All this zerker hate makes no sense to me. It’s just a freaking gear set. Every game has an optimal dps gear set. That’s part of mmo game design. WoW has heroic raid gears that does the best dps. Are the wow players going to complain that Raid gears need to be nerfed so pvp gears can do the same dps as raid gears in dungeons?
There is no problems here to be fixed. Players who are complaining need to realize it’s a self-created perception problem. Just look at it as zerker = dungeon gear for optimal runs. PVT = WvW zerg gear. And if you want to go your own route then you can mix and match gears. Every gear sets can succeed. Just because one set can do it faster doesn’t mean it needs to be “fixed”. That’s how it should be.
Axe offhand is good for PvE. The main purpose of axe off hand is for farming mobs. Axe #5 hits 5 targets so it’s excellent for tagging mobs. That’s it’s nitch. I’m glad warriors have a weapon that is great for farming. I would hate to have to switch to my staff guardian everytime I need to farm mobs for loots. I think each offhand weapon should serve a particular function and I’m glad axe off hand is different than the rest. It’s not the best for dps nor pvp but the best for farming as a warrior.
A magical fairy appears and change all good Sylvaris into humans ala Pinocchio.
Things that could improve mace are:
1. Increase range of skullcrack
2. Mace block should block for the entire duration against range attacks. And counter blow should remove boon.
Yes, hopefully Bull’s charge gets fixed asap. It’s not working right. It would be nice if a dev would respond that they are aware of the problem.
but arent you aware that certain buffs are nerfs to other classes, and vice versa?
Not in pve. All nerfs is a nerf to our party.
Anet really needs to stop the nerfing as it is making the classes more boring to play. There are many traits and weapon sets that needs major buff to make them viable against the metas.
I can’t believe people actually argue over different gears in the game. In dungeons, zerker gears are best, but in WvW, soldier is far better, and in spvp, celestial. And some people have mix gears that suit their build and play style. And in Open World events, it nice and helps a lot when players run healer builds.
They whole point of GW2 is that all builds are going to be viable in a sense that you can complete your mission with them. The only difference is the rate at which you can achieve it. A gear that reduce your defense for the sake of offense should reward you with faster time. That’s the whole point. Why would you hate others for choosing that route? Why would it bother you that others prefer playing with players of similar mindset? I personally don’t run with zerker only groups not because of their gear choice but because I don’t like players who are that picky, they tend to have elitist attitudes. I play with any type of players who is willing to have a fun time. And I have no problem finding a group of such players.
Heroes of Lion’s Arch is the best, a very meaningful title.
I am loving it – this is what Orr should have felt like, ie a battle zone.
How it will pan out long term as populations move on, or if we defeat Mordy is a long term concern, but for now I am thoroughly enjoying Silverwastes
As long as the zone continues to be rewarding, then players will always play in it. Just like Orr, the content is old but people farm there all the time. It’s nice to have zones that offer different game play while it is as rewarding as other zones. That way players cycle through different zones if they get bored of one place.
I just want to congratulate the team at Arena for creating this action pack zone with it’s wvw mechanics. I haven’t had this much excitement and fun from a new zone in a long time. I really like the reward systems in this zone, good incentive to complete objectives. Digging up treasure chest is neat too. Only thing I could suggest to improve it is for the Legendary bosses to be buffed up a little more. They go down too fast. Make them a little more challenging and perhaps add a special chest at the end after defeating them. The zone bosses are nicely design. I enjoy their mechanics. Good job!
PS: If you ever plan to incorporate a world boss event into this zone (Teq lvl difficulty), I hope you’ll add a feature where players can build seige weapons to attack the boss. Just imagine a fleet of Golems beating on a boss. Would be so much fun.
Mace or should I say the skullcrack build was viable before they nerfed it to the ground. I would like them to revert their changes. Move unsuspecting foe back to adept. And make skullcrack instant cast again with the old animation. The range wasn’t a problem when it had instant cast. Also bullcharge was more reliable back then so they need to fix that as well.
Greatsword is fine as is, they only need to fix Rush and revert the damage nerf on 100b and whirlwind.
40 seconds when untraited. Only Venom share thieves use that trait.
Highly doubt that. I have seen many non-venom share thieves uses it, including power-condi thieves.
(edited by Doon.2364)
One of the most deadly elites in the game is now only 32 seconds cooldown when traited. Holy molly! O.O
Beserker gears are not available at low lvls so just get any power gears. Axe mace is a good set for group but if you even plan to solo a hard boss or simply want to increase ur survivability, use axe sword. The sword will give u blocks on a short cooldown.
Hey guys.
However, I just am dead-bored on my warrior and wish to drop it as soon as possible and play another class.
Sounds like warrior isn’t for you if you find their fighting style boring. You might as well move on to another class. Find something you really like and then spend that money on them.
