Gw1 guild halls were pretty empty too, unless you were there to dual or guild vs guild. Gw2 guild halls gives you all of those options and way more, you just gotta build up for it.

Idk, maybe we are just different people but I think the HOT maps are really well made and look amazing.

If your trying to get a point on the map but can never reach it, just ask for help. I got on my Guilds team speak and just did it with friends. If you have no friends or if no one else is around to help you find a POI (Even though most of the time they are) just look it up on Google or youtube. The story missions you do while you are out there explain which masteries to go for next to continue the story which also translates to unlocking more of the map.

Almost everything you do in this game gives you experience. So I just play it regularly and the xp just comes in. Some of the achievements you can do, reward you with mastery points as well. Once you have the mastery unlocked, you never have to do it again. Its just a one time thing for your account.

I don’t have much of a problem repeating some of the larger scale events. You can make pretty good money from it and it fills up the gap of a few hours. The events aren’t faceroll either you actually have to play to succeed. The mastery system is better then rep grinding in other mmos, and actually grants useful abilities. Your not just fighting mobs, your also fighting the map.

Gw2 has more things I like then I dislike and I’m a big fan of gw1. I’m interested in seeing where this game ends up and will always continue to play it even if newer games come out.

So Anet hasn’t forgotten it. Right now they are mainly focused on WvW and some other current content stuff. Don’t know when living story 1 will be available but at one point it will be available.

ANet! Please continue to post what your working on next or planning to implement next/ more often. Working on things in secret all the time is giving a lot of players the misconception that your not listening to them and that your game is lacking and will see no change.

Also, please explain your changes in more detail. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people make up these conspiracy stories about why your company is making “said changes” to the point where I don’t even know who to believe

I remember hearing about a PTS server in the works. Hopefully it gets released soon! Players should be able to test out changes and provide feedback before they go live. Stronger communication is whats gonna give players hope about the future and keep them excited to keep playing.

Nah, i rather have the warrior equip the banner on his back and have it move with him. If they do that, banners would see soo much more play.

It would also help warrior out with their number one problem = sustain. Could take that banner regen trait with them. Would also be good for pve. So many times when i’ve dropped banners, people just abandon them and not take them with the group.

Are some of you guys actually serious? Have you not played other MMO’s or games with expansions this generation? Of course “IF YOU WANT” to remain current in any game, you have to get the expansion so you can experience the new content and features, while also keeping the game alive long enough to continue to enjoy the content (with no monthly fee) And thats only if you wanna “CONTINUE NEW STUFF.”

This isn’t Call of duty where you only buy the core game and play the same 8 maps over and over again but get excluded from the extra 3 maps in the DLC. This is an mmo. Normally, when an expansion comes out they raise the level cap and add new abilities. And, the only way to get those new abilities and level cap is to BUY the expansion or get left behide.

I don’t see how this is a surprise to anyone. ANet themselves have been advertising these elite specs for MONTHS. Thats why they are called “ELITE.” It’s also promised that more “ELITE” specs are planned to come out. Call it pay to win if you want, but unless your brand new to the game, having to put the new elite specs into your build was an absolute given.

This also applied to GW1. YOU NEEDED the new skills to REMAIN relevant.

Conspiracy on why Warriors are UP

Dragon.8762

I had this idea where like, if a warrior uses one of his skills and misses, that skill doesn’t go into a full cooldown. Instead, it goes into a very short cooldown. When that attack actually lands, then it goes into a full cooldown.

The reason for this is because, warriors heavily rely on making sure their attacks land for both damage and defense via stun, interrupt, etc. Its the only quick counter I can think of to counter all the blind spam and evade.

