An achievement for soloing dungeons?

For me, soloing dungeons is my pve meta. And it would be great if there is an achievement for that. How about a new dungeon title like Dungeon Soloist or something.

Would be great if they provide a means for the soloist to get pass group-obstacles so it would open more paths for us to attempt to solo.

I just want to know if this is in the radar for the dev? Or is this how it will stay. I get stuck in rushing animation so often even though I’m right next to my target. This is one of my favorite skill but sometimes it can cost your life when it bugs out.

Yea, before the patch that nerfed the mace, hammer, and longbow, warrior was complete. If the goal of ANet is to achieve a class that has multiple builds that can flourish then they did so with the warrior pre-patch. But now the warrior has definitely taken a step backwards becoming slightly broken. ANet should have left the warrior alone but focus more on bringing the other classes up to par.

This isn’t about class balance. It is about heavy armor. Most players enjoy wearing heavy armors. There are only 2 classes you can play for that: Guardians and Warriors. Guardians are for females and Warriors are for men. That’s why we got so many warriors running around. And some dudes prefers the light armor evening gowns but whatever float your boat.

If they want players to fight the elites, they need to close out the other side as well because players can still hide out over there. It defeats the purpose of this change if other option is still available.

It won’t work. The dodge button was invented for a reason.

Not if you vary the aoe attacks at different pace, not all at once. Then basically there is no way to keep dodging, you will run out of dodge because these attacks will keep coming at everyone at different times but fast enough that if everyone stand in same spot, then basically you are standing in a spot that get hit with a magor attack every 2 second. You can’t dodge them all, you have to move, and everyone will have to spread out to avoid concentrating all the attacks in one area, there isn’t enough dodge to avoid a constant barrage of deadly attacks as a result of stacking.

CoE subject alpha sort of does this – puts an aoe circle where each player stands, but people overcome this and stack and dodge together when the aoe occurs. Some dungeon bosses overcome stacking by putting a debuff on each player and damages them if they stand close to each other e.g. fractal asura

perhaps make all the aoe have different timing attacks so that they don’t occur all simultaneously where one dodge can avoid them all? Something is bound to land, and boss will have his other attacks directing at the group so when it all adds up, people will go down. For example, say a Golem shoots 5 rockets at the group, one launch after another at a rapid rate but not simultaneously. If you stack, you basically standing in a spot that will see a succession of attacks which is basically unavoidable. And vary the rate of these attacks so that the spot essentially becomes a death trap. only way to avoid creating a death trap is to spread out.

I agree. If this nerf turns out worst than I expect, then no more NcSoft games for me. I’ll wait til something comes out and just play a different type of game until it does. We put up with so many bad ideas throughout the year and stuck with this game and this might be the last straw that breaks the camels back. Keeping my fingers cross, ANet won’t make this huge blunder.

Instead of bosses throwing out one big red circle of aoe for everyone to avoid, the boss will throw out 5 seperate aoe at each players seperately, so a total of 5 red circles. Let’s say that each aoe does 30% damage when it hits you. So when a group is stacking, then everyone is standing on top of 5 aoe circles, so you would then receive 5 aoe damage which is 150% damage = instant group wipe. So spreading out and attacking the boss from different angles would benefit the group more. Standing next to each other risk taking more damage from multiple attacks.

We must clarify that zerker gears is only stats. It’s not a style of play. Your traits and the weapons choice, utility choice is your style of play. So a control/support player can still wear zerker gear. Zerker gears only determine how much direct damage you will take vs how much direct damage you will inflict. The style of play is determine by the other setups not the gear. Nerfing zerker gears would only nerf group total dps, no matter what type of play style you choose. The important thing should be noted is that zerker gears shines mainly in pve. In WvW or PVP, it’s inferior and other gear setups shines esp condition oriented gears. So every gear has it place. The thing is ANet annouce a critical damage change, which means not only zerkers will be affect. Valkyrie and Cavalier gears will also get nerf. Anyone who mix and max different stats will also get nerf. Is that what everyone wants? More players to do less dps, so everyone now takes a lot longer to kill a boss that seems to get larger HP pool as times go?

the end result will be everyone suffering with lesser dps. making every task longer and boring. still will not fix the facts that people want more dps for pve, more condi and bunkers for wvw.

what will happen? if its nerfs, more people will get the kicking magic for dungeons and general pve content that are champions “not structures because those are PVT capable business”, reason?

more skills and understanding needed to utilize their classes efficiently and speed things up. who will feel the pinch? facetankers that wants cleric build everywhere.

why? because you simply cannot offer more dps to the groups since dps is already been nerfed. more strict policies for groups will be implemented. have fun trying to find a group that will carry a log thru a dungeon.

