Raid bosses in WoW are big yes… spending 15 minutes looking at something’s foot isn’t epic though.

didnt read
d/d has no counter
Reaper handles Rev quite well, so no.
D/D ele’s are countered by signet necros. They can easily corrupt boons, which gimps d/d damage without might stacks, they can send conditions back on the ele and they can throw chills and fears down to break the ele rotation which causes huge gaps in their offense and defense.

I think devs are a bit scared to give us easy access to burning, because of some secondary aspects.
We don’t have access to burning (outside of Dumbfire) largely because of theme, same reason Guardians don’t apply tons of conditions.
Which is amusing because Guardians are the best overall Condi users in pvp right now because burning is overtuned.
Tarnished Coast
Zerker is the safest bet, there is no content we have seen so far that it wouldn’t be the best at.

I kinda want
1050 Power
1050 Ferocity
560 Vitality
560 Precision
Basically current marauder with Precision and Ferocity switched.

tbh, necros should get either 25% or 50% life force out of the gate anyway.
That’s basically bullkitten, Necros should have 100% life force to start with. Does any other class start with completely unuable class mechanics? Do mesmers have all shatters on cooldown to start a fight? Do thieves start with 0 initiative?
Tarnished Coast
Nerco is the easiest class to counter. If you cant counter nerco its mostly a l2p issue.
let’s break down the most common buildsignet, corrupt boon build—-this build is good against heavy condi build
power well—— this build is extremely strong when fighting on point
power well bunker——this is the bunker version of power well build
standard powe nerco——low sustain but high burst in dsall the build have common weakeness
1. Range….just cc and range by the time they reach you half hp gone
2. 0 disengage ability—— the only class tht have 0 disengage skill
3. Spike damage———nerco is bad against spike damage cause they don’t have block, etc
4. Stability——-class that have near to 0 stability
Necro here!
1. Range depends on build and location, LoS is an easy way to avoid this as a necro. You are also not doing anything with the point so unless you are playing courtyard the necro is at an advantage until you move to the point and deal with him.
2. Yep, once you go in there is no going out… until friday… then we can run the kitten away whenever we want.
3. This depends on life force. We can go into shroud while disabled and take half damage while in shroud making it fantastic for soaking huge bursts. Life force is also relatively easy to get back in a build with dagger/wh which is typical among necros.
4. Yep… again though, only until friday.
Mesmers are probably the most effective way to beat a necro as they are capable of throwing more at the necro than he can face tank while still avoiding the main threats of a necro.

While the reaper is awesome to play it’s nowhere near top tier atm. Chrono’s and Heralds are miles ahead.
Tarnished Coast
i’ve been having lots of success w/it too then i noticed the terror ticks…
1 tick is for 200, i wanna make a bug thread or sth but i dont believe the devs will actually see/repond to this, unless im somehow mistaken
Probably not a full second of fear… you get the full damage with 1 full second. If you have 1.5s fear you’ll get ticks for less damage to cover that 0.5s
Tarnished Coast
Pretty sure you should be deleting trapper rune from the game not adding it to spvp. It’s the most ridiculously annoying thing to play against.
Tarnished Coast
Yeah, Necros by far have the most unblockable attacks.
Revenants have more actually…. they get them passively through traits too.
Tarnished Coast
In terms of raids, I think the days of only power and only condi will be gone. If the beta raid is any indication of direction, we need hybrid builds that can fill a few roles so we don’t have to spend hours getting the right composition. That is a place I think Necro shines as it’s so easy to spec into curses for condi and just throw everything else into power. Also, the burst heal with ressing potential and no bleed out is pretty amazing.
In a raid you don’t need to hybrid on the same character just across the raid in general… which means zerker revs and sinister engi’s not necros.
Tarnished Coast
Probably easiest to have combat log write to a text file and you could parse from that.
Tarnished Coast
I’d like to see
2s Weakness per tick
1s Chill per tick
Allies transfer conditions to enemies every tick (1-2 per tick)
Heal allies in range based on the damage done
Tarnished Coast
Actually, the best tank is not the tankiest character, but rather the character that can tank without dying while putting out the most damage. I would argue reaper to be one of the best contender for that role.
While true keep in mind one of the main goals of the tank is to keep aggro and that means you need the highest toughness (bonus points for shield) which means as a reaper you NEED to gear fairly heavily for toughness which basically forces condi spec for damage and if you do that you will either not use RS much or take a DPS loss by using it devaluing your tanking.
Engi on the other hand can just toss on codi+toughness gear and run through their rotation just the same, do more damage and any extra damage they take the druid will take care of.

