So basically Berserker is a “power-up” button. Warrior still basically fight exactly the same. Is this really a specialization? Other class got so many new mechanics and abilities. Warriors got one button F3 that power us up for a brief moment. Where is the fun in that?

I would like Rupturing Smash to create a dust cloud (6s) that blocks all ranged type attacks, will only allow melee attacks.

All stances increase duration by 2 seconds.

Greatsword Rush should evade while running and cast time reduce 3/4 second.

Bladetrail should pull enemy on the return attack, range increase to 1200.

I shelved my warrior for now for Dragonhunter. WIll try Rev soon. I will always love my warrior been my main for the longest. I hoping for Berserker and warrior core traits to get some buffs so that warrior will be viable and exciting again. Hoping they give warriors more useful skills.

I think kick was design for rifle/bow warriors. I personally like the knockbacks. I am still kittened at Robert for changing Rupturing smash to 1 sec immobilize from knockback.

Stop being newbs. I mean seriously l2p. DH are traps. Range them down and they die. Blow the traps with a pet or clone and don’t stand in it and they die. Rev built for DPS CAN NOT take a condi burst. They simply do not have the clearing for it. Not by a long shot. Hammer 1 is slow, clunky, and usually its the might stack that kills you. Think of Pew Pew ranger how do you counter them?

There will always be some build you all think is OP. How OP it is is not based on how hard it is for you to handle it but based on the skills you and your team have available to do so. DD ele was such a pain because it could handle most things that should counter it. The ones you mention now are susceptible to some hard counters. So it becomes the same old thing. Are you willing to counter it or wait for a nerf and a new target to complain about?

Often you guys get advice in these threads. Ignore it and continue the moan train all the while someone else went into the game applied it and started winning. The pattern is the same over and over yet most of you are still in the same spot doing the same thing and still can’t adapt. You have played enough pvp to get the title but truth is most of you are the same kitten guys you were 3 years ago with 0 growth. There will always be a meta start learning to adapt to it because the next nerf will not be the last. The game is constantly changing and you will never be satisfied because you never learn. go on beg for your nerfs and watch a new meta pop and another reason to type angrily into the key board.

Well said. But the sad part is Arena always listen to the complaints even if it’s just from a tiny fraction of players. Notice how quickly some professions receives nerfs. That’s why balance should be done by professionals who knows the game.

Why Devs decided to make Warrior so bad?

I think what happened was warrior was such a strong class for so long. Since the game came out Warriors had alot build options but over the past few patches and HOT all the other classes kept getting better while we stayed the same.

Actually warriors went through a series of major nerfs that place them dead last while other class received buffs especially after the trait rework. It all started with the adrenaline nerf that hurt hambow builds. So most migrated to shoutbow, then they nerfed shoutbow by nerfing vigorous shout trait. Then the last viable build was the rampage warriors, which they also nerfed quickly. So warriors are left with inferior builds againt today metas. And with the Berserker spec, it’s like a whole new nerf to warriors if you use it. That’s not including the damage nerf to greatsword and hammer. Warriors have little sustain since they are mainly melee fighters and their attacks are slow and telegraph. But somehow the dev feels they deserved the nerfs. So that’s why warriors are at the stage that it is now. Of course when other classes got stronger due to their elite specializations, it just made it more noticeable how bad warriors class is.

A simple fix to Berserker

When you enter Berserker, you gain defiance healing for 5 seconds. This will help keep Berserker alive a lot longer and encourages Berserker to go all out in combat. Next, add another F3 skill Dash (Rampage #3) (4 second cooldown). This will help warriors stick to their enemies.

Learn from other competitive games, high damage brings lots of exciting and face pace action. Skill players know how to avoid big burst. No one wants to watch a game with 2 bunkers slapping each other with pillows and never die.

I just want to say Arena is heading the right direction with all these damage buffs to each professions. It’s a new era. Learn to dodge, learn to blind, learn to block, learn to go invulnerable, learn to use stun breakers and stability to avoid massing damage. And most importantly learn to accept u can’t win every fight.

That’s so funny, Spartacus. I too started first as guardian. Then after WvW I gave it up for the more mobile class like thief and then my main Warrior. I was a warrior ever since. But then warriors started getting nerfs after nerfs, esp when adrenaline got nerfed hard. It really annoyed me. I switch to many builds to keep up with the nerfs but I was hoping the Berserker spec would solve our problems with warriors but it totally disappoint. Now having played Dragon Hunter, I feel like I got the warrior spec I always wanted. I don’t care about Berserker anymore. Unless they do something amazing with it, I am pretty sure Dragon Hunter is my main now. XD

So note to all devs, don’t nerf any profession too much or else players will be unhappy and just give up on their profession. This is what essentially happen to warriors. And I hope in the future, devs will focus more on buffing the weak professions instead of nerfing the good ones.