I have 2 legendaries and my friend has over 8 legendaries. Dungeon grinding is not the best way to do it. World event bosses and Temple events/Group events in Orr are much better methods. In those events you get a lot more drops from mobs which could translate to precursor drops or other high value drops. Just sell your loots to Trading Post. In those events, sometimes I get several t6 mats worth more than a whole dungeon run in just a couple of minutes. Other things u can do is craft time gated items and sell them. Each time there is a major content update, sell all the new materials that are in demand. I do dungeon runs mainly for the tokens needed to craft an item or for the fun of it. It’s a kitten poor way to make gold unless you are path selling or speed runner.
PS: If you don’t have a staff guardian, make one for the sole purpose of killing mobs in group events in open world. Staff guardians get more loots than any profession I have tried farming with. The auto attack with staff guardian makes it easy to tag every mob. Make sure you are in a group to increase your chance to get credit for the kills.

I’m glad Arena fix this bug in a jiffy. Player ganking in pve zone should never be available. Open PvP should never exist in this game. Keeping the two playing modes seperate is what makes this game stand out from other mmo.
Good luck trying to fight a thief using that. Be careful not to over-twisted your neck or pass out of getting all dizzy.
never and id be kittened if it did…. why would they sell a gemstore version WITHOUT the glow and add one with it?
The gemstore one is just a skin. This one is an actual ascended greatsword. I like both versions.
probably Tuesday?
I wish!

Any news when will it come out? I notice the blade glows. It would be nice if it has a blade trail to go along with that glow, similar to fractal sword.
I enjoy using Rampage from time to time but the long cooldown is a huge turn off and why I rarely use it. It’s cooldown is 150 seconds (2 and half minutes) long. The engineer also has Rampage with their Elixir X but their cooldown is only 105 seconds. I would like our Rampage to be around 90-105 seconds cooldown. I think that’s pretty reasonable. Other classes got or getting cooldown reductions. I think it’s time warrior’s utilities and elites get some considerations as well.
PU mesmer is a totally different thing though. The worst spec ingame IMO, although being able to block clone deaths without still getting the condi helps. Still, a half decent PU condi mesmer will be half AFK while destroying you.
Shatter mesmers are just as bad on this spec. Try Skullcracking something with a teleport on an 8-10 second cooldown.
Hence why I avoid mesmers in WvW or PvP. It’s bad enough that mesmers have clones and teleports, but why do they have to have stealth too, and not to mention their shattering cc abilities. That’s just way too much defensive capabilities.

Many threads have complain about the adrenaline decay out of combat for those same reasons. Warriors are having trouble keeping adrenaline even in mist of battle, esp in PvE. Most warriors are fine with losing adrenaline when we miss our burst skill. But the adrenaline out of combat has been too big of a nerf. Many of us has suggested giving a grace period before adrenaline goes on decay, something like 10 seconds. It would have solve the issue. But unfortunately it seems our voices aren’t being heard. The adrenaline decay also made a few of our traits less effective to completely useless. For example, our trait Thrill of the Kill , which states “gain adrenaline on kills”. Of course you can’t keep any of it, so that trait is effectively useless. Not to mention, warriors no longer can open up a fight with a burst skills so tactically warriors are limited. Rifle warriors got hit the hardest from this change as they no longer can snipe people with killshot.
I’m hoping the dev will revisit this issue. Warrior dps has been greatly affected by this change in pve, esp when we can’t carry Berserker power into the next enemy while in battle. It’s kind of sad when your character says “Gaining Adrenaline” or “Adrenaline rising..” when you are in fact losing it.
IMO rampage needs to replace utility skills instead of weapon skills. Perhaps replace the heal skill, 3 utility, and elite skills with different items on the bar. The skills would have to be reworded as to not make them overpowered.
I have tried rampage and I always feel severely kitten when i used it because it takes away my weapon sets and provide little in return. Basically I feel like I just turned myself into a giant moa bird.
I agree. That’s what Rampage should have done, replace our ulitility skills not our weapons skills.
You guys are either Trolls or completely ignorant…
The link I provided is an Announcement of World Tournament 2014.
There seems to be Prize money for the winning Team. This means that GW2 is finally E-Sport now… Unless I’m mistaken prove me wrong otherwise cause how I see it, E-Sport is when players win prize money in PvP tournaments as a team and people come to watch or participate.
Also GW2’s PvP takes lots of skills and strategy so it’s appropriate for E-sport genre.
This is why I support it becoming E-Sport… We need games with combat like this.Because you seem to be honest with your post, let me give a serious answer.
