As to another point you made. The ritualist spirits were made from lightning. Guardians have zero access to lightning. Guardians make everything they do out of a blue white or flame.
Oh. My. Kitten. God
I’m sorry but after that i just can’t take anything you say seriously
Props for making me spit out my tea while reading though
I really wouldn’t be surprised if the next thread OP makes is about the lack of sexual assault in GW2.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
Or something like “Why aren’t signets items since they’re just runes that hold magic in them so that even non-magic users could use them, makes 0 sense to make them skills ermergehrd”
Shark: Sharques Cousteau
I high-five myself for knowing who Jacques Cousteau is
Drakehound : Barkimedes (after Archimedes)
Hyena : Lyss Ilya (the two names of the deities that compose Lyssa, because Hyenas duplicate)
Raven : Desmina (after Grenth’s first follower)
Pig : Iggy Azaelia
Eagle : Freedom or Murica
That’s a topic that would fit best in the Lore section of the forum.
Nonetheless; I do agree that there wasn’t particularly any reason why these were here in the first place, which would add to WoodenPotatoes’ theory about Pale Tree Corruption (Basically, the Pale Tree is spreading its “corruption” just to “override” the existing corruption so that it can’t be corrupted anymore [/tinfoilhat])
Not to be a kitten or anything but there’s a thread specifically made for this type of feedback
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/Beta-Weekend-Druid-Feedback-Thread/first
Yes I was aware that printing was a thing before, I just didn’t know it was that accessible though, my bad I guess :p
So with the LA update, I keep discovering stuff every now and then, but today something I saw really has surprised me. It’s a printing machine. Yes, the Order of Whispers has had them since (at least) the day the PC joined an Order, but the one I saw was small and wasn’t used by the Order of Whispers. It was more of a typewriter actually. This means that Printing is spreading through Tyria, and since it’s been a catalyst in Real-World History, I thought it was somewhat relevant to mention.
Really nice touch added by the devs, concerning the technological progression of Tyria, in terms of anything that’s not meant to be weaponized.
Notice how weird the typewriter is. As far as I know, Modern Krytan contains as many characters as the English Alphabet (i.-e.: 26) but there are many more “buttons” on the “keyboard”.
Below are a picture of the Mass-printing machine found in the Chantry of Secrets, the other is the small type-writer found in a Consortium building.
Just wanted to read your thoughts on this.
I have a feeling next ES will have a 2H spear, because there’s no more weapon they can logically give to Warriors, so they’ll have to make a new one.
And I’d love it. I’m thinking melee 2H Spear with the Physical Utility skills from Warrior. Could work as DPS/CC with one or 2 ranged CC, the rest is close combat utilities.
My ยข2 on Druid :
Staff #1 is in a good spot but could use a burn, especially when doing solo content. I’m thinking “applies burn if no ally is healed through the beam” which wouldn’t make it too aggressive.
Staff #2 wouldn’t change it, except maybe give it synergy with fields, like either a Projectile finisher or Whirl finisher (only for the first 0.5 second though , not full duration) (would also synergize with Wisp on Self when using Healing Spring, for water field finisher)
Staff #3 I really like it, just fixing range to 1200 instead of current 1000 and also make it finish casting when reaching destination, as other pointed out.
Staff#4 I’d like to see more clearly the range of the line, maybe replace the target mark by a big rectangle that actually depicts the range.
Staff#5 I get that projectile mitigation is good, but the healing isn’t high enough to bring over other reflects or Smoke Wall that can be blasted for stealth or blind with a projectile finisher.
Celestial Avatar Form: I absolutely love it, I think the rate at which Astral Force is generated is perfect, but only on Staff. Need to nerf down recharge rate on Revive Healing and Troll Unguent. Oh and a Poison on #2 on implosion would be much appreciated.
Glyphs: did not really care to bring over Core Utility Skills, they need to be overhauled.
Other than that, I’m really liking the direction that Druid is taking, good job
Elite specs were introduced to compensate for the flaws of some profession. Druid because Ranger lacked group support and CC. Scrapper for a melee option, etc. People feel like Tempest is underpowered because there isn’t much to improve in Ele to begin with.