Yup. I finally decided instead of waiting around for warrior to get fixed. Don’t know if it would happen. I gave the Dragon Hunter a tried and it’s like playing the warrior I wanted. I think switching to another profession is the best solution. And right now, from Reaper, Revenant, DragonHunter, and Scrapper. You can find the version of the warrior you wanted. I see them all as warriors 2.0. So for me, I am retiring my warrior. I’m not sure I’ll go back to warrior unless they give warriors more abilities. I was so hype up for Berserker initially but it really did disappoint me. I wanted new mechanic and lots of new moves but we got the same old burst moves and physical 2.0. So switching to another class, I feel like I’m playing a new warrior. It’s so fun.

I have been a warrior for over 2 and half yrs. And finally I tried the Dragon Hunter and love the play style. The traps synergize well with greatsword. And the longbow is fantastic… much better than the warrior’s longbow. And the F1, F2, and F3 skills are quite useful. I hear the Dragon Hunter had a rough start in early beta, but the dev finally got it right. Just want to say a job well done. Now I will happily retire my warrior and play a Dragon Hunter Guardian. XD

I like most of your suggestions, they are reasonable. However, the hammer burst getting only a 1 sec increase on immobilize is not enough. I think 3 seconds at least. But I much prefer a aoe pull effect.

After Hots launch, warriors are outdated because it didn’t receive any new abilities like other professions did. They basically swap one burst skill for another burst skill that isn’t as good. And rage skills are basically phsyical skills 2.0 . Perhaps warriors should have gotten a seperate rage bar as well as more burst abilities that give warriors survivabilities against the new metas of today.

If Guildwars was Dragon Ball, it is like every professions went supersaiyan and warriors still stuck at the original form.

I think if we really want to improve Berserker, we need more than just one primal burst. Berserker should have access to more burst. I think if the warrior has access to F1, F2 and even F3. Then Berserker will be more viable in pvp as well as more fun to play.

Let’s take Hammer for example.
F1: Earth Shaker: Aoe 2s stun.
F2: Rupturing Smash: Aoe pull.
F3: Flying Thor: Toss hammer at enemies for knockdown (up to 3 enemies will get knockdown). When press again, the warrior will leap toward the enemies for another knockdown.

And with other weapons set, you can add defensive burst abilities to help warriors stay alive so warriors won’t need to rely on stances so much.

If it makes you feel any better, warriors have it bad. I would take Daredevil over Berserker any day. But I feel your pain. I used to main a thief before I switch to warrior. So having seen both of my beloved professions not doing too well in pvp, makes me want to reroll too. Seems like players are migrating to Revenant although I hear Scrapper is the new dd ele. Anyways, just want to let you thieves know you’re not alone in your misery.

Basically every profession got new specialization that made their class stronger and different. But warriors didn’t get anything new. When warriors go berserk, the burst skills are exactly the same but becomes a weaker version of it. Take, the Hammer burst for example, regular burst gives aoe 2 second stun, a berserk burst gives 1 sec immobilize. Would u choose 1 sec of immobilize over 2 seconds of stun? Seriously, that’s what warriors got. Not to mention warriors need key trait lines to be viable, so warriors can’t afford to give up any other trait lines to take berserker. So warriors have a huge problem and that’s why Berserker has zero showtime in professional scene. In fact, I am hearing some teams are asking their warriors to reroll to another profession. It’s a sad state for warriors in pvp at the moment.

Honestly, I have come to realize the Berserker needs to be overhaul and redo. It feels like the warriors did not get a specialization. What I mean is, most profession specialization changes their core mechanics and they fight different than before; where as the warrior when he goes into Berzerk mode, still fights the exact same but with a weaker version of their original burst skill with some flame condition. It really a lazy design in my opinion. Warriors didn’t even get any new animations. Just the same thing with an aura added to us.

Over all, I am happy with the new Hots direction, with masteries and specialization and new utilities. But I just think they massively fail to provide warriors with a real specialization that changes the way warriors fight. Hopefully the silence we are recieving from the devs means they are working on a big change to Berserker. And until they figure out what the new design is, we will then get the updates. Crossing fingers. Going to stay positive that the warriors will get something good.

I have to agree with OP. By the time you complete the new content, you still probably haven’t unlock the elite spec. The whole point of new expansion is to play your class differently in a whole new map. Right now, the players are basically playing the same builds. Just way too much grinding. Not fun.

