone, so he “found” unseen gods which are Mursaats. The Mursaats, however, were just using the White Mantle as puppets. Saul found out, and to keep him in silence, the Mursaat kidnapped him and brought him to their country/city/whatever located in Janthir. Krytans didn’t find Saul’s body, so they just made a tomb to his name in respect for him.
They’ve put Trahearne in 1st place for the same reason they’ve put Prince Rurik, Master Togo and Kormir in 1st place in the original GW. For Lore and continuity. Let’s say there is a Guild Wars 3. Do you expect them to have some in-game dialog like this : “X years ago, Zaithan has been taken down by a Pact between the 3 orders. They were led by An Unknown Commander and his co-leader, Trahearne.”. It would make much more sens if they’d put Trahearne in 1st place, because the 2nd character can easily be forgotten.
And Edge of Destiny = Aidan, Devona, Cynn, Mhenlo and Eve
I think it’s even more weird to HAVE to buy them. I mean, when you join the Army, do you buy your uniform? Hell no, they give it to you. Same should be for the Orders’ uniforms.
In Divinity’s Reach, in the Rurikton, near the house of a minister, i think it was Wi’s… There are the descendants of Alesia, Stefan, Reyna and Orion. They had the same family name (Elek, Baptiste, Sandor and Baruch). Alesia’s descendant is a Guardian and all the others kept their professions. It drew a smile on my face
All I can say is that everything’s in the Lore. For example : the story of the Ebon Vanguard, which you can read a part there !http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Founding!
People outside of the city have to deal with Centaurs everyday. They kill their kids, torture women and make the father of the family watch this.
In GW1, there was this big disease that appeared in Cantha, and turned people into Afflicted which you can compare to the Black Death.
GW1- Medieval
GW2- Neo Victorian
Plus, everyone’s far from being rich. You have the option to make your character come from Nobles, Middle-class or poor people.
And, i’d like to remind you that Krytans are the only humans on Tyria. They have no contact with Cantha nor with Elona, so they might be the only survivors of all humanity. It’s way more than a story of “Dude, u touched my hair cry I’ll kill youu”
And you’ve got to see GW2 like the neo Victorian time. As far as i know, Guns didn’t exist in medieval.
Heum yes it does have something to do with your personal story.
For me, in the Durmand Priory Storyline, when i had to defeat a champion of Zaithan, i passed through a ritual wich transformed me into an avatar of the god i chose. In my case, Balthazar. Really awesome skills and appareance.
So yup.
It probably has something else to do with them, I just don’t know yet.