I can stack 6 burns on my own without bath runes as well as 600-1000 from chill, close to 30 bleeds, 20 poison and sometimes 40 poison, 7-14(depending on runes) stacks of torment plus fear triggers which adds terror damage. The condition damage the necromancer gets is extremely high on just their passive numbers. They can stack clost 3.5k condition damage stat? Something like that. And I’ve even heard of 50 bleed stacks along with sustaining other conditions such as poison and chill. Very little of the damage comes from physical. On average about maybe 700? Is this all sustainable at once? No, that would be insane.
I’d like to see a video or at least some math on the rotation that shows how you get 6 burn, 30 bleed, 40 poison and 7 torment on something at same time.
Read what I bolded in her comment
So how much can you sustain?

I’m not sure why some think we have to do the same dps as any other profession. Will it stop you from playing Necro?
I’m sure some guilds will require specific classes/builds in raiding and hey, that’s how they like to play. But for me, I’ma play whatever I think is fun and I’ll do my best to be optimal without worrying too much about the whole min/max ideal.
It’ll stop people from accepting reapers
Tarnished Coast
Based on Char’s description, it sounds like groups are specifically trying to build to not include a Necro. It makes me wonder what might happen if they allowed the Necro to have a place.
Also, how many boons did you need to strip every 10 seconds? With a Focus and Path of Corruption, I feel like you could do that without issue if it was just a couple. If it was more than 3, what class can strip 3+ boons every 10 seconds alone? What does that class sacrifice in order to gain that ability?
Boon stripping is irrelevant, every raid is going to have a mesmer with a sword (#1 strips boons). Necro really doesn’t bring anything someone else doesn’t do better, which is par for the course for us. We are a lot better than we were though.
Tarnished Coast
In one of the other threads I approximated that reaper dps in optimal situations sub 50% mob health comes out to 17.6k (and it is approximate, add a significant margin either side), not done the above 50% calculations yet but i’m expecting it to be between 2/3 and 3/5’s of the sub 50%. I don’t think that dps is going to be too big a deal, but the issue of necros not giving much back to the group that is currently useful (and not filled adequately by a class that is bringing other things alongside it, i know we stack lots of vulnerability and can boon strip, but vulnerability gets passively applied by enough classes that it should be covered, and your already bringing a mesmer or two for alacrity so boon stripping is covered there) is still there. The encounters are not there currently to force the breakup of the current optimal template for group content clearing.
Considering I’m seeing 25-30k GD’s, combine with Mesmer quickness you are doing this every 0.625s those numbers don’t add up at all.
Tarnished Coast
I ditched the 50% shroud crit for Dhuumfire even with a power build, the extra damage of having 3-4 stacks of burning is nice considering you already get 50% from DD and 20% from fury
Tarnished Coast
73 hits of Burning.
So you’ve been burning for 73seconds before you died. And conditions are op?
lol and you think this is somehow balanced? It completely makes the argument of “run more condi cleanse” irrelevant. Burn stacking is broken. It cannot be defended.
I tend to just throw it back at the guardian and laugh at him dieing 2 seconds later
Tarnished Coast
Welcome to pvp. The amusement park for eles. But serious, if they are cele ele running daggers, most classes will have a problem. I think their counter is a burn guardian.
Necros are probably a more effective counter. Very high survivability, boon corruption, condition transfer, multiple unblockable hard CC and chill. Makes it easy to throw them out of rotations, make them fight with weakness instead of huge might stacks and they can’t keep up with necro sustain.
Tarnished Coast
Clearly they are trying to persuade people to play dungeons, .
I’m going to start posting these quotes from the AMA whenever I see people post this unfounded opinion:
“Really interesting question. Our intention is to deploy ascended components and gear across the whole of the game rather than focus it in one particular location. This was a a mistake and one that we will not be making moving forward. We do hope to find a balance and ensure that the world of Guild Wars 2 is as accessible and populated as possible and moving forward you will be able to see how we intend to execute on this goal.”
“So anyway i kind of went of topic here so in short. We don’t intend to have an item rarity gear treadmill, we intend for the progression for gaining these rewards to have lots of different avenues for different types of player and where possible lower no fun grind within the whole of the game.”
Ahhh good intentions… those solve all of life’s problems.
…oh wait.

