Stealth is very hard to balance in wvw, in pvp it is actually a very balanced ability in that it is kept in check by conquest mode.
Actually a big reason stealth is more balance in spvp is revealed last 4s, which means thieves can’t go back into stealth that quickly unlike how it is in wvw which revealed is only 3 seconds. That extra second allows more opportunity to counter play.
The current map system is the fairest. If majority picked map wins every time then the least popular maps will never get play. And that’s not fair to the minority that enjoy the those maps. Just imagine being in the other person’s shoes. At least the odds is heavily in your favor.
GvG is about unbalanced fights? All this time I thought each team field same number of players.
You can farm champions in Edge of the Mist, while u kill players along the way. Those champ bags are good source of income. And sell your crafting ingredients to the Trading post to get the most return from them.
I agree that wvw needs to be more rewarding. sPvP is fine right now though, lots of rewards. You get dungeon tokens too so u can buy “rare” dungeon gears salvage them for globs of ectoplasm and sell it.
On another note I kinda wish the return flight of the bladetrail will “pull” enemies like the axe skill of the Jotun Chieftain. That would warrant it’s slow cast time.
But AN goal is to keep warrior as realistic as possible so here we are..a slow and well telegraphed soldiers without any gimmick tricks like other classes and its will stay this way.
Yup, it’s pretty realistic the greatsword can fly back to us like boomerang.
Irk. Its also looks stupid as f, just like rush in current form and hamstring. But what we can do? REROLL. Axe throw has the same problem as it magically returns back to us.
I actually like the way bladetrail looks. I kinda wish it would fly farther and faster.

Because you’re hurling a Greatsword as if it were a boomerang (but in a straight line) without the aid of magic.
Maybe for weaklings, but my warrior is so strong he can toss a flying greatsword with just a flick of his fingers. I just want this game to reflect his true power.

Who should I fear ? I got no idea.
GG
Power Rangers with Sic’em.
This is probably the easiest move to dodge in the whole game. It’s bad enough that it travels slowly but it has such an obvious long windup. Usually long cast time is reserve for powerful moves so why a weak move like bladetrail have such a long cast time?
I truly miss the old days where I can sneak up to my enemies and killshot. Curse whoever came up with adrenaline decay out of combat.
Yes I agree. Instant cast and 30s cooldown would make this healing skill more viable. I would play with this healing skill from time to time if this was the case.
At the very least it should work on knocked down opponents too just like sigil of impact applies to stunned and knock-downed opponents.
You play in Black Gate right? I think I fought you 1v1 with my Axe-shield GS when you were roaming in Tarnished Coast BL. I am the warrior that wield a Twilight. We fought in front of RedBriar Tower for a while then the Jade Quarry zerg came and disrupt us and we both ran. I remember ur guild name and that you were a skullcracker.
Look at thief, ranger and mesmer: should Not be ele!, they are ligt-medium armor class, so how do a heavy armor and heavy weapon profession excell, surpast them 2x in mobility speed? it do not make sense at all.
These types of arguments doesn’t apply in a fantasy realm. If we are following that type of logic, does it makes sense that a light armor who wears cloth can withstand a chop from my greatsword? Does it make sense a dagger thief can penetrate my full metal armor and does so much more damage than my sword can?
PS: Thieves can run nearly as fast as warriors. In a pure sprint, thieves is faster than warriors. Most classes when build for speed, which lots of warriors in wvw are, can keep up with a warrior. Warriors are not twice as fast. Warriors are mainly melee class, therefore having better speed allows them to gap close or else they will never do damage to classes that can hit from range and kite them to death. The game is design with that in mind, realistic logic does not apply in video games. It’s about class balance.
I can solo arah. You don’t need a guide. Just watch youtube videos of other players soloing arah. That’s how I learn. I recommend Brazil’s tips on solo Lupi and Goku videos.
When I press my utility skill I want to be unstoppable – why have boon strip and counterplay that is obviously stupid
I AM A WARRIOR I WILL NOT BE STOPPED
Warriors don’t have boon stripping abilities. If they give warriors that, then sure that’s fair game.
Balance stance should follow the rest of Warrior’s stances and not be a boon but rather a stance that makes you have same effect as stability or just call it “Unstoppable” status. Therefore, it can’t be strip. This should be a unique feature of warrior’s stances. Defiant stances, Berserker stance, and Endure pain all have this attribute, so should Balance stance too.
PS: Let’s avoid the topic of Berserker stance being change to a boon status. That’s just speculation and I hope never happens.
I agree with killahmayne, a well-played power ranger will counter warriors 7/10 times. They simply have many utilities to do so. By the time you blow through your defensive tools to gab close, between their pet’s cc and greatsword they can still put a hurt on you. Then it’s back to their longbow pew pew with a low cooldown on rapire fire, if you have no LOS to help, u are dead.
That’s why it’s surprising that Warrior’s 100blade damage got nerf in previous patch when it roots you and you need to cc to even land it while Rapid fire is mobile and does similar damage at 1500 range and does not require cc.
I hope one day warrior 100blade does not root or increase the speed of the channeling.
It doesn’t matter what other players prefer because everyone has different taste. You should play the class that you find most enjoyable. Both guardians and warriors are viable in all game modes. I started this game as a guardian. Now my main is a warrior. Warrior to me by far is more fun to play. I like the aggressive style and mobility. Guardians are more defensive minded. You won’t know which style you prefer until u main both.
this site has all the builds for any game mode.

