Maybe the end of Halloween will bring a new wave of players into HoT.
Maybe tomorrow’s update will make some changes to encourage a second wave.
Maybe not.
From Guild Leader to Guild Beggar in HoT flat

Is this new guild system the first time GW2 has had a system where individual guild members are being asked/expected to donate some of their personal “wealth” to the guild?
I only ask because I’ve seen the downside of this in another game, where guildies were arguing about each others’ donation levels and also there was a problem where folks would be kicked from a guild (or just leave) and “lose all their stuff” and the advantages that it brought. I saw a lot of “boo hoo it’s not fair”. It’s a problem that grows with the size of the donations.
My money is on it ending on Tuesday but, yes, it’s a pretty easy score for a grown-up to just tell us on the forum.

I’d be doing much better in HoT if I was awarded some XP each time I die.
You don’t have to be leet, you just have to choose the PVE open world bounty and track the target until another guild with the same bounty turns up. If you timer is running out attack the target anyway. Chance are others will join. It’s not much favor per week but it is some.
The original Matrix was perfect but that made the residents unhappy. Consequently we now have the slightly flawed version so we have something to be OCD about.
Try not to think about all those gaps being service access tunnels for the map overseers.
Do you think that is air that you’re breathing?
The only place I have noticed a reluctance to rez others is in the HoT maps, even if it would be safe to do so. (I consider myself to be somewhat of an expert at finding ways to become dead in that first map…).
But the culture of rezing looks to be well and truly alive in the rest of the game. Today I died 4 or 5 times falling from a tricky vista route in Blazeridge Steppes. On a couple of those occasions someone even fought through a couple of mobs to get to me. It warmed the kittenles of my heart it did, at least until I went to try that tricky jump again (I made it – eventually).
Edit: I just proper laughed at the kitten filter. It warmed the small edible marine bivalve molluscs of my heart it did.

Plus, after a while running round at the back of the zerg you kinda want to be the one to open the door for a change.l;p
It seems to that HoT is not designed for zerging, not designed for casual players, not designed for solo players, not designed for small guilds and not designed for anyone who might reasonably expect to be rezzed by a random passing player.
It seems to me that HoT is designed to bring out the worst in everyone.
I’ve got plenty of non-HoT stuff to do for now. I’ll wait….
Unreal Engine 4 is already available in GW.
Just type the secret console command:
/GiveMeMoreLeetererGrafixAndEverythingInnit
Seemed to work for me.
I think the NPC will sell only a small selection rather than the whole lot.
If there is anything you really, really want then think about topping up whatever currency you need from the TP to buy it in the next day or so.

Mounts would flesh out your character. It’s a strange world where we can tame beasts and slay dragons but where it apparently hasn’t occurred to us that we might be able to saddle up a horse and save ourselves some shoe leather.
With a mixed group of players in a random zerg the most reliable way is the “stack round the corner” way. You can win even when most of the players are just randomly spamming skills. It’s not the most elegant way but it does mostly succeed.
The methods that rely on seeing the Lich skills triggering is harder to coordinate in the random chaos of the zerg.
I don’t think there has been any official word.
The best guess is Tuesday, the logic being that Tue is normal patch day and the Halloween stuff in the gem store runs out about then.
But it is only a guess.

If the software industry had to give us some money back every time we found a bug there would be no software industry.
And Billy-boy Gates would be doing my gardening to pay off his debts ;p
Or it could just continue accruing points towards the level after so you don’t waste any.
Convert it into favor.
But you’re not going to like the conversion rate.
If it’s the NPC I’m thikning of then it’s hardly a good advert for mounts. He fell off it and got his kitten handed to him.
He should have walked…
I wonder how many of the people who dislike the mentor tag have a commander tag and just don’t want their purchase to be devalued?
Me, for instance.
It actually enrages me to find that I’ve wasted 300g on something almost free.
Your honesty wins the thread.
Sounds a bit like giving guildies a stick with which to beat each other.
Those people saying that they are finding it difficult. They are not making it up. Telling them that it’s easy, or that they need to get better, or that they don’t belong in the game, or even just being rude to them; none of these things are ever going to help. /shrug
Yup.
+1 from me too.
Enter the guild initiative building n LA turn left and talk to one of the nice NPCs.
Choose a GH, pay 100g and 150 favor.
Then you need to go fight for the hall with a team of players who have HoT.
You can have as many attempts as you like without paying more.
I’ve not heard of the second option of 400g and token that you mention.
It changed the means of progression while leaving intact access to anything you already unlocked.
This is simply not true. Stuff you had access to last week is now locked behind a whole host of guild hall buildings.
I don’t get why people in big guilds want to hate on small guilds. They are just people too and it has absolutely zero effect on anyone else in the game.
Hehe. Missed that reply.
Yes, it’s a fine line I have to walk between <cough> friendly uncle and depraved axe murderer. I think I manage it most of the time.
Now, I’m off to count my massive pile of gold coins with the help of my friend, Mr Axe.
(shhhhh, Mr Axe. They’ll hear you….)
Love them or loathe them, micro guilds have existed from the start.
Maybe it’s a solo guild.
Maybe it’s a husband/wife or bf/gf team (or bf/bf, gf/gf for that matter.)
Maybe it’s a family affair with only 3 or 4 members.
It doesn’t matter. Micro guilds are a real thing and will continue to be a real thing.
You can argue that so few people are not a guild.
You can hate on them like so many seem to do in other threads.
But why should it matter? They harm no-one but seem to taking a lot of flak right now.
And the reason they are so vocal is that the recent changes have removed some of the upgrades they worked so hard to unlock. This is true of all guilds but micro guilds feel the pain so much more, because they worked proportionally harder to get those upgrades.
Capturing a guild hall is a do-able thing by enlisting the help of others. But it seems pretty rough that after that they still have to graft away to earn back the stuff they already had a week ago.
So this an appeal to the masses to not be too hard on such guilds.
And an appeal to the devs to pencil in a bit of love for these guilds in future updates.
They are players too, just trying to play the way they choose.
TL;DR; Micro Guilds Need Love Too.
Luckily for you I’m here to teach you and I have a special offer today.
For just 250g I am prepared to show you how not to turn on your mental tag.
I can also offer regular refresher courses if necessary.
Perhaps we should just call it a tag rather than a mentor tag.