Also, Elite specs are not meant to “upgrade” your effectiveness, but rather to provide you with another way of playing that’s different. What you’re experiencing with Tempest is intended design.
@Daniel Handler.4816: I’ve been following this thread for a few days, and at this point I’m really trying to figure out whether or not you’re trolling, here and on the other thread you created (for reasons I seem to not be able to grasp, since it is so similar to this one). If it is, it really is well done.
If you’re not, then all I have to say is that I agree with Konig. Really feels like you’re trying to make your arguments fit where they shouldn’t. Like trying to make a triangle fit in a circular hole.
@Daniel : Schools of magic are not a thing anymore, it’s been officialized as a false belief by Angel McCoy I believe.
That is an oversimplification.
Schools of magic no longer exist. However each profession still uses the basics of their skills and twists them slightly. This is why we have solo professions.
It was also explained that while blended magic does exist it is rare, especially because people seem to be operating at the phd level in magic. So anything that the guardian performs is a result of what preservation magic when blended with paragon arts can obtain. The power sources should be the same.
First, you’re mixing game mechanics with actual Lore. It’s totally possible for people in Tyria to have multiple professions, but, as a dev said, it would be impractical as it would reduce yojr efficiency in your main profession.
Second, the one and only magic that was officially categorized in a school of magic was Elementalism in Destruction. Anything elsenis pure speculation.
@Daniel : Schools of magic are not a thing anymore, it’s been officialized as a false belief by Angel McCoy I believe.
Since the beginning of the game, you’d sometimes get different dialogues from NPCs depending on your race.
It would make absolutely 0 sense lore-wise to make other races hear Mordremoth.
I think it is a design worthy of a genius
I prefer simple Whispering too. That way, you get to actually reply with a nice “Thank you” every time, and sometimes get to make a friend. I’m pretty modest usually, but I gotta admit I’ve got pretty got taste when it comes to Character Customization. I’ve met a couple of friends that way, so I’d like unexistent system to stay unexistent
I spotted Gaile twice in-game, she’s super nice and actually answers to whatever you have to say!
I think it’s important for Staff members to make appearances in-game, just to so that players are reminded that they’re not those All-mighty unapproachable emotionless entities, they’re people like each and every single one of us. And I think Gaile does a very good job at it. Very modest and kind
EDIT: too bad they didn’t give her a special Frog pet skin. Back in GW1, she always had one. “The Frog” was her icon, like you’d associate Balthazar to Fiery Hounds lol
(edited by Djahlat.9610)
Wings do, as well as any Bow-user that doesn’t have a quiver. It itches my eyes so bad
Just wanted to add my voice to it. I recently made the weapon and I was honestly left with a very bad taste in my mouth. It doesn’t feel Legendary. Merely a fancier Black Lion weapon skin with swapable stats. The footprints are barely noticeable, if they are even triggered which is not all the time unlike other legendaries.
A for effort
I would suggest to anyone making this weapon to hold back until it gets the modifications it deserves. It currently is not worth all the sweat and time I invested into it.
Omg imagine if Rytlock, while wandering in the Mists, came across them and proposed a treaty of peace to Mai Trin if she helps the Pact by lending her fleet or something.
NPC’s don’t really have clearcut professions like we do. I’d say they dropped the label for NPCs and gave them the ability to be whatever they want to be
I think they named it Scrapper because they managed to recycle the broken parts of the Pact Fleet when Mordy went ham on them. I really like the name and find it perfectly fitting imo
EDIT: Also, specialization names are nothing but names. For your personal RP, you can call your elementalist an Aeromancer if that’s what you want. Name your Berserker a Brawler if it makes you happy. Or you can just choose that your “Scrapper” is still considered an Engineer. Tbh I plan on calling my Ranger a Warden once Druid is available.

Scarlet is the only person we know who had a mobile working teleportation device.
Didn’t Snaff develop one too? The pocket hole or something, which Logan later used to abandon his team and go save the Queen during the Ogre Revolt
Just a theory : is it possible that since they have enough willpower to detach themselves from the Dream, they could just as easily resist Mordremoth? After all, they are all about free will and independence.
Also, if ever the Pale Tree were to fall to Mordremoth, they would be the last Sylvaris to stay uncorrupted.