I would use this as it also helps buff your party. Just substitute the mace for the axe for your dual axe. Dual axe is great for farming I use that when I do open world pve.
Stacked might be harder to deal with depending on how many they get. I rather wait out their duration since it doesn’t require you wasting a cc to get rid of it.
Gaile will probably announce that the feature requiring 3/5 to kick will come out with the new expansion therefore buy them more time to fix the coding.
Stealth needs more counter play. For example, if you block or evade a backstab attempt from a thief, it should reveal them. This will promote higher skill cap and strategies between both parties.
May I enter this tourney solo? I would like to 1v8 and not share the prize money.
I struggle more with some champions than I every would with some players.. :p
The higher the ranks the more money you receive for the kill, like a bounty system. Killing the commander of the zerg = 2 gold? Killing up-level = no loot.
Maybe a good idea, but not very practical..
- If someone with rank 2000 takes out his alt, I’ll get no loot?
- If the commi tags down before dying: No gold.
I edited that part in my suggestion. But anyways, do you not want better loot? Let’s keep this “struggling against champ” info a hush hush.
Players are much tougher than champs in pve. I say they should drop 1 champ chest plus money depending on what ranks they are. The higher the ranks the more money you receive for the kill, like a bounty system. Killing up-level = no loot. Arena can put a daily limit to how many champ bags you can get so there is no way to abuse.

Moleni, you are awesome wvw player! Wish you are in my server TC. Yea, one thing I really wish Arena will change is make WvW more profitable so players don’t go broke investing money into defending, escorting, and scouting. I’m a roamer who likes to defend our camps and towers and hold off the enemies til back up arrives. This choice of play style is fun but wish we don’t have to go broke doing it.
Now I know who is behind the ranger buffs.
I don’t chase players who aren’t fighting back. Sometimes these players are just trying to get map completion. I only enjoy fighting players that wants to kill me.
They should award more loots or money in WvW. Taking over a Tower only gives you a silver?! That’s so cheap. With the high cost of food buffs (which is a must), I simply can’t afford to play WvW too long or else I go broke. I wish killing enemies would drop champion loot bags.
Curious about this as well.
Bought the game during last week’s sales, and trying to decide whether to roll a guardian or warrior. Was leaning heavily towards a warrior, then I visited this forum and half the post is about how warrior is terrible now. Not so much complaint on the guardian forum.
So… is warrior worthless now and not worth rolling for a new player?
You should play both. I started out as a guardian because I thought warriors are too basic. Then one day I decided I will play a warrior just to have one. Boy, I love my warrior the most of all my toons. The fighting style is exactly how I like to fight. The mobility plus the burst potential and the heavy armor is great. Not to mention the cc with stuns and knockdowns. So it really depends on what you like. Some players love guardians and some love warriors. You won’t know for sure unless you try both. Warriors are still good in all modes of the game, they might not be the best but they are still viable. A skilled warrior can do marvelous things.
You only have 2591 armor. I wouldn’t call that tanky. Anything over 3000 armor is tanky. That build is good for scouting and picking off fleeing enemies. But it’s not effective in zerg fights nor roaming 1v1 fights against good players. The upside is you can always get away if you find yourself in a bad situation. It really depends on what you want to accomplish in wvw to determine what builds works best. By the way I would remove frenzy and take bull charge to ensure that no one can outrun you.
I think Arena should make a “mini” season one for new players to experience to get to know Scarlet in a personal level. Remove the zerg content, make small group instances that are soloable. Going from her introduction at the Queen Pavilion to her destruction of lion’s arch to her final defeat. Just 3 episode.
P/D was not cheesy when players used to run Carrion gears. With the introduction of Dire sets, it made it cheesy. Now you’re tanky plus the stealth and blinds, practically unkillable if you play it safe. You also have good sustain and condition burst. Very low risk and high rewards. I admit I used to play this set for a long time on my thief but I gave it up cuz it’s not making me a better player since it has so much breathing room for mistakes and it is quite boring after while.
It’s whichever profession I play.
I would like them to give more variety of burst skills like having F2, F3, etc… maybe a new burst skill that creates a tornado which knocks opponents up into the air and allow the 100blade to teleport to the suspended opponent slashing him with a full 100 blade. After the last strike of the hundred blade you’ll land back on the ground with a stomp as if you had traited for Death from above.
Yes that’s all I want, so I can finally have a Yasuo warrior.
I love both arena and stronghold type pvp. I think Guildwars should have both and allow the player base to determine which mode become the premier esport. Meanwhile, I think conquest mode is dull and boring both as a player and spectator.
Oh what, really? The 10% damage increase doesn’t apply to below %50 health which is when Arching slice is meant to be used? smh
PS: I hope Greatsword #4 Blades trail should get a speed update just as thieves got speed update to dancing dagger. This skill travels way too slow to tag a fleeing enemy.
And it should be able to fly upwards to hit enemies on walls etc :/
Good point. It makes a lot of sense that it should.
I think shield mastery and missile deflection traits should be merge as one. That’s all that is needed to improve shield.
I’m happy with the fix but I hope they will fix Bull’s Charge too. That utility is so vital for my build and it either misses or over-extend after the knockdown. Again, thanks Arena for finally fixing these issues.

