Someone with a large guild should just run down there for a bit one day and see. It would be fun to see if it is still in the game.
lol.
My point about buying gems is a counter to the “Anet needs to make money on their game to keep it going” argument. It makes sense to me. I hate to talk about money and how much I’ve spent, but I’ve spent quite a lot here, more than enough to cover a lifetime of expansions.
Gems are for “extra” stuff that is not included with the base game (fluff, etc.) or for convenience because you don’t want to wait for stuff included in the base game.
Every MMO that I know about has Expansions that people have to pay for. Even WoW which not only do you buy the game but also pay a subscription still has expansions that you have to pay for. Of course if you want to wait you can get it for cheap or maybe even for free if you wait until the NEXT expansion. But its not exactly unusual to pay for an expansion.
I don’t really understand people being upset about paying for content – if Anet doesn’t make money, the game will be shut down.
As for HoT being worth it, I don’t enjoy the HoT maps as much as I enjoy core Tyria but I think it is worth playing. I was disappointed that they didn’t give us a full set of new Legendary weapons, and would have waited to pay less because of that, but I’m still not sorry I purchased it overall.

The event for Lore Seeker Zolin to go for the Skelk Regurgitant will not occur until the Teku Nuhoch Meta Event has been completed.
The skelk spawns on the platforms in the center, he warps around the different platforms, but will disappear if the chak gerent has started.
Thank you.
So the time window is after all the outpost Teku Nuhoch events are finished and before the Chak Gerent events start.
So it seems, the best way for this would be to start on the map at the time when a fresh map begins, try to go on a “meta map”, do all the Teku Nuhoch events, then start the LFG to get more players, and after that try do convince my fellow players to do the escort event and afterwards kill the skelk.
Good luck to any new players who want this achievement (and many others on these maps).
The thing is more about wether AP is a feature aimed at completionists or a daily reward track. If there’s no daily AP cap, then there are a lot of collections and different permanenet achievements which are not worth the effort AP wise.
I agree that this is one question. There is also a finite number of achievement awards. Assuming the game goes on for a number of years from now (knock on wood), there will be more achievements added with new content.
I personally think that the Dailies give too many AP. They should have given less AP (1 or 2) which would then stretch out for longer.
My other problem with buying a Legendary would be that I have alts with different professions so I would regret my purchase as a different alt became my flavor of the month.
If you have $250 that you can just spend at one time on a virtual experience, that’s great for you. That amount of money is close to what I would spend on entertainment for a whole year so I couldn’t justify it personally. Nor would I want to miss the movies, etc.
All that having “meaningful” racial skills does is make certain race / profession combos almost mandatory as has happened in many other MMOs that make race have powerful features. One of the biggest ideas of this game is the ability to style your character as you want. With the removal of the “play as you want” mentality, I would not like to also see the “look as you want” mentality nerfed.

I suspect it is something like the Jormag collection which needs either a special item
I HATE the Jormag item. I have done Claw of Jormag a large number of times and still not received the item. If this collection is going to be like that tell me now so I can simply not bother with it. I used to have a character parked at Earthshake. Gave up on it now.
Coming soon? What the hell Anet? Should I even be excited about it!!?? I was waiting for 25 days to get the full collection and now you go for this ugly tricks…
What “ugly trick”?
Well the collection with a coming soon piece…so we log in every time hoping for it, timegates after timegates…. that’s even not needed ‘cause if people will probably be interested anyway into the new primordus weapon or armor piece to complete the collection…so why put the timegate?
It’s a way to tease the players that doesn’t work.
Spreading out content over time is very common in GW2, that’s how you keep players from consuming all the content at once. This is normal and not some “ugly trick” lol.
Gathering is very irritating in the HoT maps. If you happen to be solo, its can be very difficult to get around the mobs in order to simply get some resources. If you find a WP or Wallow with a bunch of nodes relatively nearby, make a note so you can simply find it again.

- Never buy gold from a third party and don’t accept it from those who do.
With your help, we can do our best to reduce the annoying chatter and, coupled with not supporting their business through spending, will have a significant impact on the company. Thanks for your help!
just a quick question here, how do we determine if someone is sending us gold that was purchased from a gold sellers site? its not like we have a transactional history showing where his/her money came from. Of course we could just ask them… and they could just lie about it and say it wasn’t from a site? I do JP ports and AB map commands often, and regularly get tips for it. Does this mean that my account is in Jeopardy if someone sends me a tip with gold bought from a site?
You would be surprised how many people are friends with players who they know cheat in a variety of ways. Its sad really – cheating would be cut down immensely if the cheaters knew it would cost them friends.