Decent Berserk build for spvp

in Warrior

Posted by: Dragon.8762

Dragon.8762

I tried something similar, but with a few variations, but I don’t think I’ve tried it long enough to speak much to it. Here’s the differences in the version I ran:

Axe instead of mace
Eternal Champion instead of Bloody Roar (seems to work well with Outrage)
Cleansing Ire instead of Rousing Resilience
Heightened Focus instead of Burst Mastery
Destruction of the Empowered instead of Brawler’s Recovery
Marauder Amulet

In retrospect, I guess Cleansing Ire isn’t that great with Berserker since you’re only getting 1 condi cleanse now. I also may go to Burst Mastery to try that out. However, it’s tough for me to give up marauder amulet since I’m really tied to the eye-watering damage of the build and I’d rather have vitality than toughness, even if it’s less of the stat.

Marauder’s amulet could also work, but the extra toughness you get with knights amulet combined with rousing resilience, grants you like 3k plus toughness and the heal is too good. I haven’t done the math of the extra 7% damage reduction you get though. The passive tankiness is just too good.

Idk how you could not bring brawler’s recovery, that skill is like a must have :p

As for eternal champion over bloody roar, bloody roar is also just too good. It has a few different use cases. Like when you are fighting a mesmer or a thief that goes into stealth and you are next to them, you can activate berserker and taunt them towards you. If you are using greatsword, you can quickly get an Arc divider off. Or if someone is slightly out of your damage range, you can pull them towards you land a skull grinder which will do a ton of damage and inflict alot of condis.

Axe, would be good for extra auto attack damage, but mace with the block, interrupt, and the daze is better. Esp when fighting ranged opponents. You get the extra reflect.

First off, idk what or why people keep saying “Kitten.” It doesn’t makes any sense to me. Are you trying to swear but don’t actually want to swear?

Anyways, I rather not get off topic of what the OP is posting but, if I just said I don’t have much problem with dragon hunters, then most likely I don’t have much problem with dragon hunters. Everything you just said is situational at best especially in an spvp match where you will have team mates. Are ya gonna win? Maybe. Are ya gonna lose? Maybe.

Are dragon hunters really powerful? Yes they are. Will they get nerfed, idk because it hasn’t happened yet, but my hunch says yes. And even if a guard didn’t bring traps but instead ran a pure burning build or meditation build, or a pure support build and they played their class really well, your gonna have to counter play regardless just like any other class that brings something really powerful to the table. Does dragon hunter traps cause you to counter player even harder? Sure. But its not impossible.

Dont listen to @Dragon.8762, You want real pvp? Go character creation, make Guardian spec him as dh, win game. As DH you need to contribute less in fights to win than ur enemies to survive your burst. Its perfect class for starters, offers almost no punishment for playing bad, rewards for both u playing and enemies missplays(they didnt dodge in 1/2 sec so they should be dead!)

As guard you dont need to bother to understand map or enemy class or thier strongpoints. JUST smash buttons feel like hulk!

Obvious troll is obvious. I’ve mainly been playing ranger and rev this meta and don’t have many problems with dragon hunters. Why? Because I researched the class. I looked at all there traits, what amulets they usually bring, and runes. I know when they are on a point, more then likely they layed their traps there.

Knowing this, you can quickly evade them. On rev you got unrelating assault which will trigger the traps and evade all of them, or just dodge at the right time with the stability on dodge trait. On a ranger, you can just hit them from afar while pet triggers the traps. Plus, with all the hate they have been getting lately there is a high chance of it getting toned down before leagues. Sooo learn to play. Many people and classes can defeat it.

Dragon.8762

It’s always been this way. Even in gw1, gear didn’t matter as much. In gw2, you pick your weapons, you pick your skills and traits, pick your amulet, and pick your sigils. Then, you are good to go.

Gw2, is a rare game where you can just pvp if that’s all you want to do, and you’ll be fine. If you want pvp, where gear matters alot more, go to world vs world, or join an active dualing arena in someone’s guild hall.

In spvp, unless your talking about how one looks, gear doesn’t matter. Skill and knowledge of the map, your class, and other classes, those all matter.

Dragon.8762

Pvp is complicated. I’m sure the majority of you already know that spvp isn’t just about “what do you do on this map?” But also what do you do against this class? How can your class contribute? Where should you be attacking? What should you be defending? Should I help this team mate? How do I get out of this bad situation? Etc. The list goes on and on.