Just wanted to point out that Mai Trin and her crew of Aetherblades also found shelter in the Mists.
The Tengu believe in a Sky Above the Sky, which sounds very similar to our understanding/assumption of Heaven. Also highly speculated to be Dwayna’s Realm.
Personally, I’ve always seen the Mists like the Spirit World from AtLoK/AtLA, where spirits of dead people are and are ageless, and people can also physically access too. Sometimes, the Spirits leak in the “Real World” when something makes them angry, disturbs their environment or when a portal is left open.
It’s my understanding of it, so I’m pretty sure it’s not a perfect analogy but that’s how i see if
I’d make the autoattack make you gain energy, while you have an upkeep skill active. Enough to extend its normal duration by ~50%. Maybe +5% energy everytime you strike with an autoattack
Yeah, Legendary Dragon Stance (Glint) and they’re getting a shield
I second this so much! And for Rangers, maybe sell new skins for Pets, but make them applicable to certain categories, for example sell a White Tiger skin applicable only on Felines. Panda skin for Ursines. Rainbow Phoenix revamped skin for Moas, etc.
@saalle lol I hope you’re kidding? Ele is by far the most overwhelming class to play, seconded by Ranger because of pet micromanagement. Thief is quite easy to play. Quick fights, no cooldown to worry about, has the best access to Stealth. And basically you roll through your skills until you kill something. With a bit of thinking you can be really good though.
Edit : forgot to mention that you can also decide do completely disregard pets and sit back with a longbow with a ranger, you’ll get most things killed efficiently, but it’s the type of gameay that’s the most hated on for selfishness when you’re in a group scenario

I think ANet didn’t really want us to make beta characters that didn’t get their Elite Specialization yet. They want to get as much feedback as possible concerning the new stuff, so I’m guessing they’ll put more efforts into Ranger once Druid becomes available to beta-test
Also Legendary Centaur stance does not add special effect on the forearms of the character like all other stances
“By Ogden’s Hammer! What savings!”
-“Your face is funny. All squished and weird.”
-“No, your face is funny. It’s like a little raisin.”
RIP old Lion’s Arch.
(we should find another way of calling it like that, as Old Lion’s Arch is the LA from GW1. Probably Lion’s Arch V2 would fit better)
Garm is just a regular wolf under the effects of Enlargement (Signet of the Wild)
I’d like to have Griffons as pets, as well as Foxes, a Viper or Anaconda, and a Lion.
Also if they could reskin the Marsh Drake so that it could fit what it looks like on its icon, that’d be great
I think Concussion Shot is good as it is, it’s a skills that’s meant to interrupt, therefore it requires strategic use and should be saved until needed. Adding Confusion to it would make SB a “roll ur fronthead on numpad” weapon, not sure you see what I mean x)
but the Crippling Shot suggestion is good, imo. Maybe just 1 next attack instead of 2. That way you slow ’em down, and they get hurt at the same time
Tired of relying on Trait Runes for Torment (plus, since Entangle is the go-to Elite for PvP, it makes it kind of a stupid choice to put immobilize + torment)
I’m also pretty sure i read somewhere that the Charr believe Melandru is the one that shaped Tyria, or created it.
Melandru’s the coolest god of the whole Deities Pantheon if you ask me. She’s the oldest of the Six, she’s revered by many other cultures (Charr, Quaggans, Centaurs and others that I can’t think of atm) and she’s got these super cool wings
This is hardly the end of the world is it? So, some lucky person gets Revenant armour skin for a few months or whatever? Apart from temporary bragging rights, theirs no harm. And in 6 or 9 months (or whenever HoT drops) we’ll all be able to have it – until a week later when we all get sick of looking the same and change it anyway LOL
I swear lol y’all need to take a chill pill x)
It’s only an armor skin, are you that jealous?
I think making it a survival skill and pairing it with SoTF would make the cooldown way too short. Considering a build spec’d for Boon Duration, I’d be tempted to say that could lead to some OP raging. Plus we already have an Elite skill that’s a Survival Skill : Entangle.
RaO is considered a Pet skill, and currently is the only one in that category. I’m guessing ANet had plans to make utilities in the Pet categories, maybe they’ll introduce them with Druid.
