Any Class works fine!
I’ll be happy to give you some tips in game!
I’m playing GW2 right now so I guess you can always whisper/mail me.
Also I got skype too for voice chat. We could play together while voice chatting if you are up for it.

Yeah I know our story continues, like I said, which is why I’d like to make sure the entire story for my main was the way I’d want it is all. Just a personal thing.
But yeah we have many options at the start which all come to one, but so did ME. Sure 15 is a lot more then 3 and yeah ME branched out more then GW2 does with it’s 3 options every once in a while, and yeah GW2 has one ending (MEs 3 aren’t all that much more then one option though lol), but unlike ME an MMO like this one continues on a lot longer then just the story.
Take our home instances for example, everytime we go back our choices are there and sometimes a few of us don’t like those choices we made and would like to change them, in ME at least you could load up your already played character with all his/her upgrades and re do it all, which is the same as taking a lvl 80 character and downscaling them to the appropriate lvls to re do our story missions.
Making an alt would only satisfy my desires partly, the experiencing of other story arcs and alternate characters, but in the end none of it would matter whether I liked the options better or not cause in the end my main will always be my main character. That’s why I asked those questions.
And yes I know this isn’t a really important aspect of the game, I would just simply love to go back through my personal story as my already created, lvled, and geared main character and experience the fullness of the GW2 story. If Anet is worried about people using the story to farm for gold and what not then just remove rewards after the first time through or make them incredibly difficult. Neither are complicated options.
P.S. No I don’t want to make GW2 more like ME, just thought I’d clear that up cause it would only be a matter of time until someone butted in and accused me of that lol I mean the ONE ending to our PS in GW2 was a thousand times better then all three endings of ME, no over exaggeration from my point of view
I honestly doubt replaying old instances would happen but you never know…
Yeah, I hope they focus back on Personal Story but I guess they are seriously leaving the PS idea to the dust…
The world will never know!!!
Actually I’m not sure but I hope so.
ArenaNet is currently working on putting their time and money on Living Story which are all temperarly story content.
Sucks I know but they said something about tieing it with personal story and making it permanant. So perhaps it will but next year from now?
I hope so. The personal story is just awesome (In my own opinion).
Probably in a few months or so
I wish you guess was right about “in a few months”.
But it’s been a year and no personal story has been added!! T_T
The problem is, they are putting more time and money on the Living Story instead of the Personal Story…
I rather they add tons of new Dynamic Events while focusing on Personal Story and new Areas/Zones to explore that tie with the personal story and more dynamic events that occur.
But, I’m not sure if we’ll be seeing it anytime soon.
Make the Personal Stories have cutscenes where you can choose what to say like the one in SWTOR!!!!!!!!!!
=D
Here are some general suggestions for ArenaNet that I have on how to possibly to improve aspects of the personal story in the future:
1. More biography options: People love customizing their characters. It’s a vanity people enjoy that allows for a more individualized character. There should probably be more added in the future for the particular races that expands the replay value of races.
2. More meaningful choices: People like knowing that their choices have actual effects on the game world and on their personal story. When choices are illusory or equal in insignificance, people become detached to the story. Effects of choices made should reverberate beyond the 10 level chunk of missions.
3. Greater variety within the Order missions: Even if you play the three different Orders with three different characters, there’s not a tremendous amount of replay value. If you pick the Priory, you will be partnered with Sieran, who dies at Claw Island. If you pick Whispers, you will be partnered with Tybalt, who dies at Claw Island. If you pick the Vigil, you will be partnered with Forgal, who dies at Claw Island. There’s no real variety or significant choice in the Order missions. It would be nice if we were given the option of a wider berth of choices for our partnered character, each with their own particular fate (other than just death), that was actually dependent on our choices. The racial missions felt better constructed. I try rushing through the Order missions, ESPECIALLY the terrible racial sympathy missions, as quickly as possible.
4. A dynamic home instance: Despite early claims, the personal story had a minimal effect on my home instances. The NPCs with whom I journeyed neither recognize nor acknowledge me as appropriate for my background. (E.g., Andrew and Petra of the human commoner story will treat you as if you had the ‘commoner’ background, even if you picked ‘noble’ or ‘street rat.’) Overall, there was minimal change on anything in my home instance apart from the occasional idle and hard to locate NPC. ArenaNet said that the home instance was something to show people the accomplishments of your story. I’m still not what I can show anyone. Furthermore, the world at large is filled with dynamic events. According to ArenaNet, these dynamic events, and downscaling, give us a reason to revisit these zones. But what reason do we have to revisit our home instance? Suggestion: What if the home instance contained its own set of dynamic events that would change based upon your biography and personal story choices? These dynamic events, just like in the open world, would have an effect on the home instance environment and NPCs.
5. Replay missions sans reward: Players should be given to replay particular personal story missions albeit without the final reward. This would give players a chance to relive their story (either by themselves or with others) and do what they enjoy (even at max level). Final rewards do not need to be attached for completion once you have done it at least once.
6. Profession quests: In order to actually explore some of the lore of the world, it perhaps would have been nice if ArenaNet also added ten levels to explore the profession that the player chose, whether tied to their race of choice or to a wider international organization/scenario.
I like the Lore of GW2 and I think these are great ideas!
Hopefully ArenaNet is listening to them! =P
The story will continue. Right now I think they are just focusing on the mini side story which I think is gonna lead into the next expansion meaning continuing the personal story. Right now we are only able to fight Zhaitan, I think the next story may be about Jormag, or Krack. Just wait, if you are so into the guild wars story I suggest you read the novel, Ghost of Ascalon, Edge of Destiny, and Sea of Sorrow.
Let’s hope so!
My friend Glimly would like to see Kracka but I’m in favor for Jormag being the next Elder Dragon! =D
I heard that ArenaNet is making Living Story more perminant and self-contained instances, which could continue the Personal Story and tie with it but I’m Not sure how that’s going to work…
They need to focus on Personal Stories and better presantation like the cutscenes from GW1.
CLASS Story sounds like an epic idea! =)
I also would like to see the Personal Story to continue expanding from where it left off.
They could do so much with it but they choose to spend that money on Living Story instead… ugh!
Yeah I want more Personal Storyline.
This is a big thing and should be a priority instead of Living Story Events.
Raids NO THANKS!
Gear Treadmill NO THANKS!
I left FFXI for a reason!
Give us new Campaign and zones to explore!
We have Raids already and it’s called world bosses and dynamic events and WvW which is the entire game.
Just, NO Raids from old school traditional mmos plz!
For Endgame:
I want a new Campaign on the Personal Storyline and new zones to explore and do contents I enjoy! I love more new dungeons, Story Dungeons and especially hardcore Jumping puzzles!
And Lots of hidden contents and mini-dungoens!
With tons of exclusive rewards for each content above!
I DONT WANT:
New Level CAP!
RAIDS – No Thanks!
GearTreadmill – HELL NO
I left other MMO for this for a reason! lol
Maybe this might help:
Get in game and I’ll be happy to help you out in PvE!