One thing I think Berserker mode should offer is you can’t die while in Berserker mode. So if you lose all your health, your death will occur at the end of the Berserker mode (No downstate just straight to death like if you were in Vengeance. . This will make Berserker very useful transformation. It will prolong your life maybe long enough to kill your foes first. And Berserker mode should last 20 seconds.

putting you straight into defeated is a terrible idea because vs some classes it’ll take you a minimum of ~7-8 seconds to stomp them assuming they time their downed state 2 properly

So you’ll just be a kitten easy rally in a team fight too, not that downed state warrior is in a much better position

That’s why you have to make the right judgement on when to go into berserk mode. If you’re going to go down, and there is teammates to revive u, then it’s better to hold off on berserk. But in a different situation, it can benefit to go into berserk. Let’s say your teammate is down, and u’r about to go down as well, you can then go into berserk mode to gain the extra time to revive ur teammate, therefore giving u guys a chance turn the table. In a close fight, 20 seconds uptime (my suggestion) on Berseker can give u enough time to stomp at least one enemy. Remember, this feature of berserker only occurs if your enemy manage to kill u while your in that mode and with the buffs from Berserker, it should not be an easy task.

I see more upside to this ability than a downside. And as u say, a downed warrior is a dead warrior most of the time anyways. This at least gives u a window of opportunity to change the outcome of the team fight.

Trait: Thick Skin

They should add another effect to Thick Skin along with giving more toughness. The term Thick Skin also implies you are immune to verbal attacks. So with this trait, you should be immune to any form of negative shouts. Like when other warriors shout “Fear ME” you should be immune to it if your health is above the threshold. So basically Thick skin should prevent any form of mind altering move, such as fears and confusions.

That’s why they need to speed up the animation. But when time correctly it will hit even the best players. The only problem is the skill tends to overshoot or doesn’t hit at all even if they aren’t dodging. They need to fix that.

They could buff up physical skills were it actually offer a different type of survivability.
For example:

Stomp: Launch foes up into the air for 4 seconds with a powerful stomp. (Increase the radius)

Kick: (Increase range) Throw a flying kick that knock back up to five foes, the people who is knock back is daze for 3 seconds. (lower the cooldown)

Bull’s Charge: Increase range to 1200. Knockdown all foes who are in the path of your intended target as well.

Bolas: This skill will now have 2 parts. First you throw bolas to immobilize your target for 3 seconds, then you can pull them back toward you because the bolas now has a rope attach to it (30 second duration to activate the pull). As an added effect, the player you pulled will be revealed for 5 seconds. (This can be used to counter stealth opponents).

Adding more fun things to do in the game is always good. Some players enjoy fishing in a virtual world like MMOs. I’m one of them. I would to travel and fish all over Tyria. Of course, fishing should come with rewards similar to drops from killing mobs as well as achievements.

Make Fear Me strip all stability instead of being unblockable and reduce the cd to 45 seconds. When the new meta comes with HoT there will be so much stability flying around. I really feel like we need a boonstrip.

That’s a good idea. Striping stability would be very effective. Warriors can rush into a group of enemies that has stability up and use Fear Me to fear them and strip their stability. That would be the counter to Guardian’s Stand your ground.

I hope Robert is working on the fix for Berserker. At its current state, Berserker mode is just too weak, needs to get rid of cooldown requirement, the fact that it needs 3 bars of adrenaline to activate is a good enough limiting factor. Another thing is the warrior should also have access to both F1 and F2 bursts while in Beserker mode. When you go into Berserker mode, some of the burst in that mode is just situational and not practical. By allowing warriors to choose which burst to use, will open the effectiveness of going Berserker. Rupturing Smash for example is really useless, 1 sec immobilize doesn’t do much. Please revert the change or increase the immobilize to 4 seconds. Also, as already mention, Fast hand has to be made Baseline so warriors can effectively create more build diversity.

Again, hopefully there are major buffs coming to Berserker or else this specialization will be dead on arrival when Hots is released.

Suggestions for Rupturing Smash

This thread will be about how to fix Rupturing Smash and make it a useful Burst. Well here is my idea: Rupturing smash should work like Blinding Cloud from Starcraft 2. Basically the idea is the warrior smash the ground so hard with the Hammer that it ruptures rocks and dust into the air creating a cloud which negates all ranged attacks for several seconds. Basically you created a dust cloud that only allows melee attacks to do damage. All projectiles range attacks will not do damage inside the dust cloud and lets say the cloud last 7 seconds. The radius of the dust cloud could be 450.

That’s my idea, what’s yours?

After another day of testing the Berserker, please please please revert the change to Rupturing Smash. The original version was fine. Knockbacks was still useful. This current change to 1 second immobilize really make using Hammer in Berserker mode useless.

Hopefully the dev will consider all these feedbacks and undue the change to Rupturing Smash. It’s just too weak right now.

This is why:
Berserker Hammer F1 was made for WvW.
Knockback in WvW is complete useless.
In 3 Years of WvW i was more safed by knockbacks then killed by it.
(knockback out of aoe)
Knockback is a free movement/dodge for the enemy.
You want the enemy to stay where they are and N O T !!!! move them around!!!

