Some of the guild changes are going up 1 hour early according to the official GH thread, which is now.
But the size of the Dl looks like the whole thing. 112,000 files
Sadly, it’s the only way that makes sense from a “stop the bots” viewpoint.
Evil gold sellers would create a zillion free accounts, bot a bit of gold/loot on each then transfer it to their main gold selling account(s) to sell on.
If you need to see this first hand I can point you to the f2p game I played until recently. Sometimes it seemed that the gold sellers outnumbered the players…
…and now am chilling in Elona.
Watch out for those men wearing dresses. They were a bit odd.
As far as the confusion over launch time is concerned, they’ve missed a great opportunity to have the launch on Sunday at 01.00 UTC/GMT.
For those of us in the UK that’s the end of daylight savings time (aka BST) so we get 1am twice. We could have ended up stuck in a time vortex forever.
That other thread clearly states that access to the guild banks will still be available for those without HoT and for those who have HoT but who have not yet claimed their guild hall.
So, yes, is fine.
Tyvm for some great info there.
One more question from me.
Please can you tell us the conversion rate for converting unused influence to favor?
How many influence points for one favor point?
Jokes on you guys, I am already on the Underwater Xpack with Steve (that’s his real name) and am LOVING IT.
What? With Steve The Shark?
Man, I KNEW there was something fishy about that guy.

Anyhow, getting back to the point. I fully support the OP’s right to cry about something that the OP considers to be unreasonable, even though it is not unreasonable.
Maybe the devs will see the OP’s endlessly bitter complaining and take the opportunity to spend the remaining 17 hours before launch reworking the whole game to meet the OP’s short-sighted requirements.
Update:
I’ve just finished the game. I’ve won.
Now I’m heading to the forum to complain that I have nothing to do.
It launched yesterday. We’re all level 90 demi-gods.
Except you.
What? You didn’t know that there was a level increase? Oh….

You haven’t had a HoT experience yet so how can it be ruined.
You are QQ’ing based on a smattering of facts and a whole truckload of assumptions and guesswork.
Yep, forums are always bad places to judge the general mood as they are always heavily weighted towards complaints. The happy majority are happily playing and happily looking forward to the expansion.
I don’t know how many active players the game has but there are really only a handful of folks generating most of the forum complaints. /shrug
Not sure but if you login to your account and buy the expansion from the official online shop it should work just fine. If it doesn’t then support are pretty good with sorting it out or refunding it.

In my defence, the OP did not specify the required accuracy for the timer.
OK, so it’s a rubbish defence. Just mark me down as a fail.
Launch is in “some hours”

Hey. That’s weird. If I click on my link it’s wrong. If I copy-paste the link it’s correct. Something to do with the forum redirect maybe?
Anyhow, yeah, 22.5 hours from now

I’m sure the 200Gb patch will become available for download exactly on time and that I will be the only person trying to download it.
The forum complaints alone will be enough to slow the whole Internet down…..

81 thousand seconds. start counting ’em ;p
6. Queue what you can!
Anything in your queue will be auto completed. This counts for your guild’s currently building upgrades and your items further back in the queue.Hi Dara. My guild had upgrades building in queue which would have completed before HoT release. Checking earlier, the queue is now empty, and the upgrades have not completed.
The log does not indicate any cancellations or completions.
Is this working as intended? Or should I submit a bug report.
Thanks in advance.
If you have enough influence left then get them back in the queue asap and worry about the bug afterwards. 24 hours left…
I really don’t get the “prepare for the new content” thing. The journey is part of the game. Just chill and let it all happen at a natural pace.
I just had a vision of us all wandering around the capital, McDonald’s Arch, with Nike capes, Budweiser swords and Pepsi consumables.
They should do that for April 1st….
I’m just willing for someone to submit a selfie of themselves exploiting something.

It’s the essential truth of all MMOs.
You work your way through the content to earn gear upgrades that would have been really handy during that content.
Wednesday : Anyone who who has not QQ’d on the forum this week can has free stuffz → QQ bomb

You don’t need any of that stuff to do raids. If you do raids and feel the need for better gears/skills, you spend some time to earn those gears/skills.
That’s kinda how these games work, isn’kitten

My suggestion: Calm down and wait to see what the expansion is REALLY like.
In two days time you will have more facts to support whatever it is you want to complain about. ;p
This is a perfect opportunity for a gem store item.
A single use magic stone that will unlock all waypoints in the world map for one toon.
If you want it on another toon you buy it again.
Make it expensive.