First, the bolded part is a problem right there. Not many people watch the streams because thre’s not much fun in doing it. This is for several reasons:
A lesser one is that the conquest game mode does not makes for many great plays. It revolves around bunkering points instead of pushing tactics. The audience greatly prefers more offensive-driven games. The scoring system has a passive feel to it. Turnbacks take a slow time and are unexciting. Generally, they come of too late. And frequently enough, tight matches are decided by whichever team is the luckiest by scoring that 1 extra point first. Which can be very accidental.
But a bigger reason is that GW2’s game design disregards visual or tactical clarity. Between the huge amount of particle effects, invisible procs, pets, skill spamming and lack of telegraphed attacks, you can’t understand anything of what is happening on the screen, even as a player, much less as a viewer. Traits sacrifice clarity and skillful playing for the sake of customisation, to make up for the very restricting skill system. Pets passive AI is mathematically too impactful and too frequent, and traits incentivate builds to bring as many pets as possible. The lack of skill weight, generally as a direct consequence of no resource/ energy system, makes skill spamming highly effective, which in turn overloads the UI with condition and boon icons, and the screen with particle effects. Traits also contribute to UI overload. No energy also leads anet’s devs to place more emphasis on skill cooldowns, which in turn demands more skill quantity to the combat system (else, you’d be auto-attacking all the time when waiting for the cooldowns to go off). On top of this, most weapon sets lack any build-up and momentum or decisive telegraphed attacks. There are many situations where skills within a weapon are all “equally useful” and equally fast, with no build-up or climax. Bad for the stream viewer, bad for competitive counter-playing tactics.
In addition to that, GW2’s pvp infrastructure is poor – no, it barely exists. There’s no incentive for competitive growth. Hotjoin is a failure at teaching players good pvp habbits or giving them a stress-free environment for casual play/ learning experience/ non-competitive matches. Solo and team queues have crude systems for fair matchmaking. Leaderboards are broken, hard to measure and relegated to outside of the game. The reward system feels a bit crude and incomplete.
For GW2 to be “esports”, it needs more game mode diversity, it needs an effective match infrastructure, and it needs core gameplay concepts to be reshaped for the sake of more active playing, counter-playing, tactical clarity and UI/ visual clarity.
This guy gets it! Arena needs to read this and overhaul spvp to a different type of game mode.
My hope is that, given how poorly it went over this time, the for the new players excuse is dead!
Not yet. I know a lot of new players find it very confusing to craft a legendary. They don’t know how to get the ingredients and has no clue how to obtain a precursor. So I suggest Arena help the new players out by making it easy for them to acquire a legendary. First, they must simplify the ingredients: Remove Map completion requirement. Remove Gift of Fortune. Precursor will be given to them upon their first birthday. In fact, you don’t even have to use the mystic forge, that’s way too confusing. Throwing stuff away to get something back? That’s highly illogical. So once players have all the ingredients, the legendary fairy will appear and hand you the proper Legendary.
The whole idea of rangers was meant to be the master of archery. So it’s should be expected that players who play rangers to prefer longbows as their primary weapons just as warriors prefer greatswords. To try and nerf longbows would be a bad idea, esp for that reason. I main a warrior and I am happy for Rangers that they finally have a viable weapon for burst. I have no issues with their rapid fire. I think it’s nice that Rangers can finally give me a good fight.
On my main acc I play GS/Longbow a lot in soloque around top ~30, and no, please don’t increase cast time. The whole point of it is that you need to find a way to land your burst this adds counterplay too.
There are many other ways to make the set better, like moving around some traits on the Strength line (the minor is is just useless and we have to put 4 points into that usually).
Or give 100b a 50% chance to block projectiles, so we can use it defensively while being kited.
All I’m asking is 1 second off the cast time. You’ll still need to setup the 100 blades if u want to land it so that doesn’t change. It would be awesome if 100blades has a 50% chance to block projectiles. Sorta make sense since we are swinging like a mad man.
I would like to suggest a new item to add to gem store. How about attack animations? Since we have different finishers why not different 100 blades to choose from? Imagine you can choose your own 100 blades animation for your warrior. Would be cool. I would buy it for 1000 gem.
Expand it’s mechanic, giving another way to dump adrenaline with F2.
This way, while F1 would be the offensive burst skill, F2 could’ve been the defensive/utility option.
It could be based on your Off Hand and reduce the need of passive defense Warriors have, because their mechanic currently doesn’t support that.
F2 for offhand weapons, excellent idea!
That’s the impression I got when I first bought the game is that there will be continue updates of new weapon skills. More skills = more build diversity = more fun. 2013 was suppose to be the year when things start rolling out. But it came and gone with no change. This game has a lot of potential. I just hope there is still time to turn the ship around and finally give the players what was promise. I wouldn’t mind unlocking all weapons skills and give players the option to choose their own sets of 5 skills.
Play as you like, who cares about AP points. I play since beginning and I only have 7k. I just did the things I want to do. I wish they would add a feature that you can hide your AP.