You cant make it a stun becasue it hits 15 targets. = op
Immo WOULD be better but 1 seconds is to low.

Most Melees are immun to Imo and the only caster that cares about imo is nekro.
(ele has way enough condi clean)

The dmg is a joke. Less than a AA…..

It would be better to make it a Daze on 15 Targets.

I have always advocated for a pulling effect on Hammer Burst for Berserker. It will be so useful. I also like ur idea of a aoe daze (3seconds) effect on 15 targets. That is much better than 1 sec immobilize which doesn’t make much difference. As a hammer warrior, if u go into berserker u basically scew urself for 15 seconds.

I think in order to make Berserker viable for pvp, allow Berserker to have access to both F1 and F2 burst. That way players can use the burst that suits the situation.

So you want a melee Barbarian who can wield a shield and swap weapon to a two handed Greatsword type weapon that builds adrenaline and bull charges into the enemies and smash foes faces with mace or hammer while having descent decent survivability like being able to tank damage ? That sounds like a staff elementalist to me.

I finally got to try all the specialization and I have to say hands down Daredevil is the best specialization out there and it’s the most fun I had with my thief in a long time. I love the style of fighting. This specialization was so well done. Good job whoever the dev is that created it.

Yea I’m so sad that they change the knockback of the Hammer burst to 1 sec immobilize. I was so planning to knock enemies around with it but now it’s totally useless.

I’m really not happy about the hammer Burst changed. I rather have the old Rupturing smash that knocks enemies back than the current 1 sec immobilize. However, what I would love to see is Rupturing smash to pull enemies toward the warrior. That would be a better ability. 1 second immobilize with low damage is terrible.

When the Berserker was first datamined, it showed a warrior with arrows through his chest with his arms out seeming to wish for his enemies to keep the attacks coming.

I had a vision that the Berserker was going to be a mode where a warrior can’t be killed for 15 seconds, the more damage he takes the stronger he gets. So if he loses all his health while in Berserker, he gains maximum damage output (say 30% more damage for example). However when Berserker mode ends in 15 seconds, the warrior dies immediately, no downstate.

So imagine a front line of warriors in WvW, goes into berserker mode and ravage an enemy zerg before they die.

The simplest way to implement this feature into the Berserker is to change the trait Dead or Alive to “Cannot be killed in Berserker mode and increase damage base on percentage of health lost.”

Just thought it would be sweet if the Berserker had that trait.

Counterblow too slow

I agree. Counterblow is way too slow to do anything. They should speed up the attack. I love the idea of adding a knockdown or perhaps even a reveal debuff or steal boon.

Conditions and stealth, it's ruining the game

A possible solution to the perma stealth problem is to set a max time limit on stealth. I say the maximum stealth duration should be 10 seconds. If the max is reach a 3 second reveal debuff is applied.

Also I think the problem with condition isn’t that it can do good burst damage but that players can be tanky at the same time. That’s just bad design. The Dire set needs to change so that Condi requires another stat to boost damage output like how Zerkers require Power Precision and Ferocity to maximize their burst. We should introduce another stat that affect condition damage so that it is impossible to be tanky and burst in condi.

Every class is dps, healer and tank all build in one. Why would you want to separate these roles to specific professions? I like the fact I don’t need other players to heal me or tank for me. I can do everything myself.

This post is truly inspirational.

I feel your pain. I run around boarderland trying to do dailys or farm badge of honors. But out of no where come this roamer who try to gank me. I try to run away showing him I’m not interested, but he keep chasing me half way across the map. Even if I use a quaggan tonic to show I dont’ want to fight, he keep killing me.

I want to tell the community if you see someone run around boarderland, that dont’ necessary mean he is interested in fighting. Especially those in quaggan form. Please leave them alone. If you see people taking a camp, that most likely he is just doing dailys. At least wait for him to take the objective before trying to kill him.

Obviously everyone will continue ganking the OP just like they continuing ganking me… Which make the post kind of funny.

You should play a thief and use lots of stealth utilities and traits. It’s the safest way to do dailies in WvW. You can even make ur thief tanky too.

Incoming War Buffs

The one thing that took the fun out of rifle is losing adrenaline out of combat. Before you can snipe players in WvW with killshot. That was so fun. Now you have to announce your presence by attacking them first then build adrenaline up for killshot. I think killshot range should be 2000. I just think rifle should be capable of out ranging bows.

I wish Dungeons or Raids in Hots will be more dynamic and unpredictable. For example, each instance will yield mobs at different spawning points as well as change bosses around so that you will not face the same boss each time and in some cases your party might face 2 or 3 bosses at the same time. Therefore, the dungeons will not be so repetitive and gets dull really fast. This will ensure more replay value.