I agree. Nerfing zerkers will hurt other setups more. I run dungeons often and I enjoy running with new players and pugs. As a full zerker, it doesn’t matter what setup my group runs as I have enough dps to carry the group to finish at a decent time. If my dps is drop significantly then it would mean now we need another zerker in the party just to make up the loss. In other words, demand for zerker would increase, and players who run defensive gears would face more ridicule for their lack of dps contribution. Bottom line, this makes the situation worst. Changing game mechanics is the only proper solution, nerfing critical damage is like throwing salt in the wound.

Besides changeable stats, I hope they reduce the amount of HP the enemies have to match the decline in overall dps. Then at least it won’t feel like a nerf. If they nerf zerker without reducing the enemies hp then I would consider retiring from the game. I didn’t grind out full Ascended Beserker to become weaker.

I would also like them to make weapon skills selectable. Having fixed weapon skills makes things boring. I would rather be able to choose my own skills from a collection of skills like how we can choose our own set of utility skills.

There are only 2. Is that too many? Should warriors be the only ones allowed to use it? Or maybe should guardians? Well, I suggest that both warriors and guardians be disallowed to use it, except if they’re Asura, because you don’t see an Asura’s armor anyways.

By “heavy classes” I meant “So many warriors and guardians”… yea I know my wording can be misinterpreted that way. :P Yup Asuras can wear whatever they want.

So many heavy classes wear Draconic Legs, this is not acceptable. I don’t think ANet intended for this to happen. I think Draconic Legs needs to be nerfed so other inferior leg skins becomes more appealing. Maybe trim off the cloth and shorten it like a skirt. That should solve the problem.

Now what’s the point of this thread you ask? Well it seems whenever something becomes too popular it gets nerfed. It could be a certain built, weapon set, farming spots, or even gears. Yes, gears. Seems like the most recent target for nerfing is Beserker gears because it’s way too dominant. Well, we can’t have that… let’s nerf.

I think we are losing touch with what makes the game fun with all this constant nerfing. Guild Wars 2 is the only MMO game I have ever play that my character has gotten weaker as time goes. New players probably don’t realize how much stronger we were back in release. I mean would Dragon Ball be great if Goku keep getting weaker and weaker?

Seriously, I say enough is enough. Remember there is another way to balance out classes. Something most people would prefer, buff up the weaker class or builts or gears. No more nerfs, lets see some major buffs. Let’s not make every update about balance. Let’s focus on making the game fun again. How about more skills please? How about 6th weapon skill? Or add another utility slot? Wardrobe system so collecting skins is feasible? Ascended gears with interchangeable stats so it is actually build friendly? How about a new system of rewards that give better rewards for any events that have not been completed in some time instead of a fixed reward system that seems to encourage zerging to farm an event over and over? Let me elaborate here. If an event has not been complete each day, the reward doubles exponentially until the event has been completed, so the experience points, money, karma all doubles each day it’s not completed. So it’s possible a simple event say to escort a caravan could yield 5 gold, 10k karma points, 20 exotic chests because no one did that event in over a month. Therefore players will seek out unpopular events with the incentive that it might be one with a lot of loot in waiting. Events that gets farm too often will not have time to accumulate value. There will not be any distinctions between events so there is no way to tell which events will be more profitable. This will discourage players from farming certain events over and over and spread out to all zones looking for profitable events. In fact, would also encourage players to guest to low population servers to find these profitable events. Anyways, getting back to topic, I hope that we can get back on track and make Guild Wars 2 more fun rather than focus so much on deciding what to nerf next.

Getting A legendary

I have 2 legendaries. Avoid the mystic forge, it’s a waste of money. All materials can be gather through farming (killing high lvl mobs for treasures), best of course is champ farm or farm Temple events. Do dungeons runs for gold. Since you want twilight, do AC runs. Of course CoF path 1 is good to do daily as it’s quick and easy. The hardest part to crafting a legendary is the precursor. It is hella expensive. So save gold. But if you are lucky, you might get a precursor drop. I got a precursor drop once. That’s once in a year and half of playing. So don’t be surprise if it never happens, so most likely you’ll have to grind out for enough gold to buy the precursor from TP.

However, if you really want to know the secret to getting a legendary fast is to make good friends in the game. I couldn’t have gotten 2 legendary if not for a few people giving me ingredients. One person even gave me a precursor to craft my first legendary.