When you pvp, you need to automatically understand that you are obviously fighting against other players. These players will play their class of choice and are for the most part, aiming to win. Just like with anything else in life, if you go in there and you don’t know what you are doing, your most likely gonna fail or have a bad time. Could Anet better explain pvp? Yeah, they could. But could you also do the reseach? Yeah, you could as well. Could you ask a fellow gw2 player? Yeah, you can do that too. I mean, how do you think current pvpers got it? Most of them originally, started with either the same or even less information then you have.

Here’s my advice; learn your chosen class in and out. A class you believe you will have success with and want to play. Learn the abilitis of all other classes so when you die, your not like wtf just happened? And, also learn to counter that class with the one you’ve chosen.

Join a hot join match, maybe a pvp daily one and just run around the map so you can get better familiarized with the map. Most people there, are there just for dailies so they won’t attack you.

Join a 1v1 hot join server, say that you are new and wanting to practice fighting one on one. Depending on the people there, they will help you.

Watch live streams on twitch of people fighting, and ask them questions. If the streamer doesn’t answer you, maybe the chat will. Oooooor, you could just Yolo it and try to figure everything all out on your own by trial and error. You have plenty of options, now you just gotta do it. Good luck.

One thing to also keep in mind, is proper rotation and positioning. When I say this, i’m not just talking about making sure you stand out of the aoe or skill rotation, I’m talking about map awareness and knowing when you should fight/ not fight.

As a warrior right now, if you are being attacked by two people trying to defend a point, just leave it, and go for another one. Your only good either via a 1v1 or plus 1 or focus fire during a team fight because of all your stuns.

The key to killing someone, is pretty much killing someone before they can kill you. The extra defense will help ensure you get it done. Its still gonna be a tough fight no matter what tho. To do good, you really need to understand what every class does, and know your skills in and out completely.

You can’t be an average player, you gotta play really good. Your health and toughness will help if you make small dodging mistakes, but your key stuns, blocks, and heavy hitters have to land. Thats when warrior starts to show its old age against all these stronger classes.

Warrior raid tank?

in Warrior

Posted by: Dragon.8762

Dragon.8762

Yeah warriors can tank, are you kidding me? If your low on money just get yourself full clerics gear. For accessories: Nomad Amulet and 2 Nomad rings. The rest clerics.

Craft yourself 6 runes of the defender: When you block an attack get a 3k heal that will scale with healing power.

Traits:
Run Defense Trait = “Dogged March”, “Defy Pain”, “Rousing Resilience”
Tactics = Empowered, Empower Allies (If another warrior is running this, trait for “Shrug it off”) and “Vigorous shouts.”
Berserker = “Smash Brawler”, “Dead or Alive,” and “Bloody Roar.”

Skills:
“To the limit” as your main heal, “Shake it off!” “For Great Justice!” “Outrage” and “Headbutt.” Headbutt could also be swapped for Battle Standard banner for group res.

Weapons:
Greatsword/ Mace and shield.

Use your shouts to keep your health up. Block enemy attacks for regen and burst heal from runes. Pop outrage when you get stunned/ knocked back etc for another burst heal and 1000 toughness thanks to “Rousing Resilience.” If you are not getting stunned and need the heal, use headbutt to stun yourself, then pop outrage for free 3k -4k heal and toughness gain. If your running low on health, use greatswords mobility to move out of the way for a little bit to regen and allow cooldowns to come back up, which won’t take very long considering your heals are gonna be around 20 seconds each.

This combined with team support will make you god mode, unless you screw up by popping everything at once. Use only when you need to, and rely on team mate support to pick you up when you make a mistake.

If you want a full toughness build, run the same traits, but this time have full nomad gear on everything, and run dolyak runes.

Are warriors dead in the pro scene?

in PvP

Posted by: Dragon.8762

Dragon.8762

I have no idea how the “Warrior is easy to play” stereotype is still persisting when a warrior badly played will instantly get destroyed by most of the other elite specs badly played.

