It’s kind of funny when I started pvp, I hated conquest because I hated fighting on points. Then I was excited to hear they will come out with Stronghold. But then they manage to make stronghold boring too, hated having to grab supplies and too many zerging. Then I go back to conquest as the map designs are more balance and encourage 1v1 or 2v2. I now prefer conquest over stronghold. Of course, I’m hoping they could come up with a new pvp design that discourage zerging while not forcing players to fight on points would be perfect.
I always wish GW2 have a downloadable replay feature (like how Starcraft 2 does) so you can watch past matches in game as if you are a spectator. Since you can control the cameras or who to spectate, it really makes watching past matches more fun.
Yea I do notice there are many thieves in unrank right now. But I wonder how they will fair in ranked when season starts. Thieves needed this buff. It truly define their roles as quick assassins.

WvW is a fun aspect of the game but the rewards is so bad that it discourage you from wanting to stay there too long. I know other friends who would play WvW more if the rewards were good. I know ArenaNet is working on overhauling the WvW system and I hope they don’t forget about improving the rewards system so that it will be somewhat comparable to PvE and sPvP. Hopefully it will be the kind of reward system that encourage players to fight each other rather than taking turn capturing things.
In season 1, warriors and thieves were basically the two worst professions where you barely seem them get played in ranks, esp warriors. Now thieves are making a return to the meta. But warriors even with the latest balance patch did nothing for them. Hopefully Anet will address this issue quickly before season starts because it’s sad to see warriors have to sit out another full season while waiting for the next balance patch which may or may not fix their core issues.

Season 1 was the beta test. So there were too many issues and exploits that allow players to move up to legendary quite easily. So yes, in a way, it’s meaningless for this season. Next season should be better but still won’t affect players doing the stronghold route.
Since the past few weeks I’ve been busy IRL so haven’t been playing but I was looking forward to what’s to come in 2016. And then I find this.
700 gems for 1 inventory slot that’s shared on your account… This is the reason I never spend money on microtransactions in games. The people that come up with pricings for these things are just the embodiment of greed. It’s good that people can at least choose to use gold but it seems my decision not to purchase gems when I got the game 3 years ago is still applicable now. It’s great that they finally implement a much requested feature but once again the marketing/publishing department show’s it’s true face. It’s sad as the game itself is alot of fun.
I understand what you are trying to say. But 160g for 700 gems is what? Uber casual 30 minutes of Silverwastes a day for two weeks? If you cannot spare 30 minutes to work for something you want do you really want it? Doing one full meta of Silverwastes, help as many dolyaks, protect as many forts, do as many ‘kill X veteran menace’ as you can, then Vinewrath, then labyrinth until it closes. Toss all bags to a level 30-40 alt. Voila, you just made 15g in one hour. Repeat for 11 days. Or do two of those a day. Repeat for five days.

I disagree. I applaud Anet for finally addressing the balance issue. Who wants to see this boring bunker meta play out in the big stage. I’m only upset that they didn’t fix it sooner. This upcoming balance patch is a good start. Most pvpers are actually happy that change is coming soon. The only ones who would be upset are the lower skilled pros who has been carried by these cheesy metas and allowed them to compete with the better pro teams. So getting a balance update before the tourney will help ensure the better skilled team will win it. Like in any big esports, if there is a balance issue, they fix it before any real tournaments. I’m glad Anet did that too.

That’s terrible. I feel your pain. Matches like that should never happen. Evan needs to fix it so that kind of results should not occur.
However, as for me, I have been getting much better matches. Can’t wait for next season when they finally change the way match making will depend mainly on divisions.

That’s what warriors thought when they think “well Berserker sucks, at least it’s not warriors.” See where they are now. I don’t get the mentality to separate an elite spec with it’s core class. They are one in the same.
I assume the full premade team of legend, diamond, ruby waited too long in que time that the “new” system decide to feed them a bunch of amber saphire emerald soloquers. This is not the way to encourage newer players to keep playing league. Those lowbies should have been compensated with a pip for the abuse they took.