OP and Nike is right. This is a content and mechanics issue. It’s not a gears issue. The bosses are all built around dps. You can’t cc them nor strip their boons as they will regain it instantly. Condition cleanse, everyone can do it themselves. So of course going full dps is the key to quicker success. If we don’t change the mechanics of the game then there will be no point in running any type of setup except for dps. Even in a holy trinity setup, having members that brings good dps is important. Why would anyone want to weaken the dps members of their group? If you want to diversify gear setups then you make new content or rework old content that utiliize these type of gameplay. Calling for zerker nerf is simply missing the point. It does nothing but upset players who have invested so much time and money in Ascended Beserker gears. Overall, it will weaken all groups total dps, no matter the combination.

I see this change to critical damage just like when players were complaining there is nothing to grind for in this game, so Anet introduce Ascended gears. Yea now we are stuck with that nonsense. So here we are, players complaining there is no roles to play, no “trinity”. Are we heading back to that route again? Trying to make Guild Wars 2 into WoW Wars 2? I think support roles should have it’s place to make dungeon runs a lot more smoother and efficient but it should not be required. All group setups should be able to complete content. Again, nerfing zerker gears or critical damge does not encourage any incentive to use any other gears. It just ruin the fun of this game for a significant portion of the player base. I think defensive gears need more boost. What is the point of defensive gears if you’re still getting one-shotted or two-shotted?

This is the most sane answer. I know it’s just a game but a full plate should never outrun something as lightweighted as a thief. Bad design right there.

In that case, Asuras have body types of an infant, they shouldn’t be able to run as fast as adult humans. Norns are overweight, they too should be slow runners.

What server are you in? Also, you can guest to a popular server to do events. You can also use lfg tool to find players to help. Or you can yell in world map for help. I usually lend a hand if I’m not doing anything important.

I agree with OP. WvW map should not be included in map completion. Some servers could never take over Eternal Battlground to get the maps there. I started this game in Eradon Terrace and I had to transfer to a dominant server just so I could finish map completion.

I agree. They should just buff the weaker classes to meet up with the warrior. The warrior was finally at a good spot before this recent patch. Some of the blame also lies with some players who always scream “nerf, it’s too OP”. These same people should have call for buffs of their own class instead.

The thing I hate most about nerf for class balance is that it affects PvE unintentionally. I play PvE most and a damage nerf is harsh there.

I’m really tired of reading all these threads of endless complains how gw2 is not alt friendly. All currencies are account bound, you don’t need to level for pvp, you’re up scaled in WvW, we have down scaling system in PvE, we have experience scrolls, we have tomes of knowledge, we have scrolls of knowledge, now we got account bound fractal level and soon – account bound WvW levels, how is that not alt friendly?

All these changes you mention were the result of the complaints you hear. So why would you criticize people’s complaints when it finally made the game more alt friendly because of it? If these people did not complain, these alt-friendly measures would not have occur.

Ascended Armor Needs Laurels

You get 1 Laurel per daily completion. These don’t take long to do, so even Casuals can do it. And keep in mind that Ascended Armors are top of the line BiS gear. It’s not meant to be able to get easily or quickly. Even if you did 3 dailies a week, you should have roughly 150 Laurels saved up over the year. That’s more than enough to be alt friendly.

I would like them to create a 4th adrenaline bar when max out unlocks a Super Burst move. Every weapon will have 2 burst skill basically: normal one and super one. For example, the greatsword Super burst move could be a powerful slash that splits the earth in half and hits anything in it’s path (1200 range) doing damage equivalent to a full 100blade.

Just imagine seeing a line of enemies dying to that powerful burst.

For the hammer super burst move will be: a powerful smash that knocks all opponents into the air for 6 seconds. You can then beat them like a pinata.

For the mace super burst move: You club one opponent so hard their entire body is driven into the ground, with only their head expose. They are incapacitated for 20 seconds.

This is what I want for the warrior class

I agree with this guy.
Although I also agree with the OP to a certain degree, I don’t feel that it’s that big of an issue. Usually if someone is downed they’re finished. If someone tries to res them they’ll be nuked with AOE’s and give up within a few seconds. I’ve only ever encountered this being a problem a handfull of times. For the most part the dead will stay dead for a short while before WPing unless they’re really selfish and stay dead waiting to be ressed getting people killed in the process.
If anything the dead are hurting the allies and helping the enemy. All the people trying to res the dead end up getting dead themselves by pushing their luck.
Still, I agree to an extent. I’m just saying that unless it’s 10 to 1 odds, it’s rarely a problem. Otherwise the dead will just be bombed with AOE’s and the people trying to res them will be swarmed by anyone who’s paying attention.