If it’s not ment to be useful for dungeons and fotm, then it’s ment to be doomed.
Really? Dungeons/Fractal is only a small fraction of the whole game. Guild wars don’t even cater to dungeons anymore, that they got rid of their dungeon team long ago. In Open world, axe offhand very useful. Not to mention double axe has good dps and with content as easy as in dungeons, any weapon set is viable if you don’t care to have the fastest record speed run.
With the recent change to adrenaline for warriors, axe off-hand is more useful in pvp. If they make Axe #5 block projectile too, axe-off hand usefulness would sky rocket despite not being the optimal set in dungeon speed runs.
Again, I am not against buffing axe off hand. I’m always for more buffs. But even if it doesn’t get utilize much in one aspect of the game doesn’t mean it’s doom. And for dungeons it’s always about the max dps so one off-hand weapon is going to be the best for that and currently it’s the mace. And players won’t use axe-offhand if it’s not better than the mace and if you buff it up to the point that it’s better than the mace. Guess what? You see a new thread complaining that mace-offhand sucks in dungeons and fractal. So the best thing to do is make sure each weapon set serves a particular purpose and that it is useful in different aspect of the game like how offhand warhorn is very useful in wvw setting and axe-offhand is best for open world farming.
I agree. These types of threads needs to be merged or locked immediately as those topics already beaten to death. And those topics really go against the design of Guildwars and it serves no purpose other than to rile up the players base.
I have noticed that whenever I do greatword whirlwind and follow that up with bullcharge before the whirlwind is complete, the bullcharge does not hit the target. Can you guys look into it and see if there is a way to fix bullcharge so it hits right after the whirlwind?
I’m sorry I missed to tell you I was talking about dungeons and fotm. The damage vs 5 is lower than axe aa vs 3 targets. The whirl is (even if it works) still useless since that little bit for (most dps of a whirl) burning isn’t gonna change anything, also it’s random where the bolts fly.
Even pure axe builds prefer to use Axe/Mace + /Sword for dungeons, since sword #4 is a good single target dps increase. I wish the axe offhand skill #5 would have just the same dps as the axe aa, or at least 80% of it. This would make it viable against crowds, 4 or 5 targets, vuln stacking while gaining adrenalin too very quickly. Right now it’s too weak in pve (not open world) content.
Again, Axe off-hand is not meant for dungeon or fractals. I’m not against buffing it so it could be viable as long as it doesn’t destroy it’s main purpose that it’s serving now, which is great for farming mobs. Remember, warriors got to earn a living too.
Revert suggestions for all people wanting to introduce mechanisms to avoid berserker gear to achieve its optimal damage :
- If you have more than 2000 power, you have a bonus of Vitality, even more when you reach 2400
-If boss is immune to crit every critical damage you would do is returned as heal
-For every percentage of crit above 50, you gain 1% of toughnessI mean berserker prefix is max damage so if you want it to not achieve max damage then give something back.
In the same idea since full toughness/vitality/healing power sets are too resilient, why not introduce over complicated mechanisms on boss that reduce your defense every minute of a fight? Some special skills also that would corrupt your heals into damage ?
If everyone start to think about how to make what he doesn’t play weaker, I’m sure everyone will be very (un-)imaginative…..
It’s kinda getting silly. Why not just save all that complicated programming and just give everyone the same set of gears, no diversity at all. That will end all this complaints that his gear is better than mine. Heck we could go even further and delete all 7 professions and make one profession and only allow one build. Everyone will play the exact same character just have a different skin. Sadly, even then players will find other things to complain about. This is really a non-issue.
If any class composition can complete dungeons then there is no trinity. Stop obsessing over some class composition finishing 1 minute faster. Who cares. Play with people who actually enjoy the runs instead of people who throws a tantrum if you slip and fell and cost them a few seconds off their run.