I’m REALLY looking forward to Friday. Then at least most of the whiny forum posts might be based upon having experienced stuff first-hand in the game.
Some of you folks seem to have pre-purchased the expansion and then spent the whole time talking yourselves out of liking what you have bought, before it even begins. Give it a chance. You might enjoy it.
Neverwinter has (had?) a nifty “gateway” that would run in a web browser. You couldn’t play the game proper but you could do lots of the admin tasks on your account. The equivalent tasks in GW would be stuff like crafting, inventory management, send/receive mails, TP trading. It also had a mini-game using your henchmen/companions, based on dice rolls. I found the mini-game a bit “meh” but others liked it and you could earn a bit of loot and XP. Of course, browser-based stuff is really easy to automate/bot/exploit so it did cause a few problems.
But, yes, there is scope for a mobile or browser-based GW spin-off. Imagine being able to access your bags, the TP and your ‘H’ panel on your phone. Or having a pokemon-style game using your collection of miniatures (literally a “mini-game” hehe). It all needs dev time though, and dev time is not free. How much would we pay for such an app?
Most games of this type end up with pointless or useless stuff in your inventory at some point. The solution is to have a mostly pointless thing to do with it.
Discarding stuff from the inventory always feels wrong. How about renaming that option “Recycle” and giving us some (useless) “recycler” points. It would be exactly the same as discarding stuff except we’d be able to see a gradually increasing arbitrary points total for our account. I guess you could even attach a title to it if you wanted.
Or, yeah, just let us sell stuff to a merchant for 1 copper per thing, regardless of bound-ness. It will never make us rich but at least will feel as if we are not just wasting stuff.
Well, it seems all I needed was to be told it was do-able solo. Job done. Died a few times. Still don’t like those gorillas though.
Oh, and after the final cut scene on the ship I almost got killed by a still-active tentacle. All the NPCs had stopped fighting and were just stood around whilst it took pot shots at me. Talk about ungrateful…
Thanks all!
Crab Toss is easy. You just run round for a few minutes completely bewildered about what is going on, get occasionally stomped by giant crustaceans and then you get the credit for the daily completion thing. It’s probably more complicated than that if you actually want to win or something…
It really, really, really isn’t a big deal. Some of you folks are just too quick to complain imho.
Give the expansion a week or two to bed in and then see where we are. If you and/or your guild can’t bear to break your routine for that long then maybe you’ve become a bit stuck in your routine.
New expansion. New opportunities. Unknown. Exciting. Good.
Oh no. That makes it worse. Now you are telling me I should be able to solo it hehe.
I’m a staff Ele. Armour-wise I have two pieces of Exotic, working on the rest. But I don’t think armour was the problem. I can kite them probably forever but as soon as I stop to fire off an attack those darned gorillas catch me up and knock me down and then keep me down.
Can’t get back up + can’t fire off any skills = dead
Despite a speed buff I never seem to get far enough away from them.
The one thing I didn’t think to try was killing two of the three then kiting and sniping at the tower. TBH I was so dismayed that they re-spawned after I had managed to take them all down that I lost heart somewhat. Then I googled and hit all the complaints about it needing a group.
I’m a bit of a one-trick pony at present. I drop an earth elemental as a tank then switch to fire and hit, kite and heal until done. It’s served my first toon well thus far but maybe it’s time I delved a bit deeper into all those other skills I ignore at present. I know switching the attunements is key but I just have not really needed to do that so far. And those gorillas just seem to ignore the earth ele distraction. Very unsporting.
I kept getting stuck with a few odds and sods that I think are leftovers from heart tasks. These things are labelled as trophies but are ignored by the “sell junk” vendor button and cannot be salvaged. They confused me for a while but now I just dump them.
I’m kinda cool with the final mission requiring a group even though all the rest of the story has been pretty easy to solo.
But they could have bleedin’ mentioned it!! I spent ages trying to figure out what I was doing wrong.
I got to the bit where you have to take out the three towers. Those gorillas. Brutal knockdown and pummel thing. It’s hard to fight back with a fat ape sitting on your head. After the first couple of fails I figured I must be missing something so I embarked on a whole sequence of different attempts.
Maybe I can avoid aggroing them completely. Fail.
Maybe I just need to kite ’em. This did have some success. It took ages but spawning elementals and wurms as I ran away eventually took them down. Then they spawned again. Fail.
Maybe I can spawn a wurm next to the tower and kite until it has done. Fail.
Maybe if I take out the other two towers some miracle happens and my NPC buddies turn up with a crate of drugged bananas or at least a big ol’ gun. Fail.