I also really hate this saying. Have they even played the class? Warrior is hard mode right now. It all comes down to, killing your opponent before they can kill you. But with all the blind spam, evasion, teleports, blocks, protection, heals, and condis how in the world is the warrior gonna survive? Especially in a team fight in melee range. Once their cooldowns are out, they are better off running away to regen health.

They need an entire redesign. I don’t think just buffing berserk would be enough. Warriors are just too reliant on Strength (added burst damage) , defense (Survive another 4 seconds), and discipline (Utility that supports both burst and survival).

Dragon.8762

Look people, warrior is fine at everything when it comes to pve. The new Berserk spec adds another way for warriors to deal damage via condi. The main problem is pvp. The damage is great, but they simply can not survive long enough to get that damage off compared to other classes.

If you really play warrior, if you really play pvp, or wvw with a warrior, and if you really understand all of the traits a warrior has, then you would know that the class is suffering a lot right now.

[PvP] Berserker ShoutBow... lol

Dragon.8762

well druid is like shoutbow which got catapulted in the future while warrior is staying in the stone ages.
Why should I use a knife if I can have an aka 47?
Why should I put effort in this if anet didn’t even do a single change last patch to obviously the worst specialization?

lol yeah.

Berserker trait line is currently not as much as attractive enough to sacrifice one of defense, strength or discipline currently, or even tactics.

When something is newly come out, it will not be used unless it is better than existing stuffs. and it seems like most of other classes except warrior got new traits line that is better than existing traits.

Personally, I wouldn’t also put this berserker shoutbow into original shoutbow’s variation due to it just need 2x better Dead or Alive with 25% heal threshold buff to replace that with defense trait line. and some way of cleansing conditions while in berserker mode.

Currently, this Berserker ShoutBow is troll build, bit effective but not that great from my perspective.

It doesn’t mean that new Berserker trait sucks. But it means that it is just not that great & effective new trait that would replaces existing stuffs. But it is very fun to play berserker test builds simply becuz it is new stuffs lol..

Yup, I agree. I thought the same way when I beta tested it too. No matter how you try to build a berserker to work with current traits, you end up stabbing yourself in the foot because you gave up on another trait line to fit it in. At this point, the berserker trait line needs to be on par and better then the defense line or better then the discipline, which i doubt will happen without some serious re-balance of the class its self.

Is the torch worth using?

in Warrior

Posted by: Dragon.8762

Dragon.8762

Torch is only good for PVE condi dps. But most warriors are gonna be running phalanx greatsword builds to boost party dps. Torch is only going to be used if theres more then one warrior in a group and that warrior is running phalanx.

As for the other comments about the Berserker spec, i’m not gonna lie. Its not in a good place. The entire warrior class is gonna need a re-work to make that spec viable.

Devs reasoning for no baseline fast hands?

in Warrior

Posted by: Dragon.8762

Dragon.8762

I agree, fast hands needs to be baseline. Warriors rely wayy too much on that trait its not even funny. Even my friends who never play warrior agree. Weapon swapping is apart of the warriors rotation for maximized dps and even survival. Being forced to trait it all the time doesn’t support build diversity. This is even more apparent with the new Berserker spec which doesn’t seem to have a place anywhere unless your doing pve condi dps.

And even if your not doing condi, you still wouldn’t want to take Berserker because you’d have to give up on either more dps more survival. The only way to keep both, is to not trait discipline, but if you don’t trait that, you won’t get fast hands. Theres soo many things wrong here, I could write a freaking book! Its awkward really.

By the far worst class in pvp warrior?

in PvP

Posted by: Dragon.8762

Dragon.8762

I’ve been playing warrior for a very long time in both spvp and WvW. They are totally fine. Granted I play hammer/greatsword or mace and shield/greatsword for lots of stun and high damage setups.