You can’t let that range naturally put Emeralds in matches against Diamonds and Legendaries. Probably even Sapphires shouldn’t be there. If they want to queue with friends in a higher tier, whatever. But solo queue, that shouldn’t happen. I’d take no game over a frustrating game like the few I’ve had this morning.
Not to mention there were 2 ambers in that group. 2 ambers vs legend and Diamond. Obviously this should have never happen.
The change to long queue times went out last night, so this is the result of that. The search range is clearly expanding too much, so we’ll reconfigure it to be a tighter search again.
Evan, as a player, I would rather have long que time than getting match against a team you have no chance to win. You basically will lose a pip and have to reque again. It’s basically time wasted.
Sounds like Guardians are basically getting the short end of the balance changes. If Dragon Hunter is nerfed too much, I fear they will become the new warrior/thief of 2016, no one will want them on the team. Let’s not repeat history with another class.
Anet need to hotfix the matchmaking ASAP. It’s unplayable right now.
Josh Davis mentioned it’s for “Winter” of 2016, so we probably won’t see any major changes til the end of the year.

So, when I see a legend I don’t know, I ask them their strategy. It’s almost always go cheese stronghold.
Why is this a competitive map? It is perfectly fine for unranked, but it is not a good mapped for anything ranked. It should be removed from ranked for season 2.
You don’t have to play stronghold in ranked. Simply uncheck the box on Stronghold in the pvp menu screen on the top right and you will never see it in ranked.
You might be asking too much of Berserker Warrior. Gun Flame is basically all it’s good for.
What we really need is loot that you can’t get in other game modes that is actually worth something to the average player.
Hence my suggestion for WvW Legendary Armors. It will be a unique skin. PvE has Raids for their Legendary Armor. And WvW is essentially a raid for pvp players.

I think I can answer that. Soloq will not return unless the population of TeamQ reach a point where the que times for TeamQ are less than 3 minutes on average. So the only way to get Soloq back is to promote Spvp to a larger audience and get more players, which I assume is Anet’s goal.
In the mean time, perhaps Anet can look into rewarding Soloq players for winning against pre-mades with extra pips.
First fix the matchmaking to players skill level before rewarding. As this system giving out Division titles and Legendary Pieces free for lower skilled players, pve players ( there is a good chance they will abuse the system like a lot of peoples out there), ( farming random pug with premades ) While i stuck in Diamond as a true solo q pvp’er because rare when my team is not just keep dying at mid for 10mins they don’t have the brain power to don’t try hard what doesn’t work ( most of games are like that ) and do something else that have chance to change the score. and can’t get out of that hell bad Division. and watching pve players and random names i’ve never seen in my pvp life get the Legendary title and Legendary piece so we can see here the system failed as much as possible. Your system is punishing me with Amber and Emerald like skilled Diamond and Ruby players. PvP titles and pieces should be awarded for your perfomance not abusing and premade farming randoms and win trading. so in pvp i should get teammates a bit lower skill, same skill or a bit better. Not the ones that can’t stomp/revive/ and hit the focus target also some matches i see they like to select focus target the hardest one to take down. like ele and mes so 1 player troll 2-3 of my teammates while 3 or 4 enemy doing gang party on me.

It is important to us that anyone can play with their friends regardless of league standing, but in doing so, we also want to ensure that teams aren’t gaining an unfair advantage in match difficulty based on their rosters. An example of this would be two friends: one is in Diamond and the other is in Amber. For Season 2, these two players will still be able to team up and play together, but they’ll be placed into Diamond level matches based on the highest division player in the party. This means that forming a party with players in a higher division than you will always bring you up to their level for matchmaking and prediction, rather than adjust to compensate for party members at lower divisions. This specific change will go into effect in our next scheduled release (prior to the end of season 1).
This is all good and well, but what’s stopping a diamond tier group of friends from having one dude make an amber account? I’ll assume that you’re also changing the pip rewards then, making it so that it doesn’t matter if there’s a tier 1 amber with a clean MMR on the winning team.

That would only make Berserker another mandatory traitline. Whatever the solution, it really shouldn’t be located on a single traitline.
Which is the case for basically every profession. Elite spec is mandatory for today’s meta.
I hope in future league seasons Anet will introduce more Legendary Pieces so there will always be new goals to achieve. Having long term goals for spvp is really a great idea. I just hope it doesn’t end with just legendary backpiece.