Reboot your PC m8
Do you ever wish that they would re-skin the wiki and present it in a game window rather than catapulting us back to the real world to read stuff?
Phew. Glad that’s over. I’ve seen the real world, and let me tell you it’s a scary place.
There are no way points and you only get one life. That’s harsh.
Anyone else getting these atm?
I’ve had 5 or 6 in the last hour or so when changing maps.
Usually I’m fine.
Some of the commander tag snobs in this thread give me the urge to put on a mentor tag and follow them around for a while.
Hating on people because they are using something that IS NOT a commander tag….
Maybe they should ban commander tags in all PVE maps. After all, they were intended for PVP, weren’t they?
I get that the commander tags cost gold. Get over it already.
Ultimately, it will not be decided by what we say on the forum. It will be decided by cold, hard numbers – the sales figures and the ongoing population figures.
I can’t believe the intention was to target the expansion solely at the harder-core players. It would not make any commercial sense at all to target just a subset of the customers. The reason all those other games’ open-world content can be described by some as a “snoozefest” is because that’s how they attract and retain a large chunk of players. So it needs a balance of both to be successful.

It’s account wide. Your alts just got easier!
I was slightly alarmed to see the recent ANet HP announcement say that they are very happy with the difficulty level of HoT. I can’t help but think they have lost touch with their core audience. I’ve recently left another game where the devs listened to the vocal minority who said they wanted it harder. It stopped being fun for me, and for others, so that game now has fewer players and might struggle to survive.
Casual players are the bread and butter of these games which means providing a huge quantity of relatively easy content. I don’t think the expansion can be a commercial success if it only targets hardcore players so, yes, I think it will get nerfed sooner or later. Open world stuff should not be a struggle for normal players with average kit. But it’s hard to ask those players what they want because most of them will never come to the forum.
Those HoT maps are big. There is plenty of room to accommodate players of all skill levels. Maybe Anet need to learn from GW1 and have a hard mode version of each map for those who are “in it to win it” rather than ramping up the difficulty in the normal maps.
Put simply: some players don’t play for the challenge.
Why not just join up with them or find another map?
Do they have more right to be in that map than I do?
I didn’t realise…
I did the easy level open-world pve guild mission solo this week. The one where you track down and kill one person. So there is still some stuff you can do.
- Now that I can see my mastery level in the lower left of the screen, next to the exp bar, when I travel to lower level zones I am unable to see what level I am being scaled down to.
+1 to this.
I was just about to post the exact same thing. It’s not a biggie but I like to know what effective level I’m fighting at.
WORST. IDEA. EVER.
How would that ever make a situation less salty?
Recursive complaining always seems to be endless.
I find most of that sort of abuse funny. It usually says more about the abuser than the abusee.
It’s all about intent. If you are running around the lab opening doors and running deliberately to annoy the “resident” tagged zerg then that’s (mild) trolling and probably deserves a reaction. If you are opening the doors and killing the mob(s) for loot then you are just playing the game.
My favourite is when there are two tagged players arguing in chat about who should turn theirs off. The new mastery stuff probably means we will see more of that.
But, yes, just people being people. Mob Rulez….
The most annoying part of the tower in my opinion is that once you fail you have to sit there and wait to retry instead of immediately going at it again. Drives me nuts.
But only if you fail early. When you are last to fail you jump right back in pretty quick
Spoiler alert: I fail early.
Ah, you need to try it with me. I am worserer than you is.
It’s not much compensation but the 12 or 13 favor he would have paid you would not have gone very far. I’m going to sit on my influence points for now in the hope that the conversion rate will improve or that there will be something else to spent it on. It’s unlikely but…
Enter the building and go straight ahead. “Favor Broker” on the left, just before the “Guild Requisitioner”.
Although I’m now wondering if he only appears if you have enough influence to trade. I have a bit over 10K and he only offers me one deal for 10K.
I assume it will still give you the influence points. Influence points can be traded for guild favor points at the Guild Initiative building but you’re not going to like the conversion rate. My 10K influence converts to 50 favor. Yes, that is not a misprint….
char slot for those haven't pre-purchased HoT

As a non-veteran, I pre-purchased and did not get a char slot. My bad for misunderstanding the offer….
As an experiment I did the easy PVE guild mission “solo” yesterday. Can’t remember the title but it was to locate and kill one particular NPC. I say “solo” because, although I found the target and triggered the fight on my own, other players soon joined in. I think I would have managed to kill her on my own but nowhere near as quickly and maybe not in te time limit.
I don’t know what other easy-level missions will be like but at least I was able to earn a bit of favour. So that’s a positive.
Question. Is the easy (open world) PVE guild mission the same for all guilds in any particular week? There were certainly others there with the same objective yesterday.