I’ve faced against a lot of good players and beat them, and usually not all of them were won by pure warrior skill and abilities, but by using the enviroment. Such as line of sight, or hiding behide a corner and waiting for someone to pop their head through for stun chaining them into a greatsword burst.

In terms of spvp, there are many places where you can line of sight in order to bate another player into coming on to the point with you. Once they are on the point, they have barely enough room to “Kite” you, and even if they could warriors have lots of nice skills to close the gap. General rule is, if someone is running away from you and not threatening your teams point, why chase them? Stay on the point, and fight on the point = win.

Recent Nerfs, No Rampage Nerf?

in PvP

Posted by: Dragon.8762

Dragon.8762

I play warrior with rampage on it, but i only use it when fights turn into a 1vs2. Any higher and I’m only using it to escape. Besides that I think its fine. I’ve fought plenty of people who were smart enough to counter it in a bunch of different ways.

The thing about a warrior is that, a warrior needs to stay aggressive at all times in order to win a fight and lower enemy team numbers to get the win. Rampage helps them accomplish this, by dealing as much damage as possible and getting rid of players so the rest of the team can focus on other things like capping points, supporting team members/ supporting extra damage etc.

Or you can learn to fight against it, and realize that the same strategy you used to kill one person, may not work on the next.

You could also switch out signet of stone for Sharpening Stone (More bleed damage and condi removal)

There would be only a few changes i would make.
Traits:
I would change oak heart salve to anything else, probably offhand training or vigorous renewal. The extra evasion uptime either of those two would have you would be more useful. Also OHT allows dagger to have a huge poison uptime and allows better pressure since it homes in before you axe #2 and you can crippling talon from farther away.

Natures bounty to either natures protection or circile of life depending on if you are playing in a team or not. iirc natures protection procs before the damage is taken so could save your life there. Plus you only have 2 sources of regeneration so its nout that useful.
Also depending on the matchup you may want to swap barkskin/EB for poison master. The extra uptime and damage is useful for shutting down sustain classes.
Sigils:
On the axe i would change Earth to Geomancy since because of the bounces you cant be sure which target gets the bleed. Also better pressure since swap, #2 #5 is 11 stacks of bleed.
On the shortbow i would also probably change the leeching to the torment sigil. More condi damage and also more cover condis for your bleeds. Always a good thing.

Torment on short bow isn’t a bad idea, I’ll try that. As for Axe, I’m going to test both sigils out and see which is most effective based on number of bleeds, distance from single target, and how effective it is against multiple targets since AI plays a big role for most pvp builds.

Hey everyone,

This is the first Guild Wars 2 Video besides streaming that I’ve made and would like some pointers/ advice/ or anything else:

  • Don’t use splitblade if you can’t hit with at least 3 of the 5 axes. You can bait the enemy to evade by using Stalker’s Strike, then use Splitblade.
  • Always use Winter’s Bite, it both chills and makes your pet apply 10 seconds of weakness, which can be a big help. Time it either as the first attack when swapping to axe to make the damage-trading into your favor, or just before swapping to shortbow to give some breathing room with easier kiting.
  • Don’t use concussion shot unless you want to intentionally interrupt a healing or something of value.
  • Poison Volley should ever only be used in 2 cases: At long range just before the enemy is using a healing skill or at almost point blank ranger where you can hit with at least 3-4 of the shots.
  • If you swap to Axe while still being at range, open up with Crippling Talon and then close in while either basic attacking to build your pet’s might1 or sending away a Winter’s Bite. Then use the Stalker’s Strike -> Splitblade combo
  • It is advantageous to use every condition applying skill on your weapons before using Entangle. Since you have Krait runes, you want to make sure that the Immobilise, Torment and Bleeding effects stay, so just spam your enemy full of other conditions.

1 – The pet gets 10 seconds of Might whenever you get Might

Notes on the build:
Very defensive, but you can experiment with a few changes that do not necessarily reduce defense.

By changing Oakheart Salve to Offhand Training, you get access to more frequent Stalker’s Strike which now becomes a pretty decent gap closer. You would also get more frequent access to Crippling Talon with bleeding and cripple.