I agree. WvW needs better rewards. I think they should have rewards tracks like spvp does. The reward tracks can progress base on your server PPT, therefore the more territory your server owns, the faster your reward tracks will progress. Spvp started to become more popular after Anet increase the rewards there. Now it’s time to do the same for WvW.
Also, they need to give a WvW version of Legendary Armor so players can have a long term goal that is worth their time.
Yes power is definitely better for Dragonhunters. Most of the time you will be fighting with longbow. Some prefer greatsword just for the occasional melee burst damage. Sword/focus is also a good choice. Do you like traps? As far as trap goes, you probably want to use Procession of blades for pve since it helps you do more damage and it’s also very useful in pvp too. Berserker gear is great for pve but if you want more survivability and only giving up a tiny bit of damage, then go for mixed of Marauder and berserker gears.
Here is link to a build I found that I like a lot. For the trait in DH, I prefer piercing light for pvp and soaring devastation for pve.
PS: If you don’t want the trouble of crafting marauder armors, you can also mix berserkers armors with a couple of piece of soldier trickets. Otherwise if you prefer max dps, then go full zerker.
And yes, you will use the virtues often to stay alive in fights. The shield of courage will block anything in front and the wings of resolve will serve as a second heal. As far as elites go, renew focused is still the best, although dragon maw is fun to goof around with. lol
Just curious how far did you guys managed to get in spvp league via soloque. I got to ruby with my warrior. A tanky condi warrior (vanilla) seems to be the most effective for me. Any power/berserker just doesn’t work very well.
Those are exiting news, Gaile. Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long to see changes take place. You guys can roll out little bits at a time if you guys don’t have the whole thing ready. I’ll definitely participate in wvw more in the future when these things are implemented.
Far from the truth. I have been around since launch and pvp has increase it’s population for sure. After Anet increase the loots system to include reward tracks, pvp participation skyrocketed. Now with league, it has also garner more attention. I have never seen so many people in the mist. Of course, the game isn’t balance and I’m sure they are well aware of it. So come January, they will release a major balance patch. Hopefully that will fix some of the bunker meta issues.
OP, if you are complaining that bad players are holding you back from advancing in ruby, then your suggestion would make it worst. Imagine you could be stuck at amber this whole time because you have had a string of bad teams.
Guardians have virtues, warriors have stances. This just makes sense.
I think current Endure Pain is not too bad. The automatic Endure Pain is pretty much an auto-pick and it is quite strong.
I think the big issue with all Warrior stances is that you can pretty much never take the Stance trait because it competes with Cleansing Ire. That’s not necessarily bad, it’s just a meta thing, and honestly if we see a viable bursty warrior pop up it may be worth taking Stances over Cleansing Ire.
I always find the auto-endure pain to be greatly overrated. It only procs when ur health is below 25% and only if u get hit by an attack. So it means you could die before it procs if the attack is big enough. But in most cases a warrior’s health goes down usually due to conditions because of the condition metas. And endure pain does nothing to save u from condis.

anet can find ballance another way. they were close before HoT, they just need to start shaving. like, attack a revenant with a cheese grater.
If other classes are needed it will be more fun and there will be more players which means less que time. Not to mention if u play more than one class, you can find a match even faster. PvP that revolves around 3 meta classes won’t be very popular.
I hope Anet doesn’t just glance the topic and ignore this thread. This is by far the best suggestion in fixing the warrior I have seen. It’s simple and yet it keeps warriors mechanics exactly the same. But the impact is significant, it will free up utility slots so warriors can finally use rage skills or physical skills and even bring banners to team fights.

I think it’s time to address this issue. I think class stacking is a big problem and hard to balance and it doesn’t give all classes a fair shake. It’s time to vote on this issue and I think Anet can benefit if class stacking was prohibited in pvp.
Each class should have a define role that other class can’t top. But now most classes can do just about all same stuff but some does it way better, hence only 3 classes are needed for the meta.