1. When did you begin playing?
BWE 1
2. how many hours total do you have? (/age)
539
3. What’s your most gold banked so far?
160 ish?
4. Do you have a max level character (s)? (number if more than one)
3
5. List 1-3 areas / zones / events / tp; where you spend most of your time for income.
Orr, Dungeons, TP
6. Do you mainly use MF or not?
Yes
7. Have you ever got an exotic weapon from a mob? If so, how many and total?
3
8. Have you ever got an exotic weapon from a chest? If so, how many and total?
0
9. What’s the most number of rare weapons you have looted in one day or 8hrs time?
I got about 10 per hour pre 15-Nov. I’ve gotten about 0.2 per hour after 15-Nov.
10. How many rare or exotic weapons do you “expect” to loot in one hour of time?
Rare’s I would say 5-10 with MF gear and a full group. Exotics maybe 1 per 10 hours of play.
11. How many lodestones have you looted total so far? (all types)
I have no idea
12. Do you craft? If so, do you have a 400 crafter? if so, how many?
Yes, all of them
13. Do you sell your looted crafting mats? (specify optional)
Nearly all of them yes.
14. Do you feel your return, (in terms of items, completion, income, etc) for your time, has been worth it?
Prior to the world mob drop rate nerf yes, after … no. Only reason I still to it is because I need karma and don’t want to pug speed runs in dungeons.
15. In ONE word, what needs improved most; from your perspective?
Progression
Specifically the removal of endless vertical progression.

Did 292 salvages(using Master’s) of the exact same L80 rare item and got 276 ectos, so about ~94.52% rate on ectos
I broke them down into smaller sets while I was doing them and the values were roller coasting around from 58% up to 158%. I’m not sure if ectos count as “rare materials” but I do normally get about double with BL kits but those are way to kitten expensive now.
End of the day I made better gold/hour than if I was farming so I’m not going to complain.

Animation cancelling has been in game and used frequently at least since I started(beginning of beta) not once have I ever seen ANet mention it was a bug or any notes related to fixing it. The issue is quite simply that actions complete faster than animations and breaking the animation allows you to chain into your next action faster.
Is it an exploit? At this point I still say it is not until ANet declares it a bug.
Tarnished Coast
My only real issue with scepter.
I’d like to see #1 be a beam (think mesmer GS auto) and #2 be a pulsing AoE symbol, it’s the only way I see it being a weapon that works with our traits and is actually useful to it’s maximum range.
Tarnished Coast
We need scepter to be made into an actual ranged weapon. We don’t need a new one. Staff does great AoE damage at 1200 range so really the only thing we are missing is decent single target the scepter seems to be intended to do that but due to poor design does not.
Tarnished Coast
No surprise there.

Anything with stability can run right through it, which bothers me

But if it’s about participation, you can participate in everything. If you’re mad about the time of the special event or the time in which the holiday ends, how would you fix it to please every single human on the planet able to participate? Or do you want to do away with one-time events and events that must end?
You could have bought the items off of the auction house instead of attempting the lottery.
Repeat the event every couple hours for a day?
Tarnished Coast
The tomes were awesome until they removed stability at that point they became very underwhelming. Renewed focus is decent if you invested 5 into virtues. I wouldn’t consider it strong enough to be an elite skill though. I’d honestly rather bring a 4th utility than any of our current elites.
Tarnished Coast
well they had this to say:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/halloween/Special-Event-Timing/first#post545536
As some of you noticed, we have published the time of the special event which will occur on Sunday, October the 28th at 12:00 PM Pacific Time/19:00 GMT.
On the holiday team, we are fully aware of the fact that not everyone can be logged into the game at specific time. We’re also aware that people live in different time zones, and those times can potentially fall on different calendar days. This is why each act is a phase, or a period of time, rather than a moment in time.
The one major exception is the beginning of Act 3, which is something that I think most people will want to be around to see. The choice of 12:00 PM Pacific Time/19:00 GMT on Sunday was a very informed, calculated decision. It was primarily based on the fact that it’s pretty much the peak of our weekly concurrency, which means it satisfies the highest possible percentage of our users. It also means that it’s the same calendar date whether you’re American or European.
For those of you wondering, having the event at separate times for separate zones is actually one of the worst options. Whatever happens is going to be on livestreams instantly and then on YouTube about five minutes later. At least this way, everyone has a chance to experience it in the game, without having it spoiled by the rapid availability of video on the Internet.
Apparently they think denying many of their players the opportunity to experience an event and instead be forced to watch it on youtube is preferable to them actually playing it with the reason that they might “spoil” the event by watching on youtube before participating.
… Yep. They’ve turned into idiots.
Tarnished Coast