But the living story is re-playable.
Technically it’s possible but who would want to run it again and again and again? It’s like the personal story, u just want to do it once and never again. So that’s what I mean when I say it’s not replayable content.
The living story has taken up a lot of resources to produce. The contents aren’t really replayable. It’s more or less one time deal just for the experience. I sometimes wonder if ArenaNet didn’t devote so much time to the Living Story and just focus on permanent contents, new maps, new open world events, new dungeons, new weapons skills, new race, new profession, new legendaries, new pvp game mode etc.. then gw2 wouldn’t feel so stale after merely 2 yrs.
We are getting them by the end of 2013.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/
So sad. There was so much hope when we read it back then.
You know another difference between guardians and warriors.
1: Warriors have very good potential for staying on a target that tries to kite due to multiple abilities that knock down, stun, cripple & immobilize. (guardians have 1 knowck down on a long CD and a couple immobilizes all on moderate CD’s)
2: Warriors have almost twice the base health. (this forces guardians to gear for more health in PvP or be downed extremely fast)
3: Many warrior attacks scale much much better with power
4: Warriors have a very effective condition based build (guardian burn builds stack damage fast but are very easy to counter with cleanses)
5: Warriors have decent ranged potential on moving targets (try using guardian scepter on a target 600+ units away while they strafe back and forth)
You want your gap closers to be faster ? All right.
The guardian community would like some of these issues looked at.
What’s funny is a lot of warriors would use those gap closing skills to run away from a triple med guardian. lol
Adrenaline decay out of combat hurts warriors the most. Even in the mist of combat situation u could possibly lose all ur adrenaline. There needs to be a grace period before decay starts. 10 seconds as suggested above would certainly help. Fix all traits that are affected by adrenaline change. Buff lesser weapons sets to encourage diversity.
If ANet ever change the way warriors mobility works, I would drop the warrior class. I used to run a Guardian when I started this game, never was a fan of teleporting. If they change warriors to do the same thing, I might as well go back to my guardian who has a lot more utilities. Style is equally as important as function.. All professions should have their distinct style of play.
My solution for bullcharge would be to increase the knockdown to 3 1/2 seconds since it’s not very reliable. With an extra second and half u can at least make up the gap difference if you over shoot.
Just a thought. Would probably improve game play for lower tiers.
I’m in T1 and I would jump on the opportunity to transfer down to Bronze tier if it was free or very cheap like 100 gems.
There are two reasons why I avoid fractals even though I enjoy doing dungeons. 1. It’s way too long and have annoying puzzles. 2. I don’t like RNG for skins. If they would shorten fractal runs and give better loots and guaranteed tokens for skins, then I would do it.
This will greatly improve the quality of life for all greatsword warriors. Over the last few patch, warriors has been hit pretty hard. Over-nerfed in my opinion. Arching slice was disappointing. 100blades and whirlwind damage nerfed was uncalled for. Warriors are suppose to be known for their high dps but now they are below average.
Speeding up the cast time of 100blades by even a little bit would make Greatsword viable in pvp. I am not asking for Rapid fire type of boost, something like 1 second off the cast would be nice.
No! I don’t want Bullcharge to be a teleport. It’s one of my favorite moves in the game. I like the animation. I like that feeling of charging at my opponent at high speed. So I say no to the teleport idea. I just want it to work right. That is all.
why not just 5 heroes, caith, zojja and co.
I prefer to stomp on Npc’s that I dislike. Caith is a sweetheart. I will just relinquish the capture point if she came up against me. Now if it is Phlunt or Trahearne, I would take so much pleasure in stomping them over and over.
I thought that was what Hotjoin was for.
Not even close. Hotjoins are noob stomping ground, one-sided beatings. Playing against AI’s will help new players understand the fundamentals of spvp before they move up to hot joins.
(edited by Doon.2364)
If this idea were to go through, I would like to suggest using Trahearne as the AI guardian and Phlunt as the AI engineer. Imagine the influx of pve players coming to spvp just to get a chance to kill these two characters?
everything can be done. but this exact thing will cost money instead of earning some. i can hear the director board of ncsoft laughing at this idea across the whole continent.
no moneyz = no way
Improving player experience in a game can always translate to more money. If new players are having fun, they will likely to stick to the game. Spvp needs new blood.
I don’t think it’s ridiculous. I’m not sure if it’s a good ROI but it’s not ridiculous.
NPCs in pve events already follow basic scripts for going to a location, capturing, and killing whatever is around. There’s already (albeit pretty poor), training dummies in the mists that use class abilities. Put those together, add a little spit shine, you might have something poorly passing as a pvp ai training mode.
Exactly, it can be done. We don’t expect them to have smart AI right off the bat. But with what they got right now, they can still put together something for newbies to play against. Over time, they can slowly improve the AI’s intelligence.