In addition to the STUPID idea that mobs can attack you while trying to complete an adventure, adventures are also clearly very prone to FPS issues. Those who find adventures very easy and who make the videos / guides obviously have none of the issues. Lucky them.
I have the same mentality as you OP. But if you want to work on any legendaries you’re going to have to bite the bullet and form or join a group to farm 500 tokens.
I don’t understand why Anet made Dungeons something that people don’t want to play but we still MUST play them if we want Legendaries. I also feel bad for anyone wanting achievs and other things from Dungeons now that they aren’t popular anymore.
I think that humans seem boring because they are familiar. There are always going to be people who prefer to play a fantasy race in a game because it is new and different than what they are used to. But in addition to the fantasy races I always have at least one character that is human or “human-like” because that is what I actually identify with.
Seriously ? You give us the opportunity to unlock this collection and it’s not achievable yet ?
I just finished crafting them all, and there’s one small, cute, interrogation mark needed to complete it, saying “Trophy, account bound. Coming Soon.”
Not. Happy.
The entire event progressed a little at a time. Not sure why waiting to get the last bit is a surprise.
Hijacking this thread to ask a quick question;
Because of reasons, I was unable to play when Seis was in Lornar’s Pass (location 3) and I seem to be unable to travel there without losing the tracker device. Is there any way to complete previous locations or is this achievement/activity useless to me now?
Thanks
To clarify: you will get a tracker from the NPC in each map. You can’t travel between maps with a tracker.
You’ve got it the wrong way round, some of the precursors are being sold off cheaper than they cost to craft. If you bought them all then the crafting method would not be more expensive. The price of mats goes up and down, if they drop then crafting will become cheaper. If both things happened – mat prices fell, the cost of precursors went up, there would be threads asking why it was cheaper to craft than buy.
I’m guessing that you’re responding to me but I’m not certain.
What I don’t understand is why they made the new Legendary crafting process so expensive. When we first heard about it, I assumed that the Legendary weapon you got from the new process would be the same as what you got from the original process. But the Legendary from a crafted Precursor is account bound. So why did they make it MORE expensive than the original Legendary crafting? An unbound Legendary should be more expensive because you can profit from it.
My comment above is only about how the NEW Legendary crafting is more expensive than the original Legendary crafting method. I would definitely not ask why the new crafting was cheaper – I believe it should be cheaper since the result can’t be sold.
I don’t see the issue: Content providers shouldn’t be shown things that will change the market if they are going to take advantage of that information. Show them that there will be a new crafted item, but not what the recipe is for instance.
As for testers, if they are taking advantage or leaking information, fire them, ban their accounts, and hire someone who won’t.

MORE expensive than the original Legendary crafting? An unbound Legendary should be more expensive because you can profit from it.You can sell Legendaries from crafted Precursors, as long as they’re 1st generation. The Heart of Thorns Legendaries are all account bound and can only be crafted, period.
Right, that’s exactly what I said.
As for the cost, the Legendary Journey wasn’t intended to make them cheaper, it was intended to provide an alternative to RNG or the Trading Post for acquiring Precursors. The new steps are ways that you can incrementally progress towards your Precursor, by crafting some things every day, performing a scavenger hunt, or (similar to how you got the old ones) just by buying things as you need them. Some people prefer having a solid sequence to work through to be guaranteed a Precursor at the end, rather than having to depend on the Mystic Forge or needing to save up hundreds of gold to click a button. It’s certainly helped me make more Legendary weapons!
I never said anything about wanting them to be cheaper, what I asked is why they were MORE EXPENSIVE. Alternate is great, but unbound can be sold = should be more expensive.
I sincerely hope they don’t have any major battles underwater, especially any part of the Living Story. I already fail to complete too much of the Stories.
I will never get why Eir didn’t transform into her animal form and jumped against that vinetooth to die fighting with theet and claws like any normal Norn would have done.
My Asura also said she died in battle. I think it is true, although is more like she died “during a battle” than she died “while fighting”.
I agree with this also – seeing Eir just meekly accepting her fate was lame. She should have been already angry over Faolin’s betrayal – so another attack should have set her off.
Not quite as important, but I was also upset by the change to her appearance in the final cut scene.
What happened to the proud warrior we’ve known throughout the game?
…Memorial, is that when it tells you to “honor Eir however you want”, you really do not get to pick and choose. Talking to the individuals did not up the bar, only carving the ice sculptures, tending to Garm, and putting a flower at her statue were viable to fill up the bar. We do not get to honor “however we want”, in the end.
Honestly (and this would be an in-character thing for my toon), I wish that it could have given the option to drink from the ale (as well as eat food). Getting super drunk probably would have been my toon’s way of coping with the loss, as well as probably partying as a result. Alcohol is all over the game, and is even one reason why GW2 is rated Teen. So why couldn’t we have made our characters drink what we want during the memorial? Norn do it all the time, culturally-speaking.
I completely agree. They should also have allowed you to repeat your preferred activity(s) to fill the bar.
Sounds like it would be helpful if you could go back to a checkpoint in the episode.