Or in game! =) Currently play so if you are on meet me there.
Are you kidding?
Waypoints and Portals make perfect sense in the lore of Tyria.
Asura technology since GuildWars 1.
Mounts don’t make any sense to have in the lore.
Tryia NEVER had mounts to begin with.
Have you seen any NPCs ride a horse or a lion? whatever… -_-
So um why was a thread from June necroed. No really why?
Because a player by the name: Krocaine.9743
Has Bumped the thread… lol
Other than that, I wouldn’t know why.
or send me mail
^^ I just sent you a Mail ingame. You are welcome to join my Guild and I’d be happy to teach you everything you need to know to get started and help you learn how to build the character you wana play.
Im playing the game now so if you are online, see you in game!
Thank you jedi master. You solve my problem.
@dreamy there are a lot of healer in this game. Know your game
He means there is no Class DEDICATED to healing…..all classes can heal themselves and most can provide some sort of support that results in healing nearby allies.
NO CLASS targets an ally and uses a HEAL skill on them….that’s what he meant by it being different in GW2.
Thanks for clarifying. <3
I use Greatsword / Hammer a lot in Open world PvE and they compliment each other very effectivly.
Perhaps you don’t know how to swap the weapons and use the skills you need at a given situation? That’s usually the case with people.
I don’t mind helping learn if you wish to procceed with Greadsword / Hammer however, if you find other weapon combinations work best for your needs, then I say stick with what you are comfortable.
Feel free to add me in game to your contact if you have questions you wish to ask since I’m playing right now =)
I’m using a 50 inch Plasma LG TV since GW2 Beta and I play it with my xbox360 controller.
The resolution I go to is 1280-768p.
Best Rez for the size of the TV since you can see the text and everything good quality with the 50 inch monitor.
But if you can, avoid Plasma TVs and go after an LCD or LED.
Plasma TV only has 20,000 hours average life span.
I had to open my TV and repair it myself to avoid costs. It only cost me $40 to get the parts and do it myself. But to actually pay a repair man? that would of cost me $600 since my warntee ran out fast…
Go get LED or LCD cause they got 50,000-80,000 hours of Life span!
The best way to play is with good team mates.
You and your team mates must Coordinate ((Control)) while Contributing ((Damage)) and being able to ((Support)) each other.
If everyone in your team knows how to coordinate together with the 3 combat mechanics, Damage/Control/Support then you guys are off to a good start.
Next is the matter of building a good strategy!
Remember, an Excellent skill execution, and Strategy is the Winner!
While that’s a great idea, I think those individual class guides would best be assigned to their Class specific forums (with links to them from this Guide?). Just a thought.
This is a very helpful and informative Guide no matter what your GW2 experience level.
I appreciate the feedback!
Definantly something worth considering.
I think you have a good point.
_
man I havn’t updated this guide with new information for a while.
I’m thinking of putting more time making combat 101 guides per each class.
I think it could be very helpful for those visual learners out there.
Plus I got some new information I might need to updated for the written version, and can be shorter for the better.
^^ I don’t do much WvW, Rarely but I do PvP and PvE.
I also play 8 classes so if you want my help and take on professions, feel free to jump in game and ask me!
I’m playing right now as I type!
Feel free to add me to contact.
lol Hey you still havn’t logged on…
Wait a second… Is there there healers in this game?
No healers and No tanks.
The game’s combat system is quite different.
Check this guide out to get a head start to what to expect:

