I’m opposed to this, if only because, any tool given to accomadate min/maxers, promotes min/maxing, and creates more min/maxers. The only way to keep elitism at bay is to not give it a rock to stand on.

Min/Maxers are usually players that have experience in the game, are not here just to enjoy it but want to take it to the limit

Elitists are (mostly, in the least pathetic form) kids that have nothing more important in life than play video games, their delusion makes them think everyone is on the same page and call “bad” people who can’t dedicate the same amount of time (or that doesn’t give that much importance to a video game).

Everyone is cool with Min/Maxers since they are most of the times people who give advises or create guides for others.

Everyone hates elitists and their single line troll comments on the forums.

(PS. most elitists are min maxers, not all min maxers are elitists).

Min/maxers themselves maybe fine, but if they share the fruits of thier labours enmasse, the elitists get ahold of it and use it to enforce their opinions and egos. The min/maxer who created it may not mean any harm, but neither did the scientists that invented TNT and splid the atom. Once the method is out there, the intentions become moot. Elitist and Min/Maxers both crave “the one build”, and the clearer in image of that build becomes, the easier it is for those with the wrong intentions to abuse it.

Thieves need a Rifle. They fit the Sniper/Hitman theme right down to their general playstyle. And they currently have the shortest range potential in the game.
I feel Staff would fit Ranger better in a nature magic/quarter staff fashion.

Not literally but they have been trying to get you to buy gems in many many (bad) ways. And it did work on you.

Maybe during the dragon bash. Mostly what I’ve gotten are character slots and a few skins. They’re a far cry from other games I’ve played.

Voicing your opinion is fine, but since this is a (mostly) public forum, other users have the right to voice their opinion on you opinion. The more exagurated thr point in a post is, the easier it is to critisize. Also, when there’s too much of anything, there’s usually a backlash. For instance, this recent spike in “white knighting” we’ve seen lately is a direct backlash to the negativity this forum has become saturated with.
As for your suggestions; for Ascended I say no. Ascendeds are supposed to do what Exotics were supposed to do, “Take time to get”. Exotics became trivially easy to get because they were sellable on the TP. Making Ascendeds tradable threatens to trivialize acquiring them, and if that happens, the devs will have a reason to make a tier after ascended.
I like the skin wallet idea.

I think a key factor is how they act high and mighty. They love to talk about how much they contribute when they aren’t GvGing. It gets to the point that they make it sound like they think they’re superior to the rest of the population.
It’s a smack in the face to dedicated WvW players that don’t GvG. (GvGing doesn’t automatically make you an elite WvWer)
This additude extends to how they interact with other PvP modes too. Disrespecting TPvPers certainly doesn’t anything good for the GvGer’s image.
The GvG community is going to need to practice some serious humility if they want to be a respected part of the community, especially since they aren’t a sanctioned game mode; because if they keep acting like an angry mob of elitist jerks, they’ll never get rid of the negative perception of them.

The game isn’t even designed for Levels beyond 80, heck, it’s not even designed to use levelling as a means to prolong your experience. Removing levels all together would make more sense then upping the max level.
So no. No upping max level.
Before I don my tin foil hat. May I ask if a level cap increase has been annouced? Devs making statements to avert putting their feet in thier mouths don’t count.

1) One is because on a thief, in most cases your most important attack is your stealth skill, and only BS is a pure oneshot burst. S/D uses Tactical Strike for control via daze, almost all of P/D’s condi dps is tied to Sneak Attack. Considering their other weapon skills, a good analogy would be, taking a x/D thief’s ability to stealth regularly is like taking Shatter mesmer’s ability to spawn illusions regularly.
2) I don’t know about you, but I can tell the difference between a clone and a transparent purple silhoette. If Mesmer tried using decoy in those conditions, I’d melee the silhoette to death. (Makes me wonder how much people use targetting for handholding)
3) No class should be banned from any mode of play. (Ranger, hope you get pet fixes soon) As said before Shadow Refuge what thieves are usually brought for in parties across all modes.

1) Congratz, you’ve deleted thieves from SPvP, WvW zergs and end game PvE. (Well, unless that thief player likes playing Bullet Hells)
Scenerio: Go to a Dungeon or a zerg v zerg or an invasion and tell me where a stealthed player can stand without begin hit and still be effective.
2) Yah. This kind of defeats the point of stealth skill. I mean decoy would be worthless now. Props for taunting ranged players with this.
3) Feels kinda petty and kills one of thieves’ support roles. (Shadow Refuge is the closest thing we have to a rez skill)

It would add new traits which allows rolling to shrug off condition damage or lower it.