You kick or get kicked because someone isn’t following the rules set by the commander, were rude, weren’t contributing, or some other thing the commander or a LT didn’t approve of…
I’ve heard of other, not as nice reasons.
Doesn’t need a fix, since it’s not broken.
The reason it needs crystalline ore is to make it artificially rarer, so that not everyone is running around with it.Why shouldn’t everyone who belongs to a Guild be able to “run around” wearing Guild gear?
It is not just guild gear, it is ornate guild gear. Why should everyone be able to run around in ornate gear?
There is also non ornate guild gear, but I think it is not available anymore (used to come from pvp).So there actually ISN’T non-ornate guild gear. So my question remains: Why shouldn’t everyone who belongs to a Guild be able to “run around” wearing (the only) Guild gear?
It exists, I have the old non ornate guild armors. You could go beg armor to add them to the legacy armor boxes.
I meant available of course… O.o

I didn’t make it, you know, ask ArenaNet. I can only speculate
So you’re just guessing that it needs crystalline ore to make it more rare and presenting your guess as fact?

I’m not sure why you say they are only from LS2. You can get amulets and accessories from Laurels, Bandit Crests, and WvW Badges of Honor as Indulpatus said.
While I don’t understand this type of request, GW2 has plenty of other immersion-breaking items. Since this would be a Store item, this request should have been added to the Store Item thread.
When exactly are the companions ever helpful? That’s the point of me calling them ‘glorified meatshields.’ The key word is ‘glorified.’ Also, please note, I tried to help the OP. Even posted links to assist.
Yes, no doubt, his instance bugged. He said as much after I posted the video. I read it. No need to point it out again.
It sounds like you felt I attacked you but that was not my point. I was simply stating that not only were his Guild-mates not doing anything but his pet wasn’t either. “Meatshield” normally involves something you can use as a shield, so perhaps I misunderstood what you meant by that term. And they often do participate in fights.