Get online now and let’s game! =D
awesome seems like its gonna be a fun game!!! now for what prof to play =D
Get online and I’ll help you with that! =D
I play this game on xbox360 controller but your Razor naga should do the trick fine.
No macros in this game, it’s highly skill based.
No Grinding either, Just play and have fun exploring and doing tons of new content as you explore the world and enjoy the rich lore.
Play this game like a normal RPG game, avoid playing it the same way you did as WoW.
There are tons of contents to enjoy:
((Dynamic Events)), ((Personal Stories)), ((Vistas)), ((Skill Challenges)), ((Jumping Puzzles)), ((Open-World mini Dungeons)), ((Story Dungoens)), ((Explorable Dungeons)), ((Fractcal of Mists)), ((World Bosses)), ((Minigames)), ((Holiday Events)), ((Gathering)), ((Crafting)), ((Exploring)), ((Heart Tasks)), ((Living Story Events)), ((Holiday Events)), ((PvP-T)), ((WvWvW)), etc etc.
Tons of these are self-contained content you can enjoy as you play and you will get EXP and rewared for EVERYTHING you do!
Just have fun as if it’s a single player RPG game in a Massivly Multiplayer Online World where you can solo or play with friends how you want!
Welcome to GW2 =D
I advice you to NOT listen to other people’s advice to what to NOT level up as your alt.
I play all 8 classes and I can tell you, they are all fun and great class to play.
I’d be happy to spend time finding a class suitable to what you enjoy by testing them out with you.
The goal is to have fun with the class you play and do well at playing them for any situations given.
Contact me in game if you have time =P or on skype
I’m not online. I logged of about 10mins ago so any help would be lovely.
You can’t get online right now?

Character name: Rebecca Chamber
Trixter, Viper, Phalanx
Are these 3 Armor Skins going to be permanently in the Gem-Store?
Cause I don’t have money and I want to save up and buy them on my own convenience.
Would be sad if they just disappear =(
If you want, we can game together!
I’ll also be happy to asnwer any questions too while we play!
My Skype username: DreamyAbaddon
Just give me a call whenever! =D
@Sirlath
You have issues man…
I offered to help out and we were suppose to meet up in game.
You don’t just block people for No reason or else people wont help you.
My Advice: Don’t ask for help if you don’t want it.
Goodbye.
I wouldn’t mind helping you on this =)
I play all classes and I’m also a Guild Mentor, so if you are also looking for guild too, that’s another bonus.
Anyways, You can be any race you want, depending on what look and story you are into for the journey. I play all races.
As for classes, I think it’s safe to assume you are new to the game so I’ll teach you all the stuff you need to know in deciding a class and playstyle that fits you.
You can contact me in game or on skype

Grinding is horrible idea…
The point of this game is to explore, adventure, and discover new areas and events, Personal Storyline and so many contents to do and see.
Repeating same content of the same event chains wont help you level.
It will slow you down and become repetitive.
I recommend you to not grind, but to just play the game freely and discover new events and content the game has to offer. Do the things you like as you explore the world.
When you are not thinking of leveling, and you just have Fun playing, You’ll get far quicker than you know it.
Also if you are into PvPing, you can start that right away!
My advice: Play the game as if you’re playing Skyrim.
Dont play it as if you where playing a traditional mmo.
Also make friends, join a guild and play with your buddies.
Sure you can solo but it’s more fun playing with people.
After all, it’s a Masssive Multiple Player Online game!
I’ve done Dungoens with people who don’t understand team play.
That doesn’t mean they are selfish, just means they are ignorant and need to be taught about the run and how to work together.
This is why I only do runs with friends lol…
In group plays:
You need to coordinate ((Control)) with your teammates while ((Supporting)) each other and contributing ((Damage)) in some way.
In Solo Play:
You need to mentain your Own ((Control)) and ((Support)) yourself when you need to while dealing ((Damage)).
It’s very similiar to solo but Damage/Control/Support are Weapons/Utility skill mechanics which is why it’s important to learn how your skills work to know how to benefit in solo and group plays together…
Then comes Traits to build and enhance character of playstyle.
Problem I have noticed is people don’t really read their skills or traits.
They kinda just button spam thinking whatever skills not on cooldown should be pressed, there for, you end up playing with players who you might think are “Selfish” when really, in the end, I notice “Ignorance” of not “knowing” which can be taught.
I made my own Xpadder Profile that works PERFECT on the Xbox360 Controller for GW2.
I do NOT wish for Controller Support like TERA.
If they do manage to make the Xbox360 controller support for this game, They should have the ability to turn this support /OFF for those of us who like to use our current Xpadder Profile instead.
Other than that, I wouldn’t want the support if it cannot be turned off.
This could destroy the game for me if I can’t use my Xpadder Profile the way I designed it for if this Support was made.
Xpadder FTW.