I’ve always wondered what happened to Thorn Stalkers, so maybe what we’ve seen is an evolved form of a Thorn Stalker… They were found in the Maguuma Jungle in GW1, so why not?
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Thorn_Stalker
Yeah I run a similar build that solrik mentioned in PvP, and sometimes in PvE (it’s quite frustrating to run a condi build in group because of the condi cap)
And my weapons are Shortbow/Sword+Dagger, with sigil of geomancy on the dagger, poison duration on the sword and sigil of earth on the shortbow.
Pretty versatile against anything, until you do group content (dungeons and fractals are fine as long as you’re the only one that’s focused on conditions, else its pretty useless)
I second what nephrite says. I run a condition/traps build with shortbow/sword+dagger, rabid amulet and krait runes. Heal as one, fire/snake traps and Sic’ em and Entangle. I rarely lose a fight against thieves it’s quite funny because I used to be as scared of them as you are :p
Well from what I remember, there’s two versions of Humanity’s origins on Tyria. The first being that they came from a portal located South of Cantha (not west as OP said), the second being just magically spawned around the Artesian waters.
It’s implied he may not have been working alone. At the same time though we shouldn’t base a character on their perceived class. Game mechanics don’t necessarily equate to story elements 100% of the time.
Exactly, like when we see Rytlock Brimstone using a pistol, and normally, warriors can’t do that. Or that Norn in Ghosts of Ascalon (Gullik I think) who handles a two-handed axe which don’t even exist in the game.
The Lannisters send their regards.
Westeros in GW2 confirmed!!!1!!!11!!!
I like my ranger very much, in fact, it’s my main and I have played a little bit over 1,900 hours on him
The ranger primarily uses physical combat, but augments it with a little bit of elemental magic.
We also know that Rangers can summons Spirits of various Nature aspects (Water, Frost, Sun, Stone, Storm, Nature itself, and that’s not counting the ones from GW1) to affect the environment that surrounds them.
Not only that, but in the skill animations, let’s say Maul (GS #2), you see a “Spiritual” bear mauling your foe, and I like to think that as the Ranger actually summoning a Spiritual Bear to strike, or as a Bear to lend its strength to the Ranger for that strike. The first would be more logical, because if we consider Swoop (GS#3) and Serpent’s Strike (Sword#3) both have effects that could hint to a Spiritual animal being summoned to enhance the attack (Swoop : You see an eagle grabbing your character to make him leap. Serpent’s Strike : You see a serpent biting your enemy, and afflicting Poison on the latter).
And there’s also the Charming method for companions. They radically changed from GW1 and 2. In GW1, you had to use Charm Animal which would magically turn the animal into your servant (aka : pet) and in GW2, you just come close to your Juvenile future pet, and press “[F]” to “tame” it.
The GW1 approach does seem rather “cruel” as in crushing the animal’s will with the ranger’s, but it is the most plausible from the two ways. Then, if those methods are purely game mechanics or canon, I guess a ranger has an emotional bond with the animal, rather than the animal being a mindless servant
You can make your pets larger for 6 seconds by using the active effect of Signet of the Beastmaster, it’going to make your wolf as large as Garm. If you trait it, it’s going to make you bigger as well. Fun times in LA for the whole family
Well, about the gods having other “replicas” of themselves in other Tyrias, don’t forget that in the center of the Mists, where every time and space connects, there is the Rift. And in that Rift, we can find the statues of our 5 Gods (Abadon/Kormir excluded) so it would just make sense to me to say that the gods we know are the same for all other “tyrias”. Plus, the gods can travel the Mists as they please, and so it would be kinda paradoxal for themselves to exist twice in the same “place” since they are the masters of their domains, and their power would be like… Kinda like getting an error message because you are trying to rename a file that’s name is already existing in the same folder
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure elementalism was brought by the Jotun before they went on a civil war before the last rise of the Elder Dragons.
Cultural medium T2 chest armor has a Shining Blade pin on the belt, I noticed it today, it got me soooooooo happy for some reason, I was always fascinated with the Shining Blade ever since Prophecies! I’d also like to rp a member of them, so if you’re on an EU server I’d be glad if you could send a whisper/mail so we can organize some rp stuff