I think this could be several things:
First, I think that there are so many trolls on the internet that when many people see a post in chat saying that someone wants to give away something really nice, they assume its a troll. I know I do.
Second, I think that perhaps many people get on the game to do something specific. “Find me” could take a very long time with all the places to hide in a map. Or whatever your challenge is.
Finally, its not like doing your challenge = getting the prize. If 10 people participate but only 1 person gets the prize, people might think there is little chance of them actually getting anything for their effort.
The chance of getting only 9 clover from 91 tries are 0.0001%, assuming the wiki is correct at estimating a 33% and the OP used the single clover recipe.
That is extremely bad luck. If you make ~91 additional attempts, I’d recommend:
- Take a ‘before’ and ‘after’ screenshot of your inventory, showing the mats required (philosopher stones, ecto, obbi, and m-coin) and results.
- If the numbers are similar, create a support ticket and update this thread.
It’s certainly possible to get so few clover in 91 tries and given how many legendaries are out there, it was likely to happen to someone at some point. Still, the odds are horrid enough that, if it were me, I’d do additional testing.
Regardless of whether this was normal, it was certainly disappointing. I’m sorry, OP, that you suffered the lowest reported drop rate I’ve seen.
I completely disagree that the OP should make a support ticket. Things have a very small chance and people run up against that – its perfectly normal. People have played this game for 4 years and never had a Precursor drop. People have put tens of thousands of gold into the Forge and not received a Precursor. That is part of Random and why I don’t use the Forge except to make Salvage Kits or guaranteed recipes.
Its most likely some limitation with the game engine and either needing to give those maps a location in the world or when you leave the fractal instance (outside of the world) it tries to find the correct location in the world to display the personal WP. I don’t think either scenario precludes us from ever being able to go there if Anet chooses to.
Regardless, I wouldn’t expect us to ever go to that area. New maps are likely to be focused around each of the dragons and there isn’t one around there. We already did Mordy and Jormag is further east and the rest are south of us.
The game-map of Tyria should be only that – a map of open-world Tyria. Instances that are not available to everyone should not be placed on that map anymore than the Edge of the Mists should be on it. Look at all of the MMOs that are 10 years old or more. If GW2 reaches that age (and I don’t see why it shouldn’t), the developers will be sorry if they assigned portions of the map to content that doesn’t need to be on it. I don’t know why Guild Halls are placed on the map instead of instances.
In recent days, he now splits into one or two other creatures. Seems he has a red shadow of sorts too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkoRLxWr4uQ&feature=youtu.be
Stranger and stranger. . . .
I wonder what it is that drives this change. Just as we have wondered what actually causes us to see the anomaly in the first place (several people have stated that they don’t even have the HoT expansion), there must be something that people have done in-game to cause them to start seeing this new version of the anomaly. I haven’t started seeing this one yet, still on the original version.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Wizard's_Fief
I am convinced that early in the game I participated in an event where the elementals went berserk and you had to save the town. But no mention of that anywhere now. Did I dream it?
I have seen several threads about Wizard’s Fief but they all talk about possible events in the future that may be implemented here, and the Wizards tower that you currently can not reach.
Was this a temporary event maybe? But then I would have expected it to be mentioned on the wiki as a historical event.
It is obvious that there are many hints in the dialogue that those Elementals may become hostile (or have been in the past).
You are correct: there used to be a “save the town” event (like so many that occur throughout Tyria) where the elementals had an uprising or some such. I played it also in early days. Maybe it was in the Beta and they took it out. Did you play the Beta?
The last couple of days i started noticing that when i place a personal waypoint inside a fractal map when i go outside i find that my waypoint is relocated somewhere around the north part of the world map(nw of woodland cascades). That makes me wonder if the fractal maps are placed there and we just cant see them and if thats the case will these areas up in the north be able to become exporable maps in the future i mean does arena net have the capabilities to relocate the fractal maps.
That’s very interesting. AFAIK, Fractals are “Fractals of the Mists” so I’m not sure why a Fractal map should exist in the actual game map. Maybe your WP showing there is a glitch of some kind.
I think that the people arguing that the instance is perfectly fine are suffering from a case of “I saw the answer instantly and therefore it must be obvious to everyone” syndrome. Different people understand situations differently, so what is obvious to one person may not be obvious to another. Telling the people who aren’t getting it that the situation is perfectly obvious isn’t helpful. If enough people aren’t getting it, then it’s not a problem with THEM.
I read what the NPC’s said in regards on how to do it.
I assume you mean the part where Marjory says:
Marjory Delaqua: These bloodstones can draw off the magic if we can catch the shield in the flux.
Marjory Delaqua: The unstable bloodstone chunks drain whatever energy gets nearby.Since (unless it’s missing from the full transcript on the wiki) there are no other instructions mentioned at any point.
I don’t see how that would clear up any of the misconceptions mentioned in this topic. Ok, yes, we know we need to use the unstable bloodstone chunk to “catch the shield in the flux”. But if (like many people in this topic) you’re under the impression that the golems shields were removed because they were standing close to the bloodstone shard or close to you when you used Counter Magic, or when the bloodstone shard was destroyed it will seem perfectly logical that you need to do the same thing again here. Until it doesn’t work.
(Alternatively if I’m completely wrong here and there are instructions missing from the Wiki I’d appreciate it if you could point me to the relevant dialogue so I can add it.)
That dialogue was more than enough. If players missed it then they can always use a little critical thinking
Wow
It’s part of playing games. Nothing needs to be laid out in front of players telling them to do this and do that.
The argument here is that some people are saying that the NPCs tell you how to deal with it and some people either missed that fact or what the NPCs said wasn’t sufficient. You seem to be saying both that what the NPCs say is sufficient AND insulting people by telling the to just use their brains. (Everyone does critical thinking all the time.)
In fairness though, did the dialogue actually say ‘beam’ at any point, or just ‘flux’?
Because they don’t mean the same thing to me and probably others too. If I hadn’t read here how the thing works, I wouldn’t have got the answer from ‘flux’.What did you think flux meant? When I heard flux, I immediately thought back to Ghostbusters
LOL! Yes, that makes everything perfectly clear!
It’s not insulting to tell people to use a little critical thinking.
“Use your brain!” No, not insulting at all.
Anything can be made insulting depending on the phrasing used. You’re re-phrasing what I said in such a way that it comes off as that. Critical thinking is a skill that has great use in game and outside the game. Had it been used towards the Justiciar Adrienne encounter, players would have been able to figure out what to do.
I am very familiar with critical thinking – I do it all the time while going about my life. You telling people to use a commonplace skill assumes they don’t already use it and is therefore insulting.
Some players probably do like the notifications or new players might prefer to leave them for a while. So Anet could add a “never show this again” option to the notification.
I think the ability to hide bits of a piece of armor would be great (arms or belt of a chest piece, etc.).
However, I think that they should add toggles to all of the other armor pieces so you can simply hide them as well. You shouldn’t need dyes or silly “invisible shoe” skins for that.