Maybe if I wasn’t so rubbish at the game. Fail.
My armour ran out. I quit and tried it all again. Then I Googled, expecting to find a little trick or switch or something that I had missed. Nopes. Turns out I need real people. Real people!!! In MY personal story!!! How rude. Next you’ll be telling me I’m not supposed to solo some mean dragon dude but, you know, I thought I had a whole NPC army to call on. Artillery, tanks, air strikes, the lot. Can’t I just nuke those towers? Ka-Boom etc etc.
I’m not really that miffed. I just thought some of you old hands might be amused at a noobie’s wrong assumption.
TL;DR;
What? I need real people? What is this? Some sort of MMO or something?
Pity the poor noobie. I’ve stumbled into one of those area. I didn’t know anything about that particular farm. Imagine how confusing it is to have so many people yelling at you to take off your armour and then yelling abuse at you when you don’t. I found it funny in the end but it was a bit confusing until I sussed out what they were doing. Still, I stuck around and nabbed a few bags of stuff that is now cluttering up my inventory.
I’d never intentionally grief someone but if I have legitimate business in an area I have no qualms about continuing that business, regardless of whatever else is happening there. If the best maize farm is in a heart location then it might not be the best maize farm…
Yeah, I’ve been throwing them into the forge which mostly seems to be a process of converting 4 almost worthless minor sigils into one shiny new almost worthless minor sigil. A few times I got a major sigil out of it which gave me a brief moment of excitement before I realised that it, too, was almost worthless. So merch it is for the greenies. I’ll continue to save the majors for the forge.
I’m getting loads of Minor Sigils and Minor Runes. Do folks generally just merch ’em?
You’ll know it’s gone too far when those bosses are on this forum complaining about player behaviour.
@OP. For you, based on what you wrote, no, it’s not worth you getting the expansion.
Based on what you wrote you are done with this game. It happens.
The OP is not asking to make raids easier for everyone. He’s just asking for there to be a selectable difficulty level. The uber-elite-dps-godz™ can still have their youtube glory and claim the bragging rights on the hardest setting and can earn the best loot.
No-one is saying it should be a cakewalk with big rewards but I don’t see any harm in there being an easier version of the same thing, with suitably scaled down mobs and loot.
An MMOs real strength is to be as inclusive as possible. If only the best of the best can beat the raids, then the majority of players will not get to experience that part of the game, which would be a shame imo. I actually thing that all dungeons should have two difficulty levels. Inclusive is important.
Simple question. If I am in two guilds can I access the guild bank/vault of the one I am not rep’ing or do I need to switch the rep across?
Not sure about mobs’ AI learning stuff. One day they might become self-aware and then…. SkyNet.
It would be cool if mobs remembered your previous visit to the area though. “Hey! That’s the guy that killed my cousin yesterday. GET HIM!”
Stage 1: “Give me everything NOW!”
Stage 2: “I’m bored. There is nothing to do.”
I predict the biggest examples of forum rage will be from those that are not playing HoT but who still get fairly frequent interruptions from the inevitable “new build available” messages", even if they do not own HoT. I think that Halloween, the core game and the expansion will all be running on the same set of servers from the same set of data files and that overloads, lag and updates will affect everyone. I’ve seen a few folks say stuff like "as long as it doesn’t affect the core game " or “I’ll be playing Halloween so I’ll avoid those problems.” I’m not sure that will be the case.
But it will settle down soon enough. Maybe we should have some awards:
- First rage post
- Pettiest complaint
- Best sustained rant
- Highest number of new threads on the same subject by the same person
- Fastest moderation response
- Most polite complaint
- Best non-repetitive kitten chain
And yes, I agree as consumers we should not accept imperfect software but the fact is that we do. It’s just how it is.
I loved GW1 and maxed out most stuff eventually. But if I went back to it now I think the lack of freedom to wander all over the maps would drive me crazy. Those bits where your objective is just the other side of a small hill but it makes you run miles round to get there. No jumping/climbing/falling to get there quicker. It was normal at the time but now, meh.
I loved the heroes though. Reminded me of some of the Baldur’s Gate series where you had a whole party of toons you could equip and command.
If you don’t need to sleep it might be an OK way to get some points. Other than that, do it because you want to play it rather than for the slow points you will get.
And just because I’m bored, some random trivia:
Both “Never Surrender!” and “I Will Survive!” where shouts in GW1 (Paragon and Warrior respectively) and have yet to find their way into GW2.
Turns out I’ve landed in exactly the right game for me.
At first I was afraid.
Now I’m petrified.
Yeah. me too.
Double thanks.
Now, where did I put my hairspray and Spandex
Da da da daah