OP idea is addressing a small group vs a zerg. Not zerg vs zerg, in which case what you say is true. But OP idea is to help make it possible so smaller group can wither the large group down to eventually defeating them with better skills.

Excellent idea. But I think it should go further. It’s not hard for out of combat rezzing to keep blob unkillable. I think once a player is dead, they should be intantly teleported back to the starting waypoint.

Also I think they should slow the rezzing of down state players to the same speed as rezzing a dead player in combat (applies only to WvW). Whenever I fight outmanned it’s too hard to finish a player off when their teammates can pick them up so fast.

I would say that the expected part makes it quite clear that nothing is actually decided, only that they had those plans discussed.

That’s not usually how “expected” is define. Just as if you say your wife is expecting, that means the baby is coming. You wouldn’t question whether baby is going to come or not. So here we could expect a raise to level cap is coming. We just don’t know when. I think sometimes in 2014. Or course, there is a possibility it may not happen, NCSoft could pull the plug on ArenaNet for all we know. For now, I am on the side of the fence that’s it’s coming. I’m hoping it will be a nice expansion with lots of new dynamic events in lvl 90 zones.

90 seems to be the logical next cap. It could be lvl 85 though. But I do hope they give us more trait points to go with the lvl increase.

Simple explanation. The gears are soulbound. So when you try to lift the Legendary off the ground, you can’t move it. It’s like in the Thor movie where all those people fail to pull Thor’s hammer off the ground. Also remember how Thor suddenly get all his armor back when he was killed by the giant robot? It works just like that in Guild Wars. Our armors magically flies back to us.

Of course there is nothing stopping you from robbing them of their gold. Smart players will leave their money in the bank.

According to ArenaNet’s Mike O, we can expect a lvl cap increase in the coming future. Here is the quote below:

“More generally, I hope we’ve been clear that GW2 is not a game with virtually no stat progression in it like GW1 was. That’s why GW2 shipped with a higher level cap, and with a hard separation between PvE and PvP. In GW1 we never advanced the level cap through four campaigns/expansions. The game design didn’t allow for it. But GW2 was designed without those restrictions, and we’ve always expected that we will someday raise the level cap in GW2”

Now, I hope when this does happen, we will get new lvl 90 zones to play in with new permanent content, basically an expansion. Also throw in a new villain in our personal story since Zhaitan is dead. (preferably they make Trahearne into a villain, a man who allow the taste of power to corrupt him).

Also when this happens, would legendaries automatically get bump up to lvl 90 as well with new stats?

So is this in the works for 2014?

1 second is so useless. 2 sec and I would use it sometimes. I would trade the 5 stack of vulnerability just to get another second on immobilize. How about it Arena? Let’s finally make Body Shot a semi-useful skill?

I personally would be happy if they got rid of them, even though I have all ascended stuff already. Just compensate by giving us gold for each ascended piece.

If you expect bleed to be your only substance in a condi build. Then condi really isn’t for you my friend. (No disrespect intended).

Anyone else have this problem? Whenever I play WvW or PvE and I come across an Asura enemy, I usually let them live if I can. I see Asuras as little kids. I don’t have the heart to kill them. Of course sometimes they kill me when I take it easy on them. lol

And same principle applies to female toons. I can’t kill them without feeling guilt. And I know most players are dudes but I just can’t see past their avatars.

Yes, I think practically all champions in open world are soloable. The hardest ones are in Orr of course. If you are lvl 80, go to frostgorge, you should be able to solo all champs there. But you might have to guest to a small server to avoid champ trains. You can practice on the low lvl champions first if you are having a hard time with them. Dungeons is a whole different ball game. You have to be crazy good to solo dungeons.

Very interesting read. I never knew Syvari are plants that imitate humanoids. I thought they were simply half human half plant like creatures. So the pale tree gave birth to all of them. It would be sad if someone cut downs the Pale Tree and the race will go extinct.

Do any of you find the female sylvari attractive? I think they look kind of weird. The male sylvari has a few looks that is pretty cool but I haven’t met a female sylvari that makes me look twice. The Asuras are the opposite where the female Asuras are adorable but the male Asuras are ugly. I like the Sylvari race concept but wish they have better looks though.

How do you rate the female sylvari looks?

Do any of you find the female sylvari attractive? I think they look kind of weird. The male sylvari has a few looks that is pretty cool but I haven’t met a female sylvari that makes me look twice. The Asuras are the opposite where the female Asuras are adorable but the male Asuras are ugly. I like the Sylvari race concept but wish they have better looks though.