The post has been updated again. Arenanet, will you respond? Why does no one from Arenanet respond? I don’t understand. They respond to all the silly things that get posted, but not to something so vital to their community?
It’s safer to respond to silly things. If they have no good answer to this issue, it is better not to answer at all.

Well . . . I’m also a ranger, and I mowed through her and every other mob in that instance without an issue. Perhaps, you are unaware of the specific mechanic used to defeat her?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/lwd/SPOILER-Justiciar-Adrienne-s-bloodstone-shield/first
That said, yes . . . the companions are nothing more than glorified meatshields.
Also keep in mind, if you’re a ‘zerker’, certain pets cannot hold aggro if you don’t use specific traits and/or skills. I use Nature Magic, Beastmastery, and Druid. At no time does my pet lose aggro. I used to use Smokescale, but now I use tiger.
To the point, my pet was killing the mob so fast and holding aggro, I had to put him on passive so I could get that cheering achievement done.
Again, it depends on your traits and gear choice. On that note, the bear is perhaps the worse DPS pet outside of wyvern. Might want to switch up and do some reading on the ranger boards.
Good luck.
If you read the OP carefully, he says that the mobs weren’t attacking the NPCs and the NPCs weren’t doing anything, therefore they weren’t even “meatshields”. And he also says:
I am a ranger with a bear which is a tanking pet.
While I was fighting this guy and other mobs that constantly keep shooting at me. my 3 legendary companion were standing right there and my pet get busy with grass.
In any normal situation, my pet keeps the mobs away from me while I pick them up one by one and occasionally heal the pet (because I can’t do it more than once in every 1:20 minutes?).
Anyway no matter what I did, all the mobs were attacking me instead of my pet
Sounds like the OP’s instance was bugged so that not only were the NPCs not at all helpful but even the pet was not helpful. If you have a Ranger build that heavily involves the pet and the pet isn’t doing anything at all (even attracting the notice of the mobs), then I’m not surprised he was having trouble.
I’ve been in many Story instances where it’s like the NPCs aren’t even there except for their comments and its definitely not fun.
(edited by Djinn.9245)
Thanks all – I think in that case I simply wont be able to do it then as I am definitely understanding the red/blue/green distance thing its just that I for example -= follow a blue – it turns to red – I have no idea ( really!) which way to turn next to back track and find other options…at least not quickly enough – the amount of times ive followed a red across an entire map made me think I was doing it wrong but maybe im just not quick enough to try all the options
If there was no timer I would be perfectly happy to take an alt there that hasn’t been to the map before and just amble around but 30 minutes is just not doable for me it seems – oh well I wasn’t relishing the collection I had to do to get the staff so I will just call it a day – thanks for trying to help though
On another note Anet – Dyslexics/Dyspraxics really DO have trouble with this sort of thing a lot of the time – so maybe don’t put it on a kitten timer OK?!
I agree that I don’t see the need for the timer. However there is also apparently a bug with this event every now and then (I have only seen it once). On the Dulfy guide she says “The sensor tracker bugs out sometimes and tell you the sensor is north even though you are on the north end of the map. If that happens, waypoint to a different location and start again.”