Traits on the same principle already exist.
Your idea is “Break the game and then see what happens”
1. It wont happen because of PvE.
2. It’s a longshot that would end up making every profession have to go through a series of revisions when damage they’re taking goes up heavily.

1) It might be good for PvE when you think about it, it’d put a lot of pressure on Zerker players which would make tankier sets more useful.
2) Yes it would need a lot of revisions, that said, often times good things aren’t quick fixes.

i know how the thief stealth works it’s just doing damage or actions does not reveal them so if your entire team is on them and they stealthed and you have a person down that thief can finish them off without even being seen

Yeah. That’s the idea behind safe stomping. That said, if you know you’re being stealth stomped, you should call your team for help, and any player worth his/her salt know how to stop a stealth stomp.
I suppose like assassins in every other PvP game, it’s thier job to kill you swiftly if you leave yourself unguarded.

Oct 17th patch is slated to have the Ranger shout “Sick ’Em” afflict them with revealed status. If you’re a Guard, your 2 will hit them, provide they didn’t blind you. I guess the short answer is, asside from Combo field stealthing and SR, no thief stealth last much longer then 3-4 seconds.

I consider myself casual due to college demands, and I’ve never grinded in GW2, or focused solely on farming (well except for SAB, but I loved SAB and I also love what it’s done to my jumping skills). I’ve never felt pressured to get ascended and haven’t cared to actively pursue the weapons. I don’t focus on farming, yet usually net 1-10g in a sitting just doing whateves. I don’t feel barred from any of the content in the game, with the exception of not having enough time to do some things on some days. Not the game’s fault. So yes. I would say GW2 is fun for casuals imo.

To preface this, I’m bored so this is pretty much a random suggestion for funzies.

As an alternative to RNG, what if they made a tower gauntlet dungeon to get a precursor.
It’d be a pretty straight forward dungeon where you face an increasingly difficult wave of monsters on each floor. Finish a floor, move up a level. (I’m oozing with originality here I know. /sarcasm)
Upon beating the final floor (Say floor 100), your party will receive their choice of a precursor (on a once a month cooldown)

Just a thought.

Thief Stealth = Worst Mistake In The Game

If you’re having trouble with thieves on an engie, sad to say, you aren’t that good. I generally go 20/20/0/30/0 on my engie with a mix of Rabid and apothecary, and I have no trouble against Thieves. (Nor did I have trouble with them when I took a level 3 engie into WvW for funzies)

The fundamental problem is that it takes far more skill to kill a good thief than it does to play one. The windows of opportunity to kill one are narrow, while their margin for error is substantial.

Yep. The amount of thieves i have seen just go around spamming the same attack and still kill people is very high. What other class can kill a class just using the same attack over and over and over.

Stealth is WAY to much reward and no risk, if you are losing you can just stealth, run and reset…

What other class only has one attack skill, or one condi skill or or one of each on thier weapon bar? Their weapon skills aren’t like other class’ where most skills are damage, usually only one skill on thier weapon set is damage focused, compared to say Warrior GS where all thier skills are damage focused. Also, thanks to initiative, unlike other classes, thieves can’t simply swap to another weapon set, when they’ve spent thier init, where as all other classes have the capacity to endlessly blow thier weapon CDs and swap to another weapon, and have at least some skills off CD.

I think it’s because Venoms are considered very weak as they are. So it’s pretty much kicking Venoms while their down, mush likes a nerf to Ranger Pets would be seen as kicking pets while they’re down.

Why no Legendary trinket? Not like they’re gonna be stronger then the already firmly established Ascended trinkets, and they’d only make them if there was gonna be flashy effects. Honestly it’s a better route then Legendary Armour, as it has potential to make all your current armour sets look legendary.

WvW is turning into typical MMO PvP, which means gear grind or pay for advantage. (Or in GW2’s case, since it is B2P, a hybrid of both).

It is really unfortunate they made this choice. They could have had a permanent niche as the MMO PvP where skill was paramount. But now it is about the non-skill advantage.

If they did that, players would complain that they’re turning WvW into SPvP >_>

I’ll still play. Never looked for balance or fairness in WvW. I kinda miss it being the place you could use consumables in a PvP setting. I know it could lead to cheesiness but in a setting that isn’t about personal skill I think it should have some leeway. It’s like playing Smashbros with the items on. In games, there are those that whine and complain about the rules and mechanics, and there are those that delight in seeing how far they can push the limits set before them. I prefer being the latter.

I’d reference an article I know about “scrubs” but don’t feel like wasting my time arguing.