If you notice that you can stay above 5k health in most of the fights, you should remove 2 points from Wilderness Survival and dump them into Skirmishing to pick up Quick Draw (and the minor trait Furious Grip) which would lead to more procs from Sharpened Edges because of the fury on swap.

One last thing you absolutely must do:
Change Nature’s Bounty to Nature’s Protection because the only regeneration you have is Oakheart Salve. Troll Unguent has it’s own effect and it does not count as a Regeneration boon.

Good luck!

All good points, thanks for the advice.

The extra health regen also affects the rejuvenation trait under Nature Magic as well as Oakheart Salve. Contributing to about 17 seconds worth of passive regen once both are triggered which is often.
Oakheart could be replaced with off-handtraining, but I think the extra regen contributes greatly to the survival aspect of the build. The 2 second decrease on the dagger skills could be worth it though.
I have been looking at evasive purity. Maybe changing that to Nature’s protection? Or Enlargement? Enlargement looks very good to me.
The extra two points I invested into Wilderness survival for Bark skin is worth it. As for more crit chance, the fury you get thanks to the survival of the fittest trait on top of the passive crit chance is good enough instead of putting points into skirmishing.

I really appreciate the advice! I’ll adjust play style to spam bleeds first and other conditions and skills when the the situations present themselves.

I agree. I have fun with my condi ranger, too. I play a 20660 build. Although I can’t imagine taking Muddy Terrain over Sharpening Stone. SS + Splitblade to the face is a beating! (always try to get it off up close so all 5 attacks land on the same target). Also, even tho you have SotF, I’d recommend Empathic Bond over Bark Skin.

Muddy Terrain has saved my life countless times. Having lots of immobilize allows you kite or get away from people successfully unless blocked or otherwise. (More survivability)

With Sharpening stone, you already have tons of bleeds. Arrow 1 bleeds from the side and on crit thanks to “Sharpened Edges” trait and the 60% chance to bleed; “sigil of earth”. Fury is always usually up allowing you to crit almost all of the time. Combine that with Krait runes which is all about bleeding and you are just over dosing yourself.

Bark Skin over Empathic Bond I would say is user preference. In some of the clips I showed, bark Skin allowed me to survive at extremely low health. Where as Empathic Bond might have allowed me to survive against their conditions a bit longer.

I’ve been playing condi ranger for about 2 months now and its such a blast to play! Hope this encourages others to give this beast of a build a chance

Nah, we would all rather stay on the Jade Quarry Server. But thanks.

If your talking about Class; I’d say survival of the fittest condition ranger is a really good straight forward dueling class. They are very good 1 on 1, have lots of evade, immobilize, good damage, and are quite tanky.

Hello,

I’ve been playing off and on since gw1 and have 4 other people including myself that are looking for a much more active guild. We do everything, but love SPVP the most and WVW. So if your guild is into that can we just make love real quick?

Team speak is a plus, I hate typing. Its too slow. I’m personally a goofball so I’m semi entertaining but at the same time am proud of my profound intelligence and quick wit.

I play warrior, ranger, and thief.

I just start streaming ranger spvp game play soloq a few days ago and doing very well. I sometimes have a few friends join, but tbh it’s more fun with friends personally. (Two friends, mostly just one)

How to balance rapid fire

This is how you balance rapid fire = reduce the vulnerability stacks from 10 to 6 or 5.

Or remove vulnerability all together, and increse the damage by 7% to 10%

I’m sure a lot of us would be happy with the 10vuln going back on hunter’s shot as a single application.

This would actually make the skill stronger though, not weaker (or balanced, but people mean weaker when they use the word.)

What about a 3% increase in damage but no vulnerability?

Actually thinking about it, putting the vulnerability back on hunter’s shot wouldn’t be that much of a buff since it’s a big red sign shouting “DODGE NOW TO NOT DIE” when you get 10-15vuln and the ranger disappears.

Yup, that works as well.