Because I am a Blackgate world player, have been since day 1, and wish to play on Blackgate’s Sparkfly Fen map, with other Blackgate players and I feel that my spot should not be occupied by a Crystal Desert guesting player simply leeching off the accomplishments of my fellow Beastgaters.

Accomplishments I’m willing to bet you had little to not hand in at all. So why should you receive any credit for them?

To answer your complaint: Tough kitten. Get on your server’s SF faster. If you’re too slow that’s your problem. “But I want…” But they don’t. Your “I want” is as valid as anyone else’s “I want”, and clearly a lot of other people “want” to be there.

That’s assuming that your “problem” is due to guesting anyways, which you have absolutely 0 credible or even plausible evidence to support. You’re guessing, wildly, with no evidence behind it. Plenty of servers are hitting overflow on TQ event that haven’t killed TQ yet. Are you suggesting this is also caused by guesting?

This thread reminds me of one of those backwater hillbillies that spout racist “THEY TAKIN’ OUR JOBS!” bullkitten as a way to justify their own failures. “I could get one o’them jobs but them immigrants comin’ here steals them all!”.

…Of all the stupid complaints…

If you get home and your lot/driveway is filled with “visitor”/guests cars, would you not be kitten ed off that you had no where to park?

Irrelevant. You own your property. You don’t own the Blackgate server.
And before you say “I bought the game and got on the server so it’s mine”; No it isn’t. You paid for an account that grants you the privilage to play Guild Wars 2 and chose to play on Black Gate. You don’t own Guild Wars 2, or any of its servers, and your don’t even legally own your account. (Which as bad as it sounds is standard practice among all online services)

same problem with every dynamic population scoring suggestion has: it encourages players to log out.

Well the population has to shift someway. Certainly aren’t pulling the fairweathers out of LA. If anything, I’d like to keep the faster cap speed, make these things easy to ninja, at least on the home BL.

What if Bloodlust scaled by the ratio of friends to enemies on the map? The ratio would be go between the highest and second highest team pops or BL maps, if the enemy is outmanned, you only get 20% of the buff, if they outman you, you get 100% of the buff. If you’re on your home borderland, you default to getting 120% of the buff.

In addition, they could either make it so the cap time it halved on your home BL, or just lower the cap time in general, and put the point in about a 3 minute lockdown, upon capture.

No. The whole point of this system is to reward bad casuals.

Not of they score your performance on participation. A casual would never put in as much time as a hardcore, thus they’re already at a disadvantage.
The reason I made it so arbitrary, is it to feel like getting the door slammed as you’re trying to run through. It pretty much is a punishment for hoping on tier 1 hoping for a free ride.

What if Anet made it so only the top x (whatever the map limit of EB is per team) would get a good prize if their server wins, and everyone else on the server got say 50s as compensation?

The reward would have to be something sought after. Say their choice a set of WvW ascended weapons or something.

The intention is the chance of being snubbed a reward on would be higher per capita on stacked servers, this may make the thought of spreading among the servers to lower the chance of missing out.

They could also go farther and make the prize for winning as a lower tier server twice as good if they win, and drop the cost to transfer lower. Say make it scale, bottom of a league is free, first place is full price.

Honestly? Stealth is a crutch, plain and simple. Learn to play without it, and that’s where the real skill takes places.

Good. You shouldn’t rely on stealth to get you anywhere in the game. No other class does. Even those that have access to stealth have other options for when it’s on CD or they’re in Revealed.

Right over your head. There is no Backstab without stealth. Also, those classes that don’t use stealth are designed around not having stealth.
Mesmer has 3 traits and 4 skills pertaining to stealth; Engie has 1 skill, one trait and one combo; Ranger has 1 skill and 2 traits; and Thief has 5 skills, 2 combos, 14 traits and a class mechanic devoted to stealth.

With the new “Sic ’Em” coming out, I’d main a Catsassin Ranger. Not only do you have access to a skill that reveals any target in stealth, but you’re extremely tanky, deal decent damage and have pretty solid condition pressure while your cat autoattacks for 2-6k.

What does this mean? I don’t really understand the “Sic ’Em” bit or the kittenin… :P

John Sharp posted a thread about the Oct 15 patch on the general board and it seems the Ranger Shout “Sick’Em” will now apply revealed to enemies.

I’d say any class that demands more attention then the thief, if your friend’s a burster. I can see Guard, Warrior, Mesmer and Necro doing particularly well. That said it more depends on play style then class. Try usung your fav class and making builds that compliment each other, or have some basic tactics in mind.
